kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

7 weeks today. Felt icky for a bit but ate food and felt better . Been at manor farm today. Lots of cute baby animals and I didnt stroke a single one. DS did he was sat on the floor with nine little piglets all snuggled round.. very cute

Picked up pregnancy test again in superdrug.. walked ot counter and put it back [proud emocion]. I know it is sily to keep testing - kinda reassuring but tbh I think i should save those pennies for treating ds, which i then did

Watching madagascar at the mo, plan to have bangers, mash and gravy for tea and watch Dr Who. Apparntly my pics from fulkming last weekend are on the net so going ot have a peek at them.

Have put poison down for the mouse.. we did the trap thing before and they are sneaky buggers.. food gone and only ever caught 1 mouse.

Plummy - when did u qualify~? I finished my nurse training in October I am a mental nurse (kinda fitting)

Sheesh - i have waffled on - sorry

Glad to see it is so busy in here. Good luck with the Dr Jenswish - I lol about your dp having to make u a burger for breakfast.. I craved burgers with ds. I lost weight early days.. still not gained but not losing so drastically.

PinkElephant · 19/05/2007 17:29

Plummy and awen - hello fellow nurses. I too am a nurse. LOL to your story of nurses and alcohol plummy.....well we have to have some release now don't we. Awen I can't believe you qualified last year....I feel so old as I qualified in erm.... 1993

Aaah yes ...who has lost their sence of taste? I had that last week and everything needed so much salt and then I realised it could be the pregnancy. Hmmm don't think I'm experiencing windy bottom as yet...just nice bit of nausea in the evening but still over the moon at being pregnant so not complaining

plummymummy · 19/05/2007 18:48

Yes I keep telling myself the wind is just fine so long as my bean hangs on. That's funny - 3 of on the thread being nurses. Awen I'm a mental nurse too - how mental Qualified in 2002 but been in psychiatry (as in working!)since 1995. How about you pinkelephant? I miss alcohol. Last pgs I went off it straight away - not this time I might have half a glass or a low alcohol beer when dh and I go out tonight. I don't think there is any evidence that such a small quantity is harmful esp when combined with food. Anyway it might stop me obsessing for a while as I keep over analysing every little twinge.

Jenswish · 19/05/2007 19:05

if its any consellation my mum drank all through her pg (only a glass of wine mayb twice a week) and I'm fine. In fact 2 days before I was born (2 weeks late) she tried getting drunk but still nothing. lol

Realised this morning, i've got to worry about twins as my mum is a twin and her nan was.

MamaMaiasaura · 19/05/2007 21:41

Plummy - isnt a glass of red wine medicinal . Wow u r mental nurse too! I just finished a contract in PICU - ward was clsoing - was my first posting. tbh kinda glad it ended as was getting very volatile and day after i left there was an incident. Would love to go into adult community mental health - had brilliant placements there and also in HTS. What area are you in?

PinkElephant - yay another nurse - what area do u work in? you arent old.. I had major career change late on. Am 31.

I always have a windy bottom

Think the achy feeling is uterus stretching and also the fact i need a big poo!

Daisypops · 19/05/2007 22:14

Awww, hi girls, just crashing your thread. I can't believe there is a 'due Jan 2008 thread'. My dd was due on 11 Jan this year but arrived on the 10th after been induced.

Time flies. Been heavily pregnant at christmas isn't nice but its a good time to leave work. And January is always so boring after the festivites, but not for all of you!!! Still can't believe theres a 2008 thread

Lots of luck. xxx

gingeme · 19/05/2007 22:29

Hey awen too much info love. Still once youve given birth all you inibitions go straight out the window.Trust me on that one first timers
Went to Highgate woods today with ds's and it seemed everyone and there mother had a three wheeler buggy. We have a Quinny which is 3 wheels but it realy seemed that the four wheelers were the minority.
Sorry waffeling on here cause dh is watching a scary film and Im trying to ignore it
Off to bed now. Take care all

plummymummy · 20/05/2007 00:17

I work in a PICU in London. Yes it can be volatile. I don't want to tell my boss I'm pg yet as the minute I do I will become supernumary and everyone will guess. I wanted to wait a bit longer this time just in case. Was taken away from clinical work twice last year so reluctant to do that again as it just screams out "she's pregnant". I am doing what I can to stay safe. I am very skilled at de-escalation so wing it most of the time

letsgo · 20/05/2007 06:59

Can't sleep so thought I would read the threads to cheer me up! Boobs hurt so much I woke up (was trying to sleep on my tummy)

Chuckling at the alcohol stories. I was ashamed to admit that I was desperate for wine. DP said to have a sip of his so I did and ended up with heartburn and it tasted foul!

Awen - Think I have the same windy/aching uterus feeling. Pleasant isn't it?

told some friends who were round for dinner last night - they pretty much guessed as dh made a funny noise when pouring my glass of wine! i didn't give up drinking last pg, so won't this time, but obv cut back - just when i was getting into it again!.

jenswish - dh is convinced we're having twins (flopsy & mopsy or bubble & squeak) but there aren't any in the families so i don't think so! hope you can cope with 2 at a time, sounds possible for you!

think the wind is building here...

