Hi everyone. Sorry I've been MIA since the last thread. I have just come out of the worst experience of my entire life. It's a long story I'm going to shorten it as much as I can.

16/07/17 - bad cramps, bleeding. Rang out of hours gp told to go to a&e possible ectopic. 6 hours in a&E then sent home. A&e then called to go and have a scan at 10pm that night. Get to hospital, then told they don't do scans at night time. Then booked me in to Epu 2 days later on Tuesday.

18/07/17 - epu ultrasound tech says nothing in womb can't rule out ectopic. I start freaking out waiting in the corridor to see the nurse. She then tells me she doesn't think it's ectopic and the pregnancy can be seen in the womb but just a small empty sac at 6+1 weeks. Was told I would either miscarry or baby was too small too be seen. Hcg blood tests done and levels rising. Booked in to Epu 26/07/17.

This morning- go to Epu prepared for no baby just the empty sac.I should be 7+2 today. Thankfully they saw everything straight away yolk, pole and heartbeat! My dates are slightly out and my edd has been changed from the 12/07 to 14/07/18.

Im sorry if this post isnt very coherent ₩(I'm still an emotional wreck!) i have so much to catch up on with everyone. I hope everyone is feeling OK. Flowers

Xxx

Wow OnceUpon that sounds difficult! You must've been worrying. So so pleased all turned out OK.

Great news Blue! I'm really pleased for you Smile fantastic news!

Still waiting for call from gp. My dh has taken dd out for a bit so I can relax/look after dog. I've told him today is a 'yes' day for dd- so sweets from the shop to keep her quiet so I can rest! My blood when I wipe (sorry) but it's brown now. Hopefully that's a good thing.

Flatwhite31 · 26/07/2017 11:04

Oh my goodness @OnceUponaMama, what an ordeal. So pleased you have had a happy ending though. Now, as much as you can, rest, relax and spoil yourself a bit!

TMI alert ladies. I keep reading that constipation is a very common symptom of pregnancy. I, erm, have the opposite, and it's definitely worse in the morning. It's as if I'm getting this instead of vomiting. I'm seeing my GP today (not specifically pregnancy related. I have a history of a heart arrhythmia so am being closely monitored) but I'm not sure whether to bother mentioning it or not. It's also embarrassing, although I need to get used to the fact that a lot of pregnancy related things aren't exactly dignified!

FuzzyOwl · 26/07/2017 11:16

Bizarrely enough I dreamed that my cat brought me a mouse last night stumbly. He really doesn't catch anything, so was clearly counting on my subconscious helping him out.

What a horrible few days OnceUpon but I am really glad there is a happy outcome.

Yes Flat diarrhoea is also a pregnancy sign. With DD1&2 I just alternated between diarrhoea and constipation throughout. It was horrible! I've also never suffered from morning sickness.

stumblymonkeyagain · 26/07/2017 11:22

Glad everything has worked out in the end @OnceUponaMama

I'm having a small portion of what you've been through (no A&E trip or thoughts of ectopic but had the same scan result as you at 6+1).

I'm back for my 7+1 tomorrow to see if something has grown or if it's a miscarriage. Fingers crossed I get a similar result to you but trying not to get my hopes up too much...

ZylaB · 26/07/2017 11:36

SCan fine! Measuring 6+5 when I expected 6+6 but at this stage they're so tiny it's difficult to be accurate. Heartbeat seen too!

Back in two weeks for another scan with the consultant just to check things for me as both my losses were around 8-9 weeks.

Guess I just trundle along until then, but a good start!!

SheSaidHeSaid · 26/07/2017 12:08

God, how worrying OnceUpon. Glad things turned out ok in the end though.

I'm another who unfortunately alternates between constipation and having the shits. The joys of pregnancy, eh. I wonder whether her the constipation is another factor in my bloating, hadn't thought of that until now.

Yay Zyla!

whyhastherumgone · 26/07/2017 12:43

Great news @ZylaB! So happy for you :)

@OnceUponAMama that sounds terrible, I really feel for you - what a nightmare.

@Stumblymonkeyagain that's so tough, I would be exactly the same. Sending unmumsnetty hugs to you and keeping everything crossed for a positive outcome for you tomorrow.

@1000jobstodo glad to hear you haven't had any more bleeding, hope you do get seen by EPU for reassurance, having to wait and see is just the worst.

KerryLeanne84 · 26/07/2017 12:51

Do you mind if I join ladies? I'm 8 weeks (tomorrow!) with my first due at the beginning of March!

We conceived after fertility treatment so I am feeling very anxious about the 12 week scan. I also haven't had any morning sickness apart from one time, but I am getting other symptoms like being tired all the time, only wanting carbs even after cooking a healthy dinner, weird dreams and the dreaded constipation!

Thanks to the fact we conceived via iui, I had a scan at 6 weeks and we saw a teeny heartbeat ❤️

stumblymonkeyagain · 26/07/2017 12:52

Good news @ZylaB!!!

Do any of those who've already got DC know if it's possible to relax at any point in the first 20 weeks? Confused

PleaseStopRaining · 26/07/2017 12:53

I didn't ever relax stumbly. Sorry!

SS81C · 26/07/2017 13:16

Sorry @Stumbly I still wake up in the night and have to check she's breathing! She's nearly 2!

Thinking of you for your scan tomorrow.
@onceuponamama that sounds horrendous but I'm glad it was good news in the end.

whereareyousleep · 26/07/2017 13:33

Nope sorry don't think you ever relax there's always something to worry about

BlueeSpottyTiger · 26/07/2017 13:43

SS81C hehe me too 🙈 and when she sleeps though i rush to her room in the morning to check aswell.
I think once your on the journey to being a mum/are a mum you will always worry about something!!

