Me too DancingUnicorn!

OrangeCloud18 · 22/07/2017 12:35

I'm the 24 year old Grin
I am going to try to find some classes around me as it's just OH and me here. All my family is in France, OH's family is about 3hrs drive away from us and my best friends are in Edinburgh and Austria...

Excited1103 · 22/07/2017 12:49

Congratulations MrsLoz!

Flatwhite31 · 22/07/2017 12:50

I'm going to look into NCT, but it all feels a bit premature at the moment, so will wait until I know everything is (hopefully!) ok.

How's the sickness today @OrangeCloud18? My nausea has been quite a bit better today after a long sleep. It definitely correlates with the amount of sleep I get!

LaSurprise · 22/07/2017 12:50

OrangeCloud18 whereabouts roughly in the country are you?

Excited1103 · 22/07/2017 12:52

My friends near here have older kids or no kids. My partner knows a lot more people in the area, but it would be nice to make new friends around here. I guess NCT is easier because they force you to do it, so you don't have to step up and sparkle on your own.

OrangeCloud18 · 22/07/2017 12:55

Flat I stayed in bed until 11am Blush but I have not thrown up yet Grin
I feel quite nauseous though and about to get some lunch, not sure how that is going to work...

LaSurprise I am in the South

mrskitty15 · 22/07/2017 12:56

We did NCT with our first but I am not sure we will bother with this one. We didn't really get much out of it, I am still in touch with a couple of the girls but they are quite cliquey (like being back at school) and I can't really be bothered with all that. The birth preparation was really detailed but I ended up with a C Section so it was mostly irrelevant for us. We might look for an NCT alternative though as we may be relocating before DC2 arrives (all being well)

NorthernBelly · 22/07/2017 13:06

I can really recommend NCT from my experience. There were 8 of us who would meet up almost every day while we were on mat leave. I still meet two of them regularly who've become good friends and we all meet up for nights out about once a month. It's great to have others going through the same as you and company. The blokes meet up too at the pub about once a month. We also had joint first and second birthday parties. It's the luck of the draw though I guess with who you get on your course. We were all in our mid - late thirties and got on quite well. I also did a hypno birthing course which was great for keeping relaxing during the birth, it really worked. But I also think it stressed me out beforehand as I had be induced and the course had been very focused on keeping everything natural and standing up for your right to say no to inductions etc. so I spent quite a few days being very stubborn with the medical staff when I wish I'd just gone with the flow. Anyway I digress. One of my NCT friends is pregnant again at mo so I will have some company on mat leave this time, and two of my NCT friends didn't go back to work. With a toddler in tow though it's not going to be the relaxing year off with coffee and cake that I had last time!

Flatwhite31 · 22/07/2017 13:06

Meant to say that's great news @MrsLoz. What a relief for you! Are they able to scan abdominally at 7 + 5?

OrangeCloud18 · 22/07/2017 13:10

Flat They should because when I had my scan I was 6 weeks (we thought I was 8weeks then) and we saw the heartbeat.

MrsLoz · 22/07/2017 13:28

@flatwhite31 yes it was an abdominal scan. I didn't even think to drink anything before I went but apparently my womb points forward so the scan was quite clear and she said that should make future scans clear as well.

ZylaB · 22/07/2017 13:36

Nausea has turned into actual being sick over the last couple of days, it concerns my 2 year old daughter but I'm so happy about it! i might not be in a few weeks of course lol.
Scan on Wednesday at 6+6

ZylaB · 22/07/2017 13:39

And I've felt so terrible today DH has taken our daughter out so I can just stay in bed, so tired!

