OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SKYTVADDICT · 29/03/2007 11:31

DizzyBrummie - sppoky question as I have a pedicure booked at 12.00 and will report back.

I got a voucher from DP in December which runs out end of March so had to use it for something and couldn't decide what. It costs £23 so will let you know this afternoon what it involved.

BefnalBub · 29/03/2007 11:31

totally recommend pedicures! I go to one in shepherd's bush; they soak your feet, then use a tool to, ahem, 'shave' any thick skin on your feet. They then moisturise/massage, trim nails & cuticles, and finally polish. Polish stays on for ages! The women at my salon are very busy and just get on with it - they don't speak much english ?think they are thai? and can be quite brusque, but I that helped me as didn't feel embarrased or have to chat! Did a manicure at the same time and the whole thing took around an hour for £28. Good idea, think i'll book myself in again. take flip flops for after so your polish doesn't get ruined.

scootermum · 29/03/2007 12:08

£28 is a bargain for both!Where in Shepherds Bush BB?As am working over at Goldhawk rd next week and might need a little treat...

SOH Tuesday eve (10th) for meet up?Or afternoon of Weds 11th?

BB - thanks for the flip flops tip, I wouldn't have thought of that.

Might try to book one this afternoon...I'll see how SkyTv gets on.

madeindevon · 29/03/2007 12:38

hello all
had day off work yesterday to "relax" yeah what a joke! got up to be faced with messy kitchen (hubby been cooking) diswashwer to empty/reload, dry washing to sort, washing machine full of washed to take out and hang up (hubby helpfully put load on before work) after a 5 mins cry i pulled myself together and just got it all sorted! whats wrong with me!? housework doesnt normally make me cry!! would rather have gone to work at that point!!
went to aquanatal class at gym in the afternoon which made up for it. while it was lovely to be floating and jigging about in the water it didnt really feel like proper exercise? will it really do me any good?
the hardest bit was getting out of pool after when you realise how heavy bump actually is!!

SKYTVADDICT · 29/03/2007 14:06

Hi, back from pedicure now. Really very nice.

As BefnalBub said they soak your feet, use a file then electric tool to get rid of dead skin. Then they moisturise, massage, trim nails & cuticles and paint the colour of your choice. I have gone for a very light pink as it may look better for longer. They had recommended flip flops when I booked and she said not to put shoes on for at least an hour. Shouldn't be a problem as my mum is collecting girls from school so I am just about to put my feet up with a cuppa and late lunch. Go for it DizzyBrummie - I can highly recommend it.

DizzyBrummie · 29/03/2007 14:10

That's me convinced, I'll book one

ShowOfHands · 29/03/2007 14:29

Colleague has just called in with her 12 week old daughter.

'Orrible little thing.

largeginandtonic · 29/03/2007 15:32

Scooter.....the postie came yesterday but didnt push the delivery thing through the door so when i came back from toys r us i didnt know there had been a delivery. I found it when the postie came today and pushed it through the mail box with the other post. The post office shuts at 2 here and we go tonight at 7!!!!!! I have phoned the post office but they are not picking up, they must all go home at 2. Am seriously deebating on bashing down doors to get in there.

I have read the card and they will only re-deliver to a local address. I cant believe it!!!! Anyone have a brainwave? I cant bear them sat all alone in the post office, such a waste. I am so sorry scooter. I am crying in to my next huge shock of the day.

No not a baby coming out, a VERY, VERY nice shower present. It is so nice and thoughtful im having a little sob. Who was it? I cant not know, it isnt fair. It certainly is not keeping to the rules either.

largeginandtonic · 29/03/2007 15:41

The pushcahair scooter, i nearly forgot in the excitment. £250 and we will cover the P&P for it so dont worry. When we get to Plymouth i will clean it up and organise a courier to send it on to you. It will be next week now, hope thats ok. My email is [email protected]

The donuts, the poor donuts.... >

The lovely gift, oh i love it so much. All this excitment is going to put me in to labour. When they ask me what did it i will have to say uneaten KK donuts and a Cath Kidston nappy bag....

largeginandtonic · 29/03/2007 16:17

Right.....ive just had my secret shower lady on the phone. This is because she has not sent me lovely Cath Kidston nappy bag for my pressie but something very yummy that is still on its way.

