Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Juicylucytoo · 28/03/2007 13:48

Join us SOH - sniper just got me my bugaboo for £285. WHAT A BARGAIN!!!

(will also make us feel less guilty knowing there are more in our ranks)

Juicylucytoo · 28/03/2007 13:49

Am sure my baby will be a mischievous little sod like his Dad. Can't wait.

cinnamontam · 28/03/2007 13:57

BB - that sound bloody hellish! What a crap couple of weeks.

JL - £285 for a Bugaboo...that is fabulous

BefnalBub · 28/03/2007 14:26

JL at your bugaboo! then again, was in the kings road yesterday and everyone has bugaboo or maclarens, so will just have to put up with looking different if slightly sweaty and red faced from lugging my heavier loola about.

nope still v . will require guinness to redress balance

largeginandtonic · 28/03/2007 14:45

JL that is such a bargain! I have been watching the geckos for a few weeks to see what they go for, £320-50 seems about the lowest.

I want to sell my quinny zapp and P&T and hope fully buy most of it with the pennies from the sale.

I went to toys r us and got maternity pants (disposable) maternity pads (millions) cotton wool, top and tail bowl(so useful) and nappies (size 1) Thats all i need right? I have all the clothes for him to wear and im breast feeding so dont need bottles. Oh bollox....breast pads. Nearly got it all, doh.

All kids clothes have been packed up now, just toys and mine and dh stuff to pack up now. Car is going to be toppers, just as well fil is helping us with his car too. How i will manage to get all stuff and SIX children home again i have no idea!!!

cinnamontam · 28/03/2007 15:14

Who's been doing the packing LG&T?? I've been thinking of you lounging in the garden with a cool drink in one hand, crappy paperback in the other and a wide floppy hat to keep the sun off. Am I dreaming?

largeginandtonic · 28/03/2007 15:27

I have been packing BUT dh has been bringing me all the drawers so i just pile and place He doesnt know who's clothes\pants\socks are who's so needs supervision. It is quite tricky, 5 little piles of clothes and the only one that is easily recognised are dd's, she even gets my pants sometimes

I have just eaten an ENTIRE toblerone, not the little one either.....baby behaving and deserved a reward. I am gonna pay though, heartburn already

cinnamontam · 28/03/2007 15:36

Doh about the heartburn!

about the packing but I can understand you being the only one to know what belongs to whom. Take it easy though...we want all these bean's perfectly cooked - like your delicious cakes

ShowOfHands · 28/03/2007 16:04

Have you seen the thread linking to this?

cinnamontam · 28/03/2007 16:20

Oh bless - that is so lovely

cinnamontam · 28/03/2007 16:20

You realise SOH that one of the other links is to Otter Porn...tut tut woman

ShowOfHands · 28/03/2007 16:27

I most certainly do not.

My brain is wired to not notice anything containing the words porn, filth or naughtiness.

oh God I've been caught...

Pinkjenny · 28/03/2007 16:53

Been busy today - I've actually been washing and ironing. OK - not that busy, but have done a bit.

Just wanted to quickly say to anneme - I had labyrynthitis last year - pre-pg, but a bit traumatic to say the least. The best tip I was given was when you feel a spell coming on, stare down at your thumb. Sounds totally random, I know, but it helps you regain your sense of perspective and balance.

Mine lasted a little while and comes back very occasionally, which I blame on the pg now.

And don't turn your head too quickly either.

Big kiss to everyone. I'm watching Ricki Lake. I'm such a chav.

Pinkjenny · 28/03/2007 17:33

LG&T - indulge your baking goddess by sending me an easy recipe. My grandad (bless him) bought me a mixing machine (whatever they are called). So far I've only made muffins. Which were rock hard and tasted weird.

Dh said, they are lovely babe, they have a very unique flavour. Which somehow, I don't think was a compliment.

Suggest an easy peasy recipe for me to make. I am at home this week and am bored, bored, bored. And I don't like raisins. (In case you suggested something with raisins, not because I thought you needed to know...)

largeginandtonic · 28/03/2007 18:19

Evening, i can hear a beeping.... Must be alarm going off in the twins room, thought i was bonkers for a minute there. Well i am i suppose......

Anyway back to what i came on to do, recipie for Pink. These are soooo easy, mix in one blender and cook in one tin. No faffyness involved but very scrummy

LEMON TRAYBAKE

8oz soft marg\butter
8oz caster sugar
10oz self raising flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 eggs
4 tablespoons milk
grated rind of 2 lemons

mix in bowl and pour in to roasting tin that you have greased and dusted with flour. 12x9 inch. Bake for 35-40 mins at 180 degrees c or 350 degrees F or gas mark 4. It will be springy in the middle and a skewer will come out clean when ready.

TO ICE

Mix lemon juice from zested lemons (about 3tbsp) with 8oz icing sugar and pour over the top when cooled. Cut in to sqares and eat!

CHOCOLATE TRAYBAKE

4 tablespoons cocoa
4 tablespoons hot water
8oz marg\butter
8oz caster sugar
10oz self raising flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
4 eggs
1 tbsp milk

As before mix it all together but first blend cocoa and hot water and allow to cool and then pour in with everything else.
Bake and line tin as before.

TO ICE

4 tablespoons apricot jam, warmed, brush all over cake. Melt 5oz chocolate in a pan with 6tbsp of water until melted and smooth Then add 12oz icing sugar and 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil and beat until all glossy and smooth. Pour over cake, leave to cool and cut in to squares.

Hope these are ok, they are the ultimate in easy and if you cant be faffed you could not bother with the icing. The roasting tin is genius, no fiddly cakes to sandwich and very easy to cut up and scoff...

Pinkjenny · 28/03/2007 19:03

Thanks LG&T - will try tomorrow and let you know!

