I hope this works! Here is a new thread as the old one was getting v long.
I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

Loucee · 21/05/2007 18:09

Hi everyone

Yikes, don't like all this talk of mice! We get loads of field mice in our wheely bin and often find dead ones in old plant pots that have filled with rainwater but hope I don't get them indoors!

Skidaddle have you got a new due date? It's bizarre how looking back at the cycle you conceived wouldn't meant you got AF 3 days later but perhaps the egg took longer to get fertilised and to implant?

Enjoyed a lovely sunny day today with girls I know from having DD, lovely seeing our littleones playing with each other (sort of!) and made me think ahead to next summer when (hopefully) DC#2 will be out doors sitting/crawling and DD can play with them

Does anyone know about breaststroke? Aren't pg women meant to avoid that stroke in swimming? I am crap at crawl and so at present do a bizarre breaststroke arms with crawl legs!

Niks · 21/05/2007 18:40

Loucee,
I swam the whole time with DD and am doing the same through this pg and my most comfortable stroke is breast stroke. Have never heard about it being bad for baby... I am a competitive swimmer and really go for it - when I was pg with dd I was racing along in the fast lane. Hope there isn't proof to the contrary but as far as my experience goes I'd say it is a-ok.

Loucee · 21/05/2007 21:21

Hi Niks

I just did a google search about the breaststroke as I couldn't remember why I'd heard not to it. this site says it's best to avoid as pelvic ligaments are softer and more prone to injury during pregnancy. Hmm think I'll just see how I go and take it easy. I remember with DD I asked if I could still run the 5k and was told I could carry on doing whatever I am used to! (just a note before you all get the wrong idea of me, running the 5k is just a description no way I could run it I'd be walking!).

Housemum · 21/05/2007 23:23

Loucee - glad you said you'd be walking! I'm signed up for Race for Life with DD1 next month - have told her to run as fast as she likes and I'll see her at the end as I amble round with the old ladies! (We never used to run it anyway -always been a fast walk/jog in the past but it still raises money anyway)

Niks · 22/05/2007 08:57

OOH - don;t like the sound of an overstretched pubic bone .
Made me a bit queasy thinking about it... I'll make sure I take it easy then - thanks for the info. I just can't really do much else - front crawl knackers me out in about 2 minutes and I look ungainly in back crawl. Never mind - I think the minute I get into a swimming costume I give up the posibility of looking elegant so why worry about my ungainly back stroke!!?

becklespeckledfrog · 22/05/2007 10:50

Hi all! Hope everyone okay. Just did the predictor chart thingy and it tells me I'm having a girl this time! Mind you, it said that DS1 was also a girl so will keep an open mind on that one...
Skidaddle, your wedding plans sound lovely!
Awen I am 8+5 and not as nauseous as I was, also boobs are still big and tender but not as rock-like as they were or as sore. I think it is fairly usual for symptoms to come and go, I think we just get used to some of them - still makes me panic though!

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 11:05

Skidaddle - keeping quiet with the names

Beckle - am now feeling ick .. u r right they do come and go. Feel kinda relieved to feel ick now. Thinki need to eat more!!

Just thought I would pop back here as missing you all. Jan thread is super dooper tho How are you all with you more advanced pregnancies ..

xx

thelady · 22/05/2007 12:42

Carpal Tunnel:

The US site www.nih.gov is good (you need to search for the thing you're interested in) for most medical info.

Shagging:

Orgasm is good for tadpoles - increases blood flow where it's needed! Tell your DH that he may abstain if he chooses, but he shouldn't require you to do so as well!! Girl on top leads to shallower penetration anyway, so much lesser chance of hitting the cervix and causing (harmless but scary) bleeding.

Other stuff:

Got my scan date. Tuesday 29th May so I'll be 13 weeks. Amazingly, that is DH's one day a week off work, so we'll both be able to go together. This is good, as driving with a full bladder for half an hour on country roads is not my idea of fun....

