Due at New Year....anyone else?!

kerm · 24/04/2007 12:36

Have just found out that I am pregnant. Blimey! A bit nervous/scared! DH says scared is too strong a word. Might be from his side of things but I think that I'm scared!
Due 31st Dec or 1st Jan, can't quite work out whether cycle is 29 or 30 days.
First time, so not too sure what to expect!
Anyone else due at new year?

GoingFor3 - you just reminded me of a question re farm trips - does anyone know what the best thing to do is? I know you need to avoid lambs when pg - is it OK to go along with DD's farm trip and just be extra vigilant re handwashing or is it best to avoid altogether? DH says he's happy to go with her, I'd rather like to go but if there's any risk I don't need to take I'll stay home.

birdseed · 16/05/2007 12:23

Re farm trip - I rang up Tommy's midwife helpline as had spent 2 weekends staying on a sheep farm and doing lots of walking by the time I was 6 weeks!...and was worried about toxoplasmosis. They say sheep poo, not a risk, but steer clear of lambing, or placentas or lambs just born which still have blood on them. I think lambing was a few weeks back now, so I don't think that you should be exposed.

But if you are going to worry about it afterwards, then let dh go.

birdseed · 16/05/2007 12:24

wow goingfor3, that seems super early! But quite nice at the same time!
Hope it's not too stressful with school arrangements

Bbabymumma · 16/05/2007 13:34

I recently went to a farm for the day with my dd but just tried not to touch much and washed my hands alot (even bought some anti-bac handwipes!).

I think birdseed is right though. Go only if you are happy.

Goingfor3 - will you keep appointment or try to change it?

Awen - how's the roast?

goingfor3 · 16/05/2007 13:57

The GP made me an urgent appointment as I need to have a cervical sututre at around 12 weeks. I asked for a later one but the clinic said that because it's urgent I just have to take what I'm given! I'm not even sure if it's with a midwife, these are usually done at the gp surgery, or with a doctor. 6+6 does eem to early to have the midwife booking in appointment.

LilyLoo · 16/05/2007 14:00

Mines 7+2 thoguh goingfor3 and had no probs to date with any other pg's or this one so far.

gingeme · 16/05/2007 17:01

Hi Folks, Just wanted to join in and have put myself on the list. It feels so early and as can't do this in RL am so pleased to be able to share the angst and joy with you. This is my 1st and follows 18mths oftrying when I was just about to assume infertile and seek Drs help. DH is tearfully thrilled and I am PARANOID re MC. Constipated and slightly woozy-headed but no real other symptoms and wishing for full-on sickness to reassure self (Bet that comes back to bite me!!) Just held friends day old baby and felt longing SWEEP over me.

Welcome barristermum. You dont get every symptom every time. Dont wish the sickness on yourself its awful. I didnt get any symptoms with my second ds . Sickness or heartburn. The only day I had sickness was when he turned head down. Unfortunately I had the whole lot with the others.

Am really nervous and can't get a docs apt, am thinking of calling the hos direct to get with a midwife as I haven't registered with any doctors up here yet.

Hope you and Bambino's are all great!

Imawurzel · 16/05/2007 19:55

I dont like the constant bloated feeling.
Feel like i've got a painful tummy too sometimes. Strange. Not the same as the bloated feeling.
8 weeks tomorrow.

MrsMcJnr · 16/05/2007 20:56

Hey ladies It?s really nice that there is quite a broad spectrum of experience on here. Gingeme ? you seem to have the most experience

Mumto3girls ? I swithered about joining and then thought that if I didn?t join now, I would have so much more to catch up and so many more ladies to meet when I did so even though ? like you ? I am really nervous, I decided to go for it! Hope you join soon.

Birdseed ? glad to hear you are feeling a bit better now social occasions are hard, last time round I went to them all and conned all my pals that I was drinking and was totally exhausted all the time. This time, I?m clearing the calendar pretty much and if anyone asks me outright if I am pg, I?m going to tell the truth because it just adds stress to an already stressful time if I lie but that?s just me

KB75 hello! We?ve met briefly on the pg after MC thread. The fetal pole is the beginnings of the baby itself within the yolk in the gestational sac, ?inconclusive? will mean that they have not seen a HB I think but then, you are early for that so try not to worry, I know that is much easier said than done (and you?ll be telling me the same on Monday after my scan when I hardly see a thing but hopefully it?ll be in the right place and that?s good enough for me at the mo!). If you?re anything like me, you?ll want the time to pass quickly until the next scan and then will panic when there is only one sleep left and want to go back a week. I?m rooting for you and your beanie! Hang on in there!

Lilyloo ? coffee is a killer, I don?t drink it but they brew it in my office and the smell makes me queasy. I am not at all sick ? I almost wish I was, I?d feel more secure if you know what I mean but my sense of smell is so acute that I can smell people?s breath when they talk to me and that can make me feel sick Your trip sounds exciting!

