I hope this works! Here is a new thread as the old one was getting v long.
I hope everyone is doing ok. If I'm anything to go by you will be wandering around queasy and exhausted - isn't this fun?!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ok Sorry guys it does take a bit of working out! DON"T JUST LOOK AT THE CHART What we did (and it was correct 100% out of 4 children) was...

Click on the link to work out your chinese age first, select EST in time zone, leave latitude blank, next fill in your date of birth in BIRTH YEAR and in the AGE YEAR the date you conceived (if in doubt count 14 days from your LMP, it'll be near enough) then click the submit button. Write that age down, don't worry it will be older than you are!!!! (My friend miffed at this and said she's glad she doesn't live in china!)

NEXT go to chinese Lunar Month link. don't touch the top 2 options, put EST as the time zone. ONLY put the day and month of conception in the SOLAR drop down menu. then press submit. It will give you a number of lunar month, say 1- which will translate as January. Write this down.

Then take your chinese age and the number of the month and look it up on the chart. For eg mine was 33 and 1 - so looked across and it said GIRL!!

Obviously a bit of fun but interesting to see if your other lo's were correct predictions....Let me know

Lizzer · 20/05/2007 14:37

Sorry bambino you'll have to do the boring bits first

JARM · 20/05/2007 15:03

Lizzer - still saying girl for me!

JARM · 20/05/2007 15:05

Was right for DD1, but says DD2 should have been a boy!!!

Nbg · 20/05/2007 15:23

Its told me another Boy!

bambino1 · 20/05/2007 16:11

Ok I went back and did it again as I was unsure whether I had done it right and still says BOY!

Housemum · 20/05/2007 16:18

Isn't EST Eastern Standard Time in America? ie what New York etc would be on? Think I'll just wait to see if they can tell at the 20 week scan!!

Lizzer · 20/05/2007 16:43

Oh bugger housemum, I thought it was european standard time??!!! However, I thought the time bit was pretty insignificant unless you happen to be right on the cusp of a chinese new year?? Who knows?!!!
Yeah, I'm definitely waiting for 20 weeks for the truth, but its actually helped me prepare for another girl as everyone I know keep telling me it'll be a boy (how they 'know' I don't know!!)

MamaMaiasaura · 20/05/2007 21:51

it said another boy for me too.. DP really wants a girl so if this is a boy perhaps I'll get a chance for number 3

Have a possible boys name but keeping it all secret at the moment.

Am 7 weeks now, sickness subsided alot now, peeing lots more tho, boobs still tender but not unbearable. MOst of u are past the 7 weeks - does any of this sound familiar? Also still getting bunged up and achy lower abdomin on and off.

JARM · 21/05/2007 06:16

well done on having names awen!

we are totally stuck, cannot agree on anything!

Nbg · 21/05/2007 07:47

Dh will not discuss names until we've had the 20 week scan.

Although we have had the usual silly name debate.

Shall we call it Drogba, Ronaldo, other stupid footballers names etc.

JARM · 21/05/2007 07:49

lol

nothing can beat DH's Nancy or Atholl

He is on planet coo-coo

Nbg · 21/05/2007 07:51

I have absolutoly no idea this time.

Ds was hard enough last year.

skidaddle · 21/05/2007 09:01

Morning all,

My scan was fine - just one baby (dp seemed quite disappointed with this!) and all is well. Am only 10+6 though which is very strange because it means I conceived about 3 days before when i thought my period was due ??? Never mind at least all is well.

can't work out that Chinese thing either...

Hope you managed to sort your mouse (note singular!) problem M4G, how horrid. We found a dead bird behind the washing machine yesterday and that was enough to turn my stomach. Mind you just about anything is enogh to turn my stomach at the moment...

Well I think dp and I are finally going to tie the knot after no mention of weddings for six months after getting engaged!! We are going to get married on the rocks by the sea where he grew up and then have our Indian friend cook up a huge curry for everyone on the beach and two of his friends who are musicians will do the music. Hoping it will all cost less than $200 as we are very skint. Maybe in July if we can get it all organised by then. I might be mistaken for a beached whale but hey

Awen - go on, tell us your boys names - we can't think of a single one we like...

