Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

Skibump am sending lot's of positive beanie vibes your way.
Glad your parents around and hopefully some nice music might just help calm your nerves Can't imagine it's very serene !

LOL i just trying to imagine how much food we must have consumed between us since we joined this thread am making a concscious effort to wait until at least mid morning before i move on to the sweets and chocs

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 10:40

agree with fruitful, think it is mean of them not to scan you today.

Plummy - I had chat with ds this morning and apologised for being so grumpy. he is a sweetheart, i tossed and turned last night feeling an absolutely terrible mummy. Really cross with myself as dont usually get RAA at ds and is only every when homework time.

Birdseed - we are quite medical arent we we need a midwife now!

Pinkelephant - used to do underwriting. After had ds got PND and had complete re-evaluation. Did some admin work in NHS and was encouraged to care work. Did care work and then nursing.

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 10:41

lol lilyloo - this time next year we will be all moaning about baby weight and how to lose it ..

goingfor3 · 22/05/2007 10:44

skibump - fingers crossed all goes well for you.

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 10:49

I still didn't lose all of mine from pg with ds and was just losing it when got pg this time. Oh well

lisa111 · 22/05/2007 10:50

Morning Ladies,
Skibump Keeping fingers crosses 4 u xx

lisa111 · 22/05/2007 10:55

I work in nhs as well, not a midwife just a little clerical officer. But it does have its perks, i got my baby monitors form obelete stock because we no longer issue them.

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 11:00

Plummy - me too managed to get normal BMI when I found out BFP. Also had bought size 10 shorts about 6 weeks ago and was feeling very slim.. lol. Wont last!

Hi Lisa how r u?

lisa111 · 22/05/2007 11:04

Sorry obselete stock

lisa111 · 22/05/2007 11:06

Awen SIZE 10 SIZE 10 you lucky devil

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 11:09

Can't remember the last time I fitted into a size 10 but it was a few years ago at least. Although my bmi has been normal throughout I went from a size 10-12 to 12-14 and my boobs grew from a pre-ds size of 34C to a 34DD which makes fitting into a size 12 top very difficult So much for dropping a cup size after pg.

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 11:15

Ok must tear myself away and go and paint ds's room. Bye for now

LilyLoo · 22/05/2007 11:47

lol Plummy i am sat here stuffing my face with Ginger nuts dipped in my cup of tea. dd keeps trying and dropping hers in
The only thing i can console myself with is that after the other two when i breast fed the weight and more besides just dropped off, am hoping that will happen again

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 12:06

Just picked ds up from school. He has poorly tummy so is watching balamory now.

size 10 bottoms .. size 16 top.. (boobs are huge .. 34G.. pre ds was 32/34 DD - the droppinjg cup size didnt work here either.. and if i drop size now wont they look like deflated balloons ). am rapidly going up to size 12.. then it will be more. Only thing about having small hips is wether I will be able to have VBAC.

Plummy - how are you painting the room? Is there a theme. Be careful of those paint fumes xx

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 14:09

Painting it yellow. There was lilac wallpaper from when we moved in. Not befitting of a boy so getting rid. Didn't think about paint fumes. Thought modern paints were ok. Oh well. One coat done on 2 walls. Having a break now.

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 14:26

Sorry to hear ds not well. Hope he feels better soon awen.

fruitful · 22/05/2007 14:53

Aren't modern paints ok? I've painted our bedroom in between getting pg and finding out about it. And was intending to start ds's after half term. And then there is the nursery. And the living room.

They don't smell too bad to me. And this weather, you can leave the windows open.

katyt1 · 22/05/2007 14:54

aarrrggghhhh!
am at work - and ca't get anything done, can only sit here thinking i want to run around screaming I'M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

phew, needed to get that out of my system.
really not getting stuff done today...

surely positive baby vibes are more important then getting letters replied to? or filing filed? etc...

plummy - you are prob alright with the paint, just keep the windows open.

awen - hope ds is better soon. i had only got back into (some of) my size 10 trousers a few weeks ago, now look what i've done! wearing 14s today, and yes they are a little loose but not totally, omg. i am already the size & weight i was last time at 20wks
oh, and awen, i had to get up to pee....

here goes the minstrels packet, and the can of sprite.....

Housemum · 22/05/2007 15:46

I think emulsion paints are OK but watch out for gloss - I glossed the skirting boards in the baby's room when pg with DD2 (20+ weeks, I remember having a reasonable bump) but my blood pressure was really high later that day when I had an appt - I've never had BP problems before, they told me to put my feet up and I had a midwife come to the house to check me over the next few days - was back to normal each time so must have been something to do with the paint.

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 16:09

Thanks for advice ladies. I googled it and found mixed reports. No conclusive evidence of household paints being dangerous but that is because the research has focused on people inhaling it recreationally or has been on lead based paints or removal of paint which apparently should never be done whilst pregnant. Oh and no oil based paints so you're right - that would rule out gloss. Overall I think the info backs up what you have all said about keeping the windows open. It also suggests putting a fan in the room to aid drying/reduce fumes further. Fell asleep during my "break". Back to it now.

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 17:16

plummy sorry didnt mean to scare u about the paint. I meant gloss paint. I get high easily on it (obv not delib eratly). We have recently done lots of decorating. Still got nursery to do but leaving that till a lot later

LilyLoo · 22/05/2007 17:34

Good Plummy you are doing well i can't even muster up the energy to put the tea on
Well saw midwife today and i am booked in. Will get apt for 12 wk scan through post and have a midwife coming to see me at home on 5th June. All seems quite real now esp as i have a mammoth amount of baby gumpf to read.
She also reassured me r/e flight to Chicago just said drink plenty of fluids and keep moving as much as possible.
Sorry to hear about your ds Awen hope he's better soon.

barristermum · 22/05/2007 17:47

Hi Folks - am back after a weekend away with dr friends who guessed when I wasn't drinking and were so matter-of-fact about it and that it was far too early to be getting worked up that dh and I felt quite deflated! Am obv. like everyone else still frantic and cd have swung for the woman in Awen's tale ! Skibump, am praying for happy outcome and have everything crossed.
Have 1st Dr's appt tomorrow and am going to try desperately to get scan and see if heartbeat visible, as so few symtoms am beginning to disbelieve myself. Roll on 12 weeks.

Jenswish · 22/05/2007 19:11

Hi everyone,

Had a scary day today. Had AF pains and when I went to loo TMI but wiped it was red (not like proper AF just a smidge) was gone when I went again about 1 hr later but i've decided to get a docs apt ASAP and get everything checked.

Also had pains in my left hand side that made me panic about being ectopic but then I realised it was cos of the way I was sitting. HAHA>

Was so long ago when I read it but someone asked about the pets I've got 2 cats (mum & her son), 6 rats and 1 gerbil. I'm sure all will adjust and i've noticed that mum cat is being more loving lately. I wonder if it's a conincidence?

Hope your all ok and good luck to all those getting scans etc.

Anwen - the lady in your story should be shot, no need for that at all IMO.

LilyLoo · 22/05/2007 19:47

Evening Jenswish hopefully if you tell the docs you are worried they may book you in quickly for an apt. But as it was just a bit i would try not to worry. Will be hoping all is ok for you and Skibump tom.
