@missyeti I love it! I'm planning on a mountain mural too!

FourForYouGlenCoco · 18/12/2017 22:37

Ahh MissYeti love your mountains, lovely and relaxing! (That sounds so dodgy but you know what I mean Grin) Teddy is a super cute nickname. DD was Pip all the way through my pregnancy, thought it would stick after birth but once she was born she ended up being called Squish for so long I thought she might start answering to it. And don’t worry about the breech thing, they have ages and ages to turn and loads of space still. They won’t worry til you’re 36+ weeks.
This baby has an absolutely minuscule head - all other measurements (brain stuff, tummy, legs etc) all around the middle-ish of the ‘normal’ spectrum - head circumference is practically off the bottom of the scale! Fine by me, I’ve been telling everyone this baby is just going to fall out 😂 but seriously, angles of measurement etc make a big difference. The sonographer would have flagged it if it was a problem.

MrsD well done on the weight thing, and hurray for extra peeks at baby! Sorry you’re still coughing, hope it clears up soon - sooooo much going round, it’s really not the time to have suppressed immune systems. DD’s school sounds like a plague house, they’re all coughing and spluttering all over the place, yuk.
Absolutely no nesting going on here - we moved last May and the house is so so much better than it was, but not all the way there yet. But tbh I’d rather sit down with a cuppa for half an hour if I get the chance than run about sorting stuff out! Plus this is DC3 so nothing much to sort. When we moved here though I was 7mo pg with DS and did loads of cleaning, painting, sorting out - so maybe nesting instinct will kick in at some point! Need to find some energy first - so incredibly tired ALL the time. School hols start on Thursday and I cannot bloody wait, we’re all in need of a proper rest!

boatrace30 · 19/12/2017 07:21

Yes @MissYeti , others are right. DD was breech. They didn't even bring it up till my 32 week check. Until then they can move so much. He may well have been head down or transverse by the time you got in the car!
I was then scanned at 36weeks to confirm then after a failed ecv chose an elective section and they even scanned then to double check baby was still breech (she was!) but she definitely wasn't breech at 20weeks!

Last week at my 24week check Midwife said baby was transverse but I know that will/has changed already!

As for nursery's we are booting dd into her new room next week (it's her Christmas present!) so the money and effort has gone into that! Baby will have her nursery. We've got a tree mural with birds and a general forest theme.

Sam91TRS15 · 19/12/2017 10:24

I love the mural miss yeti, did you paint that or is it paper? I was nesting loads at like 12 weeks, but I've been so stressed with writing up the house is a total bombsite right now - took me forever just to find my keys this morning! We painted the nursery a few months ago, then we had a leak in the roof so have to paint a little of the wall again! We have dark navy on all walls except one and have stag paper for the cot wall to go up. I'm starting to struggle with tiredness now, apparently that's normal heading into the head trimester (a week tomorrow!). Mrs d well done with the weight, I have put on SOO much, but with a deadline approaching, working from home, being pregnant and Christmas coming up what chance did I have?? I will just need to burn it off once he gets here!

ClaireBear1986 · 19/12/2017 11:04

I have been really struggling with tiredness over these last few weeks, so good to know that it is normal.

I have found the 2nd trimester worse than the 1st in terms of feeling tired, emotional and just run down.

God knows what the 3rd trimester will bring!! Ha ha.
Will all be worth it when I am cuddling little man in April though :)

LivLemler · 19/12/2017 11:09

I'm the same Claire, I was really struggling last week. Bit better this week after a relaxing weekend. Also starting to get quite sore, hadn't expected that so soon. Then I slipped and fell on ice - didn't hurt myself, and bump didn't hit the deck, but it still gave me a fright. Will you get long off over Christmas? I finish up on Thurs until the 3rd so I'm living for that, and in complete denial about how busy I'll be after Christmas.

Love the mural!

harrietm87 · 19/12/2017 11:26

Oh wow love the mural, and so jealous of you all with your nurseries. Our house is still pretty much a building site - might have a kitchen before xmas but the rest is still chaos!

On plus side I've finally started to think about baby stuff and think I've decided on the bugaboo bee for a pram as I want something small and city friendly but didn't like that the babyzen Yoyo wasn't parent facing after they move out of the bassinet. Does anyone else have any tips or recommendations pram-wise? Will hopefully buy it in Jan if there are
good sales.

