Has anyone had any cravings yet (I haven't and wondering at what stage this usually starts)

usernamegoeshere · 16/11/2017 07:58

Sylvester I've not had cravings as such but a definite preference towards savory food, fry ups, hash browns etc but a total aversion to chicken!

Youzanne · 16/11/2017 08:48

Morning ladies! I have a question about beauty products... is everyone continuing to use the same shower gel, body lotion, face wash and moisturiser? I was thinking of switching to an organic brand designed for pregnancy, will cost about £80 all in. Is it necessary to do this though? Any ingredients I should definitely be avoiding? Also, is gradual tan moisturiser safe? Thanks for any input! Xx

ArkadyRose · 16/11/2017 10:34

I'm certainly not changing any of the products I use; "organic" stuff marketed as just for pregnancy is frankly a massive rip-off. It contains the same ingredients as the other stuff with just a huge mark-up.

thinpigeon · 16/11/2017 10:42

@Sylvester - only one craving so far, but was very bizarre - was absolutely desperate for cheese and onion crisps dipped in strawberry jam... Luckily I was out at the time and had subsided by the time I got home because it sounds disgusting!

RockinRobinTweets · 16/11/2017 11:16

My only cravings have been salt initially and mango now.

I’ll not be changing my shower gel etc but I’ll use dermamum stretch mark oil again

ScienceGeekGirl · 16/11/2017 12:10

I’ve had some bleeding. Went to GP earlier and been referred to EPU for a scan. Just waiting to hear from them. Never had bleeding early on last time. Keep trying to focus that I met him/her just a week ago with a heartbeat. Not working very well though.

senzaparole03 · 16/11/2017 12:19

@Youzanne, I always think those aimed at 'pregnancy' are taking advantage of the mum's insecurities at trying to give the healthiest home to the baby.

Entirely unnecessary though!

Keep that £80 towards maternity clothes shopping ;)

RockinRobinTweets · 16/11/2017 12:47

Hope all is okay science chances are it is if you’ve had a good scan

Mummyloves09 · 16/11/2017 13:23

Good morning ladies,

I hope everyone is well?

I have been having bad cramp the last couple of day and woke up this morning with a bit of a bump. I think my uterus has popped up. Has anyone else started to show?

@ScienceGeekGirl I hope all is Ok.

Youzanne · 16/11/2017 15:29

Thanks @ArkadyRose and @senzaparole03 I think you’re right! I have good products and am going to stick with them. It’s easy to get carried away with trying to have everything perfect!!

Youzanne · 16/11/2017 15:32

@Mummyloves09 I was referred to the out of hours GP the other day after cramping, then referred for a scan. Turns out all is ok and the dr said to expect lots of aches and pains as the pregnancy progresses. I’m not showing yet though (9 weeks) How far along are you?
@ScienceGeekGirl I hope you’re ok. I know there’s nothing that can ease the anxiety until you’re given the all clear. Thinking of you!

Mummyloves09 · 16/11/2017 16:05

@Youzanne I'm 11w 2d

Cookie1831 · 16/11/2017 16:16

Argghhh I am not doing well with the not telling people! Another colleague today said I didn't look well and I looked "peaky, pregnant peaky then said are you pregnant?" Well my face said it all I am not a good liar ohhhh dear

Lulu298 · 16/11/2017 16:48

Ha lol cookie! I'm sure people at work suspect I'm pregnant because I am constantly eating and visiting the loo!

Hope everything's ok sciencegeekgirl.

I asked my GP about face creams, foot creams etc early on youzanne and she said anything topical was generally fine.

Newbietwo · 16/11/2017 18:06

I had the 12 week scan today. All looked fine and low risk for all 3 trisomies. Edd of 4th June which matches the scan date from when I had to go into the early pregnancy unit last week.

It was really lovely seeing the little one kicking around in there and a relief the nuchal scan has come back okay. I’ve told my mum now and we’ll tell family over next few weeks. Looking forward to hearing about lots more scans over there next few weeks!

Has anyone already organised childcare for during labour?! This has been on my mind recently as we don’t have grandparents nearby to call. We’re planning a Home birth but will still need someone there for ds obviously, even if we don’t need to transfer.

Lorz80 · 16/11/2017 18:38

@Newbietwo did you get results back same day? I was told results will take up to 2 weeks. Great news that it all looks good! You must be relieved!

Newbietwo · 16/11/2017 18:47

@lorz80 Yes, they tell you before you leave. Takes about 90 minutes all in all. Everywhere is so different though. I’m at St Thomas in London.

@sciencegeekgirl Hope you’re okay. I had spotting everyday in my first trimester last time and all was okay, it was just very worrying. Such an anxious time. Thinking of you.

thinpigeon · 16/11/2017 18:49

Good to hear about 12 weeks scans starting to happen. Mine's not for another 3 weeks (I'll be 13 weeks by then) which seems like ages at the moment. Still a bit worried that I might go and be told that I'm not pregnant at all and it's all been a mistake!

I think I've been quite lucky really - I had to tell work straight away for to health and safety reasons - so they knew weeks before I even told family. I'm good friends with most of my colleagues so it's actually been lovely to be able to talk about it with them.

Lorz80 · 16/11/2017 18:53

@Newbietwo wow that’s really good. I wonder how many other hospitals do the same. Did they test the blood results too? I had mine on Tuesday and I think I’ll get a letter worth the results.

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 17/11/2017 07:05

Hi, have been lurking on this thread for a while. We have our scan much closer to 13 weeks so 3 weeks today, it feels like sooooo far away.
We are having a home birth so I'm hoping to rope my sis in to sit with ds depending on how proceedings go.

Mummyloves09 · 17/11/2017 08:19

@newbietwo so when I go into labour one member of my family or the child minder depending on the time of day will look after DD.

Hanz88 · 17/11/2017 12:56

Had my 12 week scan today, everything was ok..so relieved! Looks like we have got an active bubba, who loved moving their arms and feet around! Due 4th June all being well. I know there were some others with scans today - hope they went well too x

usernamegoeshere · 17/11/2017 13:32

That's my 12 week scan done now too, everything ok and due date moved to 1st June! Was upside down and refusing to turn round but got all measurements done eventually!

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/11/2017 15:32

12 week scan here too. All well baby wasn't playing ball and was wriggling around everywhere so took ages to get the measurements so we got to see them for longer :)

Due date moved forward by a week to 25th May. A day before DD's 2nd birthday. Also one less week to wait until the next scan. Is it ok if I still stick in the June group?
