I hope this works! Here is a new thread as the old one was getting v long.
I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

Hi all!
Am back now.

Had a lovely relaxing week at my parents. Just slept most of the time
Feel a bit more rested now but still really tired, if that makes sense lol.

I dont think I have a chance on catching up over the last week but I'll try

Hope your all well.

jinxed · 28/05/2007 08:06

Morning all!

Sorry, have had dad here over the weekend, and we had some bad news on friday night, so have kept a low profile.

My week will be spent running dad to the airport and picking him up again, and spending time with the girls while its half term.

Hope you are all ok. 14 weeks today - time flies!

Loucee · 28/05/2007 10:46

Welcome back NGB, yes I related to the rested but still tired feeling!

Jinxed - you seem so much further on than me, I'm jealous!! I'm 11wks tomorrow but can't help but try and wish away these early wks (bad I know).

I've got a stinking cold, went to the pharmacist who told me there's nothing I can take really as a) I'm pregnant and b) I'm breastfeeding DD, so paracetomol it is.

Had my highlights done yesterday, it felt great! The hairdresser was really chatty but I couldn't bring myself to tell her I was pregnant (not until 12wk scan) so went along with her "wont it be great to get home and have a glass of wine"!

Welcome Anony and Louise (and anyone else I've missed)

Hope everyone has a nice bankholiday

Lucy

Loucee · 28/05/2007 10:47

Sorry that was meant to be Welcome back Nbg not NGB

skidaddle · 28/05/2007 10:52

morning everyone!

have you noticed how we seem to post less now we are all near to (or past) the 12 week mark and most of us have had scans confirming all is OK? Thank gooodness for that - we can stopp worrying and start blooming!

Dp is back from his granny's funeral in Ireland - it is so good to have him back, especially as he can get up in the night with dd now .

Beachbunni and Lizzer - great news about your scans - i found it a bit of an anticlimax as well - never happy are we?!

mad4girls- glad every one took the news well - very sweet about your dd telling you the hug was for the baby, bless

Nbg - welcome home, glad you're feeling rested

Welcome anonymama and louise

skidaddle · 28/05/2007 10:57

Louise - i think being terrified of the birth is very common and natural, and I think most people tend to get less and less scared as time goes on and the pregnancy progresses, until you get to the stage when you just want that baby out and you don't care how! It might be best to wait a while before reading about labour and looking at pics if you're feeling very nervous but it will definitely help to be as informed as possible when the time comes.

If it's any consolation, although it's painful, I, and a lot of others I know, did not find labour scary. It hurts like hell but it is not a scary pain which made it bearable. I don't know if others would second that but I found that to be the one thing that got me through it.

And I know everyone says this and I found it highly irritating when i was pg first time round but it is TRUE - once you have your little baby in your arms you really do forget all about the birth and it just becomes one day which is nothing compared to a lifetime with your child. I know that is irritating but I promise you it is true and you will probably be saying the same to someone who is pg a year from now!!

Lizzer · 28/05/2007 11:46

Hello all,
Yeah skid, its funny how now we're getting to feel a bit more 'normal' 'cept for the tight jeans, we're not as keen to post. I think there is a bit of a lull because it feels like we're just waiting to start showing off out bumps soon - hurry up lo, grow, grow!!!

Also does everyone think it would be wise to open a new thread soon as this is getting mamothian ?? (bit like myself, eh!) And its been a month now

(Lizzer whispers, I'll do it if no-one minds?)

skidaddle · 28/05/2007 12:16

Go for it Lizzer, was thinking the same... and if you know how to do a link to it too that would be good

Lizzer · 28/05/2007 12:37

Ok this is the first time I've used the new link method so I'll see if it works for me...

Easy peasy!

Sorry I was a couple of days early with the June thing by the way, just liked the rhyme

BunnyBaby · 30/05/2007 18:36

Hi guys, I'm new on here! Haven't been posting as didn't want to get caught prior to 12 week mark at work :-)

We had our 12 week scan privately last Thursday which was amazing. Does anyone else live in Greater London and has noticed the stretch on NHS services?

The local rumour is my hospital Hillingdon is so skint that it is only offering 20 week scans to women. From what I gather Ealing and Hexham Park have closed their doors to new mums so the whole world is coming to Hillingdon. Hence we had to book private scan.

Having watched Panorama, we have opted to enlist the services of an independent midwife, and all being well have a waterbirth at home (far, far away from Hillingdon). Fingers crossed pregnancy continues to progress normally!

Have also turned into a carb junkie, but so far 3lbs lighter than pre-pregnancy, but all clothes tight!

Looking forwards to getting to know everyone better between now and Christmas :-)

Hi everyone - I'm new here! You seem like a nice bunch so I thought I'd have a chat and see if I could make some new friends!

I'm 41, with first pregnancy - due on December 29th (according to latest scan that is!)

I've also just moved to Leeds (well, about 6 weeks ago) and don't really know anybody outside of work. Have also been keeping pg to self and DP until 12 week mark, so have been struggling to hide sickness/tiredness/belly from everyone!

I'm booked in for a Nuchal Trans Scan next week - bit worried 'coz of age etc. Has anyone been through this that can offer any advice?

;o)

Caz10 · 08/06/2007 18:39

Hi Flipadeedoodah! Come on over to our new due in Dec thread - something to do with blooming in June! (can't remember the exact name of the thread).
There a few ladies there who have been or are going for the nuchal. Good luck!

OP posts:
tabimum · 12/06/2007 08:46

Can I join too please? Have been watching the thread for a few weeks now - but didnt want to post until after 12 week scan (had it last Fri and all well). Baby due 27th Dec (already have DD 13 months).

Anonymama · 12/06/2007 20:29

Had a nuchal scan with my first, at 34, and will pay an extortionate amount again to have one at 36. (Can't understand why these aren't offered alongside the dating scan between 11-13 wks? Am I being cynical in thinking that it's seen as some sort of money-spinner?)

Feel in some ways that it opens a whole can of worms (e.g. if the results suggest a high possibility of Downs or other chromosomal problems, then you have the heartache of deciding whether to take further, more invasive tests), but will cross that bridge if we come to it, and would rather have the fullest picture possible. Of course, none of these tests are 100% (apart from amnio or CVS), so you have to have a bit of "che sarà" attitude anyway.

First time round I was more excited at having another peek at baby that the serious side of the Nuchal scan sort of passed me by. When the sonographer came back with her results sheet I did feel my heart hit my throat, and felt like it was the most important exam I'd ever sat in my life. This time I think I am more nervous about it, but just resigning myself to the "cross that bridge if and when" philosophy.

Good luck with your scan, let us know how you get on.

Anonymama · 12/06/2007 20:30

PS sorry, that was sort of addressed to Flipadeedoodah, not some sort of random musings.

Katieb01 · 19/06/2007 21:16

Bunny Baby, I just read your note about watching Panorama and deciding to enlist the services of an independent midwife. This is really interesting and I'm very curious. Can I ask how it is working out for you? My first experince of my local midwide was not enormously positive. He had a very long list of women to see and too little time to squeeze it all in. Although my partner and I have discussed the private option, I've not encountered anyone who has tried it. How are you finding it?
