HAPPY MAY TO EVERYONE!!! NOW THE BABIES CAN OFFICIALLY ARRIVE [GRIN]

aprilmeadow · 01/05/2007 08:34

LW - that makes me so when people just sit and watch - i had to bite my tongue yesterday because inside i was screaming to say something! Strangely it always seems to be the elderly that offer their seats to mums to be.

Where is SOH? I hope she isnt still stuck in that Cow jam.... or maybe she is holding Mathilda???

AbbyLou · 01/05/2007 09:12

Morning all, well ds is deposited with the childminder, dh is at work and I have the WHOLE DAY to myself - bliss! Now, which room am I going to clean first? lol. Glad you all had fun at the London meet-up - TYG you've got some stamina girl, well done on all the shopping. Walking to the end of the road is about enough for me right now. I too feel so at people who don't give up their seats on public transport. We went into Nottingham on the Park and Tram last Friday and loads of people offered me a seat when I got on, my faith in human nature was restored.
Well I spent another night last night convinced everything was going to kick off and then it didn't. We had another power cut but it only lasted half an hour this time. I had the most horrendous pains in my back coming every ten minutes. Then they swapped to my tummy and I thought I was getting somewhere. I was going to the loo every half an hour and was unable to sleep. However, sometime around 4am I must have fallen asleep and I woke up again at about 6am with no pain.
Let's see what today brings!

megandsoph · 01/05/2007 09:23

Morning! Thanks for all the welcomes!!

Have you had a section before LG&T?? Its one of my greatest fears at the mo, having a section

LBL Wow! What a que jump LOL hope you and babe are doing ok??

MKG hope your ok xx

aprilmeadow · 01/05/2007 09:32

Hi Meg&Soph - forgot to say welcome in my previous messages

megandsoph · 01/05/2007 09:42

Hi Aprilmeadow

I can't belive how fast these threads move its hard to keep up LOL

Ooooh AbbeyLou sounds promising

largeginandtonic · 01/05/2007 09:43

May.....surely not

MKG hope you are feeling ok today. Your free stuff sounds fab! We get poxy Bounty bags here but they are naff. Tiny freebies of washing powder, useful....

DRPINK!!!! oh please come and post, i know the baby was breech last time you were on here. Hope it all went ok, cant wait to hear all about it.

Toomanyprojects where are you too? Anyone would think you'd just had a baby and atre too busy to post Again, Victoria Jane, good name LOL

TYG were these boots gold leafed? Lucky dad you have. I just love the baby clothes in boots, they are quite traditional sometimes and i love the stripey stuff too. You are clearly bonkers having to carry it all and then get back on the bus\train. Why do we do these things when we know we really shouldnt?!

Im having a quite day today, just some light cleaning Feel so tired and even more nervous about not making it to next week. I remembered last night (in hours of insomnia) that i had an early scan with dd that gave me her due date but not with the others. I had an early scan this time too and they changed my due date to 13th from 3rd. DD was the only one to come on time Calm.....calm.....calm......

Jonah (ds#3) has gone on his school trip today, i always feel nervous when they do that. Sure it will be fine and the sun is blazing here, i smothered him in factor 40+ but they wont put sun cream on them Something about child abuse?! Bonkers rules these days.

Are you all recovered from your little thread trip yesterday?

largeginandtonic · 01/05/2007 09:46

I had an awful emergency section with the twins at 29 weeks MegandSoph. I am resigned to the section now having tried my hardest for the last 3 births to avoid the hospital, but am really worried about it being another emergency. The last baby came in 40 minutes Breech babies can come faster

It will all be fine.....

SKYTVADDICT · 01/05/2007 09:58

Hi all

Congrats TMP and Drgpink and welcome megandsoph.

Very jealous now as I am still here and waiting. Have an appointment with consultant on Thursday. Hopefully he will do a membrane sweep then but its a long weekend so don't really know - he may suggest waiting another week. I will only be 6 days overdue then.

Pains I had yesterday disappeared by tea time and I have not too bad a night but still feeling tired today.

