I hope this works! Here is a new thread as the old one was getting v long.
I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

my word there is A LOT of us!

Caz10 · 24/05/2007 18:34

beanstermum I am so glad the Nuffield went well. Our NHS one was pretty crappy too, I think she spent less than one minute actually scanning me, certainly wasn't the rosy glowing moment I had imagined. Still can't decide about the Nuffield, although I need to make a decision very very soon! What is the outside range for the nuchal, is it 14 weeks?

beachbunni good luck with your scan! The woman who did ours couldn't seem to understand why I'd been worried, I just don't see how you COULDN'T be worried!! Didn't sleep much the night before either.

Is anyone's sickness wearing off? Mine is not, and I have NO energy - this has been a long 11 weeks!

Hi everyone

Jinxed - have you been on the thread before and changed your name?

Beanster - Glad your scans went well, even if NHS was as delightful as a thick black rain cloud!

Please someone stop me - I can't stop feeding myself! I am really podgy now and no matter how hard I try I just cannot face healthy foods.

Hope everyone has a nice bank holiday weekend

Lucy

thelady · 24/05/2007 20:56

Drove all the way to Newcastle (120 mile round trip) to try and buy some clothes.

Mothercare didn't have any trousers over a size 16 that weren't "full term" shaped, and everywhere else seemed to be a 1970's rerun nightmare of orange, brown, acid-green and op-art.

Feeling very grumpy and a little down. I needed new trousers, as mine are getting uncomfortable and can't be worn unbuttoned in the pub (can you imagine!), and all Mothercare could suggest was mail order.

Next is meant to be decent for maternity wear, so once I'm feeling less pissed off with the whole shopping lark, I shall dig out the directory.

I hate shopping!!

BeachBunni · 24/05/2007 22:59

Thanks Caz10. I know I'm stupid to worry but you can't help it, can you. You hear all these horror stories. Hopefully I'll have a nicer sonographer than yours and some happy news tomorrow.

the lady, I know what you mean about trousers. I have a funeral to go to on Mondayand so went to double check that any of my black trousers still fitted me. Not a bloody one! I can't do any of the waist's up. I'm so cheesed off. I hate shopping and will now have to spend tomorrow afternoon looking for the most boring item you have in your wardrobe.

jinxed · 25/05/2007 08:07

yes sorry, PLEASE dont out me x

Loucee · 25/05/2007 09:05

Thelady - clothes shopping is awful, last time with DD I only enjoyed it when I was 7 months pregnant and all the maternity stuff fitted well and I wasn't hoisting up trousers etc. My sister asked me and DH to be godparents last night - the Christening isin August down south - aggghhh how will I cope with the heat and find something nice to wear?! (I've turned soft living up North of the Border and got used to cooler climates!).

Sometimes you can get good maternity wear on Ebay, my friend is a size 16 and bought a lot on there.

Jinxed - no worries, wont say a word

sorry to moan but have got a rotten cold now, it's reminding me how when I was pg with DD I seemed to catch every cold and bug going !

How's everyone doing today?

Kitsilano · 25/05/2007 11:23

Hello all

I haven't posted much on here for a while but I'm still here and wanted to let you know that I had my nuchal scan yesterday. All great! And after blood tests and nuchal measurement etc the risk of Downs is 1:3750 which is apparently the risk of a 15 year old (I'm 36 so it's a long time since anything about me resembled a 15 year old!!)

Very happy and excited now as it feels like we have reached a real milestone.

Good luck to all

Kits

BeachBunni · 25/05/2007 17:03

Well had my scan today and everything is a-ok. Without sounding like a moaning minnie, it was all a bit of an anti-climax. I've seen some friends 12 wk scan photos and they are fantastic - really clear. I could hardly make anything out - just looked like a grey blob. Felt like Rachel from Friends in that episode where she keeps losing the baby in the scan. It hardly moved at all, just one little jump where you could see it's legs.
I'll stop whinging now and count my blessings.

evening all, updated my edd to 13th Dec(sticking to lmp date that mw gave me at booking in app till scan tells me otherwise)

can anyone recommend some work maternity trousers that will hide the bump? (looks like we're struggling to find good clothes!) last time i was desperate to show off bump this time i don't want to tell my line manager just yet... so suggestions for tops would help too! am size 12-14

macdoodle · 25/05/2007 20:57

dd with her dad tonight having bit of panic now - scared being pg scared of childbirth (didn't do it well last time) scared of new baby (again nappies bf sleepless nights)....
don't know whats gonna happen with dh was hard enough last time he is selfish twat and this time he will have so much more to prove and OW baby will be on scene -oh dear feel selfish and ungrateful but really really scared reality hitting now

Anonymama · 25/05/2007 20:58

You can add me on. New Year's Eve - will there be any medics who aren't paralytic that evening??

8.5 wks and feeling sick as a dog & very, very tired. DS1 doesn't make allowances for knackered old mama...

In a bit of vicious circle: can't think of anything to eat that I actually want - but have to eat to stave off queasiness. So, eating lots of convenience lard and feeling worse...

