Cookie1831 · 20/03/2018 21:34

Think

Northernbeachbum · 21/03/2018 19:44

If I eat too much or lie down too soon after eating I get the sick feeling

Had a massage last night and oh my god I feel incredible now! Hadn't realised how bad I was feeling and how much it was fixable. Scary how fast june is coming around!

Ca55andraMortmain · 21/03/2018 21:37

Oh I could so go a massage! I'm really achy and still throwing up every day. Beginning to find the old pelvic floor is no longer holding up during vigorous vomiting - super fun! I agree - it's been harder this time and I can't wait to have this baby safely in my arms and no longer inside me!

ClareB83 · 21/03/2018 21:43

Got a massage booked for Friday as part of our babymoon to the Lake District. Really looking forward to it and to a few days off work with just DH.

I had a yoga class last night after missing last week and it felt so good! I was in desperate need for a good stretch and to get my hips moving. A massage would have been much nicer though! Not sure how much longer I can keep the yoga going though as I did have to stop halfway through to stop myself being sick Confused

My changing bag arrived yesterday from Mothercare, it's a gorgeous rucksack that I'm really excited to use. Might double up as a hospital bag first though.

I'm away with my partner this weekend, off to St Ives. It's my birthday but we're also treating it as a bit of a babymoon. Now seems to be the ideal time for it! Plus, time off work - yes please!! Enjoy your break next week Clare.

@Cookie1831 I'm 26 weeks today, just a few days behind you! Although I've read everywhere that the third trimester starts at 28 weeks?

HoneyBee03 · 22/03/2018 12:49

Obviously I've completely lost track of the days - Clare, enjoy your break this weekend :)

ClareB83 · 22/03/2018 13:06

Thanks @HoneyBee03 we're about halfway. Did a webinar last night withTAMBA on preparing for twin parenthood. Then we unwrapped and built a load of baby stuff like the bouncy chairs. So I feel like we've earner our break!

I mean about halfway to the Lakes! Oh god we're way more than halfway through this pregnancy malarkey!!

Oh bugger of course it isn’t I have such baby brain damn it getting all ahead of myself! I had a massage this week too but it wasn’t the best and I was really disappponted, it did help my back pain but the lights were on full, no music stuck in one position just didn’t have the pampering effect I was hoping for but will know for again!

Heregoeseverything · 22/03/2018 13:55

Jealous of all of the massages!

@Cookie sorry to hear yours was disappointing, was it a "pregnancy" massage? My DH had been rubbing in Deep Heat but I only just found out it's not recommended in pregnancy... is anything?! I'm not good at splashing the cash on indulgences but maybe a professional massage counts as a necessity at this stage...!

Northernbeachbum · 22/03/2018 14:15

@HoneyBee03 are you still doing normal yoga? I gave it up when I was feeling rubbish early on but would like to get back into it.

@cookie1831 that's a real shame about your massage

HoneyBee03 · 22/03/2018 16:22

I must admit I have been eyeing up pregnancy massage at a local spa! It's a very fancy one and quite pricey though, maybe I'll make it a special treat and try to blag a day pass to go with it - doesn't look like I'll be allowed to use many of the facilities anyway while pregnant.

@Northernbeachbum I have been going to a regular class, I started at around 14 weeks. I spoke to the instructor beforehand to check I'd be able to, and turns out she is fully trained in pregnancy yoga. She recommended I go for the smaller class size and she adapts everything to me and my growing bump. She gives me alternative moves, or warns me when something is a tight twist so I know to do it gently or not at all. She's fab!

Can I ask if you're all thinking of doing antenatal classes? Yesterday my midwife gave me dates for my local one, and I'm not sure whether it's worth it. I've heard mixed opinions! Plus I'd probably end up at a few classes on my own as my partner is self-employed and can't take much unpaid time off.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 22/03/2018 16:30

@HoneyBee03 Not this time but with ds my NHS ante-natal classes were great for getting a support network of other new mums. I'd recommend for that alone.