Excited1103 · 22/07/2017 13:43

I've been sooooo tired and today I can stay in bed, so I got up for omelette and now I'm snuggled back in with a book and a lemon hot drink, while listening to the rain and squealing downstairs as my partner shows our cleaner the dirt he's cleaning off the kitchen ceiling (we just moved house and he's cleaning before painting). He's telling her I have flu and I'm expected to lurk in bed all day so that I can be lively this evening with his parents instead of wanting my bed by 9. So I have two people simultaneously cleaning my house while I lie about in bed, this has to be Peak Lazy and I feel like the luckiest woman in the world right now.

whyhastherumgone · 22/07/2017 13:48

@Excited1103 amazing! You should be a life coach haha

Actually jealous of everyone wth nausea and sickness Hmm as i don't seem to have any yet - am 5w +1 today. Hoping i actually get a few more symptoms so i feel pregnant but may well regret that in the coming weeks!

DancingUnicorn · 22/07/2017 13:51

Rum I was really anxious, but I've just hit 8 weeks and I'm feeling quite a lot more nauseous, I'm suddenly floored by exhaustion and my boobs seem to have doubled in size overnight! I understand how hard it is, but try not to worry too much.

Excited that sounds like bliss! I'm also about to go back to bed I think!

Excited1103 · 22/07/2017 14:17

Yeah, everyone should get in bed. Chill times. Although my book is Irvine Welsh, so people are taking drugs, which doesn't feel appropriate.

whyhastherumgone · 22/07/2017 14:31

Thanks @DancingUnicorn :) that helps. I think I'm just nervous because I didn't end up with many symptoms last time and everything ended at 6 weeks - but to be fair I didn't have any symptoms from 4-6 weeks either so there wasn't really a correlation if I think about it properly. I am tired and have tender boobs, and have gone off eggs, so I do have a couple. I really shouldn't wish sickness upon myself! haha.

I discovered alcohol free Prosecco last night - a friend recommended it earlier in the week and it arrived last night - IT ACTUALLY TASTES LIKE PROSECCO. www.drydrinker.com/shop/scavi-ray-prosecco-00-1-x-750ml?gclid=Cj0KCQjw78vLBRCZARIsACr4cxyn5ekNX5oPp_hQahe6F5YW3Rsj7anTV-4r8n-IaDKEjmCr3qT73_AaApj3EALw_wcB

Tiberius12 · 22/07/2017 14:46

I've not been on for a few days and just found this new thread. I feel really sick and am absolutely shattered, and my DH is working all weekend leaving me to look after the toddler, I think she will be watching far too much peppa.
Talking about NCT classes it's worth seeing if you get offered any free 1s first by your midwife. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was offered an ante-natal class which was run by health visitors and midwives, it ran for 6 weeks and didn't cost a penny. And from talking to friends who did NCT the course content was pretty similar. I still see some of the other ladies from the course almost every week.

ZylaB · 22/07/2017 15:24

I met my best friend at NCT 😁

Excited1103 · 22/07/2017 15:31

That site looks good @wherehastherumgone thanks, they have craft beer too. I think I'll order some once the Mikkeller is in, their normal craft beer is lovely.

SheSaidHeSaid · 22/07/2017 17:36

I'm going to do an NCT course or a daisy foundation course. If not for the info but for the network of local people. I do have friends with kids, who I'm sure will be around for help and advice, but I think it'll be nice to get to know other parents with babies the same age as mine as well as the fact my close friends don't live in the same town as me.

I'm back in bed now, had a music festival thing in my town's pub. It's like a music festival but on a smaller scale, they go all out and make it a big event. Always planned to only stay for a bit now im preggo but in the end i had to leave as the smell of cigarettes was making me heave (as well as me obviously being worried about passive smoking). I felt a bit precious about it at first but as soon as I said to my DH I was going to make a move he straight away said about the smoke, so at least he's on the same wavelength as me. I've left him there with all our friends but quite glad to be in my bed. Not a bad thing to have an aversion to & must be my body telling me to steer clear of smoke.

I'm just about to get out of bed after a couple of hours napping.

Feeling sick and having what I can only describe as 'nipple daggers', ouch!

We're heading to a Turkish restaurant for dinner for DP's birthday so looking forward to that as my nausea seems to disappear as soon as I eat something...

Excited1103 · 22/07/2017 18:48

Nausea is one of the best pregnancy signs @stumbly, so I hope that's positive. I'm waiting for FIL to review the DIY then off to dinner with the in-laws.
