@WreckItRach and @Dinosauratemydaffodils if the advice is to avoid a bath (what about a shower?) after mucus plug or waters break what happens to water birth? Or by that stage of labour is it ok to get in the water? Sorry- still learning about all of this.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 28/05/2018 22:46

@SylvesterTheCat With ds my waters broke before I went to labour. Labour started a few hours afterwards but they said I shouldn't have a bath or get into the birthing pool because of the risk of infection. Showers are fine though.

Losing the plug, the baby should still be protected by the waters so not a an issue and losing your waters in labour isn't an issue either because it shouldn't be too long before they are born unlike ds was eventually born 81 hours after my waters went.

SylvesterTheCat · 28/05/2018 22:50

Thank you @Dinosauratemydaffodils Smile
That makes sense.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 28/05/2018 22:54

@SylvesterTheCat Although having just looked it up, plenty of hospitals seem to say you can take baths and get into birthing pools if your waters have gone and you aren't in labour so maybe guidelines have changed since ds was born.

SparklesandBubbles · 28/05/2018 23:33

Thanks for the well wishes. I've managed to delay induction until morning. Doctor did a big sweep (ouch!!) and I've been getting slight back ache and a few twinges so really hoping overnight things start moving. Please send positive thoughts.

I just had a shower but I might as well have not bothered - this ward is so hot it's beyond ridiculous! Have drunk 3 litres of water since I've been here.

@ElizabethLemon you never know it might be smaller than they predict but well done you for growing such a big baby!!

@SylvesterTheCat I'm sure you can have baths once your waters have gone as I asked this question in our antenatal class and they said it isn't a problem as plenty of people give birth in birthing pools and obviously their waters almost always break before baby comes out.

ElizabethLemon · 28/05/2018 23:40

@SparklesandBubbles good luck, I hope everything is quick and straightforward!

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 06:08

That's good @SparklesandBubbles . I didn't realise quite how uncomfortable sweeps were!! Hopefully it will have kicked things off for you though so everything moves more swiftly today.

@ElizabethLemon that's good then, hopefully they are wrong and baby is a little smaller so you can enjoy your lovely clothes!

I did not sleep well at all last night so I'm hoping I can get a few hours in before the pessary works. I'm really nervous that when it kicks in labour is going to go quick and my husband who works an hour away will miss it!

jadeward89 · 29/05/2018 06:14

Hi everyone, still no baby 😢 contractions completely stopped and then yesterday no one checked me just told me I was waiting to go to labour ward.
When I was finally examined last night I was told that I wasn’t ready to go to labour ward and had another pessary. I’m a bit fed up and bored (can’t be bothered with my book). I didn’t expect it to be quick by any means (I’m only 37+5 today) but had they checked yesterday I might be further on now.
Good luck to everyone going in today I really hope it goes well for you all 😊

SparklesandBubbles · 29/05/2018 06:38

@WreckItRach - hope you get some sleep before your pessary kicks in. I've had a dreadful night in hospital. I'm feeling fed up. Been in hospital since 12noon yesterday. Sadly nothing has progressed so I think they will try the pessary this morning. The ward was so hot and noisy I ended up half sleeping with my noise cancelling head phones on. I just wish my contractions would start!!

@jadeward89 sounds like you and I are
In a similar boat. Hope your contractions start up again. Have they broken your waters yet? Fingers crossed the pessary works for you xx

Lali1 · 29/05/2018 06:38

Good monrning ladies, hope the inductions go quickly for those already in hospital😚.

I'll be 36 w tomorrow and will have a scan...can't wait to see how big is the girl...I didn'gain any wait for a couple of weeks but she is active and my bump seems to grow regarldess.

..last 3 working days...here I come! 😊

Northernbeachbum · 29/05/2018 07:05

Fingers crossed the inductions start working soon ladies, must be exhausting for you!

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 07:17

Ah @jadeward89 that must be so frustrating for you! Have you got anyone to keep you company or not yet? It must be quite draining to have contractions then they stop.
@SparklesandBubbles have you got anyone to keep you company either? Try and put on a happy film or something to cheer yourself up maybe? I really hope things move quickly for both of you.

I feel a bit weird this morning, shattered, stomach ache, keep going to the loo, BH. Nothing has happened though so I will be in at 11 as normal. It doesn't quite feel real.

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 07:18

@Lali1 good luck for the scan tomorrow! 3 working days is exciting!!

jadeward89 · 29/05/2018 07:24

Can’t break my waters yet as my cervix wasn’t dilated enough and the labour ward was too busy to go onto to do it.
My husband can come down from 10am until 8:30. This morning I’m struggling with not seeing the kids, I’m going to see how things go today and I might see if someone will bring them down later, I just want a hug.
Good luck everyone x

SparklesandBubbles · 29/05/2018 07:34

@WreckItRach not got anyone with me at the moment. I sent my DH home last night / there was no point him being uncomfortable too. He's coming up here for about 9am though and can then be with me for the day. My mum is here so she can look after our toddler. I think they are all going to come up so I get to see DS too - then Granny is taking him back home.

Hope you feel a bit better. I definitely went through days like that.

@jadeward89 it's horrible not seeing your children. I was in tears at 3am as I was missing my little boy and just feeling miserable - I'm really not very good emotionally when I don't get my sleep!! Hope you get to see yours today.

ElizabethLemon · 29/05/2018 08:19

Good luck you 3, I’ll be thinking of you. I hope we have some babies by the end of the day!

WreckItRach · 29/05/2018 08:22

Thanks @ElizabethLemon 😁😁

@jadeward89 @SparklesandBubbles I hope today is more positive for both of you and you feel a bit happier. I have my fingers crossed for you both!!

Addy2 · 29/05/2018 08:37

Good luck to all of you being induced. Hope things start moving soon! Movements are tricky - I've just entered a week's holiday before mat leave kicks in and feel fewer movements, but not sure if that's because I have more time to worry about it and monitor now I'm off than I did when working!

RE: hospital bags, I'm taking a giant holdall plus the changing bag filled with baby things. Don't much care what it looks like tbh, I'd rather have everything I might possibly need than regret leaving something behind for appearance's sake! Grin

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 29/05/2018 08:46

Good luck to everyone in hospital, thinking of you.

Northernbeachbum · 29/05/2018 10:30

Keep checking back for announcements

@dinosaurs are you feeling any better now? Have the antibiotics kicked in?

Watchingmasterchef · 29/05/2018 11:01

Good luck to everyone today ! Waiting for scan , 37 weeks tomorrow . Glad to have made t this far ! I am so hot constantly - is it really necessary to pack a dressing gown and slippers for C section? Have a big baggy shirt I was planning on wearing - and flip flops

ClareB83 · 29/05/2018 11:44

No you don't need either of those @Watchingmasterchef. I wore my gown immediately after the section and the next day I wore leggings and vest and flip flops. You might need to fiddle with your compression socks to get the flip flops on but they're still better than slippers.

Best of luck and all my thoughts are with those in hospital today. Must be really hard knowing what’s going on when they aren’t telling you much.

I’ll admit I was up half the night last night, couldn’t sleep and watched the sunrise. Today I’ve been nesting like a trooper - cleaned out DD room and made banana bread.. I’m exhausted now

Northernbeachbum · 29/05/2018 12:17

Ah I'm glad you said that @Claireb83 as thats what I was planning to take. How long did you have to keep the socks on for?

ClareB83 · 29/05/2018 12:26

They made me wear them the whole time I was in hospital but honestly I think once I was up and about visiting the boys on their ward they were unnecessary.
