That sound incredibly unprofessional @E2017 - it is your choice when you tell them surely

milney25 · 28/12/2017 11:23

Thanks @Kiki275, I'll go back next week. I think I'm just worrying about telling people before 12 weeks.

@E2017 wow, that is so unprofessional and rude. Make sure you make a record of anything like that, just in case you need to go above and report it to a more senior manager at some stage.

E2017 · 28/12/2017 11:37

I've not told anyone at work at this point it's purely her/ other people adding two and two and coming to there own conclusions. Yes I am making a lot of loo trips but I've been very careful to try and hide the fact that a number of them throughout the day are because I'm being very sick. Weight, it's 'Christmas' plenty of people in the office have put on weight over the last few weeks, I've felt no reason to comment about them. I am bloated and have been all along this process so far however I do not feel that at just over 7 weeks I should have to consider telling them in the slightest. I will tell them when I am ready to tell them, regardless of what they think they've worked out. What if I wasn't actually pregnant and was just ill! Angry

BertieBotts · 28/12/2017 11:57

E2017, that's horrible! How rude of them. Unfortunately I've heard of this ignorant attitude before - no awareness, at all, of why somebody might want to hold off telling about their pregnancy.

Hortonlovesahoo · 28/12/2017 12:30

E2017- how utterly unprofessional! I’m shocked that they’d be so bitchy! Is that normal at your workplace?

Emmasmum2013 · 28/12/2017 13:09

@E2017
You should send an email to your manager saying "I know you know I'm pregnant. I haven't spoken to you about it yet because its none of your business yet. Stop talking about me behind my back, it will always get back to me if you do." That should shut her up. Some workplaces are rife with two faced bitchiness like this. I always just try to call people out on it. The only way they get away with it is if you keep quiet.

In other news... got my booking appointment tomorrow morning! I'm going to ask for a scan since I had that spotting (which has now stopped) and my pregnancy symptoms keep coming and going all the time.

RiverRose · 28/12/2017 13:24

7 weeks today and have had a scan this morning to check everything.

All went great, baby had a strong heartbeat and we have just the one on board! Felt a teensy bit sad for the other embryo we had transfered but tbh we knew both surviving wasn't likely.

Another scan on tues, this time by the IVF clinic, hoping to refer myself to ante natal after that all being well Smile

Emmasmum2013 · 28/12/2017 13:49

Congrats @RiverRose !!! That's excellent news! :)
Did they give you another EDD at all?

RiverRose · 28/12/2017 14:01

No same due date of 16th August Smile i think the scan suggested 6+5 but that is quite normal and they are sticking with EDD for now.

peterpanwendy · 28/12/2017 14:52

@milney25 my first time too! I have been making a list of symptoms way before I even got my BFP so will just show her that if she asks, i have all my dates on there etc. I am pretty textbook except for the nausea, i have had some but not everyday! Good luck at your appt x

somersetsinger · 28/12/2017 14:56

Congratulations RiverRose, tha

Babydreaming · 28/12/2017 14:56

@riverrose congratulations!! Must be lovely to see. Hope Tuesdays scan goes as well!

somersetsinger · 28/12/2017 15:00

Argh, pressed post too soon. Congratulations, RiverRose. The scan sounds reassuring.

I've just had my booking in appointment. It was pretty straightforward with lots of form filling. Everything seem more real now we've requested the 12 week scan and I've got my 16 week appointment.

Hortonlovesahoo · 28/12/2017 15:47

@riverrose : many congratulations!!! That’s great news!

TheMildManneredMilitant · 28/12/2017 16:36

Afternoon everyone. Congrats @riverrose it must be great to see that everything is happening as it should be. @E2017 poor you that sounds awful, are they always like that?

I had a private scan yesterday. I was so anxious beforehand I was convinced there would be nothing there but I wanted to find out now if there was a growth problem rather than in a few weeks time. I needn't have worried - one baby with heartbeat, and dated me at 9 weeks too so a few days on from what I thought. That gives me edd of 1st aug so I'm still allowed on this thread Smile

Hortonlovesahoo · 28/12/2017 16:57

@themildmanneredmilitant : excellent news! That’s fantastic!

Girls, anyone else have constipation? I’ve tried high fibre foods, prunes, prune juice and nothing :-( its starting to get a little uncomfortable

E2017 · 28/12/2017 18:29

Thank you for all your support and advice ladies. I was so angry and upset earlier I didn't dare say or do anything but will be dealing with it when I get back in on Monday.