Anonymama · 25/05/2007 21:00

Macdoodle.
Sorry to hear you feeling so anxious. Anyone who has done it before probably has the same worries that you do too. Once you've had the first kid, the Comfort-softness fantasy soon evaporates. But however hard it is, the feelings you have for your child gets you through, and you will feel the same way about your new baby.

Take it one day at a time. All the best.

Housemum · 26/05/2007 09:19

InsyWinsy - I saw something called "early term" trousers in the Mothercare catalogue - plain black trousers, designed for early pregnancy and afterwards when you are too small for the big maternity stuff but aren't back to your old clothes - don't know if they'd be any use, I intend to have a nose there this weekend. They do some jeans like that too.

I've bought some of the trendy smock-tops that are in New Look etc - cheap and fashionable. I would never have bought them if i wasn't pregnant, but having tried on a couple I really like them now!

Housemum · 26/05/2007 09:26

MacDoodle - if you get scared about the birth, do talk to your midwife. Have you got a close friend with babies? Someone who you could talk about your fears to? Maybe even someone who could be a birth partner? You are in a v tricky situation - try to keep smiling!

DH sounds difficult - do you think he would be receptive to setting some "ground rules" nearer the time? Such as he agrees for the first x weeks to cook dinner without being asked, or takes the children out for an hour or so at the weekend for a walk to let you sleep? Sometimes, it's easy to drift into arguments because perhaps something needs doing, neither of you does it and you start niggling at each other - if things are pre-arranged, it's less likely to start rows?

Housemum · 26/05/2007 09:27

And hello to Anonymama!!

Louise76 · 26/05/2007 09:49

Hello everyone,

Can I join this thread? I've been looking at this site for a couple of weeks now but never posted anything. My due date is 14th Dec and this is my first baby. To be honest it is still sinking in that I'm pregnant and I am happy about it now that I have had time to get used to it. My hubby is over the moon! Most days I don't feel any different and wonder if I've imagined the whole thing but other days I feel sick (mainly in the evenings). My booking appointment is on 6th June and it can't come soon enough as I really want to tell everyone but not until I know everything is OK. I'm such a worrier and I find this site so reassuring so thanks to everyone for their invaluable advice and information! I know I'm a bit early to be panicking about the birth but I'm terrified that it is going to be the most awful experience of my life and that I might die during it - irrational I know! I've never felt particularly maternal before now and know nothing about babies! I suppose I'll have to learn quickly. Does anyone else feel like that or is it just me?!

bambino1 · 26/05/2007 11:59

Hi all, welcome Louise! Don't worry about your feelings. They are completely natural. You can learn so much from just this site! I always use it.

Well i'm 11 weeks today! seems to be going quick in some respects but it seems that I have known forever too! Week monday will be my scan! Doesn't sound so long away now and next week is a short week so I will be there before I know it!

Bloods came back that I am immune to chicken pox and shingles so I don't need to worry about picking it up. which is a weight of my mind.

My friend was due last week and spent last night having contraction 15mins apart! All very exciting but scary to think I'm going to be going through it all again!!!!

Lizzer · 26/05/2007 13:47

Hello All, I've seen the blob, -it moves, it's got a heartbeat and dp and dd were soooo excited to see it. I was less so but I think it's cos I know whcih way its gotta come out I am so different this pg than the first time round, enjoying it now the sickness has gone but not as completely bowled over by it (I think this isn't bad thing as I'm calmer, but annoying as everything isn't so shiny and new as it was 1st time round..)

I am totally going back on my word to not crave as much baby stuff though - I was going to get a maclaren buggy this time from birth as can't be bothered with a pram contraption that takes up your entire hall and car boot..... That is until I saw the bugaboo!!!!! I am a woman obsessed! Anyone else got the bug (if you'll pardon the expression!?)

Macdoodle I am right there with you at the moment, keeping thinking about the upheavel and forgetting how much you love the little shouty things non the less

Bambino, good news about your immunity.

Yeah housemum, this IS the year of the smock - thank heavens for little things like that (undo your jeans when sitting down, no one can see - genius)

Hi Louise76, I feel completely non-maternal this time round but did loads with dd, I think everyone's different and not to worry, and welcome to the threa!

mad4girls · 26/05/2007 19:18

hello ladies
sorry not been around went to dd2 dads dad if you see what i mean. (she doesnt see dad but sees grandad and step gran and her brood of 4)

anyway told my grandma and my mum earlier in week and aunty yesterday (was expecting really bad response because 3rd child 3rd dad) but they were really pleased
and seem excited

also told the kids on thursday even they are really excited and dd2 (thats the one who claimed to hate babies last week) has suddenly done a U turn fussing over me, helping by tidying up and keeps kissing my belly gave me a cuddle just now i gave one back and she said no mum thaqts just for baby (how sweet)

anyway she keeps asking when is it coming, explained its near to santa coming after dd1 bday(22ndnov) and she said why so i said its a bit like a cake i have to cook/grow it in the oven till its ready.
dd2 turned round with the classic comment "but you cant put a baby in the oven mum" well that told me

but glad they taken it so well

hope evryone is well
lizzer-well done on your scan
louise-welcome
macdoodle-((hugs))

bambino1 · 28/05/2007 07:43
