kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

lisa111 · 17/05/2007 15:11

Hi girls,
I have got to stay off this computer it is addictive, although i just bought ds3 a baby swing and slide £13.00 for both dp is picking them up tonight.

Ive done no housework or ironing and cant even use ms as an excuse cos i have none?

Awen you have my ms as well as your own

MamaMaiasaura · 17/05/2007 15:48

would u think it rude of me to offer it back to u lisa? i'll pay postage

Have growled at ds. Was trying to rest quietly and he kept pestering me. SO i explained that i really needa little rest.. didnt he listen? of course not, he's 7. He is now in his bed feeling sorry for himself and be told to think about what it means to be off school sick (eg quietly occupy time, relax etc.. not irritate mummy to distraction).. probably my hormones being all evil too .. used this post to give me time to cool off

barristermum · 17/05/2007 16:45

This is completely addictive isn't it - esp as its the only place I can talk about it really. I feel I'd jinx something if too many knew - felt so sad for Victorvictoria and beansprout at the start of this thread and just don't want to lose any others. Have just made my 1st drs appt so long way off birth method but would really appreciate advice later from the rest of you who have so much more experience. Am amazed some are already booking into hsp - should I be doing that or will GP assist when I see her next week?
Awen - your son is just starting to learn to cope with less of your one-on-one time for when no.2 comes along! Don't feel bad. love to all.

MrsMcJnr · 17/05/2007 17:05

Awen ? your dinner sounded nice! poor you feeling so crap. Love the bum boobs comment ? mine are ridiculous am being naughty though and am not moving over to mat bras until I get new ones from Bravissimo, the old ones (how ironic ? I had them for 5 weeks!) are too itchy!

Thanks Jenswish I think you should tell your Dr about the brown stuff just in case it needs to be investigated. Better safe than sorry Mine got me scanned for brown stuff.

Funny Gingeme ? last time round, I couldn?t get enough apples and appletise! do fancy an appletise actually!

Goingfor3 ? not surprised! How do you feel about home births?

Scotgirlinoz sorry you feel crap!

Lisa111 ? glad I am not the only one without MS, was feeling left out!

Barristermum ? I?m with you ? no one leaves!! last time round, I didn?t hear a thing from the MW even though I submitted my booking in form at 5 weeks and was told I would get a date within a week. I felt really abandoned. I lost my baby at 10 weeks (sorry to mention the dreaded thing ladies) and left a message on the MW answerphone to explain that I needed to come out of the system and could she call me, she never did

Must go home ? catch up later!

Bbabymumma · 17/05/2007 17:31

oh appletise yum.

So much to catch up on and not enough time! I have had MAJOR sick day today. All day nausea- never had it this bad with dd. I look like a ghost as well. I know its bad but its lovely to know other people who are feeling the same (though I don't wish it on anyone!). My dd is getting quite used to me wretching over kitchen sink. Mum is cooking me tea - I am so spoiled. Have to go its ready.

Will catch up later x

goingfor3 · 17/05/2007 18:00

Hi MrsMcJnr,

I hope all is going well for you. I love the idea of a homebirth but unfortunatley I have GBS and despite having antibiotics in labour both of my girls needed antibiotics at birth due to getting an infection. I will ask for this baby to be given the antibiotics straight away, seems unnessecary to wait until it's ill given past history. I'm just worried that because there is such a big demand at this hospital the unit will be closed to new admissins and I will have to travel quite far from home, given that my labours have halved in time each time it's really not a good option for me. Seems sill to worry about these things now at the 6 week stage!

Housemum · 17/05/2007 18:28

Goingfor3 - I keep thinking ahead - I suppose it's to stop me worrying about every niggle now! I was going through in my mind today making sure that DH doesn't get booked any residential courses in December, and doesn't go visiting his far-flung customers so he's not more than an hour or so away!! Then I'm working out which contingency plan to have for the DDs, who'll have them etc etc. i also have a virtual shopping list in my head of maternity wear, new pram, decent maternity underwear (DD has promised me some nice stuff from figleaves.com for Xmas!!!) Perhaps I should actually concentrate on today not Xmas??!!

goingfor3 · 17/05/2007 18:34

Glad I'm not the only one Housemum! I have no idea what I will do if one child is at nusery and the other is at school and DP is on a client site and my mums not in. The timing of the girls labours where so good that this one just has to be difficult! I'm going to a couple of wedding in July and August and keep scouring the internet for what I'm going to wear. I guess it's easier than worrying about what's happening now and concentrating on getting past the twelve week mark.

Housemum · 17/05/2007 18:42

I'm going to a wedding in mid-July - so I hope that by then I have not so much of a bump that I need full-on maternity stuff but enough that I look pregnant not fat! I have a bias-cut dress that should be OK as it will cling round the bump if I have one. If it's not obvious it's a baby bump I'll need a rethink...

(Doesn't help that the bride is slim, French and glamorous!)

wuzzlefraggle · 17/05/2007 18:52

Sorry to crash your thread ladies, and congrats to all btw. but i have a message for Jenswish.

