Due at New Year....anyone else?!

1000 replies

kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

So sorry Calagry99 Hope the ttc goes well in the future.

pussycatmomma · 03/06/2007 22:21

hi everyone....
Calgary - i know we havent spoken before but so sorry to hear about your scan. I wish you the very best of luck in the future, So very sorry this has happened for you. Will remember you in my prayers. (((hugs)))
Laughalot - YAY!!!! yay! yay! Yes would love to meet up, cant believe your Lauren will be a year old in Jan!! Seems like an absolute age ago, Im so glad you saw my post
Well, we have just had a mad whirlwind of a weekend, telling family our news. Everyone really pleased. I know its early, but we just didnt want to keep it to ourselves. Have never even got this far before, so we have achieved so much already. Am just scaring myself silly with the how much to rest, what to do/ what not to do , what not to eat, etc etc. Did the second of my clearblues today, same strong line. (havent told dh but will probably test every week! thats not gonna help bring the tesco bill down is it!) Does everyone else feel as terrified as me of suddenly "not being prg anymore"?? Im sure Im not the only one. How does everyone else cope???
Thanks to Katyt1 and housemum for there messages re. pcos. It always helps to have a success story at the front of your mind rather than letting it linger on the negative things.
Cause I am a late straggler to this thread, could we have a roll call so I know whos up to where? eg pussycatmomma, 6 wks.
Also (sorry, last thing, honest!)
Did anyone else have to have their prg confirmed by dr or did they take your word for it? I am just changing to a new practice and receptionist said i didnt have to see dr but she would put me down in midwife book and they would ring me about arranging my first appt. Just wondered what happened to everyone else.
Sorry for long post and waffle, as you can still am still excited and got far too much to say
lots of love to all
xxxxxxxxx

MamaMaiasaura · 03/06/2007 23:01

Housemum · 04/06/2007 10:10

Pussycat - I didn't go to doctor - when i went with DD2 I felt as if I was wasting his time! (Didn't have my usual doc, this one was a right old misery!). So this time I called the surgery to ask what to do and they said similar to yours - I just had to call to book a midwife app't between 8-12 weeks (I think the time varies according to your particular area).

Having got to 10 weeks now, I find myself sometimes not thining about it at all, then suddenly thinking, "wow, I really am pregnant!" Which is daft, as I did have an early scan so I know something is there, but it still won't seem real for a few more weeks until I have a "bump" and feel some movements!

Did go shopping at the weekend though and now have what you might call a "capsule wardrobe"! I will be elegant in this pregnancy - I have a wedding evening do to go to in 6 weeks and have nothing that will fit them - bought a lovely dress in Blooming Marvellous so will have to wear it all summer to get £50 worth of wear out of it!! (Luckily it had just been reduced from £65) Also bought a pair of jeans and a summer top, so that plus my couple of tops and trousers from Mothercare should keep me going for a bit when I burst out of my clothes. (Still paranoid though and have all receipts/tags attached and safe just in case...)

MrsBiscuit · 04/06/2007 10:15

Pussycatmumma, the doctor just took my word for it which I found a bit strange, but he said that the tests that they would do ar no more accurate than the off-the-shelf ones. I'm still in partial denial and if it weren't for the supertiredness and occasional nausea, I wouldn't think that I was pg.

I've added myself onto the list, hope I've done it correctly as I'm trying to post surreptiously whilst at work, and I've minimised my screen to only about an inch wide:

Morning ladies - how are you all?, there's so many of us!

Welcome newbies and congratulations to you all.

So sorry to hear your news Calgary99. A big hug to you and good luck for the future.

Plummy - good luck with the scan today. On another note, I had ventouse delivery (it was 1 push 1 pull though if you know what I mean) last time and have been told by midwife that I'm ideal candidate for homebirth. She says often GPs don't have a clue what they are talking about.

Birdseed - saw you went to your sis's evening thing. Well done - am sure she'll have really appreciated it.

