Due at New Year....anyone else?!

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

Hi plummymuumy..thats pants!! Im going to see my doc on monday..dont know what service i get..?
Im due v eraly Jan..and will proably spend xmas and new year with my sisters,so mean i will be in Hayes/West Wickham area..but registered to Brentwood? Hmmmmm will probably have to get my bum home aftre new year..Im thinking of having a Doula as I dont have a partner..Im sure my sis will offer, but would be short notice obviously and she has a job and kids....
Anyway..long way off yet!!
So do you get a 12 week scan or just a 20?

birdseed · 31/05/2007 15:33

Bellar - yeah! same due date I think!...at least till either of us goes for a scan and they change the dates! I was thinking about it yesterday and thought that you would be about the same date! so glad you came to the same conclusion

Re preg vits - my bottle of sanatogen says take throughout preg and breastfeeding, so looks like no worries with folic acid after 12 weeks. You need some anyway.

Blimey gym goers- very impressed! All I can do after work is sit on the sofa and feel green! I know that exercise is meant to make you feel better though, so if you can do it then do. Also have read that you shouldn't exercise so hard that you can't keep up a conversation. If you are that short of breath you need to take it easier. Also have to avoid overheating, drink lots of water and not do exercises lying on your back after 12 weeks.

plummymummy · 31/05/2007 15:51

beller - sorry I meant an early scan to rule out ectopic (had suspected one last year). Actually they have just phoned me to offer me one on Monday. Had hoped end of week but at least they phoned. They do offer the nuchal and 20 week one too. I know west wickham very well as went to school there. You might have to check out the parking at Bromley Hospital or is it Farnborough - in case you go into labour early! I was 4 days early with my son but they say to expect to deliver anytime from 38 weeks.

gingeme · 31/05/2007 17:32

Afternoon ladies. I rang my midwife this morning to ask why my 12 week scan was before my booking in appt. I was told it was so they could do the measurements for the triple test and get them before my booking in. Shows how much it changes just in 7 months since my last baby. My midwife recognised my voice (she delivered my last ds) and said she had a feeling she would be meeting me again.
I do actualy have 2 scan dates. One for 25th and one for 26th June. I rang them today and cancelled the 25th as dh is off work 26th.

mrsRabbit · 31/05/2007 18:17

Hello all, cant quite believe Im here! Been trying for a baby for the past 2 years and had my 1st apt at a fertility clinic last wednesday. Randomly did a pg test on Monday, not sure why as I was sure I had period pains and there it was- the strongesr blue line I could have ever imagined! Nearly died! Cant believe after all this time it has just happened. Convinced myself we'd need IVF or something. Lookily I've got 2 weeks of work cause I'm walking round like I'm on drugs or something! Not slept properly since I found out!

Ok everyone - quick but important tip!!

I found a wallet today while running errands in London. I looked through the whole thing and there was not a business card nor phone number to call. It's taken me ages to get a hold of someone - finally through their credit card company (as he had 3 in the wallet). I checked online and actually found a restaurant review from the fellow but that's it, he's unlisted etc.

So, grab your wallet and a piece of paper unless you've a business card and put your phone number with a note "If found call..." I feel sorry for this fellow who probably went through a couple of hours of cancelling everything before I was able to free myself from work and track him down. Funnily enough he lived within 2 blocks of me.

Calgary99 · 31/05/2007 18:51

mrsRabbit - Congratulations!!! I can feel your excitement in your post. Welcome to the board, we'll enjoy getting to know you over the months to come.

mum2sons · 31/05/2007 19:02

Hi Fruitful,

I am near you, just Bedfordshire but on the border near N Herts!

barristermum · 31/05/2007 19:24

Yeay!!!! Welcome Mrs Rabbit - feel tremendously sympathetic with your story - we had been trying for 18months and I was about to give up and book fertility appt when suddenly found it had all happened naturally. When are you due. Stick yourself on our list.

Btw - all you gym ladies - I am in awe! This pg is just what I need to finally justify my heiffer like lazy existence and I am going to work it for all I can.

Re the tube - I have occasionally been feeling light-headed and have just brazenly asked a nice looking young chap if he will give up his seat as I am in the early stages of pregnancy. If you doo it loudly and sweetly enough they do not have the front to refuse - in fact both instances they looked chuffed with selves for being chivalrous.

BWMum · 31/05/2007 19:56

Barristermum: I need to try that - on South West Trains people seem to be deaf, dumb and blind until you get to Waterloo when it's like a rugby scrum. I've had a really sore back for about two weeks now and would love to get a seat some days....!

gingeme · 31/05/2007 20:21

Welcome Mrs rabbit. Well done to you well and dh ofcourse. Thats fantastic news.

katyt1 · 31/05/2007 20:30

congratulations to all newbies
esp those who've been trying a long time

i'm in essex (not an essex-bird tho! - no white stilettos for me!)

good on you gym-go-ers, i am firmly on the side of slobbing-out-on-sofa-ers!

there is a badge you can get if you want from london underground that says baby on board designed to wear on the tube so people will know you are pg (not just fat!) and offer you a seat. not sure how to get hold of one but worth asking at the station?

right, must get to ironing...kt

plummymummy · 31/05/2007 20:35

plummymummy · 01/06/2007 09:19

Have any of you had a scan at 6 weeks and seen/heard a heartbeat? I was wondering what the chances will be on Monday as I will only be 6 weeks, 3 days.

beller · 01/06/2007 09:26

I had a scan at 7+2 and just saw the sac and little beanie...not sure?

plummymummy · 01/06/2007 09:30

I think it can vary a lot. I had one at 7 weeks with ds and there was a hb, but others have had one at less than 7 weeks and seen one too (but don't know if it was as little as 6+3).

MamaMaiasaura · 01/06/2007 09:57

Hi Plummy - my scans were at 4+3 and 6+3 with this little bean. Only saw gestational sac at first transvaginal. The second one was abdominal and I saw little bean and heartbeat. Bean was 6.1mm crown to rump, Sac 20mm. Apparantly dont alway see a heartbeat this early, but you can. When is your scan?

plummymummy · 01/06/2007 10:10

Hello. Thanks for that. My scan is Monday. I think they are only interested in scanning me to rule out ectopic, whereas I was hoping for hb so wanted scan a bit later. I can always get another one I suppose. There's a walk-in epu not too far away.