Going to do some housework. Glad the meet up went well.

aprilmeadow · 01/05/2007 09:58

The postman has been!! I have two parcels. The first is a selection of early baby clothes including 2 pairs of tights - i so want Ella to be in clothes rather than sleep suits but everything is just so big! - they are tiny

LG&T - Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Fudge has just arrived :-) Now do i tell dh that it is here???

Have to agree with the Bounty bags being naff! I think i got about 3 different types of washing powder that each did 3 washes. 1 size 1 nappy, loads of crappy leaflets about various baby related things. Most useful thing was the child benefit form!

elkiedee · 01/05/2007 09:59

nearly everyone who offered me a seat on the way to and from work on the tube was a woman over 50. My mum wasn't surprised either. One who wasn't had a kid on her lap, and I said no thanks, but that time the person opposite was shamed into offering me her seat instead so all worked out well. But the 20 somethings and the football fans, catch them offering seats to anyone.

I'm crashing from the April thread, since I'm still waiting, sigh (baby was due on 24/4). But I'm due to go into the hospital at 7 pm tomorrow and be induced.

megandsoph · 01/05/2007 10:06

Oh LG&T What a nightmare Sorry you didn't get your homebirths. My BF had an elective CS with her second and she said it was great as it was all calm and she knew everything that was going on, Like yourself she had a emergancy CS with her eldest and said it was awful.

With dd1 I almost ended up with an emergency section, as dd just wanted to stay in there my mother insisted that they try other ways first (bless her) and ended up with a spinal (after failed epidural) and forceps. DD2 was so much better although still ended up being induced but she flew out as she wss tiny.

aprilmeadow · 01/05/2007 10:07

Elkiedee - naughty baby for keeping you waiting! Sending lots of strong labour vibes to you

InTheseShoes · 01/05/2007 10:09

Hello all! Welcome to our new babies and congratulations to new mummies drgpink and TooManyProjects! Waay-heey for May!

Been to the hospital this morning and had a check over, the baby is still "average" size and - get this - 2/5 engaged! Huzzah! So, as my BP and urine are ok, they are letting me go for the VBAC. Once I get to my due date then the party's over, as I have an appointment on the 29th May to arrange a section, which should be sometime that week, i.e., last possible date: 1st June. I'm happy with that as it means that I have an "end" to it all. I really want a May baby though, so if it gets to that stage, then I will be putting my foot down for a 30th/31st section not a 1st June. Need to be seen by the midwife each week as well between now and then.

megandsoph - welcome!

aprilmeadow · 01/05/2007 10:12

ITS - thats great news, will keep fingers crossed that you get your VBAC!!

Come on ladies who's next?????

Sky - again another naughty baby! Lots of strong labour vibes to you as well!!

Jess - if you are still watching the May threads, please let us know how you are and if you have bubs in arms yet.

Pebblemum · 01/05/2007 10:14

Abbylou - i understand how you must be feeling today having woken up to no pains/twinges.

I was having regular mild contractions yesterday from about 2pm right up until bed. I was so sure they meant things were going to kick off soon. I even started stuffing my face with pineapple, drinking lots of raspberry leaf tea (and i hate the stuff so i must be desperate), and double checked my hospital bag (got worried id left something important out, i hadnt). I went to bed still feeling hopeful only to wake up at 5.30am feeling fine, no pains and so i engaged dh in a bit of nipple stimulation and rumpy pumpy but that hasnt worked either. Guess i should resign myself to the fact that i could have several weeks of this before bubs decided to show her face.

largeginandtonic · 01/05/2007 10:15

I cant moan really MegandSoph, i managed 3 homebirths after the twins section. I was almost linched by stroppy consultants each time though! It is just so disappointing to have to go back to hospital for the last baby

Eilkidee are you nervous or ridiculously excited? I will be excited for you If MrsJB comes on later she will rave about her induction with her dd, she loved it so much she is going for another this time!

