This is my 2nd dc. We weren’t trying so unexpected but I’ve had a feeling something was going on for the last week. Tested this morning and got a BFP.

So it’s DC2 (already have a 4 year old DS)
Due date 5/11/18 I think

My feb 2014 group is fab and I’ve made some lovely friends on there so hoping to do the same this time all being well!

Welcome and congrats @Cupofteagarita Smile I’m also expecting DC3, on the 17th. Also have two older DC; DDs 10 and 6 so quite similar situation!

marchblossom · 17/03/2018 13:20

@Picklesandpies yes we'll probably hang on until 12 weeks ish too but not sure I'll be able to hide my tummy on holiday Hmm ill be about 9 weeks when we go...I usually get a bump quite quickly so we'll see! I have one very sensitive (eldest) girl and the little one is pretty robust, they've both been asking for a sibling lately so think it will be smiles all round. Here's hoping !

Saraswati · 17/03/2018 14:00

@marchblossom this will be my first vegan pregnancy too! i have been veggie for a long time but transitioned to vegan. My daughter and DP are veggie (although DP has meat sometimes). I want to have a home birth, i haven't approached the subject with DP yet, this is his first child so he may be horrified. I had a lovely water birth with DD and mw told me i could've done it at home so this time i would like to try! Hospital is 5 minutes down the road if anything went wrong so i feel quite confident about it. Just need to do my research then persuade DP (although i know he'll do whatever i want to do)!

Has anyone had a home birth? I can't remember from last time when you have to start talking to a mw about birth options.

BadBadBeans · 17/03/2018 14:32

@Picklesandpies I wasn't sick once with DS; I just felt a bit travel sick for a few weeks. I've been interested to hear on this thread how different it can be with different pregnancies though. In a weird way I'd quite like to have a bit of 'proper' morning sickness so that I've experienced it - does that make me sound mad?!

Welcome @marchblossom - quite a few expecting number three on this thread, it seems! I swing between being vegetarian and vege-pescetarian. I've been struggling the last couple of days with bouts of serious hunger when I'm trapped upstairs with a defiant toddler who I can't just pick up and carry because my back has been a bit dodgy recently... I am going to have to buy some nuts and snacks and things to stash in each room of the house I think! I do wonder if I feel more hungry because I'm veggie.

@Cupofteagarita welcome! My DS is 20 months and I still feel like I've forgotten loads about pregnancy! I had to sit and go through the NHS foods to avoid list earlier today - just could not remember what was on there!

Is anyone here considering having the Harmony test? Last time our NHS results after the 12 week scan and bloods came back as NHS 'low risk', but we felt that the odds weren't actually that low and booked in for a Harmony at 13 weeks for peace of mind. Got the results at about 14 weeks. If I'd chosen to have a termination at that point I think I would have found it a lot more difficult being just those few weeks futher on. You can have the Harmony from 10 weeks, so I am wondering whether to do that this time round. It's a lot of money though - we paid about £450 last time - and I'm just not sure whether or not to wait for the standard NHS screening first.

LastNightsMakeUp · 17/03/2018 15:00

@badbadbeans I’m also considering harmony, last time we had a private 12 week scan and bloods and got the blood results back the same day. I found the private scan much more reassuring (than the nhs) as they looked at and explained quite a lot in detail (nasal bone present, 4 chambers of heart, stomach inside abdominal cavity, checking lenses of eyes) I have some knowledge on birth defects so I knew these were all very positive in there not being a problem. I think it was about £170 on Harley St..,, considering wether that would be enough for us again. My NHS scan wasn’t til nearly 14 weeks last time and blood results up to a week so was worried we’d be at 15 weeks before we knew if there were any problems.

@saraswati I think at the booking in appointment last time they spoke/asked if I’d considered where I wanted to give birth.

I’m hoping for an elcs this time after an emcs last time 🤞

hellotoyellow · 17/03/2018 16:29

@badbadbeans I'm planning to pay for harmony at 10 weeks at the fetal medicine centre - I'd really rather know early.

Welcome to all the newbies!

Trying to decide if 5+4 is too early to buy pregnancy bras..

moomoo85 · 17/03/2018 16:32

I started transitioning to vegan from long term vegetarian a week before I found out I was pregnant. I am sticking with it but finding it difficult to get what I need while also nauseated and exhausted.

Emelene · 17/03/2018 16:58

@hellotoyellow I've just been and bought new soft bras at 6+6! I wish I'd done it earlier because I'm so much more comfortable now. Smile

hellotoyellow · 17/03/2018 17:25

That's good to hear @Emeline! Where did you go? Think I might go to Bravissimo tomorrow.

I am in awe of anyone doing this vegan. I don't normally eat very much meat (was vegetarian for a long time but then found it difficult to get all the intake required for competitive sport in my early 20s; still don't like the taste most of the time) but have really felt like upping my intake in the last week or so. I voluntarily made a ragu the other night and DH was very confused!

MeredithShepherd · 17/03/2018 17:46

I’m 6+5 today and bought new soft bras last weekend. I got them from H&M they are maternity and nursing bras and so comfy. My boobs are still really sore!

Nightmanagerfan · 17/03/2018 18:05

@hellotoyellow @emeline @meredithshepherd I too am in love with my new bras! I just got regular non-wired moulded cup ones from TK Maxx. I looked at the nursing ones - are they good?

My diet has definitely changed to keep on top of the nausea. I’m eating healthily but more often - did have a second breakfast of a pain au chocolat today so not doing so well at weekends. I find carbs help the nausea the most and bizarrely I’ve completely gone off onion and can taste it in stews, caseroles etc. I’m really hoping that calms down as I cook everything with onions!