@Hortonlovesahoo I've had some constipation, they said that if the natural remedies aren't working then I could have lactulose as that is safe in pregnancy. Apparently you can get that from doctors or pharmacy.

Really pleased for those who have had good scans the last few days.

I had my 7 week scan yesterday All was good then. Today I've had a little bit of brown spotting and a couple of clots. Spoke to the hospital for a bit of advice they've said if it gets worse at all then I've got to have another scan if it goes away then it's probably trauma to my cervix from the scan yesterday as they had to poke and prod around quite a lot due to my ovaries still being so large.

Worried now again. 🙁

Subo2018 · 28/12/2017 18:33

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've written on here. I'm 7/8 weeks pregnant (will find out for def at my nhs scan). I have constant nausea. I wear the sea sickness bands, eat ginger biscuits and drink ginger ale. I have completely lost my appetite and have heart burn most of the time and have had a dodgy belly a few times. Whilst I hate to complain as these are all really good signs I've now started to get headaches. Is anyone else feeling like this? What did you do? I am going to the shops everyday to buy dinner as I have to get whatever I fancy there and then otherwise I probably won't eat. However I feel like I'm gaining weight in my thighs and stomach...how is this happening when I'm not eating much Confused

peterpanwendy · 28/12/2017 18:58

@Subo2018 I can somewhat relate! I have been having bad headaches/dodgy tummy but not a lot of nausea. I am the same with my appetite don't know what I fancy at all and can't really eat a lot but my jeans are so tight!
You can get anti-nausea tablets that i have used before and are a life-saver! Maybe see your GP to recommend some? Hope it gets better for you Thanks

spydie · 28/12/2017 19:55

Hi ladies, hope you all had lovely Christmases. Sadly my DHs nan was given 72 hours on boxing day and passed away this morning so it's been a pretty odd week.

I had my booking appointment this morning at 8 weeks exactly. Really pleased I saw the nice midwife I remembered from with DD. I'm to be consultant led and also referred to the mental health midwife due to my first experience and subsequent anxiety. It's a big relief as I was desperately worried about today and having my concerns dismissed, even had a cry in the waiting room and then again during the appointment. I'm also going to get support from a breastfeeding specialist antenatallly to try and make sure things are better this time. So feeling a lot more positive.

On the constipation front, yes suffering here too and it's driving me bonkers!! I found lactulose good last time.

Gizzymum · 28/12/2017 20:04

@spydie Sorry to hear about your DH's nan. Thanks

BertieBotts · 28/12/2017 20:13

Ah, River, that's really lovely! Shame about embryo 2 but twins would have been a really high risk pregnancy, so perhaps better with one!

I'm getting headaches too but I think it's related to dehydration as I get dry mouth really quickly too, so keep trying to drink lots of water. Bitter lemon is good too, especially socially as it tastes a bit like gin and tonic with lime.

I have found that when we have sex I get a tiny bit of pink tinged CM but other than that have been totally clear so am hopeful for my appointment tomorrow but a bit nervous too! I have two different calculations for how far along I am but one of them is 5+4 which is the point I've always miscarried at before, I feel a bit weird about that, like I'm passing a distance marker. But the other calculation puts me at 5+1.

I did have a weird blob on loo roll this morning though which was a very solid bit of CM almost like part of the plug?? So weird. I will ask them about it tomorrow I suppose but I assume it's normal.

RiverRose · 28/12/2017 20:36

Thank you ladies!

Lovely to hear your updates and other scan news!

@BertieBotts yes we were a little sad but our aim was never for twins (We just didn't want to waste the 2nd embryo as it wasn't good enough to freeze) so we are happy and grateful for what we have Smile

I wonder if as we are now approaching scans and such if anyone would be interesting in a secret FB page (i.e it wouldn't show up on searches and nothing you post is visible to anyone not in the group)?

I was on one 7 years ago for my daughter and it's still going strong now! Found it super supportive and easier to catch up with than the forum.

BertieBotts · 28/12/2017 20:45

I would prefer if possible to stay on MN for now but def open to a FB group later on - when things are a bit more certain.

Kiki275 · 28/12/2017 21:04

I'd definitely be up for a private facebook group 😁.

@E2017 first thing you really need to speak to HR before anybody. That is completely unacceptable behaviour from a manager. Regardless or not what they think, they should not be publicly discussing personal and private details of any sort.

@hortonlovesahoo yes, no, maybe..... I think so but can't decide what is pregnancy related and what is generally shockingly bad xmas diet related (I'm putting it down to the latter). My mum used to love liquorice for that purpose, so crack open the allsorts and pontefract cakes or I think you can get herbal teas with it in x