Cazzybabs - home waterbirth sounds amazing - i would do the same if i was allowed

hope everyone is feeling OK

Nbg · 21/05/2007 09:24

Great news Skidaddle.
Lol at your dh being disappointed. Bet you werent

Lovely about the wedding too Are in america then or was the $ sign just a slip on the keyboard?

birdseed · 21/05/2007 09:46

Beachbunni, sorry not to reply sooner. Just popped in briefly to dec thread but am really on jan one!
Re steroids and chicken pox: the steroid creams won't make you more at risk of a severe infection, just if you are taking steroid tablets at present.
hope that clarifies.

skidaddle · 21/05/2007 10:03

Thanks Nbg, no, not in the US but have an American keyboard with no pound sign, should have out a euro sign really because we will get married in Rreland (where dp is from)

BTW my dp is also keen on a football-related name (jokingly only I HOPE) - likes Roy as in Keane esp. now Sunderland have been promoted, yawn yawn

Nbg · 21/05/2007 10:12

Ahhh right

You near sunderland then?
Have I asked you that before? I feel like I have lol.

skidaddle · 21/05/2007 11:37

Not too far from sunderland (Durham) but all Irish love Sunderland since roy keane has taken over as manager irrespective of where they live

BTW was reading your posts on that ridiculous is maternity leave sexist thread and completely agree with you

Housemum · 21/05/2007 12:15

What is it with men and football? DD2 is Georgina L - he did suggest that her middle names should be Olivia Abigail as she would be GOAL (I think he was joking...)

skidaddle · 21/05/2007 12:29

brilliant housemum - at least it's not an obvious reference to football like calling your son Drogba, now that would be awful

mad4girls · 21/05/2007 13:25

hello ladies
sorry been hectic weekend not been able to get on net as dp been hogging it,

nbg- no was on some AD a few years ago tried a few different ones but all made it worse so decided to try and work through it myslef as the gp refered me to mental heath team they said was nothing wrong with me, apprently slashing your arms with razors is normal, and it was just depression caused by my circumctances and that i shouldnt let the fact my husband ran off with my BF get me down, then the fire alram went off so he said dont worry ill your gp your normal no need for our help.

anyway that was time ago been alot happier the last 18 months helped by the fact i stopped having the depo contraceptive jab, sorry for witling on,also we are due bout same time my 20 wk scan is 17th july(day before dd2 bday) so we can be BUMP BUDDIES

as for mouse problem hasnt made an appearance since friday night so just setting traps and poison for now and wait and see,

Ambi · 21/05/2007 13:54

Cazzy I fancy a home water birth too, trying to do my research on it. Initially I thought that cos it's my first I should be in hospital, but I want to be in relaxed surroundings, not sterilised hospitals with people i don't know around me. I'm gonna push for a hb anyway, of course if i need to I will go in - but not without a fight!

Niks · 21/05/2007 16:16

Hi all,
Cazz - your neighbour sounds like my old neighbours - they would bitch and moan about me and Moggins all day and very loudly so you could hear them from the comfort of their armchairs - they didn't even need to move into the garden!! They'd bellow up at us if we dropped a remote or the mobile fell off the sofa . DD learnt how to walk very light footed poor love. I was soooo glad to get away from them - grumpy sods. The thing is, you can't do anything about it without resorting to their level of meanness. I am feeling for you.
Mad4girls - we also had mice last christmas in our loft. DP is a big man and so it was muggins here that got hoisted up into the loft with the rat poison and had to crawl among the rotting corpses of dead mice picking them up and wrapping them in kitchen roll. I can only advise persistance - it took us a good month, we blocked off all the possible entrance routes, laid traps and poison and luckily (fingers crossed) they've not returned yet. We had double high fives when we finally got the buggers though - it was a proper triumph as we'd spent endless sleepless nights listening to them running around and chewing our rafters to make their nests.
Poor little moggins has been ill today and off school with a horrid cough but is now nicely wrapped in duvet in front of the tv so I'm going to give the chinese thing a go as I really really want to find out the sex - we're definitely going to find out at the 20 week scan but if I can get some divine guidance before then I'm all for it!! We have our names sorted - pretty much sorted the day we found out I was pg... one less thing to worry about.
Home birth mners - I am all for it to and am determined to give it a go. My doula friend just gave me a book to read by a french obstetrician who pioneered the resurgance of home birth and natural active child birth and lectured at my friend's doula course - she said he was mesmerising. It's called Birth Reborn by Michel Odent and so far it's very good if you want the facts etc. Also - as it's written by a male obstetrician dp seems to consider it has more welly than the other natural childbirth books I've been flicking through so it would be a good one for the boys to read.
Off to tackle this chinese thingy...

flipflopper · 21/05/2007 18:07

Hi every one hope you are all well, I have been surprisingly well, I am just feeling a bit dodgy, not enough to put me off my food though!
I am jealous of all these scans you have all been having. I think I might be getting a 12 week scan now, when I was pg last, you didnt get a routine scan at 12wks, but I know a couple of my friends have had them, and my sil said today that loads of people she knows who are pg at the moment are having them, so it looks like I will get one!
Hooray! Funny how the doc seemed to think it was only the 20wk they offer though. Will have to see what the mw says.

I had a funny thing today, about 1/2 and hr after I got up, my right hand went all numb and one of my fingers had pins and needles, this lasted about an hour or so, very strange. I mentioned it to my mum and she said something about carpal tunnel symndrome, but dont know aything about that, anybody know about it?
