Due at New Year....anyone else?!

kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

skibump · 18/05/2007 21:25

Jenswish, poor you. I'd head straight for a bath & bed if I were you, if you feel this grotty, you might as well be asleep

Plummy, no I don't mind at all if it's a girl, last time round I really wanted a girl, but ds is completely fab (obviously - pfb!) so I think whichever would be great.

Jenswish · 18/05/2007 21:27

Slept from about 4:30 till 8 today already. I'm going for a shower in abit anyway.

re: Sex, I want a girl to dress up but DP is really against a girl (not that he wouldn't love her or anything like that) he says he'd be an overprotective father. He wants a boy and we'll be name it "matthew frederick john miller" as for a girl I like melanie and Melissa. Has anyone else got any names?

MamaMaiasaura · 18/05/2007 21:30

been thinking about the sex of the baby a bit more. If we were to have a boy I think i stand a better chance of dp agreeing to another baby after as he wants a girl.. is that devious?

Jenswish · 18/05/2007 21:31

Very clever Awen. :-)

skibump · 18/05/2007 21:32

COngratulations and welcome kt

Barristermum, I was in ordinary clothes too until 4-5 months, but try Formes in Covent Garden for stuff which is a bit unusual. Not cheap but I got a couple of great things from there last time which I wore ALL the time.

Windy here too, v glamourous isn't it

skibump · 18/05/2007 21:35

Ooo I like Melissa. Can't think about names til I know the sex - and yes, I'll be finding out asasap

toomanyshoes · 18/05/2007 22:11

Hi ladies,
just a quick update to let you know that I had the results of my 2nd hcg test today and they had only risen by 5000 (should have risen by 20,000) so was told to go back for third blood test and that they wouldn't scan til monday (had initial bleeding & pain last sunday so over a weeks wait for an urgent scan!) Anyway went to in to EPAU and managed to convince them to scan me today and found a heartbeat!! Am so relieved, was totally convinced that i had miscarried or had an ectopic. they have no idea why my hcg didn't rise as much as it should and have discharged me
Great to see some more people joining in, will read through now and have a proper catch up, just wanted to let you know the good news...x

MamaMaiasaura · 18/05/2007 22:42

toomanyshoes - I am so so happy for you - how far along are you hun?

It is amazing to see heartbeat isnt it xxx

toomanyshoes · 18/05/2007 23:17

Thanks Awen! They said I look about right for my original dates which would make me 7 weeks and 3 days. It is great when you see a heartbeat isn't it, makes it seem so much more real!
have you seen the mouse again? We had them everywhere when we moved into our current house and I actually got desensitised to them after a while! DH and I used to watch the little buggers pop out of the gaps in the floorboard and eat the food off the traps whilst looking at us. Gave up on the traps in the end and put poison down everywhere - soon got rid of them.
Pink Elephant - not sure if you've decided on your flight dilemma yet but I travel a lot for work and when I had DD I flew loads from almost as soon as I got pregnant until I was 7 months. Was told by midwife, consultant and gp last time that there was no increased risk and will be flying again in 3 weeks time. I think if you think you'll have a nice time and a bit of a break you should go for it! If it was risky, the airlines wouldn't let you fly in early pregnancy. As it is they only specify the end of your pregnancy as higher risk (and I reckon thats just coz they dont fancy delivering your baby on the cockpit floor!)

plummymummy · 19/05/2007 00:33

Fantastic news toomanyshoes. You must be so relieved. Congrats katy Another windy one here, but mostly trapped wind luckily for dh but not so nice for me. Got some windeze today as was getting sharp pain in my side. Seems to have helped. By the way, been getting pains down there. Anyone else had this problem? Not bad pains but sort of dull ache.

katyt1 · 19/05/2007 09:14

thanks for all the congrats & welcomes.

we won't be finding out sex this time either tho i am already convinced it's a boy - only cos i can't think of any boys names i like.
if it's a girl it's mary.

not windy here...yet!

no pains down there either, can't help sorry.

i flew lots in last pg too, and will fly in this one - got a week in majorca with family (in-laws, deep joy) booked for sept).

congrats toomanyshoes

anyone told anyone yet? don't think i can keep it secret until 12weeks this time!!
may tell MIL next week as it's her birthday.
tho will lead to lots of fussing....
but she told me off last time for not telling her as soon as i found out, wtf?

lisa111 · 19/05/2007 09:39

Morning Ladies, its hard keeping up to date here.
With 2 teenage boys, as soon as they are in from school/work i cannot get near pc for love nor money.
toomanyshoes well done for not giving in they should of scanned you on monday, now you can enjoy the weekend.

Re sex i want a GIRL, i have 3 boys, if its a boy we wont need to buy a single thing as ds3 is only 10mths. But i will not be asking the sex, im havin a c/s so we will know the date it will be born.

