Contractions started at 5am, I got up and had a shower - had to wash my hair and do my eyebrows!!

I did one load of washing and hung it out.. changed 2 lots of bedding. Got the other two ready for school and MIL took them.

We got to hospital around 9:30. Had checks and examinations - I was nearly 4cm.

Midwife said because of my previous labour and this being third baby, she could break my waters once their theatre was clear.

But they broke on their own at 12:05.
Finally had some pain relief - gas n air.
I hadn't even had paracetamol by this point.

Baby Felix arrived at 12:32! 8lb11 Smile

Tiny tear but doesn't need stitches.
I bled A LOT so I've had 4 injections in my legs, 6 attempts at a cannula but eventually got in. So been on a drip for 4 hours. Had 5 tablets up my bum too haha!

But I didn't need to be induced! Woo!

Yay congrats @pinkflamingo121318!!! When was your due date again?

I'm 40+9 today and feeling really down - just want my baby to come!

olicat · 17/04/2018 20:25

Congratulations @Pink! So glad he's finally here.

@Harriet I'm feeling impatient at 39+3 so I appreciate the waiting must be rubbish 😔 I guess the positive thing is that it's only a matter of days before baby is out (whether natural or induced) but I know that doesn't feel like much comfort at this stage!

Sam91TRS15 · 17/04/2018 20:47

Congrats pink! Felix is beautiful and such a lovely name!

I was 40+8 when i was induced and I felt so depressed too, I was even considering not breastfeeding him because I was just so frustrated about being overdue. Luckily as soon as I went in for induction I felt so much more positive. It really sucks, but soon you will forget all about this sucky time and you will be wandering where the time went once baby gets here!
When do you get to be induced if baby doesn't come before then?

FairfaxAikman · 17/04/2018 20:48

Due date tomorrow. Trying various methods to get things going - I don't recommend Aubergine parmigiana Envy

harrietm87 · 17/04/2018 21:59

@Sam91TRS15 and @olicat they wanted to induce me tomorrow at 40+10 but I refused so am having another sweep. I've been reading loads about it and there is no medical need for me to be induced yet (esp as I think my dates are a bit wrong) so wanted to give my body more time to go naturally. I will revisit it tomorrow once I know what my bishop score is I think. It's hard as so much conflicting info out there!

Congrats again @pinkflamingo121318 !

olicat · 17/04/2018 23:04

I def feel the same - if there's no medical need and baby is moving well etc then I'd like to try to go naturally but not ruling anything out. Hope the sweep goes well tomorrow! Having lots of random cramps but so hard to tell what it means. I've never been so excited to get period pains!

pinkflamingo121318 · 17/04/2018 23:06

Even though he arrived 11 hours ago.. we're having to stay overnight because they haven't been able to do the newborn check.. my epilepsy means they need a paediatrician and they're all too busy tonight.

DH has gone home and I'm going to have a nibble of something before they wake me up in a couple of hours to try feed him again because he's still not interested in feeding and he's struggling to latch.

My due date was 7th April.

harrietm87 · 19/04/2018 14:25

Hope you got home @pinkflamingo121318!

So I'm 40+11 today on the hospital dates which they won't change (40+7/8 on mine). Had another failed
sweep yesterday - cervix completely unfavourable - so have reluctantly agreed to an induction tomorrow at 40+12. I've scared myself by reading about failed inductions with low bishop scores but just want my baby out now.

TrigsToo · 19/04/2018 17:30

Congratulations Pink and anyone else I've missed (notifications have been a bit funny).

I'm 39 weeks today, so still in the waiting period, but with things looking favourable. Still expecting to go over though. Blood pressure has decreased since stopping work, so very glad I did that now. Swelling in my hands and feet had gone down too, but now with the heat they've become massive again Sad Generally getting pretty good about things though. Hope everyone still waiting doesn't have much longer to wait!

pinkflamingo121318 · 20/04/2018 02:24

We were allowed to leave around 1ish on Wednesday.

Our other two children had no idea Felix had arrived, so it was lovely to see their reaction to me sitting on the sofa holding him! They absolutely adore him.

Our night in hospital was hideous. I had TWO hours sleep. He woke up at 3:30 and just wanted to feed constantly.
Which was fantastic because he was interested in feeding and working on his latch.

