Thanks @Cookie1831 - Amazon here we come!

Northernbeachbum · 27/05/2018 16:02

I'm so glad someone else had to ask about the teabag!

Well I've spent a lot of today looking at gorgeous muslins and ended up buying 4 small and 4 large after a lot of time spent deciding which designs to go for (I like to pretend it's for bump but being realistic he really won't care but I'll be happy that they look lovely).

Which if any baby carriers has everyone gone for? I've got an ergo baby the original one as a freebie from a friend but I keep eyeing up the mesh ergo baby adapt. I think with a summer baby it could work so much better!

Shutupanddance1 · 27/05/2018 16:48

Gosh I must be the only parent that didn’t really get on with muslin clothes Confused - I used them for feeding etc but I didn’t really see them as a necessity.

For carriers, if you can go along to a sling library it’ll probably be more beneficial @northernbeachbum I used a ring sling with my DD for first 4/5 months, then we moved on to a full buckle carrier (like an ergo) - we still use it for airport runs etc. Very handy instead of using a pram, especially if you enjoy walking outdoors etc on trails which aren’t peak friendly.

ElizabethLemon · 27/05/2018 17:07

@Shutupanddance1 I didn’t find them massively useful either, we did use them and I’ve bought some again this time but my main memory of them is how smelly they used to get!

@Northernbeachbum we have a wrappy one and an ergo for a bit later. I think the ergo does get quite warm but give it a go and see what you think.

I hope everything’s going well with your teabag jade!

RockinRobinTweets · 27/05/2018 17:20

Northern - we’ve gone for a close Caboo

SparklesandBubbles · 27/05/2018 17:22

@jadeward89 good luck. Sounds like things are moving in the right direction.

Re Muslins I've probably got about 10 I think. I still use them if DS gets a cold etc they are really useful for all sorts of things!

I've spoken with the midwife and she said to still go in tomorrow and get assessed/ check baby is fine etc which is probably a wise idea and then if everything is good to then see if it's possible to push being induced to maybe Wednesday - even if it means going in to be monitored every day (which I don't mind doing at all). My mum has also decided to come up anyway tomorrow (she lives 2.5hrs away) so at least she is then here and we don't need to worry about where to send DS!!

It'll be Sod's law that everything will kick off tonight when we don't have a real plan for DS!

hoopdeloop · 27/05/2018 19:15

I’ve got loads of muslin cloths but I needed them for DS1 cos I needed to use nipple shields to breast feed and there seemed to be a leak so they sat under my boob to catch the milk!

Hope all is going well Jade!

Watchingmasterchef · 27/05/2018 19:23

I had a very reflux-ey baby last time so muslins were essential as we were both constantly covered with regurgitated milk , also good for leaky boobs. We have a boba for newborn and then ergo is great for older babies but the newborn insert is a pain to keep in place - has a little block to keep baby at correct height and I found really hard to use last time so started with ergo about 6 months . They may have improved design now . Both washable which was good with all the sick everywhere

WreckItRach · 27/05/2018 20:28

If you get induced do you then have to stay in hospital until the baby arrives or do you get sent home for a bit?

jadeward89 · 27/05/2018 21:00

Thank you everyone 😊
@wreckitrach you get kept in, or at least that’s what happens in my hospital.
My contractions are coming more frequently now have been having pains all afternoon but they weren’t regular. Turns out my hind waters have been leaking (which I thought was the case weeks ago but I was told it wasn’t!)
I’ll let you know once baby is here. Hope you are all doing well 😊

WreckItRach · 27/05/2018 21:16

Thanks @jadeward89 I hope it's not too painful at the minute for you and keeps moving quickly!!

SparklesandBubbles · 27/05/2018 21:34

@WreckItRach the hospital I'm at will let you go home for up to 24hrs after the pessary is inserted. If nothing progresses then you stay in. That's what I'm hoping will happen to me tomorrow if they insist on induction (I'm hoping for a couple of extra days before they go ahead!).

@jadeward89 glad things are progressing for you. Can't wait to hear your news!

WreckItRach · 28/05/2018 00:13

I have been booked in for induction on Tuesday because of slowed movements. They said to me that once I'm booked in I don't leave until baby comes either!