OnceUponaMama · 26/07/2017 15:16

Stumbley - gosh our circumstances are similar regarding the dates of scans. I know it's hard but don't lose all hope yet. I was devastated last week after the scan. I did tonnes of research and found it could go either way. I found a website called 'when a blighted ovum isnt a blighted ovum' and found that info reassuring(lady didn't see her embryo until 9 weeks). If there was no bleeding etc I was prepared to wait it out until 9 weeks. You really are in limbo now and it's hard. To get through it I tried to keep my mind busy and stayed away from pregnancy related stuff for awhile. I kept up with the prenatal vitamins and healthy eating but I did indulge in treats and that's OK and it is also OK if you need to cry. Ovia sent me the 7 week update on Monday and I lost it and cried so much!
At your scan just go open minded. You have a good chance that it was just too early last week to see anything. Just keep it in your head that women and embryos are different and grow at different rates. Have you been getting any symptoms? Did you get your bloods done to measure hcg levels? If you need more info just ask - I hope you are going through the same situation as me and at the next scan everything will go OK!

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 26/07/2017 15:16

Really pleased for all the recent good scan news on this thread. Smile

I'm pretty sure I did start to relax a good bit once I started feeling DC1 move (around 14/15 weeks? I'm shocked at how much I don't really remember!). Definitely after the anomaly scan I started to relax more. It's true that I was never completely relaxed again (and he's now five and I STILL panic about him!), but it's not been the same constant unknowing worry that very early pregnancy (especially pre-scan and pre-movements) was, for me.

Weirdly this time I am much more relaxed about the whole thing. I'm 5+3, which is really still very early, but I'm honestly just enjoying being pregnant now, whereas last time I was obsessively preparing for the worst at any moment. I'm helped by (so far) having nothing to inspire worry, but that was also true in my first pregnancy.

I've bought some baby clothes, which I would have been way too anxious (or uncharacteristically superstitious) to do at this stage last time.

OnceUponaMama · 26/07/2017 15:19

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I was hoping the worrying would taper off after 12 weeks but it looks like pregnancy/motherhood and worry comes as a package!
Tmi my bowels has been all over the place too! I thought it was just stress but maybe it is just pregnancy stuff!

stumblymonkeyagain · 26/07/2017 16:46

Thanks @OnceUponaMama

I think we've probably been on all the same sites over the past few days! I've also come to the conclusion that it seems to be about 50/50 as to the outcome at the second scan.

Didn't get my bloods taken as my first scan was private.

I'm still having symptoms and no bleeding so that is making me hopeful, that being said I know people have had mmc with symptoms so who knows!

1000jobstodo · 26/07/2017 16:47

No way onceupon I think you'll worry until they're in adulthood. Mine is 3 and I struggle not to 'helicopter parent'. I really have to force myself to let her climb things etc. Also even on a good night your body never relaxes enough to sleep deeply!
But it's really the most amazing thing, so it's worth it. I've invested in a good under eye concealer!

Gp called me back after I got referral to epu. I've got to wait until Friday lunchtime. Difficult to wait! More brown bleeding with something else but it didn't look like my worst fear type something. Sorry, don't want to distress anyone.

Another here with unpredictable bowels!
I smelt a perfectly fine smell earlier- roast dinner and did the biggest heave I've ever done.
That's a good sign, right?

OnceUponaMama · 26/07/2017 17:40

Stumbley - I think having symptoms is a great sign! From other ladies experiences on forums... I got the impression that those with symptoms generally saw more at their scan compared with those who had lost their sickness, breast pain etc.

Plus today... I saw three nurses and it was one of the first questions asked by all of them. First nurse wrote it in my file also that I was getting symptoms (nausea) no bleeding or pain since the last scan.

X

OnceUponaMama · 26/07/2017 17:42

Girls - my next step is the booking appt. Did this take place at home, gp or at hospital for you?

whereareyousleep · 26/07/2017 17:48

My booking appointment is at the children's centre.

Poochieblue · 26/07/2017 17:57

Hey ladies,
Had my reassurance scan at the epu this morning. We were sat there that long waiting I think they'd actually forgot me - when I went and explained that I needed to pee so bad I was in agony they couldn't apologise enough and told me I could go as long as I carried on drinking afterwards. Then Sod's law it was only 10 mins till I was called in!! 😳
She could see the sac initially and that it was In the right place (1st concern) but she sent me out to drink more and wait till I was basically in pain again because she couldn't see anything in the sac. When I went back in though she saw the heartbeat. She measured me at 6+4 and lmp had me at 7+1 but tbf my cycles varied between 27 & 31 days so totally feasible

My booking in appt is the 17th Aug and is at my GP's but had I been at their sister clinic it would have been at home so it really does depend I think.

Also booked my 12wk scan today. Nearly made the error of booking it for while DH is away but managed to get it for the day before he goes but it's the 5th Sept which is FOREVER away!!
Really am seriously considering booking a private one for about 8/9 weeks but DH wouldn't be impressed I don't think

Another one for dodgy bowels here as well, it's one extreme to the other and the memory of going "normally" is fast fading!! X

Flatwhite31 · 26/07/2017 18:09

Great news @Poochieblue. Poor you re the bladder situation! Holding it in is the worst!

@OnceUponaMama, my booking a appointment will be at my GP surgery, which is handy as our local hospital parking is awful! My GP surgery is only a 5 min walk away.
