naughty tam, working at nearly midnight! Quick whinge - I too had my doctors appt yesterday - not good news on the blood pressure front - i've been referred to see a consultant on tuesday so they can review my 'case' . not at all happy about it.

Juicylucytoo · 30/03/2007 09:24

Just thought I'd pop in to say howdy dudey. Nothing much going on here. Pod is trying to rearrange my ribcage on a daily basis, but apart from that nothing new.

Off to pick up my bugaboo tonight in Primrose Hill no less. Almost expect it to have gold wheels

Went to a homebirthing group last night. Made me feel much happier about the decision to go for homebirth. Just a bit concerned when 2 people there told me they'd given birth to their first 2 weeks early. Pod had better not turn up early. I only finish work two weeks before my due date

All this talk of manicures etc has inspired me to get one. Maybe I'll go the whole hog and get a mani- and pedicure. The last time I did that was for my wedding!

Only 26 days left in this hellhole. Hurrah!

BefnalBunny · 30/03/2007 09:24

decided to cheer myself with a new easter name

BefnalBunny · 30/03/2007 09:25

x-posted! morning jl. still at your pram!

Juicylucytoo · 30/03/2007 09:27

That's pants BB. Nice relaxing w/e for you then. Long baths + lots of rest.
Strictly no kitchen work!

On the bright side - might they may give you something to help the BP drop?

BefnalBunny · 30/03/2007 09:31

think its closer monitoring first ie weekly visits to royal london, then tablets if it is still going up. annoying thing is that by normal standards it isn't even that high at 130/82. grrr. By the way I went on labour ward round last night, midwife was lovely and advocating using birthing balls, different positions, dimmed lighting, music and proffering bowls of hot water to put aromatherapy oils in to make atmosphere more relaxing! was v surprised. postnatal ward also ok - biggest room 5 people which isn't fab, but certainly not the 30 people ward my sis had to go in at the whittington. feeling a bit happier about it now.

Bensonbluebird · 30/03/2007 09:31

Scoot, sounds like that woman knows she's not doing a good job and trying to take it out on you. Stay strong. Think you really need a cape for your saviour of the elderly superhero role. Only eight days left by the end of today....

MKG - so sorry you are having a difficult time, it is the last thing you need. Think it really does sound like your DH needs to spend more time with his son and find out that that is just what 20 month olds are like.

Feeling lots better this morning, antibiotics seem sto be working.

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2007 09:32

Good morning all.

First things first, I received my secret shower presents yesterday! Incredibly thoughful and lovely. I have a sneaking suspicion who sent them too because of the postmark/where the present was from! I shall keep schtum though but will just say thank you very much- and it tastes surprisingly present. Oddly enough the cat really likes it too (she usually goes mad for spiced chai but it would seem she's expanding her tastes). NB, I do not give tea to my cat, she steals it when you leave your mug unattended! I must apologise to the person waiting for a present from me (although you have no idea who you are right now) as I get paid today and have been waiting for sufficient funds to allow me to venture into town. So, will definitely sort it out tomorrow. I love pay day. Two gingerbread men to celebrate.

I am sitting at my desk drinking a pint of milk (as you do) and feeling slightly shocked on two accounts. Firstly, I slept for 11 uninterrupted hours last night and secondly LG&T gave birth. In my dream obviously. I'm warning you woman, it was quick and Hugs had to perform the delivery. Odd.

Fantastic news of today is... a fair's coming to town. I'm ridiculously excited having never been to a fair (now don't shatter my illusions, in my head it's all hook a duck and candy floss, I'm sure it's actually drunken teenagers and lots of scamming in reality). DH is going to take me- although at 8 months pregnant I'm sure I'll only be good for waddling around in glee. Ooh a fair, golly what larks. I seem to be stuck in some kind of 1950s idealism. You have to pity Mathilda really. When the poor child is old enough for birthday parties her friends will traipse round expecting e-numbers and discos and I'll provide apple bobbing and treasure hunts. Poor girl, I will make her extra bloomers to cheer her up.

Right, what is it they pay me for...? Going to catch up with the thread and try to remember...

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2007 10:18

Just caught up properly, now have Cath Kidston envy! I have a Cath Kidston sleeping bag and rain poncho- very dashing dontcha know! DH drew the line at matching tent!

JL- homebirths definitely the way to go. My midwife thinks hospital births are 'sent from hell to try us'. I'm secretly quite excited about giving birth, but fear not by this afternoon I'll be terrified again. LO currently playing xylophone on my ribs with her feet and headbutting my bladder in time. Very musical.

Benson- glad you're feeling a bit better, you've had a tough run of it. And Befnal, hope the bp drops quick smart and the medical bods leave you alone.

Scoot- woman is clearly a nutcase. You won't listen to me but don't think about it all weekend. DH does that when he's angry/wound up/upset, he lets it play on his mind. You're far nicer, prettier and much more sane than said crazy lady and 9 days until you're free. I hope she gets no easter eggs as punishment. Nasty woman.

Cinnamon- I only went to 1 antenatal class and then skived off on account of it being utter tosh. Had hoped to make friends but when they heard I was having a homebirth (and I was probably wearing patchwork at the time), one of them called me a hippy earth mother and they all ignored me after that. Oh well, can't worry about it have too many lentils to weave.

