Due at New Year....anyone else?!

1000 replies

kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

beller · 01/06/2007 14:20

well done birdseed!!

I get that too...but i think my bloatedness is constipation

Angechica · 01/06/2007 14:27

I only feel queasy in the mornings so far - a nice bowl of COLD rice pud sorts that out.

Could it be water retention?

Wind - YES (DH disgusted - I have to go in the Fart Corner)

constipation - not yet!

it is really nice to chat - i have no friends or rellies who are PG at the mo.

skibump · 01/06/2007 14:49

Plummy how do you know, who told you? It's ok, I didn't take it that way. I'll be 40 next January - a couple of people have asked what I'm doing for my birthday, but so far I've managed to refrain from answering 'giving birth'! To be fair, the midwife was v apologetic about it, and is v supportive of me having a home birth, so I think it'll all be ok as long as it looks straightforward. Thx also Mum2sons for the support on this one

Birdseed, well done you

Angechica & teenagersagain, welcome and congratulations, teenagersagain it looks like there's a few of us older mums around here Add yourselves to the list

beller · 01/06/2007 15:00

MrsMcJnr · 01/06/2007 15:40

Hello ladies

Calgarry99 ? I hate driving! I learnt 3 years ago and will do anything I can not to do it. Already hyperventilating at the thought of driving myself to the airport tomorrow ? it?s only 20 mins away and I?m going at 5am and yet I?m still scared! TBH I wouldn?t have even known at cyst was there if they hadn?t seen it, it hasn?t been bothering me at all How exciting that you are having a scan on Sunday all the very best! Sounds to me like your body is looking for calcium ? bone food that?s got to be good, if you give it plenty, the baby won?t take it from your bones! Thanks for keeping the list up to date for us! Great wallet tip!

PBirdy ? welcome and congratulations! MN is a great place to be ? especially in those scary, hairy moments! Hope Monday goes well look forward to seeing how it goes! I thought you could (and are meant to) take the vits all the way through and through breastfeeding too? My sis went in to labour on the tube, no one even gave her a seat!

Barristermum ? hello! glad you had a good time and I quite agree ? if you are going to educate your child properly you might as well start on the basics of great champagne ? glad to hear Grandpa bought some to wet the baby?s head with! I?m having a wobbly day but the MN ladies have been keeping me afloat!

Mum2sons secrets are so hard to keep!

BeckyAu might have to get some bands if they do help.

Toomanyshoes ? the Doreen is going back, god it was uncomfy! Glad the spotting is not worrying you as much now not long now until that scan! [scan]

BWMum ? congratulations and welcome! how exciting about your scan, sounds amazing!

Gingeme ? don?t you want to see the beanie twice then? glad the acu bands are working! I?m taking the Pregnacare Extra. What a vote of confidence from your MW!

Awen ? hello I thought that poem was about Yorkshire?! I?m having very vivid dreams too. Yours sounded nasty

Mummyto2littleprincesses I really hope your MS is not as bad this time round!

Hello Beller 6.30am pondering what you do now! so sorry you are going through this with your ex, it must be really stressful. I really admire you keep strong and positive and don?t let him upset you. Here in Scotland (well this bit anyway) we only routinely get a dating scan sometime between 10 and 14 weeks, no nuchal and no 20 week Take it easy on the green tea ? too much can have negative effects.

MrsBiscuit ? welcome and congratulations! I have been worried about my lack of exercise I?ve just bought Davina?s pg DVD! Arrived this morning. Why not get them to re-assess your gym programme in light of the pg?

Skibump ? glad the MW appointment went well bet it made it feel very real. Hope the spotting stops soon.

Fruitful ? keep up that chant and I hope it stops soon!

Plummy ? poor you, sounds like that discussion about medical car did not go well! I bet you are Fingers crossed for Monday

Birdseed ? hello.

Many congratulations and welcome MrsRabbit & Teenagersagain Angechica

Hello to all those I haven?t mentioned!

beller · 01/06/2007 15:46

Hi Mrsmcjnr...
got me worried now...what negetive effects does green tea have?? I have about 5 cups a day?
Im a money broker, so work from 6.30-4.30 with an hour travelling each way..long day..bu only 6 months to go!!

beller · 01/06/2007 15:48

impressed with yout post by the way !

MrsMcJnr · 01/06/2007 16:17

Don?t worry, sorry I didn?t mean to scare you . I love it too but read in my What to Expect When Expecting book ?Green tea should probably be limited during pregnancy since it may interfere with cell development and growth? in fact, it says to avoid all herbal teas since the effect of them has not been well researched in pregnancy. I drink a lot of chamomile and hope that?s ok, my GP looked at me as if I was a bit loopy when I asked her if I could drink lots of that

Naetha · 01/06/2007 17:19

Hi folks, I posted on the Due in last qtr 2007 but that thread seemed to die a little!

I hope you don't mind the copy+paste!

Hello I'm new here!