Feeling a lot better now too: very little icky-ness as long as I remember to eat regularly. The need for sleep hasn't diminished all that much, but that could be a result of a mad-busy weekend here at the hotel too.

Hope you are all doing well, and getting some of the wonderful sunshine we're enjoying in the Borders.

bambino1 · 22/05/2007 12:59

Hi all. I'm having a nightmare at the mo! All day yest I had sickness so fil had munchkin and I spent day in bed. Today is meant to be my day off but had to go into work as we are so short staffed and now most of the kids including dd have either sickness and dihorrea (can't spell it!!!!), chicken pox or shingles. Just a nightmare. The nursery was practically illness free until I got preg and now all of sudden everything seems to be cropping up! Typical!
I was sick loads yest and now have tummy cramps and back pain which is worrying me a bit but waiting to see if it passes!

Skiddale: I am 10+3 so we must be due in the same week!
It is amazing to say we only have 30 weeks to go!!!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 22/05/2007 13:33

I am feeling mega depressed right now

Just been for bridesmaid dress fitting for wedding on June 23rd and it didnt fit

Well, it did, only just but was very tight and uncomfortable.

I have 5 weeks more growth to do before the wedding and its just not going to work.

Feel like such an enormous moose

Katieb01 · 22/05/2007 14:32

Hello everyone, I'm also due in December. I'm 32, eight weeks gone and this is my first. I've recently been to see my midwife. He didn't seem that keen on my idea of trying for a home birth. Is this usual practice?

skidaddle · 22/05/2007 14:50

Oh pecka, don't feel bad - you are just pregnant, not enormous - of course you won't fit into a dress measured pre-pg - can you get it altered?

Loucee and bambino - new due date is 11th december (was 7th) - think I had calculated it all wrong and actually it all makes sense now when your due date bambino? We might be screaming in agony at exactly the same time!!!

Loucee - I am sure it OK to do breaststroke (completely uninformed reply) - I hate the way they say you can carry on exercise as normal in pregnancy, except no contact sports, and oh yes no breaststroke, and also no sit ups, or weights, or horse riding, or... aaaaggghhh I just want to do some proper exercise!!!

thelady - absolutely agree that shagging is good for you when pg (and always) but come dd's bedtime all I want to do put on my jimjams and watch Corrie!!!

skidaddle · 22/05/2007 14:51

Hi katie,
Congrats and although this might be common practice, you should absolutely go for a homebirth if that is what you want. I think a lot of mws see it as extra hassle but if you want one you have a right to one. Good luck!

dundeemarmalade · 22/05/2007 15:27

hello everybody.
had dating scan today and now have revised edd date of 18th dec, making me exactly 10 wks today. so relieved as i thought they would add on at least a week, and i've been sooo looking forward to the end of feeling sick all the time. anyway, all looks fine and am mighty relieved. phew.
found out yesterday that another of my sisters in law is pregnant: at the moment there are 3 of us up the duff, all due about 6 wks apart from each other with me in the middle. christmas is going to be exciting...
i suspect mil of voodoo or something. she was dropping heavy hints last xmas about how lovely it would be if we all had babies this year. hmmmmmm.

bambino1 · 22/05/2007 16:38

I'm due on 16th but haven't had first scan yet so thats not for sure!
I'm not feeling right today. You know when you feell there is something just not right! Not sure how to explain it just not right. I've still got two weeks to wait for scan and i'm going to go mad with worry until I see the baby. I know its only natural to feel like this but its getting me down.

Caz10 · 22/05/2007 17:30

Scan today saw a little heartbeat hooray! The lady doing it wasn't very pleasant and seemed genuinely bemused when I asked if it was ok! I have been panicking for weeks waiting to get to today and to be honest it was a bit of an anticlimax! But I am just so relieved heart was beating!!
This is my 1st so everything is very much scary and mysterious!
Beanstermum you were today too, hope it all went well??
Dundeemarmalade just realised you were today too, it's pretty cool seeing it on screen eh?!
Congrats to everyone recently joined!!
I am officially 12th Dec now not 11th. But dates were spot on other than that.

