Welcome to a new space!
I felt the baby move last night....had been getting sharp shooting pains just below my ribs on one side - I couldn't stand so laid down for an hour or so, and then I was entertained. V special isn't it to feel it again?!

Hello everyone!Looks like all the rest of the December babies will be December babies now, although maybe I'm speaking a bit soon.I am amazing myself at my patience at this stage-I certainly was much less so the other times.I think the fact that I have lied to most people and added a week on to my edd has helped-I find I am getting enough negative comments as it is(eg"still here?").I know what you mean about the food messing ,at this point I am a complete slob.Ds told me I was still in my pyjamas on the way to school yesterday (tracksuit legs and dh's t-shirt and fleece).Oh well, not much longer...

georginars · 30/11/2004 14:22

I am so impatient now - due tomorrow but I think that there is no chance at all of that happening. Very proud of myself as just walked a mile and half back from dropping the car at the garage, in the belief that maybe that would get things moving - we'll have to see. Amazed I can still move, I look ridiculous!
well, someone's got to be first - who will it be?

PotPourri · 30/11/2004 18:08

Hi girls. And welcome Bronze. Hopefully you will not be with us for long at all! Poor you.

I am on the pineapple and having a hot curry tonight. Oh it would be bliss if this little one appeared tomorrow on it's due date. Have stopped feeling patient now and just want to see my baby!! Fortnight, I think you are very sensible to tell people it is a week later, as it means you don't feel under pressure to deliver.

Georginars, lol at you saying you look ridiculous walking. I went for a walk yesterday and went past a school at home time - bad idea. I was bumped and prodded and stared at by the little 'uns as I tried to waddle past. I think they have never seen such a big fat pregnant lady before!

Am going to try to seduce (lol) DH - well, force him into some action more like. The midwife told me today to have long walks, hot curries and lots of sex. When I told her DH was not so keen on passionate exploits she said I need to tell him it's his duty and he should look at it as a prescription!

Have you tried Clary Sage oil Bronze? It gives me stronger Braxton Hicks, but as you can see - no delivered baby yet. Walking also gives stronger BHs.

Honeybunny, I heard that you need to nipple tweak for HOURS to get any effect. Haven't tried this, but I think I might if nothing happens tomorrow. What do you do exactly? - and doesn't it get pretty painful after hours of it..?

Will be watching this thread closely, between all my labour inducing tactics. Chin up chicks - adn Bronze - hope you have a lovely baby to tell us about very soon (hugs)

Nimme · 30/11/2004 18:14

You must be getting fed up Bronze - welcome.

I still have a million things to do and no amount of rushing around seems to bring baby on. Okay am only due on Sunday but DD1 was 2 weeks early. Had curry and red wine last night and now onto chocolate - from that point of view would quite like to be done with pregnancy. Cannot wait until I can have a huge piece of blue cheese - in fact think I'll buy it in anticipation.....

Otherwise the weekend would be fab - or even early next week. DH is getting impatient as he has some travelling to do between now and christmas and meetings he can't arrange. Tough! He has said he might actually take some paternity leave over christmas - now that would be nice.

Good luck to everyone who due - and everybody else too.

BeachedWhale · 30/11/2004 18:58

Can't believe it's Dec tomorrow at last. Just wanted to say good luck and thinking of you to everyone who is due in the next few days. Sending you all good labour vibes.

I've still got 4 weeks to go and I have to say I've had enough. Have v.sore ribs at the moment as babe is still so high. No where near engaged according to doctor today. I'm all organised for Xmas which is an odd feeling as I'm usually a last minute kind of gal. The only problem is where to be on Xmas day. Would love to go to my parents who will look after us really well and would love to see the DS's but they live 2 hours away so it could be tricky if I haven't popped by then.
DH keeps giving me dates on which it would be good/bad to give birth on...ie bad to give birth on days when he has an Xmas party or lunch or the rugby to go to. I've said I'll do my best but will secretly be eating curry, pineapple and raspberry leaf.
I just want to get to next week to see DS's in their first nativity play then I'll be ready.

redshoes · 30/11/2004 19:52

I know what you all mean about having enough...I had a scan today, I am 36 + 6 , and they estimate the baby to be 8lb 4oz and 40cm already. I am dreading how big it will be when it arrives - especially as my last was 2 weeks late! (and 9lb 11oz).
On the positive side they couldn't find the fibroid they found at 20 weeks...

Nimme · 30/11/2004 20:28

redshoes - yes I am getting worried about size too. DD was 8lb 4oz at when born at 38 weeks. This one isn't looking much smaller...

Ronniebaby · 30/11/2004 22:27

So does eating pineapple work then.

I really just want out now, I have morning sickness back with vengenance, and wind in the form of burping like you wouldnt believe.

I'm not due til 17th, I keep telling it the 4th or the 7th would be nice, as we have a row of numbrs then

My b/day falls in the 5th (may)
DS is the 6th (aug)

so this could be 4th or 7th

Dont want it either side of DH as his is 24th (April) dont want 23rd or 25th thanks.

Oh please more ideas on bringing on labours PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

redshoes · 01/12/2004 09:41

Nimme will be sending labour vibes to you this weekend...
What kind of birth are we all planning/hoping for? And what are people doing with their older kids whilst in labour? AND are your older kids getting presents from the baby'?

Ronniebaby · 01/12/2004 12:49

Redshoes - DS will go to the outlaws if & when bump(Roo) starts to put in an appearance.

