Oh so you have 3 and will have 5? 3-5 might be the biggest challenge then! I found no.1 very easy, and going 1-2 was good, but far less easy. I am fully expecting 2-3 to be hard!
I found the smaller age gap great as they were both little and slept a lot! They were easy babies, but very very active toddlers, so i feel I have my hands full now... and my youngest is a dreadful sleeper!

Banania · 18/08/2017 14:25

Hi everyone. Was on the first thread but dropped off.

I have gaps of 2 yrs 9 months and this one all going well will be 3yrs 4 months. The current age gap works well and my dc are great pals. Will have to wait and see for the other!

I still haven't been scanned at all but have been referred for an early scan so waiting on a date. My gp has me at 2 weeks behind where I think i am so all shall hopefully be revealed soon. Think I'm 10 weeks and 3 days currently.

Exhaustion tailing off somewhat and nausea seems slightly better though am still having moments. Last time worst was over by 10 weeks.

Am a bit worried about work as am a contractor- somebody else on the thread is too I think?

Countdowntofour · 18/08/2017 14:25

My girls will be 10, 8 and 4 come March. However big or small your gap I think you just cope.. there's not another option 😁

Banania · 18/08/2017 14:28

Oh and i found 0-1 ridiculously hard and 1-2 even harder!Shock

My babies did not sleep and had reflux/colic, dc2 was the worst. So dh and i are fully expecting the first year to be awful again.
Thankfully both are super now and great sleepers.

blinkineckmum · 18/08/2017 14:28

True countdown! Glad the nausea is subsiding for many. I didn't have any, but am just getting it now, at 9 weeks, which is weird. I am terrified there's nothing in there, but was the same with the first 2, so hopefully all is well. Can't work out why my boobs are still flat though...

blinkineckmum · 18/08/2017 14:29

Ah, maybe you're in for an easy baby this time Banania! Fingers crossed. I'd like a sleeper! x

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 18/08/2017 14:33

I couldn't agree more @Countdowntofour!

@blinkineckmum I'm in Denial about becoming a mother of 5, I mean.. FIVE Shock
We said 1 more and that was that, typical that there's now two in there!

Honestly 2-3 was really quite straight forward, I think it's because they have no other option but to fit in and your a pro at multitasking by then anyway Wink

blinkineckmum · 18/08/2017 14:35

I am really excited. I feel very lucky. All I ever wanted was kids. I used to say 6, then 4, but now I think 3, due to time and money. 5 would amazing! You'll be great!

Excited1203 · 18/08/2017 15:38

I had my doctor appointment today to get the aspirin, she couldn't answer anything about scans. She did say my body will get tired, cold etc because most people need more thyroxine in pregnancy, but they shouldn't change thyroid meds until I see the consultant. She set up my next thyroid blood tests to do just before the consultant appointment so they can see if anything needs to change, anyone else on thyroxine might want to plan the same.

I'm a consultant @Banania, what's your situation and what are you worried about? I haven't spoken to my accountants yet to get their advice, but I did the HMRC form. This might not be true, but I think I don't benefit from Statutory Maternity, but do get Maternity Allowance £140/wk for 39 weeks as long as I work into December, though that only pays out if I don't work at all. Obviously no sick pay right now isn't great on one level, but also then I don't have to feel guilty for my employer about taking the time off.

Doublegloucester · 18/08/2017 16:50

I'll have a gap of 3 years, 11 months. Hope that will work ok...

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 18/08/2017 17:05

DC1 will be nearly 6 when DC2 comes along, all being well. I think it'll be an OK kind of gap, and I'm really thankful he'll obviously be at school etc and is pretty self-sufficient in practical ways - I've always been massively in awe of parents who cope with two under two etc! But having grown quite comfortable having just one child, and the increasing independence/time for myself as the years have gone by, I'm a bit lot nervous about throwing a grenade into our easy life and going back to the baby days! DS was an utterly awful sleeper and I still feel pretty broken by that.

I'm really looking forward to being able to pick him up from school when I'm on mat leave, rather than rushing home from the childminder for bath and bed. That thought is keeping me going through some pretty lacklustre tired-first-trimester parenting right now!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 18/08/2017 17:08

Oh, I think someone asked a few pages back about shopping? So I started shopping for this baby pretty much as soon as I got my BFP. Grin Realise why that's a total no-no for some people but I'm glad I've been doing it. DS was very much planned and wanted, but I'm in a financially better position now than I was with him, and it's been lovely to be able to indulge a bit in a way I couldn't justify/manage last time.

lokelani · 18/08/2017 17:45

@NellWilsonsWhiteHair what stuff have you been buying? What are the indulgent treats you fancy this time around?

I've not let myself (or either grandmother!) buy anything yet. But all being well I will soon.

Minervamouse77 · 18/08/2017 18:02

This is my first but dss is 18 and will turn 19 a few weeks after I'm due. We haven't told him yet because he has been so anxious about his A level results but now he's got them (3 C's!) we will tell him once he's decided what he's doing about his uni place.

