Due at New Year....anyone else?!

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

That's not nice at all awen. Of course every woman knows m/c is a possibility - don't need others pointing it out. Especially women who are already mothers - how insensitive The stats after 8 weeks are encouraging. Only three and a half to go. The days are dragging.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/05/2007 15:07

trying to think of ways to make time go faster Had a fun filled weekend with ds so that flew by. Next weeked ds seeing exp so dp and i are going to get on with house stuff.. new shed hopefully. This reminds me of when i was little and how long time seemed to take to pass esp when waiting for birthdays and xmas .. or the weekend!

Bbabymumma · 21/05/2007 16:34

tell me about it! I'm also trying to avoid seeing people so I don't have to tell them - so by the time i get to 12 weeks I'll be a recluse and have no friends.

Urghh - I've overdosed in pic n' mix!

birdseed · 21/05/2007 18:53

I know what you mean about trying to avoid socialising! All I feel like at present is curling up for a kip on sofa, to get rid of the horrible nausea.

I have to get through 4 days of acting/looking normal in early june when I go home for my little sister's wedding. I am meant to be going back on the wed night to help with preparations for the saturday and have booked flights which are non-changeable...doh!

Currently feeling rubbish, but am somewhat sleep deprived and am hoping that I might be feeling better by 10 1/2 weeks, which is what I will be by then.

Imawurzel · 21/05/2007 19:04

Evening all.
i coulda done with a nap this afternoon.
I think work should put a bed somewhere for me.
Have just had 4 weetabix, quite fancy another 2, got enough milk for coffee x2 tonight and 2x in morning, but not for more weetabix. Shop is only 10 minute walk away but can't be bothered to get changed and walk down there.
might wait til DH gets back from footie and get him to drop me down there.
Gawd i babble crap don't i ??!!

gingeme · 21/05/2007 19:07

Hi ladies. Just had a quick flick through.
Been on the sofa most of the day as I woke up at 3 am with a terrible migrane .
Feeling a bit more human now so just a quick hello.
Off for a bath now before Eastendsers.
Glad all is well.

plummymummy · 21/05/2007 19:39

wurzel - I used to kip sometimes in the staff room when pg with ds

LilyLoo · 21/05/2007 20:46

Evening all , this is the busiest thread i'm watching !
Well was 7 wks yesterday hooray , getting there
The sickness coming and going still but the wind is not conducive to sharing an office, am glad of the excuse to join the kids in the classroom Gin
Hope everyone ok. Can't wait until we all 'blooming' instead of wind and sickness and headaches
Welcom to the new mums ((((((waves)))))))
Well i have got my first apt tom with the midwife will be 7+2 so prob my next apt after this will be 12 wk scan.

LilyLoo · 21/05/2007 20:47

am not on the gin , whoops meant

toomanyshoes · 21/05/2007 20:55

hello, know what you all mean about time dragging. have spent most of my day at work going through diary working out when I can go for nuchal scan (have to pay for private one, been told i might not even get a normal 12 week scan in my borough!!) then when I can tell work. Have even worked out my leaving date from work!! Am going at earliest possible date which works out as mid september. made me feel better as that seems very soon and i bloody hate my job! Planning to go freelance after so wont affect how long I'm off afterwards.

I'm deffo going to try a can of sprite tonight - feel like i have worst kind of sicky hangover but with none of the fun of the drinking bit! So far extra strong mints seem to be the only thing that helps.

As far as the mc thing goes the consultant at the hospital told me that once a heartbeat has been seen on scan then risk goes down to 3%, still doesn't stop you worrying though!! When I was preg with DD i told my friends at about 9 weeks and i remember someone telling me i shouldn't have said anything because i might lose the baby - felt like punching her!

MamaMaiasaura · 21/05/2007 21:00

hope the sprite helps hun. Have a 2l bottle in the fridge and a box of celebrations

Sickness still improved so enjoying the break from it. I was a vile horrid mum this afternoon and shouted at ds over bloody number work... well over him not listening. Am really with myself. Have apologised to ds as i think i was in the wrong and really wish i could turn clock back. Feel such a complete cow. Dont know whether hormones or just me being crap.

Ds is fine and dandy and fast asleep. I just dont want him looking back at childhood and thinking of me as a shouty ranty mummy. Ilove him so much.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/05/2007 21:02

I keep looking in all 3 preganancy books, then emma diary (pants) then online to see how little one is and to check symptoms. Then i panick over scan and see if i can see similar ones online .. then check dates again and work out when i should have nuchal scan, 20 weeks scan etc etc Then i come on here and check threads.

