Welcome to a new space!
I felt the baby move last night....had been getting sharp shooting pains just below my ribs on one side - I couldn't stand so laid down for an hour or so, and then I was entertained. V special isn't it to feel it again?!

I'm still waiting to feel any kicks, but as the scan showed plenty of movement I'm not worried, just impatient! I'm sure I was feeling it at this stage last time. As I already have one of each I find myself constantly comparing this pregnancy with the others to try and guess the sex. I won't have a 20 week scan so we'll have to wait and see. We did find out the first time, but with dd the hospital policy was not to tell the sex,and it drove me mad waiting. And to be honest the "surprise" at the birth didn't do anything for me. But I'm happy enough to wait this time- the plan is to actually find out ourselves by looking!

honeybunny · 19/07/2004 19:07

Just had my final scan and everything is great! And its a GIRL!!! Cant wait to go out and buy lots of pink and flowery things. We're ecstatic!

Nimme · 19/07/2004 19:36

Honeybunny - how exciting. So two girls so far - any more out there who know (and will tell)???

Having 21 week scan next week - so will have the girl bit confirmed - or perhaps a boy with a very small penis......

Ronniebaby · 22/07/2004 21:22

I have my 19 weeks scan tomorrow (Fri) but I aint finding out what the sex is, so soz.

Looking forward to seeing the little blighter who keeps kicking hell out of me

ggglimpopo - tee hee sweetie, my due date is 17th Dec.

My scan, well, the stubborn little thing lay with its head deep in my pelvis and refused to move, so I got a great view of it's spine, looks very very good.

I saw 2 feet with toes, and 2 hands (couldnt count the fingers mind you), 2 arms, they measure the fema bone, and arm, head etc, and the sonographer said that is one healthy baby, which by the way decided to extend FULLY it's leg, so we could see this ont he screen, DH got to listen to the heartbeat for the first time, and bump decided to wave loads.

After with the Nurse, she said my test results (triple blood) came back as DS 1 in 4200 (much higher number than DS, he was 1 in 2000), and the SB was very low risk.

All the other blood came back negative, so I'm Aids etc free, never thought for one moment that I was but you never know.

The only concern was my maternal grandmother & great grandmother had diabetes late in life, but after discussion, as my mother is 71 and doesnt have it, she is one of 7 kids and the other six dont have it, my sister or niece dont have it, he said he is not worried about me.

If my mother or aunts had it, I would need to go at 28 weeks for a gestation diabetes test. But I dont.

Otherwise, all is fine, baby is kicking the hell out of me, and I'm well in myself.

Hope you all are well.

ggglimpopo - Well my dates actually makes me due the 23rd December, according to period cycle etc, but scan puts me a week earlier on the 17th, so who know's it'll come when its ready, so anytime between 17th & new year eh!!!.

Altho I keep telling bump it has to come on the 16th December as this is half way between father outlaw (13th) & my mother (20th)

Hope you are well, is all the medical care different in France???

Nimme · 26/07/2004 11:05

Hi Ronniebaby and ggglimpopo (where is everybody else?)

Well it is official - I am HUGE. Picking DD up from b-day party yesterday these were the comments: due in October?, sure there's only 1 in there? etc. And saw my GP the other day who is also pg - she is a full 8 weeks ahead of me but looks much smaller. I am now terrified this is going to a whopper of a child. Have 21 week scan today - will be asking them to confirm quantity of baby/ies and sizing. Cross fingers.

Jimjams · 26/07/2004 11:12

No worried Nimme- I'm 17 weeks and am also enormous. everyone keeps going on about twins/triplets. Can see the baby kicking as well occasionally if its near the top.

Nimme · 26/07/2004 11:18

Jimjams - must be because is not our first?? But then saw other mother yesterday expecting no 3 any day and she looks great. Doesn't help my weight doesn't seem to be confined to stick out bump.

