That's so frustrating MrsDneedsab I got mine from hospital at 20 week scan. There's a cut off date for telling work 're maternity dates too so surgery should be aware that people need the certificate asap

Jeds55 · 12/12/2017 10:41

Have my 25 week midwife appt later today (bit early due to Xmas). Hoping to hear the heartbeat ad still not feeling much movement. You've just reminded me about prescription exemption form too, thanks

MrsDneedsaB · 12/12/2017 10:56

Haha glad I could help Jeds 😁
I've got my first consultant appointment on Friday morning so I'm not too fussed about seeing my GP next week if I can't. I doubt they'll have anything productive for me that the consultant won't have already said.

Has anyone been consultant led before? First appt at 24 weeks doesn't really feel consultant led imo! Don't really know how many times I'm supposed to be seen. It's only due to my BMI and my ante-natal endocrinologist fobbed me off in the beginning so I'm not getting half the care I was expecting to get

Testar0ssa · 12/12/2017 12:57

MrsD me too re consultant led. Was for DC1 as well. It was no big deal. I think I saw consultant once or twice over and above other midwife appointments and it was just to make sure I was happy with everything/they were happy with what midwife was doing.
My consultant is great and it was nice to know a face when I went in to be induced.

Re all this talk of mat leave, I worked until 39.5 last time. Hoping to do likewise again as have only wangled max of 6 months out of office. I drive to close to work though and have a desk based job so not having to fight physical tiredness on top of preggers tiredness.

ClaireBear1986 · 12/12/2017 14:37

I was just going to pick my Matb1 form up at my next app (26 weeks) but then I started worrying that would be too late after reading on here.

I have rang my Midwife and I am going to collect it from her on Sat morning. So thanks guys, I might have been too late handing it in if it wasn't for you :)

harrietm87 · 12/12/2017 17:36

They're not allowed to give out matB until at least 20 weeks (not sure why), and then you have to give it to your employer by 25 weeks, so it is a bit tight!

I'm also supposed to be consultant led (recurrent mcs and Hashimoto's) but haven't seen them at all yet! I know they are keeping a close eye on my bloods and I have them done every 4 weeks, but that's it as far as I know - the midwife liaises with them rather than me at this stage.

boatrace30 · 12/12/2017 18:41

Just as reassurance... this is from government website and mat b1 can be handed in later. I was worried as have 24week appt tomorrow but if I don't get the form I won't be able give it to work until I'm 27weeks due to Xmas hols.
So I checked and it says 21days before baby is born.

I mean 21 days before Mat leave starts!

harrietm87 · 12/12/2017 18:47

Ah I see boatrace. In order to qualify for SMP you have to tell your employer by week 25 and mine requests the MatB1 at the same time. I did think it was an unfairly tight timescale!

boatrace30 · 12/12/2017 19:41

Yes I think they like to have the mat b1 at the same time but they don't NEED to have it. I'd be impressed at anyone who managed to not tell their employer by week25. My bump has exploded this week and I've had what I think is really bad round ligament pain to go with it!

Aspenn17 · 12/12/2017 21:58

@MrsD when I forgot to get my MATB1 at my 20 week scan I called them the next day and they told me to pop back in with my notes and the receptionist sorted me out with it in about 2 mins.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 13/12/2017 09:17

Ooh, exciting times all round sorting out mat leave! Happily I don’t have to worry about it this time round as already a SAHM. Tessa you’re brave going to 39+5 - my DC1 was born at 40+1 but DC2 decided to turn up at 39w!
MissYeti classes definitely aren’t compulsory. I’ve never been to an antenatal class in my life and I’ve managed to do an ok job with my 2 so far Smile you’ll figure it all out as you go along and find out what works for you (which might not be the official NHS rule anyway, tbh).

I’ve been rubbish at posting (don’t think I’ve been on this thread at all yet) but have been reading & keeping up. 21 weeks now, had 20w scan last week and all well, still Team Yellow. Have an anterior placenta so baby seems very quiet compared to my others at this stage, but getting enough movements to keep me happy and not worrying too much.
I mostly keep forgetting about the pregnancy thing at the moment - been so busy sorting out xmas, making sure we’re all sorted and set! I feel like once we’re through Christmas I can really concentrate on having a baby - think it will come round super quick after that too!

ClaireBear1986 · 13/12/2017 15:05

It all gets a bit confusing with all the dates.

I want to my Mat Pay/Leave forms in as early as possible, as my Manger is being very awks about my pregnancy so far and I don't want to give her any reason to say I am not entitled to SMP.

