@brettgirl I will be honest I’m a bit worried if it’s bad news then it will ruin my Xmas but if it’s good (which I’m thinking it will be- positive vibes!) then it will be FAB

Most places start at 6 weeks x

Subo2018 · 06/12/2017 14:10

I can't work out if I'm starting to feel sick or if I am just over hungry. It started yesterday but I put it down to nerves of telling the parents. Is it too early at 5w+6d to feel sick?

babyH3O · 06/12/2017 14:24

LucyDolly - I remember from previous pregnancies some good advice is to keep plain biscuits by your bed and eat one before you get up in the morning.

Also for others struggling with nausea, try to eat little and often. Keep some snacks in your handbag.

SmashyCup · 06/12/2017 14:58

Ginger (tea, buscuits, crystallised etc) can also help the nausea. Although I'm not sure I can stomach the taste again, I got so sick of it during my last pregnancy!

Sparklesdontshine · 06/12/2017 15:04

Does anyone else get tummy pains/cramps that are different from period pains? I don't remember them from previous pregnancies, and I'm getting paranoid!

LucyDolly · 06/12/2017 15:17

@Sparklesdontshine yup I had cramps for week 4.5-6
Apparently its things stretching

Babydreaming · 06/12/2017 16:38

Sparkles weird cramps in pregnancy are totally normal! Unless you get bleeding try not to stress!

Thanks for all the nausea tips :) In my last pregnancy I ended up putting on half a stone in my 1st trimester...eating was the only thing that made my nausea stop!!

Has anyone else got an increased appetite. I had to buy an emergency snack this morning before lunch because I was ravenous and couldn’t last! I know the advice is that you shouldn’t increase calories in 1st trimester but I definitely have!!

spydie · 06/12/2017 16:41

@babydreaming yes me! Ravenous!! Not snacking so much but when it's meal times eating more than normal. And needing breakfast, I've survived to age 33 on a cup of tea as my breakfast but not now!!

StrawberryLemonade · 06/12/2017 19:48

My appetite has gone funny too. I'll be hungry but then not fancy what i initially thought I wanted. It's driving DH mad! Mainly wanting plain salty things! Have had a couple of waves of nausea but nothing major yet.

CaffeineDragon · 06/12/2017 19:56

@Subo2018 you def can at this stage. I have bouts throughout the day and did last time but was never actually ill.

This one def feels different in my stomach than last time. Not sure what's going on or if it's just everything has moved around so much.

I'm just SO tired!

I'd probably like to tell more people but I know my work are going to hold it against me so I'm waiting until after the 12 week scan. I'll want to publicly announce it then so I'll have to (I'm too impatient!)

Thinking about it I don't think I'll do an 7/8 wk private scan but I think we'll do a 16wk one again to find out the sex.

CaffeineDragon · 06/12/2017 19:58

@Babydreaming @StrawberryLemonade May be a stupid question - why do you want the test to read 3+? Just to show it's advancing?

StrawberryLemonade · 06/12/2017 20:18

Yeh basically @caffeinedragon. I know it's ridiculous really but seems reassuring to know that hcg level is rising!

CaffeineDragon · 06/12/2017 22:33

@StrawberryLemonade totally get that! Did my 5th test today and the line was much, much darker and basically instant! Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something!

SmashyCup · 06/12/2017 23:39

Is anybody planning on doing the Harmony test? I didn't last time but am tempted to this time just to reduce anxiety! It often comes in a package with a late scan too which would be good as the NHS offer nothing after 20 weeks.

Plus it means you can find out the sex for sure early on. We waited for a surprise with DC1 but with this one I'm already dying to know. Not sure if I'll get DH on board with that though. I guess I'll have to tell him about the baby before I can find out his views. Grin

Babydreaming · 07/12/2017 04:29

@caffeinedragon yes it’s a good indication that your hormone levels are rising! I wouldn’t recommend it though as it can make you really stressed if you’re still getting 2-3 weeks when should be 3+. It is most likely that everything is fine but it has a cut off for 3+ that you haven’t reached yet.

Unfortunately my last pregnancy never went to 3+. I got so stressed everyday when it was stuck on 2-3. Unfortunately that pregnancy did stop at 6.5 weeks but the stress I caused myself with those tests wasn’t worth it!

@smashycup I think they offer you the harmony test on NHS if your risk is high so I’ll probably only get it if that’s the case...it’s really expensive!

Babydreaming · 07/12/2017 04:30

I Keep waking up at this time feeling really awake and not being able to get back to sleep...no doubt later I’ll be exhausted! Pregnancy insomnia is horrible!!

Babydreaming · 07/12/2017 05:06

I just did the CB and I got 2-3 weeks! I’m just over 4 so that’s where it should be :) was super nervous waiting for it to come up! I’ll hold off til next Friday to do the next one when I hope it’s got to 3+!

Telling my husband this morning eeeeeeeeek! This is becoming real.

Sparklesdontshine · 07/12/2017 06:11

@babydreaming that’s fab! Good luck telling your husband!

SmashyCup · 07/12/2017 06:34

@Babydreaming it is really expensive! Shock I didn't realise the NHS offered it now, I thought that was only a pilot in some areas.

Good luck with telling your husband! I am sure he'll be over the moon.

I am actually contemplating waiting until Christmas to tell mine, but will probably cave in this weekend.

Subo2018 · 07/12/2017 06:47

@Babydreaming I get the same thing, wake up about 3.30 and am wide awake!
Has anyone had a stuffy nose since they became pregnant? I'm not talk about a winter cold. This feels more like when you have allergies.
Good luck telling your partner Smileit's an exciting time.

Breakfastchamp · 07/12/2017 08:08

First timer here! I'll have lots of questions for you all, providing all goes smoothly Smile

YouCantBeSirius · 07/12/2017 08:51

Sorry for TMI but has anyone else had diarrhea? I've been suffering from it for a few days now, not sure if it's a bug I've picked up or if it's pregnancy related. Also, turns out that I'm actually due on the 2/8/18 so I'm officially 6 weeks today.

SpriteGirl · 07/12/2017 09:40

Hello all,

First time on mumsnet and first pregnancy so I'd like to join please Smile

Had my BFP on the 1st December so this is an advent baby at the moment Grin Only me and my husband know so far, planning on telling my parents and brother on my birthday 19th December and then Aunties/grandparents/mother in law over Christmas because we are staying with family for 4 nights in total (split between mine and his) and I can't see how I'll get away with not drinking and ultimately I think I'll be more relaxed if I'm not constantly trying to pretend.

Saw my doctor yesterday. I thought she might test to confirm the pregnancy but she seemed happy to take my word for it, said over the counter tests "are more accurate than anything we've got"!.

I've filled in the midwife form and been told I'll just be left on my own for a bit and to "incubate". So here I am as this seems the best place to be right now Smile

@YouCantBeSirius not had any diarrhea but I hear it can happen.

Congratulations to everyone.

Babydreaming · 07/12/2017 09:41

@youcantbesirius no I’m the opposite haha! I think constipation is more common at this stage...so maybe a bug? Anything is possible though!

I told my husband! He was happy which is a relief. He was a bit concerned about it being an August baby (we planned for sept onwards) and we have a holiday planned for late June and a wedding on my due date haha!! I think I would still go to the wedding if I haven’t given birth though, hopefully that’ll be the case!

YouCantBeSirius · 07/12/2017 10:28

I'm in Scotland so don't have the concerns about school starting age. The youngest kids starting school here will be 4 and a half so February birthday. All going well this baby would start school just after their 5th birthday.