Fish fingers and chips for dinner tonight. DH will be thrilled.

Fish fingers AND Ricki Lake. What a day.

scootermum · 28/03/2007 19:56

largegandt-did your parcel come?!If not im going to have serious words with the post as I paid for next day delivery-or what if some feckers nicked it?!Someone somwehere will be scoffing a mixed dozen of KK with a big smile on their face..

Bugger.Let me know if it comes and if they are still edible by the time it does..RUDDY POST!!
You are still at home yes?

Bit worried about dh-he has started revising for his exams, (the last of which is on May 24th, my due date-great timing) and is finding is harder than he thought and he has a ton of normal work to do, plus now a house move to sort-well I can do that but he will want to as he thinks I cant be trusted with conveyacing and he may be right), plus he's worried about not being free to help me with dd as I get bigger and all that..Feel a bit useless as there isnt anything I can really do to help him out-its just a very high pressure time..

Dont worry re tears SOH.I had a third degree one and was in theatre for an hour and 20 mins after the birth being stitched this way and that and Im fine-and actually was pretty ok after as well-managed to go to Bluewater for the day and walk round no problem when dd was 5 days old..It all just depends on the skill of your stitcher I think..(Did have a surreal and disturbing moment when a male medical student, aged approx 16, peered over the consultants shoulder as she was at work and said to me reassuringly, 'dont worry, it looks really nice', Groooosss!)
When im at work tomorrow will look in my book and let you know which day better for London meeting up..

Still feel like death today and had a funny turn whilst training some staff.Mind you the room was very hot and the staff were very tiresome..Am going to scoff down a pizza and then take some homework to bed..9 working days to go..Was off work by now at this stage with dd, so am beginning to feel it a bit..

oh, bb I like the Loola.I saw it in John Lewis the other day and got quite envious..

scootermum · 28/03/2007 20:24

OOH!DH has said yes to the phil and teds!Do you want me to send you a cheque?Did you say £250?And what for the p and p?
(Scooter jumps around very excited!!)

MKG · 28/03/2007 22:44

Hey everyone. I have mixed emotions today.

It started great because I went to the doctor and found out that I lost 3 pounds . Blood pressure is good, urine is good, and I have an ultrasound in three weeks to check the size of the baby.

It has totally sucked since.

Dh was in charge of watching ds and it was a nightmare. Dh says that ds irritated him because he didn't sit quietly at the doctor and just wanted to run around. What 20 month old will sit quietly!? He's such an idiot.

He said that ds ruined his day and has been terrible to me since saying that it's my fault that ds doesn't behave.

We are so in debt and dh doesn't do anything about it and doesn't seem to care. I want to get a job at night, but I can't because dh takes no parental responsibilities whatsoever. He's s great dad but a terrible parent if you get what I mean. Gotta go will catch up later.

anneme · 29/03/2007 02:55

Pink - thank you, will try thumbstaring and let you know! Seems better today as long as I don't waggle my head too much (?!)

MKG - poor you. You are right that 20 mt olds just don't sit still - more worrying if they do I think. Sounds like your DH needs to do MORE babysitting etc so he can understand that this is normal behaviour. Trouble is we don't necc see other children misbehaving because they do it at home so it can feel that our kids are the worst in the world. Just keep repeating the mantra "I am a good mum"

scootermum · 29/03/2007 09:46

Anemne-were you on at 2.30 am?!You must be knackered..that said I was awake from about then onwards so had I known I would've got up and come on to keep you company!Feel quite worn out today and have just got soaked walking from one service to another on my way to work as they are digging up the road outside mine..Day can only get better..

Worries that were magnified to horrendous proportions in the early hours as I lay awake:Will DD's forthcoming MMR make her ill?(in the day Im quite confident it wont, by night I become convinced that giving her the combined jab will ruddy near kill her). Will I ever be thin ever again? Will dh and I's proposed Birthday weekend away with friends in December be a complete disaster? Will they put down that Polar bear that was born in the German Zoo?Will largegandt rest up as she is meant too and will she get her KK?Will TYG collapse in a heap before the end of the week if she carries on working horrendous hours?Would it be possible for my GHD hair irons to spontaneously combust if I left them plugged in, (but switched off)by mistake one day whilst I was at work?
Im hoping I get a bit more kip cest soir so I avoid puzzling over these and many more imponderables..

Ruined his day MKG?How does he think you cope all the time?Im sure your lo was juSt behaving as normal lo's do.Men sometimes just see things from only their own perspective I think-and beggar what the rest of us think..I think you will have to sit him down for a long talk and tell him he's gonna have to step up a bit eSpecially with a new baby around..Plus if you want to get a job at night, when the new baby is settled, you ruddy well should-The kids will pretty much be asleep all the time you are gone anyway so he surely wouldnt have too much to do?

BefnalBub · 29/03/2007 10:44

this is amazing! Norwegian skis escalator . Guardian article about it here

Bensonbluebird · 29/03/2007 10:46

Hello all,

I'm having another yucky week - this time everyone else is healthy but I have a sinus infection which is making my head feel like it is about to explode and giving me toothache. I gave in and went to get antibiotics this morning so I hope they work quickly.

LG&T - glad to hear there is some resting going on. Heard from a woman from my active birth class who has just had a section cos her baby was - wait for it - 10.5lbs and an undiagnosed breach. Think a section was the right call there!

Bensonbluebird · 29/03/2007 10:48

Blimey - escalator skiing? think that might wreck your skis!

DizzyBrummie · 29/03/2007 11:24

Hi all, this is off-topic but here goes...

As I can't reach my toes very easily any more I was thinking of having a pedicure. Only trouble is I'm a bit foot phobic (they shouldn't really be seen, that's why socks were invented), would anyone recommend having one and what do they do?