LilyLoo · 21/05/2007 21:05

Awen that's more than a bloody full time job
Put your feet up girl !
Have just sent dp out for sprite. Pastry not too good with sickness

LilyLoo · 21/05/2007 21:10

Know what you all mean about being emotional though.
My 4 year old tumble dryer broke last week , nightmare with the recent weather.
Anyway to cut a long story short i refused to pay the engineer, £70 to come and look at it as it had nearly started a fire, all the timer was burnt out and the top of the dryer had sort of melted. I said i was very distressed and upset so they wiped the charge and i am now going to be the proud owner of a brand new dryer tommorrow free of charge too. God bless them pregnancy hormones

PinkElephant · 22/05/2007 09:04

Awen - aha that makes sence.....what made you decide to go into nursing? What did you do before? Sorry...I'm so nosey. If I had my time again I don't think I'd choose to train as a nurse. I'm a traiter and left the NHS 2yrs ago, I got so fed up with beurocracy of it all and the re-banding was the final straw for me. I now work for a Pharma company and absoultely love it.

Plummy - yes that a diffcult one working in PICU still. I don't envy you with all the potential lifting etc. How long will you wait before telling anyone?

Must dash, long drive today and must try and force some breakfast down although the thought of it makes me feel nauseous

birdseed · 22/05/2007 09:13

pink elephant, plummy and awen - turns out we really are quite a medical thread - I am a junior doctor, although general medicine, so I know nothing about obs and gynae!

I should be changing jobs on 1st august, so I will have the delight of telling my new employer then that I am 19 or 20 weeks pregnant...don't think that they are going to be too impressed!....especially as if I manage to get any maternity pay it will be from them!

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 09:45

How funny birdseed. A very medical thread . My mate is a doctor and her life was hell when she was pg as there was pressure on her to do calls still and no flexibility with hours when she resumed after mat leave. Yet I (who worked for the same trust)had a peachy number on the ward. I think maybe you were thinking I work in paeds but it's psychiatric intensive care. Not much lifting - the dangerous part of the job is the risk of violence. Hope your employer is ok about it as makes things easier for you if they support you. Pinkelephant - agenda4change is a rip off but I didn't think pharma companies paid much. I suppose the hours are better though. Do you market drugs or are you involved in research? Sorry everyone else - must be incredibly dull for you How is everyone? Haven't heard from skibump - a bit worrying. Is anyone craving sweets? Don't eat them usually but had to go and buy some haribo yesterday. Also bought some 7-up as didn't want to feel left out I am seeing the doctor next thurs who will refer me to the local epu for the following week when I will be 7 weeks (decided it will be easier than going to kings as traffic in morning terrible).

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 09:47

Doh - sorry. It was pinkelephant I was referring to as she mentioned the lifting - not birdseed. Sorry - ditzy pg hormones

fruitful · 22/05/2007 10:23

Mmmm Divine Heavenly milk choc is rather nice [munch, chomp]. I could be a convert from Galaxy!

AF was due yesterday and I'm still pg . I know that doesn't really make a difference but it feels good.

Birdseed - my parents were just as thrilled about my pg as about my brother. They just couldn't believe their luck to get 2 gcs at once. It did get a bit tricky later as my nephew proceeded to hit all the milestones before dd but mostly my mum is very good about not comparing them!

I'm not sure when to tell about this baby. I'm seeing my parents at the weekend, but I'll only be 5 weeks then. I guess I will say, as if I had a mc then I'd rather they already knew IYSWIM.

Skibump?

skibump · 22/05/2007 10:25

Hi everyone, thx for the good wishes. Yes Lily, much the busiest thread - I haven't got time to watch any others now!

Yesterday pains got worse, spoke to docs and they sent me straight down to the emergency obs & gynae clinic. Luckily my parents are here at the moment, so didn't have to take ds with me. Long wait of course. The doc who examined me said the cervix is still closed which is good, but there is still some bleeding. I have to go back tomorrow for a scan. I'm actually not too hopeful, things just don't feel right anymore iyswim - tho it may just be an infection. I'll update you when I know more.

Hope everyone else is doing well, wurzel, try dried apricots they work for me - tho they won't help the wind at all!

Off to music class with ds now, that should take my mind off things for a bit

skibump · 22/05/2007 10:28

btw, Arwen Why are people like that? Everyone knows the risks, and anyway, are you just supposed to say nothing if anything happens, just pretend it's all ok???

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 10:29

Keeping fingers crossed for you skibump. Try to take it easy til your scan tomorrow. Positive vibes being sent to you xx

fruitful · 22/05/2007 10:31

Oh skibump! Fancy not scanning you today. I hate the way they leave you in suspense. You may be ok - I bled a lot with dd. Did they think the blood was actually coming from your womb? Because sometimes your cervix can get irritated and bleed too.

plummymummy · 22/05/2007 10:32

awen - I shouted at ds yesterday too. Felt awful as he's not been well. I am so uptight though - must be worry plus hormones. I didn't feel this way when pg with ds - I felt floaty and serene whereas now I feel like a grumpy old witch

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2007 10:33

Skibump - hope your scan goes ok tomorrow. Is positive that cervix is closed. What time are they doing the scan. Hope everything is ok and am keeping fingers crossed for you. xxxxx
