Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

I'm feeling a bit pink and fluffy - but then I did last time too and got a boy, so who knows I don't mind which I get, do you have a preference?

skibump · 18/05/2007 15:07

Worse than that, I think mine actually bring them in and then let them escape while they're playing with them!

plummymummy · 18/05/2007 15:10

Truthfully? Don't all pounce on me as I would be incredibly thankful for a healthy baby whatever the sex - but, I would love a girl. However, lots of good reasons for a boy too. Can share a room with ds. Have lots of clothes that can be reused - though many that can't due to being wrong season. Little boys love brothers. I know what to do with a blue one Oh and dh can take them both to footie while I put my feet up

plummymummy · 18/05/2007 15:12

V funny about your cats. I didn't think of that. Maybe she did bring them in............nah, she's too lazy for all that lark. She's sitting in her basket without a care in the world. I would love to be a cat for the day.

skibump · 18/05/2007 15:15

Yeah, in some ways I'd quite like a boy, thinking 2 boys will play together etc. I know dh wants a girl (one of each), plus that way I'd still be able to tell ds he's my favourite boy in the world

skibump · 18/05/2007 15:17

I heard about a guy who wondered what his cats did all day, so set up a webcam to watch them - the answer was sleep. Hmm, seems quite appealing at the moment!

plummymummy · 18/05/2007 15:27

I'd like to see what mine gets up to in other people's gardens (apart from pooing )

plummymummy · 18/05/2007 15:29

So would you mind if it's a girl? Also, do you want to find out the sex or wait?

barristermum · 18/05/2007 15:35

We are all SO nervous aren't we - knocking on wood and panicking at too many symptoms/not enough/change/no change. Awen - really sympathise but sure pg gods are just giving you a bit of a break.
I had a huff at dh lastnight - I wheel a small suitcase to work + he was asking me why I am feverishly reading all pg books I can and I explained how panic-stricken we all are and how this time drags. He asked why people ms + i said nature's way/alcohol/smoking/heavy lifting, and he said just be careful with your suitcase. I really snapped "thanx, so if i ms I can always look back and think it's my fault". He looked mortified - I felt complete bitch .
Re wedding clothes - how big mite I be in mid-oct - we have a low-key gay wedding in madrid to go to - think flying ok but clothes cd be ltd?
Hey plummymummy - scroll back in the list and find all our due dates and add self in.
Have luvly weekends all.

barristermum · 18/05/2007 15:47

Re the mice - I have friend whose cat bought baby rat into house and she thought she'd imagined it as it couldn't be found. Then weeks later ENORMOUS rat seen racing across floor - she discovered her kids had been posting orange peel etc down the back of the radiator when watching tv and there was apositive rat larder there. She got in a neighbours jack russell who killed it with 1 nip to the neck! Blearrrgh.

MamaMaiasaura · 18/05/2007 16:59

waiting for dp to come home. Not sure if mouse or very big spider..; either way.. ewww. Had mice upstairs a few months ago. Am sure it is because we have a bunny outside and hamster inside and they are attracted cos of smell of thier food.

All crampy now, so having quick rest. Am sure I can feel uterus above pelvic bone but might be c-section scar. Does it rise high enough yet? Well they did get a view with scan and had completely empty bladder as was sure they would go the other route.

Re sex - dp wants a little girl. I dont mid although if it is a little girl, I can still say to ds he is the best boy in the world to me And will re-use ds's clothes on her.. she can be a tomboy. DP thinks if a little girl she will be a daddys girl.. heh heh .. Ds and I will encourage her to the dark side and torment poor dp even more..

Housemum · 18/05/2007 17:34

Barristermum - how many weeks will you be then? A lot of insurance policies only cover you up to 28 weeks, or 12 weeks before EDD whichever is soonest. As for size, you'll be pretty pregnant looking then so it'll be maternity wear. But the clothes have improved a LOT in the last 4 years! So you should find something nice and not too pricey - perhaps when you start looking for maternity stuff you could look at tops that can be dressed up with accessories so you don't splash out on a one-off occasion outfit?

Housemum · 18/05/2007 17:38

We had a mouse in our garage last year that did me a big favour in decluttering - we had loads of boxes from our loft on shelves in the garage, I went to get DD1's old ballet cardi - took lid of first box, picked up gorgeous Monsoon cardi only to find it fell apart in my hands - little bugger had made a nest in the back of it! We gutted the whole garage - no sign of the beast but it had chomped through loads of stuff. Worst one was the only item of my own baby clothing I had - a flanelette nighty that was with my box of dolls as I used to dress my doll in it. Nothing left except a tiny but of the embroidered bunny from the front.

plummymummy · 18/05/2007 19:16

Oh no, didn't realise they ate clothes too. Barristermum - hard to say. Is this your second pg? With my first I could still fit into my own clothes at 4-5 months, no way that will happen again I reckon.

Imawurzel · 18/05/2007 19:21

Hello all. Not read all posts, Hows everyone doing?
My boobs don't ache as much today, and don't feel as icky as i have been for the past week. Reckon it's gone??
[hopeful emoticon]
Am still feeling a tad blosted though. Every now and then i do get a pain in my left side. Must have tea in a bit. Having fish and chips tonight. mm.

plummymummy · 18/05/2007 19:25

I got some windeze today as have trapped wind in my left side. Safe to use in pregnancy.

Imawurzel · 18/05/2007 19:27

Reckon thats what it is then?
Am very windy, more than normal since i got pregnant. Burps and parps.

plummymummy · 18/05/2007 19:29

Could be. I was worrying myself about the pain but then I erm released a bit of gas and pain subsided a little so I thought must be trapped wind. Anyway, thought nothing to lose and will put my mind at rest.

birdseed · 18/05/2007 20:05

welcome barristermum and plummymummy - congratulations to you both. Fingers crossed for you both... and for the rest of us!

Life a good bit better for me today - feel less sick, have got an offer on flat ( had been fed up with estate agents showing people round flat until 8pm many nights each week, not an offer we would accept, but getting close!), dh got home at a decent time for the fist time in ages and got my scan appointment through!....much happier!

Nuchal scan on 20th June, so still over a month away, but nice to feel that I haven't been forgotten!

I am moving house at about 19 weeks. It's my first so I'm a bit clueless about how things work...does anyone have any advice what I should do about getting the fetal anomaly scan booked at the hosp in my new city? Don't want to miss out!

Got the info through from hosp near me and looks as though I may not get a booking appointment until 16 weeks, which is a bit disappointing. Hmmm! Hopefully won't make any difference to preg but would be nice to be seen and tben try and sort out referral to cambridge

gingeme · 18/05/2007 20:09

Evening ladies. I think pregnancy is the only time women can get away with so much wind whereas men seem to any time
Id love a pink one as I already have 4 boys. But dh says its another boy cause he 'only does boys'. Well we can only wait and see eh
Barristermum try Ebay for maternity clothes. They have some lovely stuff on there and pretty good prices too.
Tried the famous waffle sandwich for lunch today. Ate about half of it and gave the half of waffle to ds3.
Right off to watch Eastenders and then jump in the bath.
Have a good weekend all xx

katyt1 · 18/05/2007 20:34

Got to the point today that I was being sick but nothing much coming up.
