Due at New Year....anyone else?!

kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

plummymummy · 20/05/2007 20:40

Awen, I want to get to 7 weeks at least before I tell work. It was just a bit hard for me last year, so I want to be as sure as can be before announcing it. Tbh, the acute wards can be more risky.

MamaMaiasaura · 20/05/2007 20:48

Plummy agree re acute wards being more dangerous. Better patient to staff ratio on PICU.. I remanined on PICU just didnt get involved in really high risk stuff. Still mananged to do lots of nursing, time with clients, meds, ward round, assessments etc.

YAY welcome fruitful and congratualations!!. Am still knicker watching at 7 weeks.. I forgot about cm++ when preg.

I did that chinese thing and says boy!

plummymummy · 20/05/2007 20:51

Fruitful, got loads of symptoms early too. Constipation, exhaustion early evening, sore tingly boobs, wind, needing to wee a lot and what seems to be the beginning of SPD Can cope fine with everything apart from the SPD as it is so miserable.

plummymummy · 20/05/2007 20:53

what chinese thing? Sounds interesting. That would suit you, then you can try for number 3 after

Finding this all a bit overwhelming - had missed miscarriage in Feb - found out at 11 weeks that nothing had been happening since week 4 or 5, so worried about every little twinge at this point, even though we had a scan at 6 wks, 6 days and saw (but did not hear) the heartbeat (which was REALLY cool!).

Am going back to work tomorrow after 2 week hols and am dreading it - I don't feel really sick, but just generally queasy ALL the time and am not sure how to deal with that in my open plan office! Any tips?

MamaMaiasaura · 20/05/2007 21:29

Welcome KMT - due date buddy!! had scan at 6+3 and saw beans heartbeat too. Was amazing. Means chances of successful pregnancy higher too if that helps you feel a little more relaxed. I think we all are looking forward to being past the 12 weeks point. Re nausea - feel for you, had this till about 2/3 days ago. Eating helped lots. Lemonade especially helped Welcome to this thread

Plummy I got the link from Decemeber thread as was between the 2 initially. chinese sex predictor THe instructions are on the December thread.

skibump · 20/05/2007 21:52

Welcome KMT and Fruitful, it's getting busy here

Not feeling so great, went for a run this morning and was really struggling - had to stop v often to get my breath, don't think I'll be doing that again! Also had a few spots of blood, plus a few aches & pains. Think I'll be heading down to the docs/hospital when I can to get things checked out

skibump · 20/05/2007 21:53

Toomanyshoes, great news - tho I do think they could have scanned you earlier and stopped all the worrying

gingeme · 20/05/2007 22:28

Awen not sure wether to believe the chinese thingy as it says Im having a pink one. The reason I say this is because I tried it before and my first ds should have been a girl though it was right with all my other boys!
Welcome fruitful. You have one of each already. What do you want this one to be then or no preferances?
Dont understand you lot being constipated. Im exactly the opposite! Mind you I have been hitting the fruit a bit the past few days. I find it helps the nausea plus we dont have crisps or biscuits in the house. House rule since Christmas. So all I have is low fat Go ahead biscuits which are soooo boring.
Anyway Im off to bed. No doubt be up at 6 with ds4
Night all xxx

plummymummy · 20/05/2007 23:21

I was the opposite when pg with ds - bowels worked like a dream According to the chinese thing I should be having a girl. That's good . Looking back at the month ds was conceived, it's accurate but then it's got a 50% chance every time!

Imawurzel · 21/05/2007 07:17

I'll try chinese thing again later, it confused me. what does it mean when it says age year?
My bowels are odd.Was going every couple days sometimes twice a day, but not been since thursday now.
suggestions to help things move along please.

birdseed · 21/05/2007 09:35

Hello all and welcome and congratulations to new ones. A bit of an absence for me, so might not have kept up with all the thread!

Eventful weekend for me.
Went to early pregnancy unit on advice of lupus clinic and waited for hours but got scan and saw heartbeat (awesome!) They made it 3 days younger than I do, which is a bit disappointing as I am willing these first 12 weeks away! But I guess what is 3 days here or there!...they could have just measured a mm short! So am not adjusting my due date just yet!

Then found out that SIL is also expecting!...due nearly 3 weeks before us....very amused!

Awful nausea today and yesterday evening...doh!

birdseed · 21/05/2007 09:38

Awen, don't waste your money on any more pregnancy tests! It's not going to affect anything and you have seen the heartbeat already so you know that you are definitely pregnant! Also I have read that they stay positive for 5 days even after a misscarriage so it won't really help us in that respect either!
....let's just wish by the next month or so!

fruitful · 21/05/2007 09:55

Birdseed, is it your SIL's first too? SIL and I were due our first babies 5 weeks apart, hers was on time and mine 2 weeks early so only 3 weeks between them. And they were my parent's first grandchildren. Mum's comment was that you wait for ever and then 2 come along at once! It does take the pressure off nicely though.

