I'm 12+3 and the morning sickness is getting worse now! I've just been experiencing the nausea all day until today where now I've been throwing up too. Do you think it's normal for ms to get worse and not better after 12 weeks? I'm soo sad now haha the 12 week mark was what got me through the rough earlier weeks! Yikes!

OrangeCloud18 · 30/08/2017 14:00

Onceuponamama I was told it was more 14-16 weeks. I am 13+3, still nauseous and on 1st day without my medication to stop vomiting.

Excited0803 · 30/08/2017 14:57

That does sound a sorry @sallywiththegoodhurr, hope it isn't the case for you.

My partner has learned that if I say I'm sick in bed, he needs to bring cream crackers and fresh water; he went to get some at 5am today, which felt above and beyond. Eating the crackers before I try to get up really seems to work. I'm working from home this week to allow for naps, currently taking a break in bed and about to sleep. I have no idea how.much more sleep can be possible, hoping to wake up soon (12+6 today).

Excited0803 · 30/08/2017 14:57

*worry not sorry!

Onceuponamama · 30/08/2017 15:00

Gosh feel for you orangecloud. I hate sickness out of everything. 14- 16 weeks is a difference from my gp telling me I should feel ok at 12 weeks! Talk about false hope! Hope you start to feel better soon.

Interesting about the iron and nausea... I'm taking the pregnacare supplement. (I wonder if that is making me feel worse).

lokelani · 30/08/2017 17:12

This is a link I found quickly. I will talk to my MW about starting them up again and keep taking the folic in the meantime. But interesting to read some tips to minimise the impact.

mamasiz · 30/08/2017 18:10

The sickness is such a drag isn't it? I'm hoping it's the antibiotics I'm on for a nasty UTI and not genuine morning sickness still at 12 +5. Anyone getting a lot of acid reflux?

whyhastherumgone · 30/08/2017 18:48

aw @sallywiththegoodhurr google is the worst isn't it? Toes, fingers and eyes crossed that this isn't the case for you - it truly seems that as soon as we relax about one thing, there's something new and horrible to worry about instead :-/

Hooray for all the good scans and big hi to the newbies. I'm still shattered. Thought no napping during the day would mean I sleep at night, but nope. Got my 12 week scan through though, I will be 11 weeks and 6 days [according to lmp] - it's next week, and I am now so so so nervous about it even though we had a scan at 8 weeks and everything looked good. I think I'm worrying about it because we go away the day after for a long weekend so it's in the back of my mind how awful that might be if it's bad news, even though I've been feeling mostly positive.

My nausea has actually got worse the later I've got as well - was just gagging sporadically and not even every day, now it's every day pretty much after every meal and when I'm tired and hungry. Was counting on it magically going away at 12 weeks but now reading your posts I'm guessing that might not be the case...? :(

SunyBay · 30/08/2017 19:38

@whyhastherumgone my 12 week scan is next week too, and I'm starting to get scanxiety (great word). I haven't really had many pregnancy symptoms; essentially no nausea, sore breasts a while ago, dizziness almost a month ago, and sore stomach muscles. And a lot of tiredness. As a few people have had bad news at their 12 week scan, I'm now getting nervous. I know there's nothing that I can do apart from worry, but it doesn't help!

So, I sympathise completely.

Minervamouse77 · 30/08/2017 20:17

Hi all, I could do with a little handholding please. I had the combined test at my scan on Friday and they told me that if the results were showing high risk I would get a call within 3 working days or if they were low risk I'd get a letter in a couple of weeks. So today I was super busy at work and missed a call from the midwife at the screening department who asked me to call back, by the time I called back they were closed for the evening. I'm now freaking out because I guess I've got a high risk result but have to wait until tomorrow now. I'm 40 so knew there was a higher chance anyway but after such a lovely scan I'm scared. I know there is nothing I can do until tomorrow but sleep is going to be a challenge tonight.

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 30/08/2017 20:44

Oh @Minervamouse77, as hard as it is, please try not to worry too much.

Even a high risk result doesn't mean anything is wrong, especially with your age (not that there's anything wrong with your age but you know what I mean!) as that's automatically a risk factor that's added into the calculation.

I'll keep everything crossed for you and I hope you get some sleep Flowers

SunyBay · 30/08/2017 20:45

@Minervamouse77 - here for you. Waiting is dreadful. Just remember that even if they are high risk, it is just a probability and not definite, and they will want to do another test.

Scoobygang7 · 30/08/2017 20:51

@Minervamouse77 have a hand hold from me and an unmumsnetty hug. Try not to dwell on it too much until you have all the information, although I know that's difficult to do.

Well the scan went well today and was lovely to see along with my dp and my lb. I was amazed at the promptness hadn't even been waiting two minutes when we were called in. Scottish NHS is a totally different beast to England, free parking and a request for a donation for you scan pics although not enforced. Will be making a donation on my 20 week scan of what both would have cost in England.