He's been great during the day, but night is a bit harder!

olicat · 20/04/2018 08:54

Glad you're home now @pink!

Will be thinking of you today @Harriet, hope it goes smoothly.

ALittleAubergine · 20/04/2018 09:09

Congrats to all of you who have had your little ones already!. And all the best for the rest of us who are still waiting. I'm currently 40+7 and nothing happening.

FairfaxAikman · 20/04/2018 10:26

Bollocks. 40+2 here and the washing machine has just gone kaput.

olicat · 21/04/2018 13:08

40 weeks today! Pelvic discomfort has ramped up this week so hoping baby decides to make an exit soon!

@Fairfax I hope you managed to get your washing machine fixed, what a pain.

Hope everyone else yet to have their baby is ok in the heat and not too frustrated.

FairfaxAikman · 21/04/2018 15:08

Nope. It's going to be a new one but will have to wait til DS is here as we can't book delivery in case we are in hospital

Aspenn17 · 22/04/2018 00:59

Hi all! Baby Emilia arrived on Wednesday morning :) 8lb 4

Had the pessary put in at midday but they said my cervix was already favourable, 9 hours later my waters went (it was just like in the movies, massive pop and it went everywhere!) my contractions got quite intense quite quickly and before I knew it I was 5cm dilated and off to the labour ward.

I did get a pool after all because everything happened on its own after the pessary. Started pushing in the pool but they made me get out and try on the bed as her head kept going back in. After 5 hours of pushing and only on gas and air, I had to have an episiotomy and 5 mins later she arrived.

I had a few problems afterwards, I lost a lot of blood, needed internal and external stitches and needed antibiotics but we got home yday which we were very happy about! She was so worth all of it! Good luck to everyone else still waiting

Congratulations @Aspenn17
She's beautiful!!

Internal and external?! Wow hope you're not too sore with those!!

I'm quite surprised they let you go 5 hours of pushing before intervening.. is that normal?

Felix is nearly 5 days old now and I can already see changes. Which is making me super sad.. I don't want him getting bigger! He's my last baby and I want him to stay that way!
He has been awake for the last hour.. 3 poos, lots of feeding and he's now giving lots of windy smiles. I can't wait until he is actually smiling though, so I'll pretend the wind is for now!!

My DD is absolutely besotted with him. She's 4 and had a lovely cuddle in my bed with him last night. It was a proper cuddle, she loves him so much. She went out with MIL for a bit and when she came back, she ran straight to the basket asking if he was awake yet.
DS is 6 and he flits between being interested and not! He's lovely when he is interested though!

whattookyousolong · 22/04/2018 04:46

Im being induced today! Wish me luck guys... Confused I'm terrified!

fia101 · 22/04/2018 05:15

Good luck! It'll be quick and painless ( mind over matter!!!)

duckii · 22/04/2018 05:24

Good luck! Smile

Aspenn17 · 22/04/2018 06:56

Good luck @whattookyousolong, just think about how close you are to meeting your beautiful baby!

Thank you @pink! Felix is gorgeous! I am pretty sore but it’s crazy how much better I feel already even though it was only 4 days ago. The human body is very impressive! I’ve bought one of those rubber ring things to sit on which helps a bit!

A few people have said that to me about them not intervening sooner but I think I was just so close and I kept insisting I wasn’t tired (I think because I was scared they would try and move me) They were monitoring her heartbeat every 5 mins though and she wasn’t distressed at all so they let me keep going.

Emilia at the mo is very nocturnal! So good during the day but doesn’t sleep at all during the night unless she is on my chest meaning I have to stay awake. Made a 4am online Sleepyhead purchase to see if that helps the clingyness...

olicat · 22/04/2018 07:47

Congratulations @Aspen! Impressed you managed to avoid the drip, you must have been ready!

Good luck @whattook 😊

Sam91TRS15 · 22/04/2018 07:48

Aspen, she is beautiful! Congrats!!

5 hours is crazy! I was only pushing for 30 mins and they were telling me I had to get him out, I didn't realise you could push for so long! Although he was having decelerations which I think is why they wouldn't let me go much longer!

I am so impressed you managed to push for so long!!

Sam91TRS15 · 22/04/2018 07:50

And sorry I should have said, good luck whattookyou!