ClaireBear1986 · 19/12/2017 11:28

Oh no @LivLemler, glad you are ok after your slip. I was petrified about slipping on ice last week, so had my poor DP driving me everywhere. Ha.
At least you have a nice long Xmas break, I am very jealous of that!!
I only get Xmas and Boxing Day off, but I have 5 days off in Jan as we are going away for a mini break before little man arrives. So counting down the seconds till then. Ha.

I have quite an awful commute each day, so I think that adds to the tiredness as I seem to be ok at the weekend, but really struggling during the week.

I'm having some more blood tests done as well though, just to check my iron levels again.
I used to suffer with anaemia, and when I had my blood results back at 16 weeks, my iron levels had actually shot up. I was really surprised.

LivLemler · 19/12/2017 11:45

Ha Claire, I was the same - refused to go anywhere for the few days it was bad here. Luckily I can work from home! The day I slipped all the ice was long gone, or so I thought - just one random patch at the end of a driveway.

You poor thing with your commute, no wonder you're exhausted. Would you be able to work from home at all after Christmas? Not to be negative, but it's only going to get worse. Or change your hours to avoid rush hour?

Harriet - we're getting the Uppababy Vista as we're not in the city so size not particularly important. We also loved the Cruz, which I think is Uppababy's answer to the Bee. One thing we liked is that the pram bit is suitable for occasional overnight sleeping so it'll save us getting a moses basket for downstairs in the house and no need to bring anything extra when we travel. The Bee does get great reviews though, and it's very much a case of what works for you in your own circumstances!

We're going to order the pram on Friday I think, the shop does pricematching so can just give them a shout for Jan sale price when it comes online.

How are you coping with the building work? We did similar a few years ago, wouldn't have been fun pregnant! Will you be done by the time the baby arrives?

ClaireBear1986 · 19/12/2017 12:08

We had ice really badly all last week, so I wasn't risking it. A colleague of mine slipped on some ice a few years ago and broke her back.

Just hoping for no more snow now, as ice when pregnant (and clumsy) is not fun!!

Sadly I am unable to work from home, and work are not being very flexible with my times either.

My commute is 90 mins each way on a tube and due to rush hour, it is very busy. People see my badge, and still happily shove me as hard as they can.

My Midwife has said that she will write a letter recommending that I leave a little earlier to avoid the rush, but I don't think my company will care.
If it gets too much, especially if my bump suddenly gets big, I will just have to go on maternity leave a lot earlier than planned.

I can't wait to get the pram. We have gone for the Silver Cross Chelsea Wayfarer. Going to buy it all 1st week of Jan.

harrietm87 · 19/12/2017 12:12

livlemler that's a good idea re using the pram as somewhere to sleep. I think I might get the sleepyhead and use that downstairs - had some friends who did that and it worked well. They also used it on the bed between them when they travelled, though I know some would worry about doing that.

I'm coping fine with the building work surprisingly! Have been living in dust for a couple of months now and every room is bare floorboards and full of unpacked boxes. We've only had a toaster and microwave since start of October! There's a lot left to do but hoping it will be done by Feb and decorating finished in March. The baby had better not come early!!!

FairfaxAikman · 19/12/2017 12:19

We are looking at the Uppababy Vista too - again for overnight sleeping.

Think we are going to go second hand though - not through necessity but because there are so many for sale round here which have hardly been used and it seems mad to spend 5x the money. (New mattress though)

olicat · 19/12/2017 12:34

Looks like a lot of us are planning to take advantage of (hopefully) lots of January sales for their buggies - me too! Bugaboo does look good but think it's a bit more expensive than a babyzen and we have zero space so need one that folds up super small. Think I'll get a nice carrier/sling that I can use post 6 months if I want them to be close to me.

Yeti you've done such lovely work on your nursery! For us it'll be a cot in the corner job until we move somewhere bigger, but our bedroom has quite a bit of space so not too cramped.

MrsDneedsaB · 19/12/2017 12:37

@harrietm87 my sister had the bugaboo bee and it was a great pram, the only annoying thing we found (I went out with her almost every day so I used it as much as she did) when folding it with the seat unit the seat unit would sometimes pop out...not sure if they've fixed that with the latest version.

Also the babyzen yo-yo she had and I'm inheriting for when we need that smaller stroller - it's amazing! Folds up so tiny you can put it in the rear footwell and so easy to fold/unfold. If you can afford that for your later stroller I would definitely go for that one or the Ickle Bubba Aurora which looks incredibly similar for a lot less £££.