This means that some VERY naughty person has bought me a Cath Kdston nappy bag just because! I am in even more now. I have a sneaky suspicion.......own up at once so i can call upon your doorstep and drown you in my tears of happiness.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 29/03/2007 16:25

Oh it's all gone horribly wrong......

Very pleased you have your lovely bag, lg&t. Somebody is very thoughtful and kind. You do deserve it though, supermum!

Hope your trip to Plymouth goes well and keep in touch. xxx

largeginandtonic · 29/03/2007 16:45

Have had the lovely lady on the text.....my suspicions were right, i even called her by her full name......TYG. [GRIN]

She sent it.....i love it, am all teary. I want to hug her. It is the nicest thing i have ever been sent. I am at a loss what to say.

largeginandtonic · 29/03/2007 16:50

Dont worry MrsJB, i will get it! I will just get my friend to send it on. It will be ok.

DH just said to me....."god knows how you are going to cope when you have store stinky nappies in the bag" Cue horrified look from me.....the bag is for the baby to BORROW when it is being very good

Pebblemum · 29/03/2007 16:59

Afternoon all

LG&T wow a secret admirer eh? How lovely.

Well i had my scan this morning and the placenta has moved so yah for that but the LO is now breach after being head down at last appointment Booo!! Everything else seemed fine but i thought the scan was very rushed. There was no pointing out anything like the last couple of times, the woman just checked the placenta, measured the fluid surrounding baby and that was it, a bit dissapointing really especially as it was the first scan that DH had been to this time around, i didnt even get any pics . I did ask if she could tell me the sex and she said that looking at it today she would say that im having a.......girl!!! but not to hold her to it so in a way i dont know whether to let myself get excited or not. I know they always say that anyway just to cover themselves and i couldnt see any dangly bits but part of me is worried about getting too excited and thinks i should wait until the birth but it is hard, i keep smiling at the thought that i have got the little girl i wanted I think if the scan hadnt seemed so rushed I may have been more confident with her answer

I also had ante natal appointment with my Dr this afternoon so its been all a rush. The Dr said everything is fine, she doesnt think the baby is measuring small so i expect it was just the dopey stand in midwife got it wrong and the heartbeat was nice and strong. i have to see the midwife in two weeks to see if Lo is still breach and then discuss our options but i have every confidence that all will be ok by then

I got a good result with the bath support i bought. I mentioned the other day that they had sent a pink one instead of white well i emailed them to let me now and find out what they were going to do about it-i didnt fancy paying the £6 return postage if they werent going to reimburse me otherwise it would have worked out costing me more than if id gone and bought it from a proper shop. Anyway they emailed me back apologising for the mistake and have put a white one in the post. As for the pink one i am allowed to keep that one too so i will have paid £12 for two brand new bath support seats not that i need two but hey im not going to argue with them. Its not often something like that happens to me

Pebblemum · 29/03/2007 17:00

oops took so long to write my post i didnt know the secret admirer had been unmasked.

She should have kept you guessing a bit longer lol

Mrsjaffabiffa · 29/03/2007 17:33

Welcome to the breach club pebble.

Where is SOH and TYG anyway????

Pebblemum · 29/03/2007 17:43

I was just reading Dejags thread in chidlbirth, it seems these May babies are determined to keep us on our toes already and they havent even been born yet

At least now i know that the big round lump which keeps sticking out of the top of the bump isnt a bum its a head afterall. It also explains the horrible little kicking movements low down, was beginning to wonder what it was if the head was supposed to be there lol

Have you noticed-theres a due in December thread already!!

aprilmeadow · 29/03/2007 18:29

Hi ladies

Just written a long post and the stupid laptop lsot it!!

Am on my hols in Wales for a few days and it is just so lovely and quiet. Staying on a lovely farm and getting all my meals cooked for me etc. Ds is loving being surrounded by pigs, horses, chickens and dogs/puppies.

Bought my secret stork gift today and am already having doubts about it! Might have to continue the hunt and see if i find anything better. MrsJB will confirm that i have a TOUGH one!!!!

Had a mw appt yesterday and whilst urine and bp is ok bubs is STILL breech. Have another appt on the 10th April when i will be 36+5. If still breech then they want to refer me to hosp to get her turned..... Not sure i fancy that much tbh. So any Dr's or midwives or anyone with any experience in the whole turning thingy please can you let me know whats involved and reassure me that it is somehting i should have done

Pebble - a PINK one.... how lovely. I am sure that at your stage of pregnancy they MUST be able to say what it is. It must be clear enough to see.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week and a good weekend in case i cant get back on line.