Ohhh I wish I had the energy to do breaststroke...or have sex!!

OP posts:
skidaddle · 22/05/2007 18:41

great news caz and dundee - I found it a real anticlimax as well caz, in fact I burst into tears as soon as we got outside but a three course meal in a lovely restaurant to celebrate cheered me up a bit

bambino - I know it is so hard not to worry, especially when everyone else on here is having their scans and know they're OK. I know you've got a while to wait but try not to worry as impossible as that may be and hope you feel better soon x

fifisworld · 22/05/2007 20:49

Hello everyone

I hvent been able to get on here for ages. I've been doing a full time training course though work which has killed me as i normally only do 4 hours a day.
Well done to everyone who's had scan's. Mines 2 weeks today i cant wait.

I have found that my sickness has suddenly stopped over the past week, i havent been sick at all and hardly feel sickly. So now im really really worried that theres something wrong.
Did anyones else's sickness just stop??
Please reassure me and tell me im being stupid

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 21:32

fifsworld - my sickness has stopped too 7+3 here - have been reassured by other mumnetters that they have had same and all been fine, or they have had same and then sickness comes back again. I understand the worrying (I have been too but am reassured by other mums experiences).

becklespeckledfrog · 22/05/2007 22:07

Congrats on your scans Caz and Dundee! Glad they went well! Can't wait for my next one, will be so relieved to know baby is still okay.
Pecka, don't feel bad about your size, enjoy it! My boobs don't fit into half of my clothes and my waist has gone. DH giggled earlier and told me I was getting fat! Sod.
Bambino, I know just how you feel but I am sure your baby is fine. I am in a bit of a state at the moment with worry, convinced all the time that something has gone/will go wrong - it is perfectly normal to feel this way but it definitely does get you down. I am not much fun to be around in RL at the mo!
Fifi, again try not to worry, you are at the stage where it will all start to settle down now so it is natural to start feeling a bit better.

insywinsyspider · 22/05/2007 22:35

hi everyone

well i've booked myself in for a private scan because although I've been having some spotting its not enough to warrent an early scan and I go on holiday for my weeks 12-13 and I can't get my dating scan done before then it has to be EPU who said wait and see - I got really frustrated and booked one for next week so at least we'll know baby is ok before we go abroad

on a more positive note I had booking in app and midwife was really positive about a home birth! very pleased

also I get full pay for another year on mat leave which is so amazing, just need to see baby is ok to complete the picture!

on the swimming note I did swimming training (about 6km a week) until 37 weeks last time - I did struggle with breast stroke and back stroke though but think that was more to do with my bouyancy

sorry I can't read all your posts - way to long

skidaddle · 23/05/2007 08:25

fifi, my sickness suddenly stopped too and I was petrified I would have amissed mc but al was fine and scan showed baby healthy and well. Sorry to say that sickness is also back so it may just be temporary with you too. Hard not to worry I know but as awen says it happens to a lot of us and al is fine.

insy - brilliant news about your hb - am very !

Ambi · 23/05/2007 09:30

Hiya Girlies,

On a bit of high after my scan yesterday. (copy on my profile if you can make it out)
Little baba wouldn't stay still and was jumping and moving arms and legs all over the place. It was over really quick, though I was gonna pee myself and I couldn't really see properly, without doing an exorcist neck twisting job (Mr Ambi could though and was amazed)

I've emailed everyone I know with the photo now, (they're probably completely uninterested, but what the hell, it's my first!!!)

They've put me at 11+5, a week ahead of where I thought I was bringing my EDD (at the mo) to 6th Dec, but I'm going back a 14 weeks for another dating scan to confirm (woohoo extra free scan! can't wait)

Hope you're feeling better soon bambino

skidaddle · 23/05/2007 09:35

ooh Ambi, how exciting - know what you mean about the not being able to concentrate for needing to wee so much - think i might have overdone the full bladder a bit...

And great to be put FORWARD - we seem to almost always be put back. So you will def have your baby before Christmas, how exciting
