Yeah fitbit, constipation is totally normal. Pretty sure my bug last week was V&D but the constipation held up which made it difficult to realise it was a bug. You get some syrup which is gentle to relieve constipation, can't remember the name but a pharmacist would know

MrsDneedsaB · 09/09/2017 20:22

I got prescribed Lactulose, it's liquid so maybe that's the stuff you're thinking of @Sam?

fitbitbore · 09/09/2017 21:18

I've been prescribed movicol works a treat. Just nasty to drink.

MissYeti · 09/09/2017 21:32

Ive gone the other way :( haven't had a solid stool for about a week now! Dr didn't seem too fussed though so I'm taking it as nothing to worry about

olicat · 09/09/2017 22:09

fitbit I am right there with you! So uncomfortable, and not helped by the fact I'm craving loads of stodge. I made a big batch of ratatouille with loads of veg and ate that for 3 days in a row, and that's the only thing that's helped! It's uncool having a baby bump at 8 weeks when you know it's only poo 🙈

Poppyandpeaches · 09/09/2017 23:39

I was the same until I got tablets did the sickness and now it's gone the other way Hmm

Sam91TRS15 · 10/09/2017 07:26

Yup lactulose. That's it, very sweet but not too awful a taste

Thelostsock · 10/09/2017 08:10

@MissYeti I've been like that pretty much since conception!!! It's beginning to ease a bit now at 11 weeks

MissYeti · 10/09/2017 09:22

@thelostsock Thanks, that's good to know! Roll on 11 weeks!

FairfaxAikman · 10/09/2017 09:45

Well at eight weeks the morning sickness has definitely hit. Feel permanently queasy all day right now.

MissYeti · 10/09/2017 10:09

Fairfax wow you lasted aged without getting sick!! If it becomes too much to manage i would definitely recommend going to the doctors for anti sickness meds. They've done wonders for me the last few days!

RosesForBadgers · 10/09/2017 10:31

Second that, @missyeti. I wish there wasn't such a massive stigma around taking them. The midwife at EPAU told me to go ask my GP for meds and when I did, he (a locus) treated me like I was a terrible person. He eventually prescribed them but he said he was washing his hands of me and of the situation and next time I wanted them I would have to get someone else to prescribe them for me. I cried all the way home and was too scared to take them for days. But my midwife told me that the drugs are there because sometimes women need them and we shouldn't feel bad if we are too ill to manage alone. I bet if it were men dealing with this there would be no way they'd be expected to wait until they were so ill they were hospitalised before seeking help... Rant over!

Jenacles · 10/09/2017 10:38

So sorry to hear that roses, it's bad enough to feel sick without doctors making you feel bad for trying to get better! How the meds are helping you now though x

MissYeti · 10/09/2017 10:40

Random question! What does the placenta look like on ultrasound and is it visible at 7 weeks?

Poppyandpeaches · 10/09/2017 10:42

@roses and @missyeti can I ask what you're taking? I've been given cyclizine and it's taking the edge off but I'm still feeling pretty miserable.

So sorry you had such a bad experience with the doctor @roses, that's an awful way for him to treat you and you should make a complaint. My doctor specifically said that she was prescribing the tablets because they were considered safe in pregnancy (and I took them last time with no ill effects)
@fairfax mine only really kicked in this week too. I was a bit queasy up till now but nothing compared to how I've felt this week!

MissYeti · 10/09/2017 10:44

roses wow what a dick! Wouldn't it be lovely to kick him in the nuts and ask him if he'd like medication to help, only to slate him for it first. I don't see why men have to be such arseholes 😡😡

MissYeti · 10/09/2017 10:47

poppy I was given promethazine (aka vertigon) it knocks you for six with the drowsiness but they recommend you take it in the evening anyway and I haven't felt any kind of sickness since it was prescribed two days ago!

Poppyandpeaches · 10/09/2017 11:40

So a new stress, have had some dark brown discharge this morning. Phones EPU but they won't see me unless it gets much worse. I'm so worried! I lived in a different area with my first and they scanned you at the first sign of trouble so I don't know what to do!

ScarletSienna · 10/09/2017 11:46

@Aspenn, the same happened to me in my last pregnancy. I started miscarrying twin 2 at around 6 weeks and bled on and off until 14 weeks. Happy to answer any questions if you want to PM Flowers

FairfaxAikman · 10/09/2017 11:59

Eight weeks Yeti. I'm not puking, just more like ... you know when you are so ravenously hungry you feel sick - that!

I was almost reduced to a sobbing wreck in the street today.
Walking to the train station (a mile and a half from home) and some asshole shouted out the window of a passing van "fucking hell, they're like tree trunks" (I was the only one on that stretch so could only be aimed at me).
Now I am larger (but lost two stone prior to conceiving) but I'm also bloated from pregnancy and I'm no happier at my appearance right now than he was.

I hope he's got a big dick cos he's not going to get a shag on the basis of his personality.

MissYeti · 10/09/2017 12:10

Fairfax yeah I had that right at the start and then it got so much worse so quickly :(
Eurgh what an absolute twat! Congrats to you for losing weight! Don't think negatively of yourself cuz some lowlife has nothing better to do with his time than to make someone else feel low. You're busy creating a new human. You rock!

poppy try not to worry, from what I've read spotting is completely normal. Call them again and exaggerate the symptoms a little. They shouldn't get to decide what is bad enough to get checked out But you can say when you get there that it's calmed down if they ask

Poppyandpeaches · 10/09/2017 12:39

Thanks @missyeti I will see how I go over night and can always phone the midwife tomorrow. She knows I'm struggling with anxiety so might be more sympathetic. It seems to have completely stopped now so fingers crossed. It would be really unfair to be this sick and all not be well with baby. The only positive I've been able to get from this week is that things must be going ok if I'm this ill!

@fairfax I can't believe how cruel people can be. Don't forget that your body is creating a new life and that is the most beautiful thing!

MrsDneedsaB · 10/09/2017 12:45

Oh @Poppyandpeaches I feel your pain! I've got to the point now that I get it so much that I keep an eye on it and only call if it's been longer than a week or if it's accompanied by pain.

If it's your first lot, you have it for more than 2 days and you're freaking out, I would ring EPAU again and as MissYeti says exaggerate your symptoms - say you're getting bad cramps "almost doubled over in pain" and they will get you in immediately. Any other thing you say they'll still make you wait a couple of days

FairfaxAikman · 10/09/2017 13:13

Poppy I've had this even when not pregnant. I have to wonder what mentality people have when they think it's ok to abuse strangers.

RosesForBadgers · 10/09/2017 14:33

Thanks for the support everyone. @poppy, I'm on Stemetil which is apparently the next step from cyclazine. I've asked for cyclazine instead because it has a higher safety rating, going to try it next week. Hope the spotting has stopped now, at least dark brown suggests it is older blood?

@Fairfax That's horrible. What a dick! He must have a miserable, empty life to have to get his kicks from abusing women in the street. Shake it off, he's not worth your emotions.