Hey Awen how are you feeling? More relaxed? thanks for the welcome ? love the fact that the new sofa my have had a part to play I think ours was conceived on 26th April, my Dad?s B?day and the day I got my thrombophilia results

Thank you FlossALump that was really sweet of you! How are you doing these days?

Gingeme ? hope you feel better soon.

BBabymumma ? I?ve been having vivid dreams too ? like raunchy sex with my ex boss who I happened to meet up with for lunch today, I could hardly look him in the eye

Goingfor3 ? hope the appointment goes well. The exhaustion should pass after first trimester shouldn?t it? Or is that wishful thinking?

Welcome Barristermum I am a first timer too and know exactly what you mean about the constipation and the woozy-head, that?s me too, but no sickness either

Jenswish ? hope you get a Drs appointment soon. Take care of yourself.

Imawurzel ? I?m with you on the bloating too

MamaMaiasaura · 16/05/2007 21:03

Jenswish - re the weight loss thing.. I too have been losing weight - altho I think that has now stopped and staying the same. I know your metabolism increases when pregnant so in theory your body is burning off more calories and if you dont have much of an appetite I guess that means a loss of wieght..

I would mention it to the dr tho just to be sure. I find eating helps now with naseua!! now found that out I dont seem to be losing weight. Is hard to eat when feeling ick - actually get off my arse to get food but once I am eating i start to feel better. Think is to do with sugar levels and stuff too.

Our roast dinner was yummy scrummy Roast chicken, potatos, roast carrots (yuck), brocolli, yorkies and lovely gravey

Jenswish · 16/05/2007 21:07

Hi Mrs Mc Jnr - Thanks for the well wishes. Hope the little beanie prospers in there!!

Is anyone else TMI ALERT getting really cloggy brown stuff? Also I wiped the other day and got one streak of red stuff. With the MC's I keep panicking everytime I get cramps in my stomach lol. so apologies if I annoy the hell outta you all.

Jenswish · 16/05/2007 21:09

Anwen - I can't be arsed with the getting of food either but if its in front of me I can eat small amounts. I've got plenty of fat to burn off so i'm not exactly starving myself or beanie, lol. Thanks for the advice

MamaMaiasaura · 16/05/2007 21:49

Jen - I havent lost anything like that but midwife said if I lose brown not to worry as evidence of a small bleed in uterus (although apparantly nothing to worry about too much). She said if i have fresh blood loss then would need to be scanned. I dont know if this is any help. x

gingeme · 17/05/2007 10:00

Jenwish Im not sure how many weeks you are but you can get a little brown or red bleed for a couple of days as a plantation bleed. I think thats what its called where the placenta implants into the womb or something like that. When I had my mc I didnt get any cramps just a little bleeding when I wiped then had an internal scan and was told there was no fetus just the sac so it was more or less like a heavy period. Ttc about 3 months later and fell straight away with ds3.
Hope your all feeling ok today Im still a bit sicky but find apples pretty good to stem it. Oh well having a day in today. Weathers too rubbish to go out.
Take care all
xxx

MamaMaiasaura · 17/05/2007 10:06

I really really feel sick. lying in bed now. thought would throw on way back from school run. not sure which end to put on toilrt. one finger typing v slow.

gingeme · 17/05/2007 11:02

Oh awen take it easy babe.

goingfor3 · 17/05/2007 11:38

Morning ladies,

I feeling really peed off. My booking appointment is not at the local hospital it's at another hostpital because my local one is very busy at the moment - they have never had so many people booking in there at once. I blame Panorama, people are going to the QE2 rather than Barnet general which means it's going to be totally over crowded when it's time to give birth and they will probably have to close for admissions! I'm really not happy!

gingeme · 17/05/2007 11:43

You must live near me goingfor3. What hospital you got ot go to instead then? No think Id be pretty peed off too. Will it just be for the booking in appt though or for your whole pre natal care? Im with a midwife led team at North Middlesex hospital though I had ds4 at home.

ScotGirlInOz · 17/05/2007 11:53

hi ladies

hope you are all feeling well. I have been sick physically twice and am suffering from all day nausea! Lovely....not! . I am thinking it might be a boy because it is so different from being pg with DD. I know that no two pregnancies are the same but I just feel really different!

goingfor3 · 17/05/2007 11:57

gingeme, I live in welwyn garden city. Instead of booking in at the QE2 I have to go to Hertford County. After that my appointments should be at my GP's surgery. I was near you a couple of weeks ago as we bought our car from New southgate motor co, pity I can't drive it though! I used to live near you in Palmers Green.

MamaMaiasaura · 17/05/2007 12:38

The waffle sandwich has worked again.. DS wanted one too, bless him. I am feeling much better than earlier and managed the washing up and stuff too. Quite achey lower tummy but think that is uterus stretching out

DS said something really funny yesterday about my boobs. 'Mummy your boobies look different, more like a bottom' LOL (they arent so droppy anymore but still huge.

He told me today that he is proper;y sick (well he is) and mine are 'just hormones'. Dont you just love them! He is 7 and very funny.
