Babydreaming congratulations!

I only did my test yesterday and DH is really sick these last two days and feeling miserable I haven't told him yet, I want to tell him when he's a bit happier. With DC1 he was abroad when I found out so I had to keep it quiet for a week until he got home!

The same as you we had planned to start TTC in a couple more months, were only careless once! It took us a year to conceive DC1 so this was a surprise. But I am delighted and know he will be too.

We have so much going on next year including potentially moving countries, but I wouldn't want to change this. Smile

Babydreaming · 05/12/2017 09:53

@smashycup my husband has been abroad too! Just got back this morning and gone straight from airport to work.

I’m thinking I’ll do a CB weeks indicator on Thurs and if it’s 2-3 weeks then I’ll tell him then! With one of my chemicals the indicator never shifted post 1-2 weeks so that would give me a bit more confidence!

How old is your little one? I’m panicking about having 2 under 2!! Eeeek

SmashyCup · 05/12/2017 10:01

I hope your test comes out ok. My DC is 9 months old. It will definitely be hard work but I think it'll be great for them to be close in age so they can play together. We'd always hoped for a small gap, just not quite this small!

babyH3O · 05/12/2017 10:13

We have an 18mth age gap in our two children and it's lovely, they're very close. It's definitely challenging at first but also good to get all of the teething/nappies/sleepless nights out of the way in one fell swoop. Makes me wonder what on earth I'm doing having another. Wink I'm hoping they will be good helpers!

SmashyCup · 05/12/2017 10:16

That's great to know @babyH3O ! Although helpers would also be nice. So excited, I really can't get my head around this yet. I keep thinking I'm going to wake up. Grin

Brettgirl · 05/12/2017 15:38

Hi all, I'm so excited, I've had my call from the midwife, I've got my appointment next week. Bit of a panic because I've had a gastric bypass and apparently need to have 5mg of folic acid as a matter of urgency! How is everyone today? Xx

Babydreaming · 05/12/2017 16:15

Brettgirl definitely get on the 5mg folic acid! Was the midwife for a booking appointment?

I am moving house to a different area in early Jan so probably won’t register with GP til mid Jan when I’ll be around 9 weeks...it’s a bit late to announce the pregnancy but I don’t see any point in contacting my GP who is here as I’ll need referring to midwives/Hospital in new area.

On my 1st pregnancy the GP just gave me some leaflets on healthy eating and referred me to midwives so I don’t really see any need to announce it yet? I’m worried my 1st scan will be late though 😞 I can’t register tho til we’ve moved house

Peoniesandcats · 05/12/2017 17:22

I called my surgery and asked if I needed to see the doc or if I could just self refer to a midwife. They said to see the doctor so I've booked in for 12th Dec. Not sure what to expect!

mummadave · 05/12/2017 20:44

@ThatHippyDippyShit haha I've had the same thought about twins!! That would just be chaos!! Also a bit worried bc my ds was born at 35 weeks by emergency section so no idea how long this pregnancy will be!!

Hope everyone is doing well!

StrawberryLemonade · 05/12/2017 23:32

peonies I doubt the gp will do much other than refer you to midwife! We can book straight with midwife which is better. I'd left my details last week for her to ring me but I haven't heard anything yet.

Anyone else still obsessively checking pregnancy tests? I got 2-3 on cb digi this morning compared to 1-2 last Thursday. I was hopeful for a 3+ but probably didn't wait long enough.

I'm so tired I'm only awake as DH woke me from sleep on the sofa to come to bed. Literally work all day, get toddler to bed, eat then sleep at the moment. No idea when any Christmas presents are going to get wrapped...

Subo2018 · 06/12/2017 05:52

@StrawberryLemonade I am checking all the time. My other half told me to calm down haha. Mine says 2-3 in a cb test so I'm hoping in a few time I'll see 3+. I keep waiting up at bout 3.30am and struggling to go back to sleep. Told the parents last night though as it was making me worry with what there response would be but luckily they are super happy and hoping everything goes smoothly for us.

Sparklesdontshine · 06/12/2017 05:59

Does anyone have any symptoms yet? I'm only 4.3 weeks but already have nausea! Seems very early! I haven't dared do a clear blue yet, I'm waiting till sunday

StrawberryLemonade · 06/12/2017 06:22

Subo glad it's not just me Blush I may have ordered another cb digi to do in a few days in the hope I get 3+!

sparkles I'm 5w today from LMP and symptoms so far have been sore boobs that I'm sure have grown! Tiredness and slight change in taste - for eg I usually love a cup of tea and now didn't even bother making one at work yesterday cos I didn't fancy it. I'm dreading the nausea kicking in. Really wouldn't worry if you don't have symptoms yet though it's still early!