I’m getting really excited, but at the same time trying not to as I’m aware it’s so early (I’m 7+3). Is anyone else? I’ve already worked out how long I’ve got left at work and started a shortlist for baby names...

Emelene · 17/03/2018 18:05

@hellotoyellow - I went to M and S and got measured and got some soft non-wired bras. Smile

sarahhh1984 · 17/03/2018 18:09

I envy all of you who can buy bras from regular shops. My boobs are big at the best of times but I'm small across my back so most high street shops don't stock my size. 😔 Have to go to specialist (expensive!) places like Bravissimo. Don't get me wrong, they're excellent, but I wish I could just stroll into H&M or TKMaxx and find my size!

hellotoyellow · 17/03/2018 18:23

@sarahhh1984 I hear you -I basically buy all my bras in the sales as they're so expensive. But needs must now, I guess.

@Nightmanagerfan DH and I have had a very very short shortlist of names for about six years Smile so I don't think that's early at all! I'm resisting putting all milestones in my calendar.... The date to book the harmony is already there.

I'm eating a lot more healthily too (mainly to beat the nausea like you say) and have almost completely gone off anything sweet. Last night though was an engagement party with all my oldest friends from university and that didn't go so well with pizza at 1am. I also had 1.5 small glasses of wine (much less than I'd normally drink) as I just couldn't think of an excuse and I really didn't want them all to know. I think I'm just going to avoid things for a little bit after this.

sarahhh1984 · 17/03/2018 18:26

@hellotoyellow, glad it's not just me! I wash bras so carefully to make them last as long as possibly! 😂 All that being said, the bras I got last time from Bravissimo were so comfortable that they were worth the money!

@Nightmanagerfan DH and I have had names picked out since DD was born so don't think you're early in the slightest!

marchblossom · 17/03/2018 18:39

Hi @Saraswati so good to meet another vegan mama - there are a few of us vegan/veggies it seems Smile

I have been building up to this for so long re. Homebirth. I remember when I had my first daughter even back then, as a nervous young mum-to-be I wanted an all natural home birth but we lived in a really crappy flat and so opted for next best thing. Then that didn't work out either Sad second daughter was classed as high risk so had her in hospital but she ended up flying out with no trouble at all! Labour was about 2 hours from start to finish. So I'm confident now Smile have you read any Ina May Gaskin books? Can also recommend Orgasmic Birth by Elizabeth Davis. My hubby sounds just like your partner Wink

marchblossom · 17/03/2018 18:41

Yes @Picklesandpies you have to eat way more, certainly as a vegan - I know I have to pack way more food in in order to stay full. Carbs are best. Not a prob for me usually GrinWink

MiniMinions · 17/03/2018 18:42

Hi @marchblossom - another teacher here! Hope you are ok after that accident!!

@Nightmanagerfan I too am trying to not get too excited too soon but have downloaded baby names app again for inspiration as I've got some ideas but want some back ups incase hubby says nope haha Middle names are sorted though! I'm 6+4

Re Bras problem I've got is that I'm usually a 40 but sort of between B/C cups. Whenever I lose weight I lose it from the boobs before anywhere else 🙈

I'm finding eating little and often is helping although that didn't happen with pizza takeaway yesterday evening! I'm just sooooo tired all the time...I don't remember being this tired last time but then again didn't have a toddler then!!

marchblossom · 17/03/2018 18:47

Hi @MiniMinions ! When do you plan on telling school? I will being settling newcomers in the summer term, so should probably tell them sooner than later... So tricky. Thank you! I've a proper serious concussion apparently, so have just been signed off for 2 weeks (I'm going to be popular this year Grin) Handy while I'm also suffering from the 1st trimester symptoms though! Not that I'd recommend a concussion - my brain is useless at the moment!!

LastNightsMakeUp · 17/03/2018 18:54

Oh gosh, I’m staying in my normal bras as long as possible. I feel like I’m only just out of nursing bras, I’m quite busty too so had the much hated monoboob in those horrible nursing bras for what felt like forever! Maybe I need to up my shopping game and find prettier ones this time! Would love non monoboob recommendations if anyone finds some

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 17/03/2018 19:12

@sarahhh1984 I feel your pain (literally!) re bras. I'm a 32G normally and see so many pretty bras in all the normal boob sized places....makes me grumpy.... SadWink

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 17/03/2018 19:13

Oh and I couldn't do my favourite jeans up today. This made me a little tetchy.... Angry

SakuraSunrise · 17/03/2018 19:22

Does anyone know if Aldi soured cream and chive dip is ok to eat in pregnancy?! It doesn't say anywhere if it's made from pasteurised milk / egg?!

SakuraSunrise · 17/03/2018 19:28

Very random and specific question, but I have a huge craving for it!! Bought some Aldi halloumi which is made with pasturised milk, and I'm pretty much drooling thinking about them!

Saraswati · 17/03/2018 19:29

@marchblossom I read ina in my last pregnancy and loved it. Will check out the other one Thanks! I know DP will ask me loads of questions when i mention home birth so want to be armed with facts! Seems like there's a few veggie/vegans here. My mw in my last pregnancy said she loved the veggie mums as they usually ate quite healthily.

I had my first vom today, only one so not like my hg last time yet but I'm only about 5+3. Last time it was really bad from 7 weeks but I was still vomming more at this stage.

I bought an m&s non wired bra last week, not a nursing one yet as that felt like tempting fate! It's got moulded cups and is very comfy. I'm usually a 32DD but bought a 32E for comfort but I'm already filling it!
