Congrats to you too Aspenn! I've got an appointment with my Community MW next week and she's going to give me the MAT B1 then. Apparently they're not supposed to issue it until after the 20wk scan now (although I think some do).

Does anyone have the link for the Facebook group? Now that I've had my scan I finally feel like I can join without jinxing anything!

boatrace30 · 22/11/2017 07:38

@Aspenn17 . You usually get the mat B1 from the Midwife at the 24 week appt. or you can phone and ask for it to be left with gp. At least that’s how it works here.

@LivLemler - I’d trust your original dates as I’d also heard that date scanning after 12weeks isn’t accurate as baby growth rates change.

I definitely trust my original dates boatrace but unfortunately the midwife was pretty insistent on changing it. I could see she agreed with me too, but didn't want to contradict the radiographers. Sigh!

ClaireBear1986 · 22/11/2017 09:20

A lot of my friends are in different areas to me and all seemed to get another NHS scan after their 20 week scan.
It looks like the 20 week scan is the last NHS one where I am though. So booked a private 4D scan with Baby Bond for the end of Jan.

Just want my 20w scan to hurry up now. Booked in for next Fri when I will be 20w and 1d. Im excited but also really nervous.
Glad to hear everyone that has already had theirs, has gone so well :)

Think I may have felt some movement last night, but not 100% sure.

Aspenn17 · 22/11/2017 09:49

Ah thanks for letting me know boatrace. At my 16 week MW check up she def told me to ask for it at my 20 week scan so I'll call the hospital today and double check. Maybe I misunderstood her.

Also in terms of original dates my husband actually asked the consultant that yday. He said 'are we still on track for 17th April' and she said 'we never change dates after 12 weeks as after that point babies start to grow at different rates, like children some are just genetically bigger/smaller at certain stages, so the prediction at 12 wks is much more accurate.'

harrietm87 · 22/11/2017 10:40

I had a midwife appt on the same day as my 20 week scan and she gave me my matb form then. It says on the form that they’re not allowed to give it until you’re at least 20 weeks, so guess you’ll get it at your first midwife appointment after your scan.

Thelostsock · 22/11/2017 11:17

Congratulations for all the scans! It’s so exciting Smile

MrsDneedsaB · 22/11/2017 16:04

Just had my 20 week scan this afternoon, the sonographer doesn’t half go to town on your tummy - ouch! Little man was being a little pooper and she couldn’t get every check in that she wanted so I’m back in next week for her to finish them off when hopefully he’s in a better position.

Didn’t get to have my jabs either as I’ve got a mean cough, hopefully I’m better by next week to get them done at the next scan.

Has anyone got their prescription exemption certificate yet? I thought we were supposed to get them at 16 weeks or something...

FairfaxAikman · 22/11/2017 16:10

I’ve had my prescription exemption since my first midwife visit.

Mind you, in Scotland it’s mostly covered anyway.

DaisyLand · 22/11/2017 16:52

Hi ive got mine certificate for exeption as well , i got it back in sept not long after visiting the MW, already cancelled my swimming membership as in here we get it free as well.

@MrsDneedsaB hopefully next week will be all better for measurements! I've got mine tomorrow and scared to death tho i saw him on saturday in a private scan and he seem like a happy boy and all the measurements they could take, which werent many, were really positive to the point i was 19w3d and he was measuring exactly that!

Aspenn17 · 22/11/2017 21:48

I got mine at my first MW appt too, well I got a form and had to send off for it. Congrats on your scan MrsD, very cute! Hope you feel better soon.

I know this was discussed a while ago but has anyone who bought pregnancy pillows (in partic the dreamgenii) got any updates on how you're getting on with it? Such mixed reviews online. Also I booked NCT classes today!

DaisyLand · 22/11/2017 22:16

I’m dealing well with my pillow tho I keep swapping left and right. Glad I got it after the other days news about sleeping on our backs. I used to do this so it’s Helping me not only with the bump but with avoiding stillborn

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 23/11/2017 07:55

Aspen I’ve got the dreamgenii one -
It’s ok - in not in love with it but it does help - wouldn’t say it keeps me on my left side though last night I spent most of the night on my right with the small section supporting my bump kind of half sleeping on my front but I do think overall it does help me get more comfortable and I assume as I get bigger it will be better

That’s good that you got the NCT classes booked - what is everyone doing re this? I was thinking maybe the daisy birthing classes over NCT as this is more local for me + I’ll do the NHS one so that DH can attend - I actually need to think about booking that soon!

