I'm 10 weeks now and we still haven't told any of our family yet. My brothers girlfriend tho has announced she's 10 weeks pregnant as well which makes me feel like maybe I should just keep it to myself for a while - kinda takes the shine off our news as I live abroad but I'm just going to have to get over it.

Been feeling much better this week compared to last week - nausea is slowly subsiding but I now need to use a hairband for my trousers! Can't believe I'm showing so early this time round, with DD1 it wasn't until well over 12 weeks Confused

SylvesterTheCat · 17/11/2017 18:44

Shutupanddance1 I'm using a hairbands to hold my trousers up too! Just feels more comfy. I'm 10+2 but feeling like my tummy is starting to protrude (even though it has always been a bit bulgy there!). I'm desperate not to tell anyone until 12 week scan so using floaty scarves to cover myself. Glad it's coat weather too!

Mintykins4 · 17/11/2017 22:28

I’ve gone passed the hair bands and now into maternity trousers. I’ve been on leave this week and will be 10+7 on Monday but I look like I’m about 4 months. Do you think I should tell my boss before she says anything?

Mummyloves09 · 18/11/2017 04:07

Hey ladies,
Glad to hear your 12 week scans went well. I feel like the time is starting to fly past now. Any pics

Regarding telling work I don't think you have to tell them at this stage but if you want to avoid the boss approaching you maybe it's best you tell first.

I told my boss at 8 weeks, he was excited and started sending me things. Like a box of crispy kreams, sweets and buying lunch. It felt a bit awkward to be fare. But he is a father himself so I guess it was coming from his paternal place.

Hi ladies,

I’m 12+1 due on 1st June. My scan isn’t until Wednesday but we had an early scan as I have a subchorionic bleed and found out it’s twins. We’re super excited but the bleeding has been scary, so I don’t feel the same relief I was expecting to at 12 weeks.

I keep going back and forth about when to tell work. I’ve put on 4kg already (apparently not too unreasonable with twins), but I’m not skinny anyway so it just looks like I put on some weight on holiday. Already bought a couple of things in the next size up to accommodate the bump.

Emz01 · 18/11/2017 10:33

Wow congratulations @ClareB83! Must have been quite a shock to find out it was twins, so exciting but completely understand why you’re still anxious. Really hope your scan on Wednesday goes well!

ClareB83 · 18/11/2017 10:59

Hi Emz, yes it was a big shock. All I said for the first few minutes was Oh My God! They have their own sac and placenta which apparently makes them the lowest risk type of twin. The nurse said 12 weeks was still the main hurdle for them, so if the bleed has shrunk in size on Wednesday I might relax a bit.

senzaparole03 · 18/11/2017 11:31

Good luck, @Clare!!

I had my booking in a week ago, but still no sign of a scan date. I'm 9+2 now, so I have just booked myself an early scan... Wednesday!

I will be 9+6, so hopefully it will be visible and strong enough heartbeat. I am so nervous now, but we're so excited!

ClareB83 · 18/11/2017 11:51

Yes you should get a good clear view and heartbeat at 9+6. My first scan was 9+6 as well and we got a really good look, wiggly hands and feet and heartbeats.

I joined this thread a while ago but have been signed off work for 4 weeks with severe sickness. I threw up 6 times in 3 hours at work two weeks ago so had to go home and been off ever since. I’m 10+1 today and still feeling just as sick. Had an early scan at 9+2 last weekend and saw the heartbeat and all was well but still feel so anxious! 12 week scan is on the 4th December I’ll be just over 12 weeks. Despite being so sick none of me jeans fit me, all high waisted skinny’s so when I’m not in my pjs I’ve been in leggings.
I really wanted to wait until next year before I bought any maternity clothes but think when I go back to work I’ll have to get some black jeans as that’s pretty much all i wear at work.
Due back when I’m 12 weeks so at least I can tell people why I’ve been awol! Hope everyone is doing ok! Congrats on the twins!!

brogueish · 18/11/2017 12:25

Hi everyone.

How exciting to be having twins! Glad to hear of more happy scans.

I have a question for you all. We've booked a Harmony test, which includes a scan, for this Friday, 24th Nov, but my NHS scan is now booked for the following Monday, 27th. Not sure whether to postpone the Harmony and spread out the scans, or to go ahead with both, or what. It's unfortunate that they've come through on consecutive working days - what would you do?

Mumof3cheeky · 18/11/2017 12:55

@brogueish the harmony test will give a very good idea if chromosomaly there is a problem while your 12 week scan will look at baby in a bit more detail but NHS in no way can give you any more accurate idea than harmony regards to chromosomal abnormalities.
I had the panorama test done 9 days ago and that included a super quick scan at the beginning but it was literally only to confirm there is still a heartbeat so it’s worth going ahead for blood test.
The way I looked at it was if there was a problem picked up,i’d rather it was earlier rather than later so I will have more time to think it over.
If you are just worried that you’ll have

ClareB83 · 18/11/2017 12:55

I’d probably just keep both appointments, they have to be within a certain timeframe so you don’t want to miss your slot. But then my work is a) pretty understanding and b) super secure. So I don’t really care about missing time.

ClareB83 · 18/11/2017 13:01

Oranges - I’m sorry you’ve been so sick. I’m already finding my normal work clothes too tight. I know it’s normal with twins to put weight on quick, but I really thought I would have longer. I’ve bought a couple of dresses and a pair of jeans, but that’s not going to see me through a whole work week. I might do some more online shopping this weekend. My OH is at his stag do so I’ve time to spare, esp as I’m meant to be ‘resting’ after the bleed.

backformore · 18/11/2017 16:27

@ClareB83 Congratulations! Apparently I have a bleed on my uterus - is this the same thing? It's being monitored. No twins here, though!

@Orangesaretheonly, sympathies! My midwife gave me a prescription for diclectin, which has totally eliminated my sickness. Is something similar available in the UK?

ClareB83 · 18/11/2017 16:34

@backformore yes I think so. Subchorionic just means below the placenta but yes basically it’s a bruise in the uterus. Best guess is it’s from implantation but I think it’s weird it didn’t bleed until 9+3.

Cookie1831 · 18/11/2017 20:24

Hooray for the twins how exciting!!! I had awful cramps 2 days ago so went to EPAU and all fine, 8+3 and very few clothes fit as is baby number 3 so today I am rocking some very comfy skinny maternity jeans I do keep getting a builders bum but it's worth it!!

Mintykins4 · 18/11/2017 20:34

Aren’t maternity jeans bliss after you’ve been squashing poor tummy. I invested in some new ones from H&M because mine are so stretched from the cake baby last time.

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 18/11/2017 21:49

I'm a bit confused about Epau. Do all hospitals have them? My midwife said see you in 8 weeks after my booking appointment, I kind of figured I was on my own unless something bad happened.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 19/11/2017 04:45

Could it be something like this between 15-16ish weeks? :)

Where I am they don't have a 16 week midwife appointment, instead they see you at the same time as 20 week scan (unless you have a problem)

ClareB83 · 19/11/2017 08:16

I’m pretty sure all hospitals will have an EPU as they’re for emergencies not regular appointments. Someone has to see you if you’re 9 weeks and somethings wrong and that’s EPU. There’s nothing they can really do for baby but they have to check on you too.

Cookie1831 · 19/11/2017 08:45

Yeah all big hospitals would have an epau for people with pain or bleeding x