Went to gym this morning and pushed a bit harder so perhaps it's for a reason?!

scubamum2b · 26/07/2004 11:42

nimme - a friend said like his wife I am 'compact' saying that I have not as much aminotic fluid making me bigger. I was getting the 'more than 1 comments' in the early stages as I grew big quickly then my belly has not increased that much in the last 6wks, giving me reassurance that it must be just one. Enjoy the scan.

Anyway baby will be having his/her first picture taken on Weds at the scan.

Rbaby - I keep telling mine not to be 2 wks late as I don't want to give birth on Xmas day.

Looking forward in one respect to seeing friends 2&a bit mths old baby tomorrow, but on other hand it will be another reality of what we are letting ourselves in for

Anyone else started buying stuff yet - at weekend got pram/buggy/car seat which was reduced a bit in the sales. Should hopefully get my glider chair soon....

Jimjams · 26/07/2004 11:58

I always get huge in pregnancy- even my first. However now by number 3 all my stomach muscles have disappeared. I'm always all out front which is partly why I look so big I think.

Ronniebaby · 26/07/2004 21:27

scubamum2b - I know the feeling my original due date was the 23rd Dec, so I kept saying before you must come on the 23rd or before.

Now I just tell it to come on the 16th and be done

Nimme - I was gonna ask the same question, all the other mums seem to have disppeared. Well I'm still here posting and boring the pants off everyone.

Jimjams - I know I am bigger now than I was with DS1, altho at the moment I can still disguise it with my jacket as its a baggy one.

Nimme · 27/07/2004 09:35

Hi all (3-4 of us)

Well had scan yesterday. Of course it turned out to be sonographer with personality chip missing. According to her all is fine and baby is right size for dates (phew!). The bad part about that is that must mean I am piling on the fat elsewhere. Oh must book sadistic personal trainer for January (right after I have managed to get dressed before lunch, caught up with sleep, and and......)

Willy still absent so still a girl.

Dates stand. Had secretely hoped she would say I must have got it all wrong cos baby big and would be earlier. As I was charting I know the dates are accurate so can now only hope we are on time - or if really good obedient baby early by a week or two. DD was early by 2 weeks (if dates back then were accurate, which I doubt) so there's a little hope. Could of course be late and end up very close to christmas....

Will be intersting to see how many actually get a christmas baby

Ronniebaby - I do the boring the pants bit on this thread

Jimjams · 27/07/2004 11:46

Well I hope I don't get a xmas baby. My birthday is xmas day!

PotPourri · 27/07/2004 13:27

I'm here chicks. Just loitering really. Everything is going fine. My bump is getting really big now. My skin feels really stretched so I think the idea that I would avoid stretch marks was off the wall. Oh well. Baby is kicking properly now. The other day DH put his hadn on my tummy adn it kicked right into his palm. He was delighted.

Who said that you don't need to eat more when you are pregnant - rubbish! I am starving all the time, yet sometimes have no appetite at all (But hungry - strange!). I have discovered that I have a thing about raw carrots and am on at least 3 a day!! I also have a thing about the rapidly decreasing Cadbury's Roses tin in my cupboard. It could be worse I suppose.

I had a 1/4 glass of wine last night and it was nice. The smell no longer makes me feel sick - so I must be just fine! My sister gave me loads of baby stuff, so nothing to buy really. People keep offerign to get me things though, and think I am strange that I don't want everything 'new'. I just don't see the point of wasting money on things that I already have perfectly good versions of. Just trying to get sorted on what I DO need so that I can tell my big family stuff that they can get us. I'm going for cloth nappies, so that is keeping me busy investigating those.