I'm looking forward to 5th March and escaping all this unnecessary stress!!

Aspenn17 · 15/12/2017 08:41

Morning all! Hope everyone is feeling Christmassy!

Quick tip in case anyone from London and who gets the train into work doesn't know this, but if you have a season ticket, my train (southwestern) do a Mums2B upgrade, where they upgrade you to first class after 20 weeks so you're garenteed a seat. Might be worth looking into on other trains if they have similar schemes.

How's everyone got on with work Christmas parties this week? I was dreading mine but actually really enjoyed it, ended up staying out until about 11.30 and even wore heels, which these days is pretty wild for me 😂

olicat · 15/12/2017 09:37

Aspen that's great about South Western! I wish tfl made designated preggo carriages on the tubes 😂

Off work today with a rotten cold, am very rarely ill but my immune system evidently isn't playing ball! Doesn't feel nice being pregnant, can't help but worry!

olicat · 15/12/2017 09:37

Haha that should have said doesn't feel nice being ill when pregnant!

MissYeti · 15/12/2017 10:55

Here's my little teddy bear! Was a little pain in the hip and wouldn't move from his comfy spot no matter how much wiggling and jumping around I did 😔 had three separate scans with walk about time in between to try and get him to move... Managed to get everything in the end, only took about an hour 😂 still a boy and still on track for 23rd April!

Lovely pic MissYeti he must be well comfy where he is! Glad they got all the measurements they needed this time.
Just got back from partners family Xmas do (going my parents for xmas). Really hard not drinking and had argument with partner as he got pretty drunk and annoying. Drunk people are so annoying when sober. Would always drink at these things before pregnancy. Was lovely day but glad am in bed now Smile

ClaireBear1986 · 18/12/2017 09:23

I 2nd that for designated tube carriages. I get such bad anxiety going home on the tubes now.

How are you feeling now @Olicat? I had Friday off as well, as I have felt rotten for about 2 weeks now. Just needed a few stress free days in bed.
Still not feeling great, but better than I was.

That sounds pretty annoying @Jeds55. My DP is not a big drinker anyway, but he is having a sober Christmas and New Year this year, as he says he wants to support me. Bless his heart!!

MrsDneedsaB · 18/12/2017 12:54

Aww @MissYeti such a sweet scan pic!

Sad to hear lots of people are feeling unwell. My cough still hasn't completely cleared up but I have a feeling it's just going to stick around forever due to being extra phlegmy (nice!)

I saw the consultant on Friday, he was happy that I haven't put on any weight but did say that due to my BMI they can't trust fundal measurements so will need growth scans at 28/32/36 weeks - not that I'm unhappy with this! Means I get to see little man some more. It will mean I'll have had 9 scans throughout my entire pregnancy. Mental!

Has anyone else got the urge to start nesting yet? We cleaned the entire downstairs this weekend and I feel fabulous for it. Now I want to tackle the room that will become the nursery - easier said than done when it's currently DHs hobby room 😑

MissYeti · 18/12/2017 13:15

@mrsDneedsaB we've painted the nursery, just need to sort out getting furniture now :D it's great fun doing stuff for baby! I'm gonna be a terrible nester I can tell!

Teddy measured on the 17th centile for head circumference, every other measurement is between 37-42% Which seems more normal so I'm sort of worried he's going to have a small head!! Also he's currently presenting breech, how long does he have to make it into the head down position and stay there??

MrsDneedsaB · 18/12/2017 14:06

A long time yet MissYeti some babies can be in the breech position until a few days before labour. My little man moves around so much sometimes he's kicking my bladder area and then sometimes he's kicking my upper abdomen. They've still got plenty of time to get a lot bigger!

Is Teddy what you're planning on calling him or just a nickname? My friends have a 10 month old called Teddy and it's just an adorable name 😍

MissYeti · 18/12/2017 14:28

Oh okay that's good! I'd rather no have a baby feet first! We've settled on Theodore, OH likes Theo as a nickname but I think Teddy is just adorable ❤

LivLemler · 18/12/2017 21:02

My baby was on the 85th percentile for head circumference, 17th sounds good to me Grin

We're hoping to get the room painted and furniture assembled over Christmas - no idea what colour we want though.

MissYeti · 18/12/2017 21:15

I wanted purple cuz it's relaxing but ive done teddys well with a mountain mural, gonna get hot air balloons on the ceiling when I get my next student loan payment!
