Due at New Year....anyone else?!

1000 replies

kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

hello ladies......
I just wanted to very very tentativey dip my toe in the water of an ante-natal thread, I tested yesterday and got my bfp this will be our first baby.
Strong dark blue immediate line and it is just over 6 weeks since my last af, so im thinking I am 6 weeks, yes?
Been ttc for eons (well, 2 and a bit years) and have been on clomid. I wondered if anyone else on here has pcos? I have just been scariing myself silly on the tinternet about girls with pcos being more at risk of miscarriage{{{very scared emoticon}}}
I havent managed to read all this thread (you are a chatty lot ) but hello to all and am really looking forward to getting to know everyone. xxxxxxxxxx

Housemum · 02/06/2007 09:48

Pussycat - welcome to the thread. I haven't got personal experience, but my friend has PCOS, and is now about 20 weeks into her second pregnancy (she has a 4 year old DD) if that helps - she didn't mention anything about increased mc risk, and she has never had one. With her DD1, as she hadn't had AF for months, they actually gave her a drug to bring it on - when it didn't work, they did a test and she was 9 weeks pg! Even after that, DD was fine. Hope all goes OK with you.

goingfor3 · 02/06/2007 10:08

Hello everyone,

Well come to all of the new people who have joined. I'm 8 weeks and feel fine. The tiredness has got better and I haven't had any sickness for a while. I'm just trying to relax and enjoy it but I don't actually feel like I'm pregnant. I'm really looking forward to my scan but that not for more than three weeks. My clothes have got tighter so I had to buy a pair of maternity trousers already, I hope I'm not the only one who has had to do that, I have lost about 5lbs so there must be a baby in there making my tummy bigger.

Housemum I left you a message on MSN.

Housemum · 02/06/2007 10:42

Goingfor3 - I am considering venturing into maternity trousers - off shopping later. Waistline has totally gone so just feel fat - am thinking of standing pushing my belly out to pretend I am more pregnant than I am! M&S used to do smart black jersey trousers (more office type than "leisure wear") but I couldn't find any yesterday - thought that would have been a good compromise.

Thanks for the other info!

Naetha · 02/06/2007 12:09

Welcome Pussycat

My MS/hormones/boobs/everything else can't decide whether they're on or off one day to the next!

After having 4 days with no nausea at all, I then proceeded to nearly throw up in a work meeting (had to make a VERY hasty exit!) and then nearly had another close call while (probably overenthusiastically) trying to de-wind myself on the way home!

I'm really looking forwards to the festival now - it'll be hard work but awesome! I don't know whether its the hormones or what, but in the last couple of weeks I seem to have been really "feeling" music much more, so I'm looking forwards to (gently of course!) rocking out!

Where in North Wales are you Jens? I grew up in Bangor, and my sister lives near Denbigh - lovely part of the world, although I love Bingley as well!

katyt1 · 02/06/2007 14:13

hi pussy cat, i had PCO (not the full PCOS apparently) and was on metformin before i got pg with DS. then my cycles came back and sorted themselves out so i got pg this time round before i even planned to really.
last time i carried on taking metformin for 12 weeks as it's meant to reduce the risk of mc associated with pcos but i'm not taking anything this time.
there does seem to be some sort of link but it's one of those things that's pretty vague. so best plan forget about it(easier said than done i know!) and enjoy looking at that bfp!!
and at the others you are bound to do tomorrow, mon....next week...and so on! been there, done that!
kt

Jenswish · 02/06/2007 14:25

mrsRabbit · 02/06/2007 16:50

plummymummy · 02/06/2007 17:11

I have an enormous appetite for carbs and have put on weight alreaady but I am hoping that means all is going ok with the pg

plummymummy · 02/06/2007 17:12

mum2sons great news about your scan and it's great to be put forward rather than back

MamaMaiasaura · 02/06/2007 17:48

PUssycatmumma

Congratulations honey!!!

Am so so so glad you got your BFP!! I thought it all sounds very promising. Do you know when it happned, was it late in cycle like mine. I am so so happy for you!

Hello everyone else and hello all new people. Been busy here, my ds has been little Mr accident prone!. I am 9 weeks today Sleep was completely mucked up last night. Feeling ok tho except i am feeling bloated and windy

angelcake99 · 02/06/2007 19:49

Hi Pussycatmomma, Congratulations on your BFP! I was diagnosed with PCOS last year and was on metformin for about 4/5 months before getting pregnant. My gp has told me not to carry on taking it through pregnancy, but I know that many women do to decrease the rick of miscarriage. I can undertand your worries, I am about 8 weeks now and have scred myself over and over again reading things on the net! I have now decided that its best to try to be positive and take one day at a time. If you haven't already visited the Verity site, you should take a look!
Hope everyone else is doing well!

MamaMaiasaura · 02/06/2007 21:42

angelcake - I never knew it decreased the risk of miscarraige. I stopped metformin once i found out I was pregnant under dr's advice too.

Naetha · 02/06/2007 22:12

Had 4 days of eating nothing but pasta and tomato sauce with a bit of veg! I just don't want to eat anything else. Managed to force down a couple of bowls of cereal in the morning and a few apples and the good old BBQ hula hoops!

Eating habits are starting to annoy DH - he cooked duck in orange sauce tonight that had I been normal I would have absolutely loved, but I just had no desire to eat it at all! I think he thinks I'm slighting his cooking!

laughalot · 03/06/2007 12:43

Calgary99 · 03/06/2007 15:23

Hello Everyone,

Went for my sonogram today and unfortunately it's not good news. Not viable so DH and I will be trying again soon. I have to say that it's definitely better knowing earlier than later for me.

All my best to everyone on the thread; you've been a great group to get to know.

Jenswish · 03/06/2007 16:24

Calgary, I'm so sorry to hear that for you. Did they manage to give you a reason?

My heart is with you and your DH and if you need to talk I'm here.

HUGS (apologies if you don't do them)

fruitful · 03/06/2007 17:20

Oh Calgary . Did they say what happened?

Jenswish · 03/06/2007 17:25

I feel so naughty and kinda like I'm pushing fate.

BUT I was just looking through EBAY and found this cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=001&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBI%3AIT&viewitem=&item=110134370061&rd=1&rd=1 (hope the link works)

Have just bid on it. DP is HUGE fan.

goingfor3 · 03/06/2007 18:40

Calgary99 - I'm really sorry to hear your sad news. Good luck for the future.

katyt1 · 03/06/2007 19:16

((((hugs)))) Calgary, best of luck with ttcing, hope to see you on another due thread soon.

awen - my doc said re met. that it was up to me and i had read lots about it reducing the risk so carried on taking it. think i actually took it till about 10/11 wks before i started forgetting and thinking why bother now. think the science re met. is still experimental and the docs hate advising pg women to take experimental drugs - re thalidomide.

right dh has gone, am now on my own until next sun morning, hope ds and i get on ok....! already disagreed over quite how many cheerios a 1yr old needs for tea!

tv and early night for me, ds up at 5.30 wide awake today, yuk.

hope everyone is ok, kt

MamaMaiasaura · 03/06/2007 19:32