And yes bump(Roo) had bought its older brother a few small xmas pressies

Also santa has got some pressies for bump(Roo) tooo

Nimme - labour vibes on their way this weekend for you

hana · 01/12/2004 13:10

redshoes - we've bought dd a dressing up outfit from the baby......she should love it! Also have a sock ( empty right now) for the baby, but planning on putting a few babygrow, a rattle, diapers that sort of thing inside for dd to unwrap of course! DD has already bought a little minin Po to match her big Po for the baby (awwwwwww)

So it's December now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lots and lots of luck to those due now for a fantastic labour and birth!

scubamum2b · 01/12/2004 18:19

Last night had a lot of discomfort and pain (though not signs of labour). If it had not subided I would have given the midwife a ring to check everything was alright.
The BH are a lot stronger with the tightening and just doing a few things in town seems to takes forever and leaves me knackered.

Ideally 12th would be a good date as that would mean I can attend the social dos that have been organised, 25th (2wks overdue & Xmas day) a big no no (looking forward to being just scubamum - the countdown is now into days.....)

redshoes · 01/12/2004 19:34

scubamum2b - I'm having lots of tightening too - v. uncomfortable.
Hana and Ronniebaby - will you distribute the xmas pressies when the baby comes or at xmas?

redshoes · 01/12/2004 19:35

Hana - mini Po -awww

Ronnietinselbaby · 01/12/2004 22:18

Redshoes, xmas pressies are for xmas, but I have bought a pressie from baby to DS as a hello brother pressie, and have bought Bump (Roo) baby grows as a birth pressie & a small cute teddy for in hospital

Ronnietinselbaby · 01/12/2004 22:20

I'm with you guys, my tightening has defo been worse, I get a BH, then wait see if I get another, they are normally about 1.5 hours apart so I dont worry, but (Roo) has defo slowed down with the moving, its not every 10 mins all day, but every sort of hour/2

scubamum2b · 02/12/2004 09:31

got a couple of nursing bras the other day - bits I picked up on the fitting - round the back should fit on tightest hook and should be able to put your clench fist into the bra cup when worn (allowing room for breast size to increase when the milk comes in and for all those breast pads

As for Xmas pressies, 1st child, who I feel we have bought so much for ayway. Don't think I have got the energy to go around town looking for stuff for DH who does know what he wants (except a baby). Plus I feel that Xmas this year is not a big deal as we better have other things to be more concerned about by then.

All the best everyone, but especially for Potpourri, Georginars, MiniB (past or now due)

hana · 02/12/2004 09:43

oh don't have my nursing bras yet.....had them fitted at Mothercare last time and by the time my milk came in the bras were so so so small (nd of course I had washed them so couldn't return them)

The present for dd from baby isn't a Christmas present, more of a kind of 'hi big sister' sort of thing, but the sock for baby is for Christmas.

Arrrrgh. I want more time!

Hello ladies. Are we all still hanging in there?!

Right, here is my top tip for kick-starting labour, but not sure how practical you will find it to carry it out. When I was heavily pg with dd2, I visited my best friend in hospital as she had just had her second, and had a really good cuddle of her 2 day old little girl, especially a good smell of the baby's head. Next day, my waters broke 8 days early with dd2!! To this day, I maintain that hormones surged into action after close contact with a newborn, especially as with dd3, went overdue by 2 days. So, obvious thing to do is sneak into maternity wards of local hospital and find yourself a newborn.

Good luck!!

RonnieTinselBaby · 02/12/2004 13:13

Lillymum, - excellent, does that count if baby is about 2-3 months old, a friend is coming with the baby today.

What does pineapple supposed to do anyway?????

georginars · 02/12/2004 13:28

aaargh, still here, don't think this baby is going anywhere soon. Induction would be on about Dec 10th and I REALLY don't want that to happen. So maybe I'll try and hang around the maternity ward, or hope that one of my NCT friends does the business ASAP - there are 3 of us who are all late now - and gatecrash her room. Am bored with telling people that nothing has happened, wish I'd been sensible enough to tell everyone it was due a week later!
Still, quite enjoying lying on the sofa watching telly and DVDs.
Good luck everyone! there must be some action soon. Maybe from Bronze?

biglips · 02/12/2004 13:58

ronnie - what have you bought for your son to give to baby as a hiya little brother/sister? as when i came home from hossy with my baba, my fiance's daughter (aged 5) was really upset as she was feeling jealous. We bought a giant eeyore and a giant tigger. Daughter gave eeyore to baba to say hiya little sister and baba gave tigger to daughter to say hiya big sister and that really settled the daughter. (well i think of her as my own and she lives with her mum).

honeybunny · 02/12/2004 14:07

Thought I'd be enjoying my final day of childfree bliss this morning. Feet up, paper, bit of tele, a choccy or 2...... dream on. ds1 with perf eardrum and ear infection and ds2 with chest infection/with poss ear infection. Been up since 5am with ds2 and am feeling thoroughly put out and pee-ed off. Now just made ds2 cry by telling him to go away and play. ds1 is still waiting for me to wipe his bottom and have a strong urge myself to just run away!! Now there's the phone. *&%$$%£^!!!!! Bloody telesales. Now there's something I really would round up in a field and bomb the lot of.

RonnieTinselBaby · 02/12/2004 16:05

WEll been to AN today and MW said baby is defo head down, but not engaged, we'll have to do something about that

Bump (Roo) has bought brother a Power Rangers figure to complete his set, which I know DS will love. DS has got for baby a soft ball that has a rattle inside.

Baby was orignally due onthe 23rd Dec, but after scan I was told 17th Dec, so when people ask me when its due I simply say anytime between 17th & xmas day, so they'll stop asking "havent you had it yet???" hopefully

redshoedreindeer · 02/12/2004 17:43

Lilymum
when I had my first baby my newborn nephew was staying with us (with his parents) and the midwives swore that that theory is true! So off to the nearest maternity ward it is then...