Northernbeachbum · 28/05/2018 07:09

Thank you all for the carrier advice, we definitely need a good one for dog walks so I'll see about a sling library @watchingmasterchef I've been lent one of those carrier and it's the insert that puts me off. They've just brought a new one out which doesn't need one and looks much better and less bulky.

What time are you in today @sparklesandbubbles?

@jadeward89 I hope you're already snuggling your new baby. Looks like for a june thread we are going to have a lot of may babies Smile

Hope you manage to enjoy your day pre induction @wreckitrach

@dinosaursate are you feeling like the antibiotics have kicked in yet?

jadeward89 · 28/05/2018 07:29

@northenbeachbum sadly no 😢 not yet, contractions have stopped but when I was last checked (last night) they said they might be able to break my waters but it was nice to be able to get some sleep (not that I got much).
Good luck today @sparklesandbubbles
@wreckitrach that’s why I’m being induced, not sure why the babys movements kept slowing so it’s best for the baby if he/she comes soon x

Northernbeachbum · 28/05/2018 07:41

Oh that's a shame @jadeward89 but at least you got some sleep. What's their next plan?

SparklesandBubbles · 28/05/2018 07:42

@Northernbeachbum I'm in for 12noon today so I've got the morning to make sure the flat is ready etc just in case they keep me in. DS was amazing and woke up at 7:30 and stayed in bed all night! Both DH and I were wide awake at 6:30am and wondered what was going on !

@jadeward89 sorry contractions have stopped - at least you got some sleep and hopefully they will ramp up again. Think nice relaxing positive thoughts. Wishing you lots of luck xx

jadeward89 · 28/05/2018 08:34

When they checked me last night I was 2cm and my waters were bulging so it’s possible that they could break my waters but at the moment I haven’t seen anyone to find out what the plan is. The drs do rounds at about 10/10:30 so hopefully I’ll know more then.
Good luck today @Sparkles, it’s always the way that they sleep in on the day that you are up early

ElizabethLemon · 28/05/2018 08:49

@jadeward89 hope you’re not waiting too much longer x

WreckItRach · 28/05/2018 09:08

@jadeward89 how many days ago were you induced? Hopefully they can break your waters today and things can get a wriggle on for you!!

@SparklesandBubbles how are you feeling? I hope you have an amazing breakfast and morning before you go in. I've said to DH I want us to clean the house and repack the hospital bag with more clothes for me before tomorrow now! Is your partner going with you?

jadeward89 · 28/05/2018 09:13

I was only started off yesterday morning so it progressed quicker than I thought it would, especially as I’m only 37 weeks.
I think I was contracting too quickly but I wasn’t dilating at the same rate but I’m eager to get on with things now haha 😂

SylvesterTheCat · 28/05/2018 09:51

What sort of movements is everyone feeling at this stage (I'm 38+2)? The movements of my baby are quite subtle and have been for a few weeks now but I'm also aware that there is less room in there now so perhaps this is what causes the change? None of this "kicking in my ribs" that I was expecting. Baby gets the hiccups a fair bit and I can feel it moving in my pelvis, see it protrude to make weirdo shapes on my belly. @WreckItRach were there other factors that brought on the decision to be induced? Hope it all goes well.

WreckItRach · 28/05/2018 10:30

@jadeward89 it has moved fairly quickly then! That's good! Good luck for today 🤞

@SylvesterTheCat I have had no issues at all through pregnancy, it is just the slowed movements. The dr said he is ready to come out so if he is slowing down in there then better to get him out than leave him in. I have still felt movements but very few big ones like normal and he always moves after/during meals and he has been very quiet. If you are concerned maybe phone and get their opinion? Better safe than sorry xx

SparklesandBubbles · 28/05/2018 10:31

@WreckItRach I'm actually going in on my own as my mum is driving up so DH is going to feed our DS lunch and hopefully get him down for a nap. He's been brilliant and taken DS out for a bike ride so I can get my stuff sorted out before going in. Hope you get your house all sorted before going in. It's nice to leave it in a decent state for you to come back to. We're lucky in that our cleaner comes tomorrow and she's amazing so she'll give the whole place a good once over so I don't need to worry about that side of things!!