We've got the Mamas and Papas Flip XT2 and that was because it's a really compact fold which incorporates the seat unit so you don't have to take it out - I know I harp on about the seat unit but when you're doing it every day it actually really becomes an annoying 2 step process lol

olicat · 19/12/2017 12:38

Claire after 5 days of being dead to the world I'm now well enough to work from home - manager has been really sound and said I can do so til Xmas hols which is very much appreciated - I know I'm lucky in that regard as I know in my previous company they'd have practically sacked me by now! I found it completely shocking how long it has dragged on for while preg - a combo of a suppressed immune system and not being allowed my beloved lemsip and beechams all in one! Hope none of you come down with anything but if you do I can recommend regular gargling with warm salty water as that was the only thing that really seemed to make a breakthrough.

olicat · 19/12/2017 12:40

Btw have realised I said we have zero space and also quite a bit of space 😂 to clarify, we have a one bed flat and while it is spacious for what it is, we defo don't have acres of room!

harrietm87 · 19/12/2017 13:18

Yes olicat I think it's about £100 more than babyzen once you factor in all the extras on both. Can't believe the price of them! I've been wavering so much between the two as everyone I know has the babyzen. It's smaller and lighter for sure.

mrsd why did your sister have both the bee and the Yoyo? I thought they were alternatives. I'm also starting to realise that most people seem to buy multiple prams whereas I was hoping one could do everything!

boatrace30 · 19/12/2017 14:05

My friend has the uppababy vista and I love it! If I could justify buying another one I would as I hate the one we had for DD

MrsDneedsaB · 19/12/2017 14:23

@harrietm87 I think you mean the YoYo plus which is from birth...she had the first generation of just the YoYo which is suitable from 6 months. She got the YoYo once her DS was 8 months or so and she no longer needed a pushchair that could take a car seat. She also had a car with a tiny boot and the bee just took up too much space (considering how compact that also is you can imagine how small the boot was lol!)

ClaireBear1986 · 19/12/2017 14:23

Thanks for the tip @Olicat, I will try the salty water as I have been feeling rough for 2 weeks now, with no sign of this bug shifting :(
That's good that you have an understanding Manager!! Sadly my Manger is a complete cow, and I have heard from other colleagues that she is known to do her best to make pregnancy as awkward as possible for all expectant Mums. So at least I know it's not personal, and she just hates all pregnant women. Ha ha.

MissYeti · 19/12/2017 16:59

Thank you all for the reassurance about teddys breech-mess, hopefully he gets his act together soon!

@fourforyouglencoco 😂😂 I'm glad you like my mountains! I'm glad my baby's not the only one with a small head!

@boatrace30 I'm glad they check multiple times If they're still breech, of have a c-section if it was safest for baby but if it turned out to be unnecessary I think I'd be a bit pissed...

@Sam91TRS15 it's hand painted, I take great pride in the fact that I've done it myself!

@ClaireBear1986 feeling you on the tiredness! I've literally just woken up from a nap 😊 we're getting the Silvercross Chelsea too!! I'm very excited for it!

MissYeti · 19/12/2017 17:01

I also need to spell check before I send cuz my phone randomly likes to change words without me realising...

Aspenn17 · 20/12/2017 08:29

MissYeti the mountains look lovely! Clairbear hope you feel better soon.

Our tiny 1 bed flat is on the market so the few things I am buying are living at my parents and in laws currently. We've found a house we love but just need someone to buy ours, fingers crossed for Jan. I'm doing a lot of 'virtual' nesting (online research and then making lists of what I want to buy in a few months when we have a proper house!!!) 😂

We are going to a big retail park Mothercare tomorrow to pick out a pram and car seat then we will order online in Jan sales, really excited!! Think we are going to get the Oyster2. Also thinking about the Snuzpod, anyone have opinions on it?

harrietm87 · 20/12/2017 08:47

@Aspenn17 I think I'd like a bedside cot but can't decide between snuzpod and chicco next to me - think chicco is maybe slightly bigger? What's pushing you towards snuzpod?

LivLemler · 20/12/2017 11:03

Best of luck with the house sale Aspenn. Hope you find a buyer quickly in the new year.

Just had my 25 week check. GP commented that baby was big, my uterus felt more like 30 weeks and asked (not jokingly) if I was sure there was only one in there.

I really don't want to know what I'm going to look like by 40 weeks...