Imawurzel · 20/05/2007 09:00

Morning all. definately think i got to get me some windeze or something, some is trapped (i think) and the rest escapes.
Not good at work.
I burped while serving a customer the other day, said oops, sorry, not sure if they heard or not.
I've still got sense of taste at the moment. Boobs still aching but not as much now. Do sleep on my tummy, but then i think 'is it ok'? Must be, tis still small. 0.5-1inch now.

lisa111 · 20/05/2007 09:23

Lets go, katyt1, good morning. The only wind building here is from dp upstairs, he is having a lie in after drinking too many beers last night.

Toomanyshoes you did say someone on this thread is bound to have twins, looks like jenswish is the hot favourite.

Jenswish go and register yourself first thing tomorrow.

lisa111 · 20/05/2007 09:24

Imawurzel morning.

letsgo · 20/05/2007 09:49

Morning Lisa111. Hope it's not too windy!
I did a google search for yoga but nothing. Will see what my old yoga teacher thinks. I went for a walk yesterday and came over all dizzy and had to stuff my face v quickly so I didn't fall over..... I may give exercising a break for a while. Just aware that I've already put 2lbs on and I'm only 5 + 5 weeks. Will be as big as a house at this rate.

Sounds likely on the twins for Jenswish

lisa111 · 20/05/2007 09:53

A work friend of my mum's never gave up smoking or drinking with any of her 10 pregnancies, she drank vodka and coke every weekend.

gingeme · 20/05/2007 10:09

morning ladies . Feel realy rubbish this morning. Woke up at 5 am with a terrible headache. Think its a bloody migrane. Had loads at the beginning of my last pg too. Doesnt help ds4 now wakes at 6am for a bottle either. Just wish he would go that extra hour then he could go into ds3's room. Couldnt imagine them both waking at 6 .
Oh I was soooo windy yesterday. We went to the woods and I kept blowing off and saying'oh arent those trees creaky!'.
Not alot planned today.
Hope you all have a good one. x

lisa111 · 20/05/2007 10:23

Gingeme I had bad headaches too last time, only had 1 so far fingers crossed. Does ds4 go back to sleep after his bottle?

gingeme · 20/05/2007 11:11

Yes thank goodness well he plays for about an hour in his cot. Must re think the toys in there though as theyre all rather noisy. Then ds3 wakes about 8. So if I could get him to sleep till 7 then it wouldnt matter if he woke ds3 up then. They could chat till I get up.

MamaMaiasaura · 20/05/2007 17:08

Plummy - as son as I found out I told work anyway. Wasnt allowed to be involvedin restraints, rapid tranq or 1-1 observations. To be honest I really didnt mind not doing that part Am now enjoying the break and happy to be home for now.

Am weeing loads more waking at least once a night to go wee. Spent today at park, played a bit of tennis, wathced ds ride his bikem he had a play in play area too and very nice day. Just been playing on playstation with him the hardships of parenting eh?

Still not much sickness and bobs are sensitive but not unbearable.. Regret not buying pregnancy tests yesterday as think it must all be in my head even tho we have seen little beans heartbeat. DP said that if bean is a girl she might wrap him round her little finger.. LOL .. of course she will!

MamaMaiasaura · 20/05/2007 17:09

oo my typos!! as 'soon' not as son and 'boobs' not bobs

Jenswish · 20/05/2007 17:59

I'm feeling good today, still in my nightie but ive actually put some washing on and the dishwasher.

Just watched 2 films one called mom at sixteen (which i cried at when she handed the baby over for adoption) and bambi cos I wanted to watch a cute film (and cried when mum got shot) what the hell?! Hormones are us here!!

just fed the animals as they were all wingeing at me.

Just a question what does everyone think about paracetamol? had a headache for days was just wondering if it was safe to take them.

gingeme · 20/05/2007 18:41

Yes jenwish its about the only pain killer thats safe during pregnancy thenk goodness.
What animals do toy have? Will they adjust ok to a lo about?

katyt1 · 20/05/2007 18:45

hi jen, as far as i recall you can take paracetamol but not very often.
have you tried 4head? i used it last pg and it worked wonders.
tho be careful and don't put too much on like i did first time, it's a bit like having too much deep heat on your head!

been talking names, can't decide on boys, poss:
hamish, hugh, rory...
anyone else got name ideas yet?

been soooo tired today, luckily ds was happy to entertain himself whilst i watched tv/lay in garden/etc.

jens - just spotted the time of post, were you still in nightie at 6pm?! good going!

awen - that seems soon to be peeing at night already? crikey i'd forgotten that part, more disturbed nights ahead...

MamaMaiasaura · 20/05/2007 19:13

I would have thought that too katy1 but i looked it up today apparantly more common earlier as more pressure directly on bladder area.. as uterus moves out of pelvic area it is actually slightly better.. then you get the stress incontinence ..

fruitful · 20/05/2007 19:37

Can I join? Got a faint BFP on Friday and a pretty strong one today. AF is due tomorrow so I think I'll be on knicker watch but I think its ok.

I've never felt this pg this early - indigestion, feeling queasy, exhaustion, constipation ... Its not on! I was counting on another 3 weeks or so of feeling normal!

I have a dd who is 5 tomorrow and a ds who is 2.3. We've been trying for this bean since Christmas, and we never doubted that we wanted a 3rd. But now its going to happen the delight is definitely tinged with the "aaaaaaagh what have we done?" factor!
