@jadeward89 how exciting!! Hopefully your baby will be here by this time tomorrow. Good luck!

Masterchef, we’ve had a lot of discussions about the “mental load” here. My husband is generally pretty good but there are some things he just doesn’t get. I always say if I died tomorrow my ds would never have clean bed sheets again!

I’ve swollen up today. Fingers look like sausages and my left foot/ankle looks like it’s been pumped up. Bit worried but it’s been really warm today so I’m hoping it’s just that, I’ll keep an eye on it.

Sitting in a friend’s garden yesterday evening I got bitten loads by something, I react really badly to bites and they’ve been driving me mad. I went into boots to get some antihistamine cream and they wouldn’t sell me anything apart from bloody camomile lotion 🙄!

RockinRobinTweets · 26/05/2018 20:34

Best of luck for tomorrow Jade!! I was thinking it was time for some more babies on this group.

Hope your swelling goes down Elizabeth.

Dinosaur I had one midwife tell me it wasn’t necessary, luckily it wasn’t up to her and the consultant who reviewed my file saw no problems. Otherwise, all other mws have been accepting and shown no judgement at all.

Cookie1831 · 26/05/2018 20:53

@elizabethlemon I have allergies and my consultant said cetirizine is fine so I take it every night mainly to help with itchy skin and sleep x

Cookie1831 · 26/05/2018 20:54

Have you any hydrocortisone that will help too, and soak a towel or Muslim in water and put in the freezer to frost up and place on to soothe

Cookie1831 · 26/05/2018 20:54

Muslin!!!!!! As in cloth Blush

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 26/05/2018 20:57

@ElizabethLemon You could try soaking a muslin in cold water with a bit of vinegar. I really struggle with bites and when we were in Canada one of dh's aunts swore by that. I was pleasantly surprised at how effective it was. The smell was interesting though. Apple cider is apparently the best vinegar if you have it.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 26/05/2018 21:03

Ah cross posted, I got distracted by ds who despite having gone to bed over an hour ago isn't actually in bed at all.

Cookie1831 · 26/05/2018 21:09

Ah we give good advice dinosaur! 😘

Northernbeachbum · 26/05/2018 22:02

Good luck @jadeward89 I can't wait to hear updates

jadeward89 · 26/05/2018 22:29

Thank you all 😊 going to bed now to try and get some sort of sleep before an early start. Fingers crossed my kids actually get ready to go to their grandparents and not dawdle like they would for school haha. Will try and keep you updated as best I can 😊

SparklesandBubbles · 27/05/2018 00:22

@Dinosauratemydaffodils hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you are suffering - hope you get lots of rest this weekend. x

@jadeward89 good luck tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed for you it all goes quickly and smoothly xx

Due date for me was today so it's been and gone! Had a lovely relaxing day but nothing moving just yet - although kind of pleased about that given the massive storm that's just passed. Don't think I would have like going out in that!! I'm supposed to be being induced on Monday (mainly because I asked and I'm over 40) but I'm now questioning my decision. Even though I'm keen and ready to meet baby I don't want to force him/her out if he/she is not ready quite yet. Also - this sounds weird but it's a full moon on Tuesday and I gave birth to DS just after a full moon so wondering whether to push back a day or two on the induction. Not quite sure what to do!!

SylvesterTheCat · 27/05/2018 08:22

@SparklesandBubbles I think I'll be the same as you (but I've still got 2 weeks to go) -kind of excited to reach the date but apprehensive about the idea of induction too. I want baby to come out when it's ready.

Woke up in the night with terrible pain on my leftside/back. Tried practising my hypnobirthing techniques to deal with the pain but was difficult when I knew it couldn't be early labour as it was only on one side and I thought something could be wrong.
Turned out to be wind. A lot of it 🙄

I feel overwhelmed with stuff to do around the house. Also I'm trying to do other things/go places that I won't be able to do so easily when baby arrives. I don't have the nesting instinct - more like a panic. I hope baby isn't early.

WreckItRach · 27/05/2018 09:31

Ah @SparklesandBubbles happy due date! Hopefully little baby will come on their own any day now and you won't have to be induced. I totally understand what you mean, I've never been keen on it then last night the doctors spoke about possibly inducing and suddenly I panicked about getting the baby out before they are ready.
You have to do whatever your gut is telling you ❤️

@SylvesterTheCat that really did make me laugh! Pregnancy is soooo glamorous isn't it?! I used to wake up every morning with pain on my right side from trapped wind!!