Minervamouse77 · 30/08/2017 21:26

Thanks ladies, much appreciated and you've helped me calm down a bit. I just hate waiting and am frustrated that I missed them by 5mins. I had a look at my scan paperwork and my NT measurement was 2.4, CRL was 70.6 and I was dated at being at 13w+2d. From threads I'd seen on here previously and a bit of google that seems to be not too bad but I know I have to wait to see what that all means alongside the blood test. I'll let you know what they say.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 30/08/2017 21:27

Thinking of you Minerva.

Glad for your happy news Scooby. Is hospitals charging for scan pics a thing now in England? I know I didn't last time, but that was nearly 6 years ago!

Scoobygang7 · 30/08/2017 21:29

@NellWilsonsWhiteHair when I had my lb in Nuneaton it was £5 for two prints 2.5 years ago.

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 30/08/2017 21:33

Glad your scan went well @Scoobygang7

@NellWilsonsWhiteHair scan pictures were FIVE POUNDS EACH at my scans with my last pregnancy (2 years ago) I remember as we wanted 4 and had to find a cashpoint Shock

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 30/08/2017 21:34

Oh mamasiz asked about acid reflux - I think this is my big pregnancy thing, although I don't have heartburn or anything super obviously refluxy! Basically I have a vile taste all day long, which I think is the taste of stomach acid leaking upwards due to helpfully relaxed oesophagus - grim. The only time I don't taste it is while I'm actually eating. I had the same thing in my first pregnancy (alongside more conventional morning sickness), and it didn't pass til 20-odd weeks. I remember finding acupuncture helpful and I'm trying to muster the wherewithal to book an appointment.

Occasionally worrying that I don't have the 'proper' morning sickness this time around (10+3 now so bit late to expect it to kick in now!). I partly wonder whether it's because I've dabbled in various intermittent fasting practice in the last few years - my body is used to running on empty, so maybe doesn't freak out at low blood sugar/ empty stomach in the same way as it used to, even allowing for pregnancy? That's massively unscientific speculation though!
Obviously - and sadly - I realise that 'good' morning sickness is no guarantee of anything anyway. :( But I'll be glad once I've had my scan. 15 days to go still!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 30/08/2017 21:35

Oh wow! I'd better be prepared then - might have a quick google and see if I can find anyone else discussing current practice at my hospital! Thanks both.

Minervamouse77 · 30/08/2017 21:48

It was £5 for one photo and £10 for 3 at my hospital. I bought one, took a copy of it on my phone and then printed more at Boots for 40p each.

Moose23IsHungry · 30/08/2017 22:02

@NellWilsonsWhiteHair I have a theory that people who get bad hangovers / sea sickness / jet lag would be more likely to be affected by morning sickness. I am fortunate to rarely suffer hangovers (when not pregnant obviously), and have never had any jetlag despite many 28 hour flights to the opposite ends of the world, or sea sickness despite a few deep sea boating experiences where my companions where all throwing up from the side of the boat. And now I have had next to no morning sickness.

So I can imagine if you've trained your body to accept feeling less than 100%, that you'd be ok with morning sickness.

It really is stressful for me though because I've had two MMCs previously, so I'd love some reassuring queasiness.

hometownunicorn · 30/08/2017 22:38

moose I like your theory about sickness. It works for me too. I rarely get hangovers (when not pregnant), have never had sea sickness and tend to cope ok with jet lag. Although I've had some nausea it's generally when I'm tired and seems to be getting better at 10 weeks. It's a bit annoying for it to be going as I was finding it reassuring (although massive painful boobs are making me think I'm probably still pregnant)

I didn't know hospitals charged for scan pics! We'll definitely be taking cash, when the scan date finally comes through.

Minerva thinking of you. I hope you manage to speak to them tomorrow. Not knowing what they want to say is the hardest.

Excited0803 · 30/08/2017 23:08

My hospital took credit card, but they also didn't remind me to pay, so I had to go back after my blood test when I remembered. I think it was £5 each.

Scary and frustrating @MinervaMouse. As others have said, it can be your blood not the baby's blood that created an issue. Or maybe it's something else. Fingers crossed it's ok whatever happens, hand firmly held for tomorrow.

On the sickness, I've mostly had nausea, gagging or sick in the back of my throat. I suppose that might suit a hangover. What I do with a hangover is sleep LOADS and drink water, maybe eat cream crackers. That's exactly what I've been doing a lot of; sleep, water, cream crackers.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 31/08/2017 06:59

Your theory makes sense to me, Moose. It's only the fact that I'm not having proper morning sickness now, having had it in a previous pregnancy, that's setting off occasional alarm bells for me - but that was quite a while ago and lots of things have changed since then, I suppose.

I'm sorry for your previous losses - must make it so hard (impossible?) to relax this time around.

Thinking of you this morning Minerva - I hope you can speak with the midwife asap.

ZylaB · 31/08/2017 07:31

I thought I'd stopped being sick but last night was awful and I feel really bad again this morning :(. 12 weeks today and scan is in 6 days, how do I wait that long?! 😂