Another pink one! Congrats and they're probably right about the gender this far on. I was told 'it's a girl', asked how sure she was and got 'it's a girl' again. If it's not I'm going to be very surprised!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 30/03/2007 11:01

Hello all.....

MKG, glad you had a better day.

Scoot, Grrrrrrr at the evil insane woman. Just keep plodding along it will soon all be over for a while.

SOH, Your here! One whole day yesterday without a post, I was almost concerned. Congrats on your secret shower present, how exciting.
Any news on dh tests yet, is it next week the results?

LW, Ewwww a 13yr old sister. Very difficult, is she not very gooey over your bump? my neices are obsessed with babies and bumps. oh and hair straightners???

Howdey doodey JL.

BB, crap about your BP, I do hope it's nothing other than a bit of stress. Keep positive.

Miniapple bub also giving me jip today. It's soooooo uncomfortable when it wriggles, oh the feet in the fanjo are not pleasent.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 30/03/2007 11:22

MrsJB the test results are next week- well remembered. We're just waiting for the phonecall and trying to ignore the giant pink elephant with halitosis in the corner of the room. DH has applied for 5 jobs this week "just in case". I'm desperately hoping he doesn't need any of them. Unfortunately, the new downside to this whole thing is that he's refusing to ever take any medicine again if he's poorly unless it's prescribed by a GP. So last night he had a migraine after a 15hr shift and he wouldn't take any paracetamol. Cue him not being able to sleep, the migraine subsiding to a dull throb and DH feeling rotten this morning.

Feet in the fanjo, hmm, though alliteratively pleasing, sounds like a pretty unpleasant sensation. Somebody on MN refers to those feelings as 'crotch zingers' which I think is pretty apt!

Poor dejags, have you read about her cat?

Pebblemum · 30/03/2007 11:32

Morning

Im another one whose LO is determined to kick and bash me around all day i think, while its reassuring to feel her at the same time its also really uncomfortable. Im getting the kicks low down but mainly it seems she is trying to push her head through my bump, if it wasnt so painful it would be quite funny to see this little round lump appear

I have decided that i will risk it and buy a nice girly outfit for the LO to come home in (i will also take a neutral coloured one in case they have got it wrong, dont think dh would appreciate bringing a boy home dressed in pink) As most of you have said it should be fairly obvious at this stage if there is a little willy there or not Put it this way ds1 has been told they think it might be a girl (didnt have a choice but to tell him he kept on and on asking) and he is over the moon, he was so happy he got tears in his eyes bless him so i hope they have got it right otherwise i will have a really disappointed boy on my hands

Mrsjaffabiffa · 30/03/2007 11:35

I quite like crotch zingers. lol

My memory does work sometimes. (not often though, lol) Well at least he is thinking on the just incase line. I'm sure it will all be fine, I so hope it is, I think I can understand how much him getting into the force would mean to you both.

I was just looking for anymore from djags, is it on her c-sec thread or another?

APRILMEADOW, You have made my day!!! You all have no idea how long I have just danced around the lounge for at the sight of cadburys buttons and creme eggs. I must be the lukiest UKer in France right now. THANKYOU

breath deeply, hands on knees to recover....

Pebblemum · 30/03/2007 11:38

Good luck mrsJB, if your family are anything like mine they can smell chocolate a mile off and will soon discover your secret stash. If they do tell them to keep off, you are pregnant and its your right to sit and scoff it all on your own

Bensonbluebird · 30/03/2007 11:44

Pebble, how sweet that DS1 really wants a sister. I asked DS (2) the other day if he would like the baby to be boy or a girl and he said very firmly "a girl" hope he isn't going to be disappointed. Being that young I don't think he'll mind when it comes down to it.

It's my birthday today and I've got a pile of presents that I said I would wait until DS got home from the childminder to open. Can I resist?

BefnalBunny · 30/03/2007 11:49

Happy Birthday! Go on... open one!

Bensonbluebird · 30/03/2007 11:54

Will try to hold out... a bit longer

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2007 12:02

Oh a very happy birthday to you m'lady. Delayed gratification, hold out a bit longer!

Dejags poor cat.

Juicylucytoo · 30/03/2007 12:08

Happy Birthday Benson. Go on... open one

Mrsjaffabiffa · 30/03/2007 12:20

Happy Birthday Benson...

Poor dejags, what a horrible thing to happen.

Just had something else to distract me, a delivery of a case of wine for DP. His publishers sent it as an apology for losing some of the artwork from his book. It's gonna take us ages to get through that lot!

DizzyBrummie · 30/03/2007 14:26

Hi guys, I have another question. The last 2 times I've been food shopping I get towards the end but then get what feel like really strong period pains (constant not in waves or anything). As this is my 1st LO I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is? It doesn't sound like BH as there is no tightenng feeling. It goes away after I sit down for a bit

Bensonbluebird · 30/03/2007 14:40

Doesn't sound like Braxton Hicks to me either - do you think it might be something to do with the position you are in when pushing a trolley around?

Sounds like you need to be excused from food shopping!

DizzyBrummie · 30/03/2007 14:43

I'm not even pushing the trolley, DH does that

Bensonbluebird · 30/03/2007 14:47

Oh... strange that it only happens then. Not sure what to suggest as I haven't had anything like that.

Very quiet this afternoon. Was a bit worried I had squashed and killed the thread with the case of wine earlier.