Jen luvly!! if you want to keep track of the 'oldies' (so to speak lol) from the ttc thread last year, heres a link to the new thread Corriander started Would be great to chat and catch up with you there

Linkedy Link

Jenswish · 17/05/2007 19:39

The brown stuff has stopped for the past few days so not too worried. More worried about the fact I can't get docs apt I think I will try to book with the hospital instead.

Hope your all ok. I'm knackered, sick and oh yeh I've got the flu from DP so of corse it's MANFLU and I don't do colds very well so I might as well have man flu.

plummymummy · 17/05/2007 19:50

Hello ladies. Might, if I may, join you at some stage. Bbabymumma - I'm not far from you (S. Croydon) and my mum lives in Caterham

Jenswish · 17/05/2007 19:51

welcome plummymummy - how are things going for you?

LilyLoo · 17/05/2007 19:53

wow lot's more new faces everyone!
The sickness not been too bad today just confined to morning so ate a huge bowl of cereal and felt much better. I would love a home birth this time. I wanted a water birth with both but ds was an induction and dd came whilst they were filling pool
Keep me updated on the wedding outfits i going to one in August dp glad i saved him £125 for the room as i am now the designated driver.
Jen if it's stopped it prob like what Awen said !

Jenswish · 17/05/2007 19:56

I quite like the idea of a waterbirth. Also want natural as possible. Have already told DP that if I start saying I want some help he has 2 ask me 3 times (at least 5 mins between them) if i'm sure.

DP wants to get married before LO is born so woldn't mind knowing what to wear. (not a big white wedding though just a civil affair till LO is born then BIG wedding)

LilyLoo · 17/05/2007 20:02

aah how lovely jenswish! i still waiting for any type of wedding depite this being the 3rd
I would quite like to have a water birth at home i think i am determined to do it my way this time.
Imo i wouldn't get too hung up about the type of labour your going to have as things can change in an instant, although it is nice to have an idea what you would like in an ideal situation.

MamaMaiasaura · 17/05/2007 20:29

space ready and waiting for you plummymummy!! xxx love to you and mr plummymummy

skibump · 17/05/2007 20:33

Wow, busy thread! I've been away, and it's taken me AGES to catch up - dh has had to cook dinner

Re heartburn, I found Gaviscon was great and it's perfectly safe. In fact you can get it prescribed (ie free!) by your GP if you need it

Re sickness, if ginger is your thing then try Green & Black's chocolate and ginger icecream - yummy

Everything seems very well here, in fact I feel so good I'm wondering if it's all true? for those feeling sick and generally rubbish, felt good last time too tho, so hoping I'm just lucky. Went to register at new docs on Tuesday, and I have a booking appt with MW 2 weeks today. Still seeems early, will only be 7-8wks (i think), but the sooner the better now. I really want to see my little bean is ok - v excited by news from those who already have

skibump · 17/05/2007 20:40

Last time I had a waterbirth at a maternity unit. That was great if it's an option open to anyone (maternity units seem a bit few & far between). It's prbly not poss this time, so I'd like a waterbirth at home...or whatever it takes to get a happy, healthy baby

THREAD HIJACK - oooh, bbabymama and plummymummy, it's possible we'll be moving down near you. DH is working loads in London and we've been thinking about moving nearer, what's it like around Woldingham and Whyteleafe?

PinkElephant · 17/05/2007 22:14

Hi all,
Can I get your ideas on flying ladies.... We've got brief holiday booked in Canada for a friends wedding in 10days time. By then I will be 7wks pregnant - do you think it is safe to fly? Would you go or stay and put your feet up? I had an ectopic at NYear and have had my first scan today which shows the sac is in the right place this time, which is such a relief. Have nice big cyst next to it causing me some cramps and generally feel a bit washed out and queasy but otherwise am ok......help what would you do?

gingeme · 17/05/2007 22:21

Sorry but Id stay put. I was always told its not safe to fly the first and third trimester though if you feel you realy want to ask your gp/mw and the airline. They dont always let pg ladies fly.
Good advice skibump on the Gaviscon thing though I did find myself living on it by the end of my last 2 pgs.
ginger yuk !!!

PinkElephant · 17/05/2007 22:27

Gingeme - I asked the nurse after my scan today and she said there was no evidence to suggest that it increases miscarriages etc or evidence to prove that it doesn't . So either way, she said she couldn't make the decision for me but that I would have the same risks as everyone else with a slight increased risk of DVT.....gawd so confused. Maybe I should stay at home, put my feet up and do everything in my power to remain pregnant......don't want to loose this beanie too

skibump · 17/05/2007 22:30

Pinkelephant, here you are! (I posted on your other thread)

Gingeme, agree, it tastes vile, but better than the alternative

gingeme · 17/05/2007 22:32

That sounds like a good idea. Im sure the people who are getting married will understand. Just isnt worth the risk. I think your beanies a bit more important at the moment. He he weve nick named ours pip
Right realy off to bed now.
Night x