I think I just sneak into the last quarter 2007 as I'm due on the 31st December! This makes me currently 9+2. My cycle is a little bit erratic, so I reckon my dates will be anywhere between the 31st and the 4th - hopefully the 12 week scan will update things

Its so reassuring to know that I'm going through the same thing as everyone else. My MS has abated a little, and as soon as I was feeling better I was convinced that either I wasn't pregnant to start with, or I've had a "secret" miscarriage! Neither of which I hope are true or I'm going to look like a right plum at my 12 week scan!

I'm still knackered, and the boob fairy is very much in evidence (gone from 36D to 40E in 9 weeks!) but at least I'm not throwing up all the time! I find it absolutely fascinating the way it affects my mood and appetites though. I've completely gone off anything sweet, don't really want to eat meat, and I've been eating packets upon packets of salt and vinegar and BBQ Hula Hoops! Healthy I know!

Best of all as well, I've got a bleedin operation due in 5 weeks as well! I have chronic gallbladder problems, and am due to have it out then. It seems fairly safe (although there's always some risk) and I'll be glad to be rid of the damn thing.

Oh, and I'm going to a big rock festival next week as well - that will be fun if I'm feeling tired, but thankfully we've got VIP tickets this year so get to park next to the tent, free shuttle bus to the festival site etc etc

Anyway, apologies if I'm rambling a little, I'm not really capable of threading anything coherent together!

[no longer copy paste]

You guys seem like such a great community here - I've tried to read all the posts up to today, but then I pressed refresh and there were another 50 to read!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

MrsMcJnr · 01/06/2007 18:32

Welcome Naetha and many congratulations! hope your op goes well ? poor you! The festival sounds fun but exhausting!

Ladies ? don?t worry about me in my absence, I am going away for a long weekend and will post again after my scan on Tues hope you all have good ones x

skibump · 01/06/2007 19:36

Welcome Naetha, yeah it's scary isn't it, you can spend 30 mins catching up, then find out you're still not up to date!

Bit worried about Jenswish, she wasn't doing too well last time she posted, anyone come across her anywhere else?

Fantastic posts MrsMc, I just can't keep up

skibump · 01/06/2007 19:56

Stop reading this thread and read 'Very embarrassing sexual problem, please help' It's a classic!

katyt1 · 01/06/2007 20:21

intrigued skibump, will have to go and see...

ps can anyone tell me if there is a way to mark where you have read up ton on a thread? esp as this one is so busy!

gingeme · 01/06/2007 20:21

Have a go trip MrsMcJnr. Be waiting with baited breath about your scan.
Sea bands are great. Has anyone else had success with them yet?
Did a realy stupid thing yesterday. We went shopping in Tesco and a lady came and asked if we wanted to do a consumer taste test. Both dh and I said yes please? Then she asked if we worked for Tesco and if any of us were taking anti biotics or pregnant? Yes I am I chirped up 'Oh sorry you cant do it as it changes your tatse buds'. It was for iced buns too
Neatha welcome. Rock festival eh hope the weather stays good for you.
Well I hope you all have a good weekend and get lots of rest.

plummymummy · 01/06/2007 20:37

Welcome naetha beller - v impressed that you managed to save enough to buy a nursery Mrs McJ - good luck for tuesday xx

plummymummy · 01/06/2007 20:38

skibump - I'm only 4 years behind you. I also have a January birthday (17th) and agree that it's a rubbish time of year for birthdays but I can't afford to pick and choose my baby's birthday. Tried it before and came a cropper

plummymummy · 01/06/2007 20:45

Under which topic is the discussion?

katyt1 · 01/06/2007 20:48

skibump - i am sitting here 'watching' the footie with tears rolling down my face from that thread. my bro & dh have no clue what i'm reading...

i agree that jan isn't a great time to have a birthday but others have convinced me it won't be as bad as i imagined. better then december surely?

gingeme - bad luck re missing the iced buns

having a crisis of confidence at the mo, 2 things;
1)dh is away for 8 days starting tomorrow and i'm not sure i can cope with my tiredness/exhaustion & ds for all that time on my own
2)longer term, can i cope with 2???? reassure me that all will be ok, esp those who've had 2 close together. i felt confident beforehand but now the reality is starting to sink in, i keep having negative thoughts, and then worry that these thoughts could harm beany, i know irrational...

any help welcome, kt

gingeme · 01/06/2007 20:53

PMSL - found it.

mum2sons · 01/06/2007 21:26

The scan went well and made me 7 weeks not 8 and I could see the little heart beating, so sweet! We are very excited now. My new due date is about 17th Jan ( although I never trust due dates, mine are always after)

I am just so relieved it is in the right place and not in my tube again..

mum2sons · 01/06/2007 21:43

Just found that thread! PMSL

Jenswish · 01/06/2007 22:10

Hi all,
sorry not been here for a while. I've gone through the thread quickly and congrats to all who have joined!

I'm living in North Wales btw,

Got my first apt on 20th June (will be onsite midwife) will be 11 weeks then so hope they can deal with it quickly and get scan done!

MS has gone now, belly is growing and i'm itching all over, esp my belly. I've put on 2lbs and 1 inch round my belly. Got pains in my left hand side but i'm just putting it down to growing pains.

Anyway, hope all is ok. HUGS