SKYTV i hope he gives you a sweep, it might be all you need to get you going. If he wont i can tell you (or your dh) how to self sweep........ It is possible, and hysterical. Especially if you come back on later and tell us all about it.

elkiedee · 01/05/2007 10:33

I'm petrified. I screeched enough during my internal exam yesterday, hate to think what birth will be like (first timer), and I burst into tears at the end of the appointment, with a doctor whom I hadn't seen before. I would have preferred to at least go through all that with a familiar face.

juliewoolie · 01/05/2007 10:34

Can we add me to the list too. EDD 28 May, surprise.

Feels like the home stretch now we are in May. Congrats to all who have popped early and the rest of us hang on in there not long to go.

scootermum · 01/05/2007 10:35

DH has just bought me up the post (hes working from home today)..THANKYOU for my parcel largegandt-you are so lovely!DH is laughing at me because it actually made me cry how nice you are...Thankyou!!(and bump and Hugs look great too-will try to do mne today)

Meet up yesterday was grand..So nice to meet everyone..Ella is gorgeous..and soooo tiny..And April looks amazing-when I had DD I dont think I even managed to brush my hair for weeks never mind look so nice AND get in to London!

That was some shop TYG, blimey..I didnt make it to Oxford st in the end but had a poke around down the Angel and went into Gap again for a few bits..(quite a few bits really if Im being honest!)Met friends for tea, some from work who I missed when I left-they gave me such lovely presents I couldnt believe it-vouchers for a spa in Brighton, (so we can all go when I go down for the weekend after Mae comes), flowers, chocolates, baby clothes from the organic baby shop, and a lovely bottle of pink champers for when the baby comes...ate a huge tea as well, so no apetite loss for me-all I did yesterday was eat really...

When do you finish work Pink?I dont know how you are doing it!

Feel a bit tired today but as DD still at nans, lying in bed with laptop and just considering getting up-have midwife this aft and am going to be very firm with her as I have lots of questions for her and today I want some answers from her!

I went through a phase where I wanted to bite people and myself for a while apparently when I was about 3, Mrs JB..My Mum says its quite common? And my friends twins have jsut started doing it-17 months-but we think they are just testing out all their new teeth..Im just waiting for Lily to start at it, as she is already a paddy thrower extrodanaire! (o dear I do miss her at the moment )

CONGRATULATIONS on our two new babys! And now its May at last, (how did that happen already?!)Thinking of all those due soon now-SKY next I reckon unless..

..Cor I wonder if SOH has decided to be the first May delivery?

Counting down the days with you now lwatkins-your bloody flatmates..grrr

Hosp in US does sound lovely MKG-baby in nursery at night you say?!

Better get up now I suppose-going to get a few plants to stick in pots this morn, so they can come with us when we move...survey on our new house showed up some potential damp, but only in the garage so not so worried-we will need a damp report is all to see how bad it is..no news from the survey on ours yet, ominous..

I like the thread title by the way!Very apropriate especially as the weather is so nice and everything seems to be budding and leafing madly!

Pannacotta · 01/05/2007 10:40

Hello all, haven't posted on here before, was directed here from a pregnancy thread!
My DD is 12 May (or 17th if my dates are right) so not long to go now...
Wanted to ask if anyone else had suddenly got bad lower back pain in the last couple of weeks before giving birth?
No such trouble last time round, but suddenly my lower back is really sore and stiff, not good prep for my planned home birth...

ShowOfHands · 01/05/2007 10:41

Coming soon to a MN board near you: "ShowOfHands and The Most Ridiculous Comedy Of Errors Known to Pregnant Women". With starring roles from an irate husband, a MIL, a dazed and confused post office worker, various cows, a stupid ticket man, a broken cashpoint, the numpty who drove into the central reservation, three gingerbread men and the SOH herself.

Great news on the babies, congrats to both of you and megandsoph, lovely to have you back.

Gotta run, in Cambridge today (that's the nearest we got to London!) and will be back later tonight. Mathilda's still in situ, her mother is having a nervous breakdown though.

I'm going farking punting and if I give birth on the Cam it'll be a fitting finale to the joke that is me trying to do anything of interest.
