Bubbaloo, good luck and hope the baby comes soon.

Hi Octo, sorry nothing happening for you yet.

Feel a bit under the weather tonight - glands up under armpit last night and tonight, and feel as if coming down with summat.

A good nights sleep should sort it.

bumble75 · 12/04/2007 20:18

Evening all,

Hope everyone not feeling well is feeling better soon and all sending labour vibes to those whose want their babies out now!

MIAMT - am so annoyed for you about the blood, why do they blame veins and not their bad technique? One of the m/w who took my blood left me black and blue for a week afterwards, haven't had a mark on me from any of the others...

Have had a lovely day in sunny Edinburgh, dh & I did trial run to the hospital and I even faked some yelling & screaming to simulate real conditions (both just ended up laughing!) then went for an ice cream in the sunshine, came home and read my book.

Funny story - we have two teenage-ish boys living next door to us and they have a little sister of about 6. The boys regularly kick their footballs into our backyard and we throw them back over or they jump over and get them. Anyway, dh (in grumpy old man mood) has got a bit sick of this and stopped throwing them back and there have been two in our backyard since Saturday. To cut to the chase, this afternoon there was a tiny little knock on our front door - the two boys had sent their six year old little sister to ask for the footballs back!!! Must have figured the grumpy neighbours wouldn't say no to her!!

Hi All,
Congrats to Lesley and to Birdiebump (very encouraging to see a fellow 'old bird' getting the birth she wanted! ). Ooh, it's all getting exciting on here now.

After two shows, and a night spent with terribly 'period' pain, thought I'd wake up today with the start of something. But nada. I did wake up with the ump, but I don't think that counts

And where is my nesting instinct? Have the kitchen and bathroom still to clean, and the larder to sort out, plus a few fiddly jobs, but all I can be arsed to do is to suck chocolate biscuits.

DS regressed a lot; I have to go into him after he's gone to bed, and give him a big cuddle. Every night. But that's okay, now I've sussed what he wants (he isn't verbal enough to tell me), as he'd begun wailing for AGES and I'd just been handing him spare dummies etc. God knows what he'll be like once the baby is actually here, though

Vibes to all xx

liath · 12/04/2007 20:28

LOL at waking up with the ump! Does the ump vanish with the bump, that's the question?

Bumble - gorgeous day here wasn't it?

Tightening all day but coming to nowt again. Due day tomorrow but feel strangely reluctant to give birth on friday the 13th .

Fingers crossed for tomorrow eddas & no more being messed around.

liath · 12/04/2007 20:29

Ooh, that friday 13th remark looked totally tactless for eddas, sorry . What was i thinking sorry.

muminamassivetummy · 12/04/2007 20:32

Lucewheel - of course...sorry just seen your post - are you using the CAT thingy or do you need my address?
x

Eddas · 12/04/2007 20:35

hello liath

Don't worry i didn't read any offense. Feel quite the same about giving birth tomorrow. Will be calling the baby damien if it's a boy born tomorrow!!!

runnyhabbit · 12/04/2007 20:39

hi all

haven't had chance to catch up yet (been a bit preoccupied ) excuse my spelling etc, because i'm typing with one hand, and holding William in the other.

just after i posted here on tues night, i had a bath, and started getting very erractic contractions, anywhere between 5 and 20 mins apart. went to bed for a bit, til the pain actually woke me up at midnight. timed them for about half an hour, when they were v regular - 5mins apart. still hadn't had a show, neither had my waters gone. called the mw, and when she examined me at 1am, i was 4/5 cm dilated. she did a sweep, and then things really started to happen. nearly ran out of gas and air, because they had a faulty tank but the 2nd mw had bought spares, thank god! my waters only broke about 10 mins before the birth, and you would have thought there'd been a flood, there was so much

bang on 6am on weds morning, William was born and after lots of skin to skin contact, he latched on straight away. such a world away from Joshuas birth, so pleased i was able to do it at home this time.