Take care xx

Mrsjaffabiffa · 29/03/2007 18:39

Hmmmmmmmmm after talking to you earlier AM, I'd have to agree, it's a tough one. All just a bit of fun though, so I don't think we should panic about it.

Have a good hol! Get off of the laptop and go sightseeing. FGS.

Evening all,

oh largegandt am devastated re your kk!I was looking forward to giving you a real treat... O Well you will just have to imagine what they were like.Wouldnt bother going to get the parcel when you eventually get back however as they may have gone a bit funny by then-though they were in a Tupperware so you never know!
Hope you get to Plym ok..have emailed you on your other address to see where you want the cheque sent to..
Lovely TYG!You are such a dear...

Thanks for that address Befnal...

Had a horrible argument with the manager of the service from hell who is now back from leave and somewhat resentful of all the changes that have been made for the better in her abscence. She had a proper go at me this afternoon, said I was unprofessional and that she finds me 'difficult', because I dared to ask her a question whilst she was in a meeting-a question which i needed the answer to to avert yet another complaint about the service.I am very angry and upset, not least because she could see that I was upset and I didnt want to give her the satisfaction really..FFS,I have spent the last three weeks working like an idiot trying to sort her failing service out, whilst running my own and she has the gall to say Im unprofessional..I know I shoudnt be worried by her as she is widely regarded as being insane but its really got to me for some reason..
Then to top it off it took me 3 hours to get home by which time dd was knackered and screaming and childminder was looking a bit fatigued..so it seems no one happy with me today!

Will feel better after a bit of a sleep I think-hopefully things will look brighter in the morning..Am buying my secret stork present tomorrow anyway so a bit of lovely shopping to look forward to..Plus have just bought self a pair of shoes for £15 only off ASOS.com..So thats soothed me a bit...

Ruddy woman..Will be thinking about it all weekend now..9 working days to go and Im out of there..keep thinking of that Scoot..9 working days..

Hope everyone else is well today?

Night all.

MKG · 29/03/2007 22:50

Hey all,

I'm doing better today, but still not too thrilled with dh

I feel better because everyone is telling me that I'm right, and that's good enough for me. As long as people think that h is an idiot I'm ok.

Still thrilled that I lost 3 pounds though. Am thinking that sitting on my ass and eating oreo cookies is a great diet and am considering writing a book about it. Wonder if I can keep the trend going.

cinnamontam · 29/03/2007 23:43

Evening all - still at work but leaving soon. April 27th can't come quick enough!!!

MKG at your H

Scoot - sorry you had such a shit day. You must be absolutely gagging to get out of there

Pebble - a pink one! WHOO HOOO

Attended my first ante-natal class this morning - an NHS one. Didn't hear anything I hadn't really read either on Mumsnet or elsewhere on the internet or in books but hopefully will meet some nice Mum's out of it.

Wishing everyone a peaceful nights sleep

Night xx tam

Lwatkins · 30/03/2007 00:19

Hello all scrummy mummy's

Just a quick post before I go to bed - have the entire Sharpe boxset to get through! Needs must an all that jazz. Having a fab time, so amazing being at home again. I miss them all so much but when I come home I realise that I actually miss them all 1000x more than I realsied!

No chance to catch up and judging by the ammount of posts doubt I ever will lol. But guessing no babies yet which if great news. My little sister has finally hit the terrible teens stage at the ripe old age of 13. God I'm gonna kill her. Love her, but gonna kill her! My poor parents - one dd to cope with when they're all teenage angst and attitude, the other dd is very pregnant and hormonal. Throw the two of us in a room and it's not the prettiest of sights! Not my fault you understand, I just get angry at being 32 weeks pregnant having to pick up after a lazy arsed 13 year old. I mean, is it really that hard to hang the towels up, or put the crisp packet in the bin. Or my current fav - we share an en-suite and she never unlocks my side. Which means I then need to trawl my way through that s**t tip of a dump she calls a bedroom tripping over vast quantities of crap and dishes to get to her door, open it and go pee - then get back into my room via the locked door! This at 2 in the morning due to my ever weakening bladder is really starting to make me wanna grind my teeth!

Anyhoo, and I said this would just be a quick one and all I do is moan about sis - sorry!
Hope your all well, babies too. Will get on as soon as I can for gossip update, LW x