Girl names?? Hollie, Kate, Nicole.
Boys names?? Karl, Sean, I love Fletcher but alas surname is Gardner can you imagine "Fletcher Gardner the grass needs cutting" (fetch a gardner the grass needs cutting) say it out loud and you'll know what i mean.

Still no sign of ms, boobs are fine, i have decided to go docs next week. My last af was 02/04 so due date around 07/01 what does that make me? 6 weeks.

Just made some egg and bacon but nobdy here to check if my egg is ok (dp in work kids in bed) it looked funny so i never ate it. I have no smell or taste (due to head injury after a fall downstairs drunk 3yrs ago) and once drank sour milk only noticed when glass was empty and all curdled up it. SORRY AWEN dont be sick. I have nearly gassed myself out a few times as well.

lisa111 · 19/05/2007 09:50

Katy1 you lucky sod i wanted as little an age gap as possible (so maternity leave would start as soon as 1 finished)

I will be 35 in July dp is 25(toyboy) he is amazing. my 3ds are 18 nearly 16 and baby daniel is 10months.

plummymummy its sitting at this computer all the time.

LilyLoo · 19/05/2007 09:59

morning ladies pink elephant r/e flight dilemma i have been advised no more risk of m/c if you fly. I would go tbh as i am off to chicago when i will be 8 weeks.
Toomanyshoes greaqt news bet that is such a relief.
Bleuuh about the mouse Awen we use to have them in our old house that backed on to fields am so glad we have moved now.
How everyone else ?
Welcome to the new additions hope all ok.
Not feeling too bad either at the min had some cereal and crumpet but the sickness seems to be subsiding a bit more now and tbh i am relieved. Managed to concentrate at work and get some work done. This was similair to my other pg's as i was much more sick in the first few weeks so i am not too worried just counting down the weeks to my scan, as everyone else. Hopefull i will get apt through after i see midwife on Tue.

letsgo · 19/05/2007 10:08

Good Morning All. I haven't been on this for over a week but glad to see that everyone appears to be ok. If a little sicky....

Just wondering if anyone knows of any pregnancy yoga in the Manchester area? I desperately want to do some exercise but don't want to do my usual ashtanga yoga because I've seen advice to say don't do it in the first trimester.

Anyone know of any?

Gonna ask the sex this time too. We did with ds4 as he was supposed to be our last baby

Imawurzel · 19/05/2007 10:45

Plummymummy, I have burps and wind
Didn't have much feeling of ms yesterday but this morning in bed i had a real bad wave of nausea (sp) So didn't get out of bed till nearly 10am
Just had some toast, so don't feel as bad now. I have weird shooting pains 'down there' every now and then. Not sure what thats about.
They start 'at the opening area' and kinda shoot up. makes me move to the side and go ooh ooh Strange.
have a said i got midwife coming for chat on 5ht june? well she is. Then i cant wait for the scan.
I would like a girl, so i can dress her up.DH would like a boy, so he can take him to footie etc. for a girl we like mia, DH likes tamara at the moment.
For boy we both like jack. cant really think of many boys names. Our surname is Edge so initials are a thing to think about. Cant have Luke. (L.edge, geddit)
Oh,just realised hoe long this post was.

gingeme · 19/05/2007 10:49

Imawurzel we used to have a Tamara at school and it was shortened to Tammy! Do you want your daughter to be named after sanitary protection?

Imawurzel · 19/05/2007 10:55

Good point. I will mention that to DH. Didn't think of that. I even said it'd be shortened to tammy.

Jenswish · 19/05/2007 12:52

Another bad day here. DP made me a burger for breakfast as that was all I fancied and haven't eaten since last night. I weighed myself again and i've lost 7lbs in just over a week. I need to see a doc but can't get an appointment cos i'm not registered anywhere!!!!! I'm starting to get worried.

The air is getting bad over here as well now!! haha

PinkElephant · 19/05/2007 12:59

You'll be pleased to hear I have finally made a decision about my trip to Canada ...phew!! Not only will I worry that I'll put my beanie at any risk and have more problems again this time, I also dwelled on the fact I'm mid thirties and haven't got much time to play if anything goes wrong again. BUT the final straw is my nausea . We decided with my yukky evening sickness which comes on about 5pm and lasts all evening (boo hoo)that no only will I feel hideous all week eating out but the possibility of barfing on the bride is not a good idea Aaah the relief of a decision made

Jenswish · 19/05/2007 13:02

Glad to hear everything is all good with everyone. Wish I'd got to see my beanie! I want to see!!! hahaha.

Anyway, Hope your all good today.

plummymummy · 19/05/2007 16:12

good news about your beanie pink elephant Hows the wind imawurzel? Mine has been a bit better today. Lucky so far as nausea so mild but I think it kicked in at 7 weeks with ds, so few to go. Lisa how awful not being able to taste or smell. I broke my arm when drunk and had to go to student placements with my arm in plaster. More embarassing because I was a student nurse and kept getting those looks which say "You should know better". My mum was mortified when she accompanied me to A&E but I told her not to worry as they drink more than all other nurses put together