Plummy - ooh, SPD is not nice! I hope it stays off for a good long while.

Skibump - are you worried? Are you going to be able to see a doc?

Gingeme - don't much mind which I have. Apart from the completely shallow consideration that buying girls clothes is much more fun!

Bbabymumma · 21/05/2007 10:19

Hi ladies

haven't been around for a while - have alot to catch up on. Welcome newbies! Plummymummy you were my cycle buddy - and you live near me! how exciting.

Awen - I'm copying you I'm afraid. The nausea is not as bad as it was. Still can't cook meals or go near raw meat but its eased off alot. I think its the sick bands and my god how good is sprite? Think that doesn't help the windy bottom.

Someone was asking for tips on how to cope with nausea in an open plan office. Ginger nuts! they are the way forward.

Hi fruitful - sure we've met before
Birdseed - you've seen a heartbeat! Very very exciting. Am jealous though.

According to the chinese calendar i'm having a girl again - yippee! I don't mind if ds though, but girls are just funny stroppy little characters.

Imawurzel - eat lots of dried fruit if constipated down. Will help, promise, and drinks lots of water (she says glugging on sprite).

Better get back to work. Hope everyone else all ok. Where's MrsMcJnr?

plummymummy · 21/05/2007 10:32

Hi skibump - how are you feeling? I had spotting with ds(brown blood)from 5 wks - 11 weeks. No idea why. Hope everything ok.

plummymummy · 21/05/2007 10:45

Hi Bbabymumma. How long have you been living in the area? Apparently there is softplay in warlingham called Antics. Not open at weekends. Might take ds there when he's feeling better.

Bbabymumma · 21/05/2007 10:56

skibump - hope things are ok.
plummymummy - have been told about Antics, but haven't been there yet. We moved end of Feb so not been here long. They've opened a new softplay place called The Arc as well I believe. Hope your ds is ok.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/05/2007 11:07

Hi all, how are you today

Bbaby - def think sprite is adding to the parping . Been eating choc today too! Still feeling ok, boobs still a bit ouch and weeing often. I was up twice last night, not complaining tho as get straight back to sleep. Only thing is its a downstairs bathroom and it has stone floor so bloody cold!

MrsMcJR - hope everything ok with you. Havent seen you for a while.

Birdseed - my sister was pregnant the same time as me last time - I had ds 4 weeks before her dd arrived. We were both 2 weeks early and born by c-section. They look like twins/brother sister. When a bit younger they were a bit competative but now they get on really well. Am glad they are girl and boy as if same sex risk of them getting compared.

Skibump - you ok hun?

birdseed · 21/05/2007 11:16

yes is SIL's first too and my dh's parents first grandchildren (and my parents' 1st !). They told dh's parents at 9 1/2 weeks, which was a week and a bit ago for them and we haven't told them yet but are going to tell them at 12 weeks, although will be before nuchal scan.

I think that it will be really nice to have a cousin very close in age. But at present feel a bit as though they have stolen dh's thunder as his parents aren't going to be as excited with the 2nd granchild on the was as they are with the first.

I just hope that both are ok and get as far as term and are healthy, as would be awful if one didn't.

MamaMaiasaura · 21/05/2007 11:23

am sure it will be all ok On school walk today ds's cousins' mum was threre and she came over for a coffee. Told her I was preg and the first thing she does... talk about m/c's I said i really didnt want to talk about neg things (not her m/c a friend of a friend).. she said well u know the positive outcome and I am just trying ot prepare you in case the worst happens.. why why why?

goingfor3 · 21/05/2007 11:31

It's very busy on here!

I had my first midwives appointment this morning. She said it's stadard practice to see women as early as 7 weeks, a new initative to get the blood test as soon as possible. I have a scan and consultants appointment book for 26th of June, it seems so far away.

Bbabymumma · 21/05/2007 11:38

I wonder why she had that attitude? My sis's first reaction was like that as well. I couldn't imagine anything worse than m/cing at this point but I did read something in my pg book last night that said from 8 weeks onwards the risk of m/cing goes down to 15%.

I am very aware this doesn't help those who do m/c from that point and I'm not saying I'm out of the woods yet.

My fingers are firmly crossed for all of us.

Bbabymumma · 21/05/2007 11:39

ah I wondered why they wanted to see us all so early goingfor3! It's quite nice and reassuring though.

birdseed · 21/05/2007 12:16

think it depends on where you live...my area still seems to be a bit backwards and doesn't want to see me until 12 weeks, although had to ring up and change the appt as couldn't make it and so have got one for 11 weeks

How funny fruitful and awen that the same thing/similar happened to you with timing of sister/SIL's pregs!