Ca55andraMortmain · 22/03/2018 17:02

@honeybee I did the NHS ones with DD and although I didn't find them especially useful thru were good for info specific to our hospital like who to phone and at what stage when in labour, details about parking, how to choose between birthing centre and labour ward etc. I also met some lovely people there.

Sorry if this has already been done to death but is anyone here hoping to have an elective section? I had an emcs last time and am hoping for an elective this time round but I don't have a medical reason - I just worry that I would end up with another section anyway and kind of want to cut my losses. My midwife says I should be prepared to argue my case but I don't really have one except that I want a section! I do have SPD so I'm thinking I might try to use that as the reason. Anyway, the consultant appointment isn't until the beginning of may and I'm really worried that they'll turn around and say I can't have a section and I won't have time to get my head around it before the birth. Has anyone in the same position already had their appointment and how was it?

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 22/03/2018 17:10

@Ca55andraMortmain I'm getting an elective following an emcs last time around. Saw the consultant at 24 weeks and she was fine with that. However I did get to 10 cms last time and pushed for 2 hours, plus forceps failed to dislodge my under seven pound son from my pelvis. Not sure if that was a factor or not since they said it was his position that was the problem. When I raised it with the community midwife, she said that having an emcs was enough of a medical reason if that's what I wanted.

ClareB83 · 22/03/2018 17:35

@HoneyBee03 we did the NHS ones. They were good for hearing about how our hospital does things, what to do if you go into labour very quickly that sort of thing. There was nothing social about it, we didn't go round the room doing names or anything.

@Ca55andraMortmain I'm having an elcs but it's my hospitals standard procedure for identical twins so I didn't have to ask for or justify it. I would have thought an emcs last time would be enough tho.

I want a massage now!

Has anyone else had a bit of a sore bump? My stomach is really tender in a certain spot to the right of my tummy button and it feels a bit lumpy as well?? I will mention it to the midwife at the hospital on Monday but just wondered if anyone else was a bit sore (and lumpy!)

HoneyBee03 · 22/03/2018 18:05

I might try the antenatal classes, there are three sessions altogether so I guess I could drop it if I'm not keen. I also live in a village where everyone knows everyone, so the social element of antenatal classes isn't important to me.

@ElizabethLemon occasionally I get sore patches on either side of my belly button, and when I looked it up a lot of places said it was just my bump growing and the muscles stretching. No lumpiness though?

Cookie1831 · 22/03/2018 19:12

The bottom half of my bump just aches in the evenings no lumps as yet
Yep you can definitely ask for an elective section I would if had have previous emergency one, you can just say you are not keen on the idea of VBAC (vaginal birth after Caesarian) as you have to be continually monitored, there is a small risk of uterine rupture etc, totally within your rights obviously there are plenty of ladies who would want this option but if it isn’t for you that is your decision xxx

Northernbeachbum · 22/03/2018 20:39

We get an antenatal day here instead of classes so we are doing that, especially as I have no idea how to change a nappy. DP as it happens does, might be making the most of that!!

I'm having a meeting about an ELCS due to tokophobia at 34 weeks. I'm writing a long letter explaining I understand the risks and that it's not the easy option but I know it's the right decision for me which I will use to make sure I cover all points in the meeting.

Northernbeachbum · 22/03/2018 20:40

@ElizabethLemon I can definitely get sore and lumpy as I can see where baby is and I think it's where his head or butt is as it's really hard and sore

Northernbeachbum · 22/03/2018 20:50

@honeybee03 I might message my old instructor and ask as i would love to start it up again

ClareB83 · 22/03/2018 20:57

I definitely get a sore bump sometimes. I think it's just where babies are pushing me around.

Ca55andraMortmain · 23/03/2018 14:46

Thanks everyone. I'm really hoping that my midwife is wrong and they'll be quite happy to give me an elcs but I want to be ready with arguments in case they try to turn me down for it.

In other news, I think dh and I have finally decided on a name for the baby which is a massive relief! Anyone else got their name locked in yet?