My nausea is disappearing help - should I be worried?? Am nearly 10 weeks but had it for ages with dd. Still feel weird about food but just not sick. I suppose I should be grateful but I'm still worried!

mum2sons · 04/06/2007 10:40

Morning all,

Hope you are all ok this morning. I am still feeling v sick and have sea bands on which don`t seem to help much! DS2 potty training at the mo as well, lovely. Am meant to be finishing off my MSc but that is making me feel more sick (she says!)

Take care everyone xxx

Sorry to crash on again pussycat get yourself into the four seasons and into bodycare they do cheap crappo test £ 1 each I always think if the crap ones work you defo feel pg, I did about 3 million .

birdseed · 04/06/2007 10:54

bettymamma, I am nearly 10 weeks too and my nausea has improved - much more nausea free time and generally less bad when it is there. so I am also hoping that it is normal. My SIL is also pregnant and hers improved at about 10 1/2 weeks, so I figured that most likely it is normal.
We are getting nearer the end of the first trimester ....hurray!....fingers crossed for lots of successful 12 week scans and a more relaxing 2nd trimester!

I had changed mine to same as birdseed, but seems to have disapeared!

Really sorry to hear your news Calgary, my thoughts are with you and good luck for future xx

I only bought a book at the weekend.but was good, and have read most of it! My sister has lent me a DVD,about conception thru life in the womb, think it was a channel 4 documentary, so will watch that some time this week and let you know that its like!

I saw my dad saturday, he was pretty shocked (he didnt even meet the ex), as i had only been with ex for 3 motnhs, but very supportive. Spent the rest of the time with my sisters, younger sis is SURE im having a boy as i dont have any sickness, and neither did she DS nearly 1, but my other sis has a boy and a girl and didnt have any sickness with either!
Docs appt tonight..so will hopefully get a midwfe appt at some point?
Hope you are all well xx

hi beller, as yet i have not booked an appointment but planning to later, ive just got back from a holiday. Thx for reasuring me that its quite normal not to have the sickness. yeah definately going to be hectic

Bettymamma · 04/06/2007 12:19

Yes you will be pg by Dec2007! Congratulations and welcome!

Beller - yes, I have found friends who have been sick do tend to have girls but then there are exceptions to the rule of course.

Birdseed - reassuring news that you are feeling less sick also.

I have my nuchal scan date yippee. I'll be 13 1/2 weeks though Will be going mad by then

Housemum · 04/06/2007 12:34

Hi Spud - you have similar age kids to me! (I've got DDs aged 14 & 4)

spud01 · 04/06/2007 13:44

hi housemum, all three kids will have similar ages. how do you find the age gap, with my dd she is like a second mum to ds, she loves him to bits. sometimes can be arkward though cant always do activities for teenagers and toddlers at the same time

teenagersagain · 04/06/2007 13:46

Hi again Ladies,
Just added my name to the list, although I will have a definate date on thurs after my dating scan, funnilly enough the day after my dp has his vascectomy!!
Lovely to see there are some other ladies with older children ( housemum & spud01..hello) & some older mums, am I the oldest at 42??
I must stop obesessing about my age, you are only as old as you feel, so I'm 22 then?
Must dash as ginger beer & rice cakes calling...

MrsBiscuit - lol at having your screen an inch wide, I remember doing that!

Beller - glad your family are being supportive! I wasn't sick with either my dd or my ds, but I am with this one. Perhaps I'm having a kitten this time?

Welcome Spud and Iwillbe (woohoo, you are, you really are!)

I saw the doc this morning, tis apparently what you're supposed to do here. She said the occasional brown spotting that I'm getting is probably nothing to worry about but - I have a scan appt for tomorrow morning. Not sure if excited or nervous.

I'm hoping that they will be able to see if the baby is implanted into my scar or not but doc said they may not be able to tell (I had placenta praevia last time, don't want it again!).