I've told my mum so far and one of my friends. I think a lot of people will guess over Christmas. I'm not going to tell others at the moment but if they guess/ask I won't lie. That's the approach I took last time. Mainly dreading telling work though - only started the job quite recently Blush

mummadave · 06/12/2017 07:54

@StrawberryLemonade I've done about 20 tests since my first positive one, partly because it was such a shock I had to keep checking!!! I'm still in shock a bit but sure it'll all seem more real after mw appt next Friday!

spydie · 06/12/2017 07:59

Anyone else peeing like crazy!? I'm 5 weeks tomo and already up twice in the night for Niagra falls Confused I don't remember peeing so much, so early the last time!! I also cannot stand the smell of our microwave. I've never noticed it smelling before Hmm

@StrawberryLemonade I'm sure your work will be fine. I got back from mat leave in Feb, had a promotion and finally got the associated pay rise in October so I'm a bit worried about telling mine too....going to try and keep it under wraps as long as possible though.

Babydreaming · 06/12/2017 08:00

I’m still taking tests each morning! I find it reassuring...not sure when to stop! I’m only 4 weeks. I’m taking CB tomorrow and am hoping for 2-3 weeks and then one next Friday and hoping for 3+ weeks then! I got so stressed last time about the weeks indicator though as it wasn’t going to 3+ weeks. Try not to worry if you’re in that situation as seems quite common.

I still haven’t told anyone including my husband!! Will break the news tomorrow but not sure when as we are getting up early and driving to my mums 1st thing! Maybe in the car?! Don’t want him to crash though haha! I have a feeling I might wimp out and then not tell him til after the weekend is over as it’s my 1st boys birthday and I don’t want to ruin it!

I might get an early scan on the Friday before and if there a heartbeat tell my mum (as it’ll be weird I’m not drinking over Xmas!) but if no HB yet I’ll hold off just in case!

Babydreaming · 06/12/2017 08:01

SORRy I meant Friday before Xmas

LucyDolly · 06/12/2017 08:26

Morning all!

The “morning sickness” is slowly creeping in for me I think! I thought I was going to get away with it but last two mornings about 5 minutes after I stand up out of bed I start gagging at anything! Then it eases off again? I’m thinking it could be because my tummy is empty? Or blood sugar? Anyway it’s not nice and I’m dreading it getting worse!

I haven’t done any tests since CB said 3+. Got booking appt on Friday when I should be 7 weeks exactly. Do they do a test or just take your word for it? I know there won’t be a scan?

Saturday I have a best friends 30th - cocktail afternoon tea. I am 70% sure I will tell them just because I have no energy to lie about being sick or being on meds! And I kinds of want to tell someone. Problem is as already mentioned my best best friend has been trying for 2.5 years one failed ivf. So I know it’s not gonna be easy ...just don’t know! Then I had my dreaded overnight works do which is very alcohol based! - help! X

LucyDolly · 06/12/2017 08:26

@babydreaming we are having our private scan the Saturday before Xmas! Exciting !!!!

Babydreaming · 06/12/2017 08:34

@lucydolly no they don’t do a pregnancy test! They take a urine sample but that’s to check for urine infection. When it was my 1st pregnancy test I took a positive pregnancy test with me and they laughed! Booking appointment is just a list of questions they have to ask. It’s to decide if you’re high or low risk and if you need anything.
I’m jealous you got private scan for 23rd!! I might try and do same

YouCantBeSirius · 06/12/2017 09:02

Morning sickness has truly set in here. I've thrown up multiple times in the past couple of days.

RiverRose · 06/12/2017 09:04

We had an IVF cycle for this pregnancy so they will likely do a scan before christmas to check for heartbeat and also numbers! We had two embryos put back in but highly likely there is just the one baby on board.

Might book a private scan for between christmas and new year whilst i am off work and about 7-8 weeks.

Such an exciting and yet scary time!

Sparklesdontshine · 06/12/2017 09:12

What's the earliest you can have a private scan?

I'm worried about telling work too, I have had 2 babies in the last 4 years, and they are always saying no more!! 🤣

RiverRose · 06/12/2017 09:22

Our local scanning clinic offers scans at 7 weeks Sparkle. [Smile]

Work knows i have had ivf so they will all just be relieved i think lol

Brettgirl · 06/12/2017 11:21

@sparkledontshine we have booked one for 7 and a half weeks, we were booking for a bit later but the clinic don't like to do it too close to Christmas in case of bad news, which is thoughtful xx