Joshua slept all the way through, and only woke at 7.20am. as soon as he saw William, he gave the biggest smile and said "hiya" to him, and still can't stop smiling at him mind you, none of us can stop smiling atm

i've got to say, dh was brilliant. totally with me iykwim, esp when the gas and air was about to run out(and we both cried a little bit when William was born )

love to you all
xxx

liath · 12/04/2007 20:39

Phew, ! Tactless is my middle name!

Poor DH is watching the football and Spurs are losing, oh dear. He's not a happy bunny.

liath · 12/04/2007 20:41

Lovely story Runny, sounds fab. Congratulations!

Eddas · 12/04/2007 20:45

I'm not easily offended Good job or i'd have been in tears with all the thread titles!!! Was quite disappointed with the choice this time, original one had me in but the ladies thought better of it coz of my crap start to the day. Bless you all!!

Runny, lovely to hear from you and all the other mummy's too. It's great to hear so many positive birth stories but as with lots of the others am getting a bit worried that there's been too many short labours. It surely can't carry on and as i will be giving birth in the near future, i will i'm hoping not to be the one to turn the trend to long drawn out ones

Bugmum · 12/04/2007 20:45

liath - I blimming well hope the ump does vanish with the bump! Oh dear, I am NOT nice to be around at the moment. My mum rang to say should she pop down at the weekend (ie FOR the weekend) - wtf??? I know she was trying to help, but blimey. I said 'Oh God, no! What part of I don't want to see people don't you understand?'

runny - ooh, lovely story. Wishing you all four every happiness

Eddas · 12/04/2007 20:47

Bugmum, totoally with you on the not wanting to see people. Not all people for me just some and totally no strangers as the looks and comments are hacking me off!!

Eddas - I keep thinking that I'll buck the trend, too, and end up with another looooooooong labour culminating in a C-section like last time . But I'm sure you'll be fine - you deserve to be after all the waiting!

Bugmum · 12/04/2007 20:49

Eddas - I am so, so lucky that DP is around a lot during the day at the moment (just worked out that way, work-wise), so today I could get him to take DS to the park. I just couldn't face it. The other day I took him, saw a friend who immediately said, 'You got two of them in there now?' I could have hit her!

Eddas · 12/04/2007 20:52

hi lucewheel, how are you doing?

Bugmum, have felt like smacking a few people, have managed not to so far, but if the don't do something tomorrow i may burst and the mw i speak to will probably get an earful!!!! Will be on the phone though so she'll avoid the actual smack

Bugmum · 12/04/2007 20:54

Eddas - probably just as well: it is just sooo tacky to get an injunction and a birth cert in the same week

Lucewheel - we need one of our resident name experts to come up with one for us (preferably with maximum offensive potential)

Eddas · 12/04/2007 20:58

I reckon i'd fit in if i had to take my baby to court could be class itself

Glad you're feeling good tonight, lucewheel

When we got home from hospital this morning dh said i looked calmer than i have for ages even though i must be p*d off. Funny how things don't go to plan but I don't care. Was really stressed last night, so worried about it, think i was probably relieved it was going to happen. Didn't sleep much so was tired and not looking forward to a long labour. Caught up on sleep today though so should be ok for tomorrow, if i am allowed in

Eddas · 12/04/2007 21:00

LOL, at girl gang

Emmymummy · 12/04/2007 21:00

Runny - lovely to hear from you. So pleased it's all going well and very reassuring to hear such a positive home-birth story. A bit worrying about the gas & air nearly running out though (have 4 cannisters here, apparently they'll only last about 20mins each - eeek!). How lovely for Joshua to wake up and meet his baby brother.

Also not wanting to see people at the moment. Just feel like everyone is looking at me with great sympathy at the mo (oh poor cow, look at her big fat tummy, waddling arse and puffed up ankles). Feeling veeery attractive, I can tell you!

Still feeling very weird tonight, kind of on edge. I guess reality is starting to hit home, and the weather is reminding me of how it was when I had Em. All very strange.

Am supposed to be seeing a very good friend & her kids tomorrow, but I really feel like being alone. Em is booked into a school-holiday club which I have already paid for, but I don't want to upset my friend by changing our plans. I just really want to make the most of my final few days of being able to do what I want (i.e. lounge around reading or sleeping). Bugger.