ElizabethLemon · 27/05/2018 09:37

Thanks cookie and Dino, great advice re the muslins (cookie, I couldn’t understand why nothing was coming up when I was searching the John Lewis website for muslins the other day until I noticed autocorrect had helpfully stepped in 😅).

Sparkles, that’s tough. Maybe if you’re not 100% speak to your midwife about pushing the induction back. Sod’s law will probably mean you go into labour tomorrow anyway!

Sylvester, I’ve had a few times where I’ve been convinced labour was starting and it turned out to be awful trapped wind! I’ve started drinking peppermint tea after my evening meal to try and avoid it as it is incredibly painful.

Northernbeachbum · 27/05/2018 10:19

@sparklesandbubbles I've definately heard something about a full moon causing women to go into labour (its one of those old wives tales but actually seems to have some truth in it)

How many muslins do you all have (double checked the spelling there just in case :-))

I've had the same with the trapped wind. People used to tell me pregnancy is an amazing experience, and it is of course but they keep the glamourous aspects of pregnancy, labour and birth quiet!

I'm struggling in the heat here, with one hand swollen up (just the one though!). Hoping the nesting instinct kicks in soon as I have lots to do but I seem to be sat on the sofa relaxing.......

WreckItRach · 27/05/2018 10:27

@Northernbeachbum I've got 9 muslins, only because I was bought them though. I have heard they are the wonder item to have but don't really know the importance of them just yet!
I hope you are right about the full moon, anything to help little man get a shift on!!!

Northernbeachbum · 27/05/2018 11:00

Hmm maybe I need more muslins then.....I think I have 4 small ones thanks to a friend not needing them anymore

I'm pretty sure if I didn't have an ELCS booked baby would happily stay put forever. My bump dropped but somehow seems to have gone back up.....didn't know that was possible

SylvesterTheCat · 27/05/2018 11:20

I have 5 muslins (I wasn't expecting them to be so large: 70x70cm).
Like you, @WreckItRach , I'm not entirely sure what they're for but have read they come in handy (Emma's Diary says "have plenty!").

jadeward89 · 27/05/2018 11:44

I’m in now and have had the “tea bag” it’s possible that my waters have already started to go so fingers crossed it won’t be too long before everything starts properly.
Hope all ok 😊

Northernbeachbum · 27/05/2018 12:04

I'm now online shopping for muslins.....just in case!

Ooooh I'm so excited for you @jadeward89 fingers crossed for baby soon

SylvesterTheCat · 27/05/2018 12:27

All the best @jadeward89 !
(Sorry but what is the "tea bag"?)

Lali1 · 27/05/2018 12:34

@jadeward89 good luck all goes guckly and smooth for you!
@ElizabethLemon fingers crossed viner muslins works wonders.
@ClareB you are doing great with the twins, I am wooried how I' cope with only one...

Still 5 weeks to go, one week (3 days actaully) to work and just bought the pram, changing table, moses basket and the cot.

Trouble is we still have to renovate kitchen but baby "is set" just in case with bottles ans steriliser...I will try to breastfeed but have no idea how good will work out..."no stress at all" Blush

Cookie1831 · 27/05/2018 12:38

Ha ha I have 15 muslins some I bought some from before and some that were gifts, I would easily get through 5-6 a days with spit ups, using as a swaddle, dribbling child, make shift bibs etc so I would say get a few more to the people with less than 5 unless you do a wash every day. They make great cleaning cloths afterwards I am currently using an old one for my bathroom cloth and was using one with windolene the other day (saddo nesting but all my mirrors came up a treat!)

jadeward89 · 27/05/2018 12:40

Thank you 🙂 The tea bag is a mesh string that works for 24 hours and can be removed. It’s the stronger dose of induction. The other option is a 6hr pessary but that’s a lower dose.

WreckItRach · 27/05/2018 12:48

@jadeward89 good luck!! How exciting, things are getting real! Keep us updated! 🤞😊

@Lali1 it sounds like you are really organised! Try not to worry about it, it will all come together.

@Cookie1831 that's shocking, I didn't realise we will get through that many!!