Keep smiling girls. ANd keep the news coming about scans and knowing the sex - neither of which I am having/finding out - so I can enjoy it with you!!

lilymum · 27/07/2004 13:58

I'm here too! Just gone 18 weeks, but not going to have any scans. Nausea finally gone - hurrah! - but still sleepwalking most of the time (must keep remembering to take my iron). Finally had to concede that jeans no longer fit. I have been wearing them belted under the tum, but after mysterious tummy cramps while watching Harry Potter on DVD last night and scoffing ice-cream, traced it to jeans strangling my poor bump, so it's all hanging out now. I always get huge when preggers, but it's usually all amniotic fluid, with reasonable sized baby.

Baby been kicking away for over a week now, which is lovely, and gentle and fluttery at the moment.

Midwife said uterus is right height for dates, so guess I'm still heading for December 27, but hoping for about the 18th, so as to be safely out of hospital before Christmas, with my feet up, watching someone else do all the cooking etc.

Anyone thinking about names yet? Am not bothering even looking at boys names, as I'm convinced this is another girl (no 4).

Nimme · 27/07/2004 21:18

Lilymum - I don't ever want to meet you! . If you were still in jeans until now you must be tiny. I already feel as if I've been wearing maternity clothes forever!

I never felt as if the baby kicked - more like being prodded. Or perhaps as if someone is rummaging around in there. Also think my bladder has turned into "the" place to prod. Argh....

Ronniebaby · 27/07/2004 21:52

Nimme - I'll fight you for the boring the pants off everyone

Lilymum - I'm with Nimme, you must be tiny, so I agree I dont wanna meet you either

Potpourri - I'm with you on the drink front I had a glass (shant say how big ) of wine on Sunday, and ooohhhh it was heaven.

Jimjams - are you Jesus

scubamum2b · 28/07/2004 13:13

was suppose to have my scan (1st one) this morning. DH takes 1/2 day holiday, we turn up at the hospital to find out the days scans has been cancelled due to holiday. I hope he can get time off next wk for the rearranged appointment.

To cut a long story short, apparently letters were sent out 2mths ago, and it looks like the post office has yet again failed to deliver mail to us .

This after still waiting for clear sample results from UTI - one lost, one leaking and would not test, waiting for 3rd one after over 4 wks since original one.

excuse rant, but feeling a bit better

lilymum · 28/07/2004 16:48

Nimme and Ronniebaby - reality of me being in jeans at 18 weeks is that even when not preggers, I have a slight bulge, shall we say, in the abdomen area, so jeans are used to accommodating excess flesh anyway. Wish I could say that I usually resemble Kate Moss, but it ain't so...

Scubamum2be, what a bummer. You don't live anyway near Oxford do you? I do and post office is absolutely awful, things just never turn up.

Ronniebaby · 28/07/2004 21:00

Lilymum - I'll let you off then, I was in a 12 or 14 jeans, but neither of those fit anymore, so I aint bothering.

Scuba - what a bummer about your scan, hope all goes well when you finally get it. Hospital arent they bloody typical. And the post office, dont get me started.

Nimme · 28/07/2004 21:06

Ronniebaby - that's it, we'll have to fight now - dawn by the big oak tree?

Lilymum - I'm sorry I'm not sure I buy that one (normally my line)

Potpourri - I bought a huge bar of cadbury's (for DH cos he likes) and have eaten almost all of it. Seems I can't just leave it. Before being pg I could leave all that well alone and sometimes skipped meals or replaced with Slimfast. No chance of that - I need to eat all the time. Had more choc tonight as fruit bowl empty.

Scubamum - sorry to hear about scan. We had scan on Monday and DH just nipped to the loo when sonographer called us. I asked her if we could just wait for 1 min or so. No no we had to start straight away and he wouldn't miss much. Well I was getting ratty as I virtually had to bully DH to take half day off to attend scan in the first place - only for him to miss it because of his bladder and personality-chip-missing sonographer. Didn't miss much in the end - luckily for all involved.

I used to be emotional pg but I think I have become angry pg. Want to have a go at everybody recently. Bullied a man in a BMW to say thank you to me after I reversed back down a narrow street to let him go. Boy it felt good