I've been so lucky with lack of morning sickness but wow this tiredness is something else. I've never felt tiredness like it. I'm a night owl normally but I've been in bed by 8.30/9pm almost every night this week. 12 weeks on Sunday so I'm hoping I'm more awake next week.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 18/08/2017 18:53

@lokelani I've bought a sling (a Hans stretchy wrap) and I've picked up a few bits of clothing in the sale at Polarn O Pyret and Petit Bateau. So no 'big' items, but DS was strictly a H&M/supermarket/charity shop clothed baby! Silly but fun.

I say that about 'no big items', but except for a buggy I'm not sure I'll be buying any of the obvious big ones this time around anyway. DS' Moses basket went totally unused last time, as did the baby bath. Car seat, I guess.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 18/08/2017 18:55

Oh! I'm also going to buy a proper bloody pregnancy pillow when I start needing one. I ended up using about four additional cheapy pillows by the end of my last pregnancy - between my knees, ankles, behind my back... I will probably be badgering you all for recommendations on this one in the coming weeks!

Onceuponamama · 18/08/2017 20:06

nell I think it was me asking about the baby buys Grin I'm so excited to starting getting things in! dp and I are going to buy the first outfit when we find out the gender... at the minute I think we want to find out at 16 weeks with a private scan. I have accumulated some baby items though, my mum brought around all the knitted clothes that were made for me as a baby which was so sweet of her.

I think I'm almost ready for some bigger/maternity clothes though. Tops are fitting fine but bras, underwear and trousers/jeans are awfully uncomfortable. What do you ladies recommend? Maternity or bigger sizes and what types of clothing did you buy to see you through previous pregnancies? (I'm hoping maternity bras and leggings and bigger underwear, dresses and tops will do but I'm not sure!)

Doublegloucester · 18/08/2017 20:40

I plan to start living in nursing bras soon - v comfy, and h and m do padded ones. Maternity jeans were an essential last time. Some maternity tops double as nursing tops, though they do cling a bit to one's post-partum tummy!

BlueeSpottyTiger · 18/08/2017 20:54

I'll have a 25.5month gap between babies!
Argh 🙈 Am i crazy?

I can't wait to start buying...but with dd i bought loads of neutrals and was fed up of dressing her in them as they are boring!
This time I'll wait until the 16 week scan, so i can buy gender specific clothes (sorry i know not everyone agrees with that concept!)

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 18/08/2017 20:58

Not crazy @BlueeSpottyTiger, it's a good gap!

I know what you mean about getting bored, I always cave and buy loads of clothes and bits but once they are actually here I'm fed up of looking at them Grin (the clothes that is!)

Enariva · 18/08/2017 21:19

I didn't buy that much maternity stuff last time. A pair of jeans and a few smart/casual tops I could wear for work and everyday. Got most of it from eBay. I managed to get away with work trousers using an extender across the zipper.
I did try just sizing up, but the fit was never right. At home I mostly wore lounge pants and loose t-shirts.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 18/08/2017 22:17

I bought very little maternity stuff last time - a pair of jeans (H&M) and three tops on eBay, I think! I mainly lived in (normal) leggings and loose jumpers/dresses. I worked in a much more casual office then though. I also showed very late, i think because I'm quite long in the torso. Planning to buy a few nice bits this time around, partly because it'll definitely be my last pregnancy, but I'll wait and see when I need them first. I know second babies tend to show earlier/bigger, but I'm not sure how the five-year gap might affect that general principle anyway. As soon as I can't get into my current stuff, I think I'll switch straight to maternity rather than sizing up or anything.

That's so sweet that you've got the knitted stuff from your own babyhood, onceupon! DS had my newborn babygros - we do rapidly-fattening babies in this family, so me, my sister and my DS, all 7lbs at birth, only fitted them for a fortnight each! Looking forward to putting this baby into them too, however briefly!

Fefifoefum · 18/08/2017 22:21

I can't wait for my 12 week scan, I feel like I'll be able to buy then. Don't feel like I can prior to that, I feel really quite anxious about it, because so far all that's happened is I've pee'd on a stick.... nothing else to confirm (obviously vomming/exhaustion) but I'm worried that the baby won't be there/won't of grown?!
My scan isn't until the 31st, I'll be almost 13 weeks then, don't want to wish my life away but hurry up time!

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 18/08/2017 22:39

We've bought a few little bits already - last time we didn't get a single thing till the 20 week scan but I just can't seem to wait this time round! I blame my DSis, as she got a couple of babygrows when I stayed with her a few weeks ago, and I have an uncontrollable urge to add things now.

Not quite at the stage of needing new clothes yet, although the maternity bras are calling - I need a proper fitting though and am quite generous of boob so will try bravissimo which I've heard good things about.
Yy to the maternity pillow - I could not have got through the last couple of months of pregnancy, or breastfeeding, without mine!

Sallywiththegoodhurrr · 19/08/2017 08:04

I think my sickness might be finally coming to an end, or at least getting better!

I feel slightly more human, I've been feel so unwell with nausea and headaches these past few weeks so it's a welcome change!

8+5 today and with my other pregnancies the sickness (which was nothing in comparison!) completely stopped at 9 weeks So FINGERS CROSSED 🤞🏻

How is everyone else feeling?