Aspenn17 · 23/11/2017 09:22

Thanks Birds and Daisy. My friends all keep recommending the huge U shaped one, one friend has even said I can have hers but they just seem so massive! Starting to get a bit uncomfortable and waking up lots at night. And agreed Daisyland, feel like I want something to stop me rolling into my back after the news reports last week.

Thelostsock · 23/11/2017 10:06

I keep waking up too but can't work out why as I'm not uncomfortable? Luckily I've never been a back sleeper so I tend to roll from left to right

ClaireBear1986 · 23/11/2017 11:43

I bought the DreamGenii and I'm not that impressed tbh. It doesn't really help keep me on my left and the back pillow is too flat so my back still aches.

Maybe it will be better once my bump is bigger and can be rested on the pillow properly.

I find I am waking up at about 4am every morning, and my neck, back and all down my left leg and my left hip ache so bad.
I then end up sitting up in bed reading till I get up at 5.45am as I ache too much to stay laying down.
Problem is I then end up feeling really tired all day. Not sure what the solution to this is really??

Does anyone know if it is ok to sleep on the right side as well, or does it have to be left. Googled this but got so many different answers that I wasn't too sure.

I got my Prescription form after seeing my Doc back in mid Sep and sent it off straight away. Never got anything back, and was expecting to get a card or something. Does anyone know what we should get back, and when we are likely to get it?

I've booked the NCT classes and the NHS classes. I've read so many positive reviews on the NCT and even my Midwife told me that our local NCT classes are amazing. So fingers crossed it is worth the pennies, as it cost me a lot of money in my area.

Thelostsock · 23/11/2017 12:44

I understand that at this stage left or right is fine @ClaireBear1986, as we progress then I think the advice is only on the left? I do find however that if I end up on my right overnight I wake up with terrible heart burn, so trying not to but also getting an achey left hip.

I have the same in that when I wake up, I'm wide awake and struggle to get back to sleep. Fascinated by how well I'm surviving at work on so little sleep!

I've signed up for NCT but haven't actually been offered anything on the NHS. Have also met some nice people at pregnancy yoga, although they're all different stages of pregnancy

ClaireBear1986 · 23/11/2017 14:01

Thanks @Thelostsock. I'll just try and carry on sleeping on my left side so I hopefully get used to it more.
I always fall asleep before my bf, and I wake up to him pushing me back onto my left side when I roll over. Ha ha.

I want to sign up for Pregnancy Yoga but my local class is currently not running as the teacher is on maternity leave herself. Hoping to join in Jan when she returns. How are you finding it?

Sam91TRS15 · 23/11/2017 15:58

I think left is the preferred side, but I think as long as you are on your side it isn't such a big deal. I've found if I lie on my right for too long I get this weird throbbing, either around where baby is it higher just below my boob which obviously isn't the baby. Not sure what it is but it stops me being on my right!

MissYeti · 23/11/2017 19:40

I saw something on Facebook (I think from tommys) that says it doesnt matter if you end up on your back as long as you fall asleep on your side.

Thelostsock · 24/11/2017 07:13

I can't do it, I can't miss Black Friday bargains for fear of it being too soon to baby shop. Happy shopping today everyone Smile

FairfaxAikman · 24/11/2017 08:06

Thelostsock yeah, we are waiting till the January sales.* Shame as I saw the pram I want with £350 off.*

LivLemler · 24/11/2017 12:28

I'm also having trouble sleeping on my side. I get a sore left hip at the best of times and it's waking me up now. I'm a bit better on my right, but really just want to sleep on my front or back. Have the dream genii and find the bit under my back helpful to keep me on my side, but the bit between my legs isn't helpful yet. Awake since 5:20 this morning, and DH was out at a work thing til 12:30. Zzz.

I've been looking at Black Friday deals, nothing too wonderful on the things we're likely to get so guess we'll buy most things in January.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 24/11/2017 16:54

lostsock did you get any bargains?

Thelostsock · 24/11/2017 17:38

No I chickened out @Whymustyoubringinthebirds and decided to wait until Jan. I'm sure they'll be more or less the same and I'll feel more confident and hopefully less anxious then
