Welcome to a new space!
I felt the baby move last night....had been getting sharp shooting pains just below my ribs on one side - I couldn't stand so laid down for an hour or so, and then I was entertained. V special isn't it to feel it again?!

It's so reassuring to hear that lots of you are feeling sick again.... sorry not very kind sentiment but has put my mind at rest.
I have a whole month of work to go yet in theory but feeling so run down this week have had to work at home so far and really not acheived much. Difficult as cover not due to start until early December..... must raise myself for one last effort.... Commute is getting very tedious though.
Baby really busy and seems to move more when I talk to it. Did not ask about what it would be as wanted a surprise but as I actually went shopping this weekend realised that it was a bit of a pain having to buy white / cream and yellow..
Guess I could buy the minimum now and have a bit of a spree once baby is here. Please let me know if this is niave.....

honeybunny · 03/11/2004 19:07

Havent posted in ages, busy, busy, busy! Decorating new babes room and making curtains etc. Also just had ds1 b-day and half term to contend with so no time to indulge in mn. Besides, once the kiddies hear the tap tap of the keys they're in here demanding to do one of their cdroms.

Pg going fine. Scan nexr Mon to check exactly where my placenta is as it was low, low last time. Then can book a date for my CS. I've planned everything round the 6/12 so I hope my consultant agrees. Getting lots of braxton hicks lately and baby has finally settled on head down I think. Been swimming lots too so hope my spd will settle quickly post baby.
Been summoned to kiss the kiddies good night, dh actually managed to get home for bathtime tonight....wonders will never cease!

Can also recommend Avent as brill breast bump. Indispensable with dd1. I know it looks a bit off-putting, but if you have any difficulties putting it together, any midwife worth her salt should be able to help assemble it.

House/nursery a pigsty. Dd3 currently in what will be baby's room, but as she's still a baby, this one will have to go next to us for a few months until I can boot dd3 in with her big sisters. Gots lots of digging out of garage/wardrobes/random cupboards to do to locate baby gear.

Thanks Hana, the sickness is nothing like it was at the start. I feel nauseous if I get too tired, and wasn't helped by the fact that I had a tummy bug a couple of weeks ago, but loads better than it was.

Sympathies to all with SPD/pelvic pain. Thank goodness not too long to go!!

scubamum2b · 04/11/2004 11:15

My DH treated me to a pampering day at the spa on Tuesday for a b'day/Xmas pressie - very relaxed Tues night and even with 10hrs sleep I still was tired yesterday sleeping for an hr or so in the afternoon.

lilymum - I have mentioned to my MW several times re pain in groin but has said it is baby trapping a nerve. Anyway I mentioned this to the Physio this week as it is hurting moer and getting clicky hips - she thought it sounded like a mild SPD (thank goodness it is not severe given what I have read about it). I am assuming a water birth would help ease the pain?

I was given avent breast pump by SIL who could not breastfeed. Does look a bit scary but will be good that DH can do a few feeds especially if I can go out for a few drinks

The pile of things for the hospital bag seems to be growing enourmously. Bought a pk of 100 breastpads last week thinking that would last ages but having read you could be (at the start) breastfeeding 10 times a day and should change the pads after each feed that means the box will only last 5 days!

Sympathies to those with sickness, did not realise it could come back - (not boasting here) but I have been lucky not to have had suffered with sickness at all (so far!)

I didn't realise it had been so long since I'd checked in.I've been very busy-amazingly my nesting instinct has kicked in and I've been cooking, cleaning and tidying like a madwoman for the past few weeks. It's very unlike me,and I didn't actually have any sign of it with my other 2 pregnancies, but at least the house is clean now. Then again I have a whole month to go,so I'll probably revert to type and spend the last few weeks lazing around in squalor, eating chocolate.Even though I'm due on the 6th according to the scan,I've been well late before,so I reckon about the 12th.I've been getting a lot of pain in my right side, under my ribs,if I sit, stand or walk for any length of time-I think I'm running out of room for the babe-help!

Hey again all,

Isn't it getting exciting now! Had shock of my life when i came home from work yesterday and other half was in the spare room smashing up bits of old furniture we don't need and having a general tidy round - his nesting instict has obviously kicked in, just waiting for mine now! He even made me promise not to do anything in there today as he wants to help! Quite scary!

Woke up this morning with a really sore throat so think i may have infection, i'll have to go to the doctors tomorrow cuz it's one thing after another for me! I'm not normally a sicky person either! LOL!

I have seven weeks on Saturday (thats xmas day also!) and boy am i counting down the minutes! Bet Those of you with weeks are getting anxious now!

Last day at work tomorrow and ante-natal classes start in the afternoon so will see how they turn out to be!

Keep well!

Ronniebaby · 04/11/2004 14:44

VH - hope you are ok.

Just come back from AN, and altho I like to see the MW and dread the Doc, I saw the Doc today and all was fine.

I am 34 wks and only measuring 31, but bump is in transverse position (lying across) so Doc said she was pleased with my progress, bump is a nice shape, and Hearbeat was good and strong, she had a feel about my tum and got loads of kicks for that (tee hee).

Hope everyone is well.

Gosh 6 weeks and counting, and only about 3 - 3.5 weeks til I stop working.

hana · 05/11/2004 00:30

scubamum2be - I have 300 breastpads awaiting me in a drawer somewhere!.......Mothercare had a 3 for 2 deal a few weeks back. I was forever changing them (and dropping them in odd places like cafes and beside friend's sofas.....) But the J&J ones are v v nice

MiniB · 05/11/2004 14:33

Hi all,

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering from sickness and feeling grotty. I'm now 36 weeks & really enjoying being at home - not working

The NCT classes have been excellent. DH has almost finished the nursery, just a little bit left to do. I too have been busy christmas shopping, cleaning & planning!

I have 2 questions: When should I pack the hospital bag? Also how long do you leave it before you buy nursing bras?

scubamum2b · 05/11/2004 15:39

hana: so you are ok for 15days . Is it actually worth buying the washable ones or are they just too much work?

miniB : nursing bras should be left til 2wks before baby is due (still think John Lewis is best place to get measured and for them to find a suitable fitting bra, even if they don't have the most sexy range going)

Stuff for hospital, has been gradually collected in one place, not all stuff there though. I'm 35wks and thought OMG a week ago when a friend said his wife gave birth at 34wks with their first.

hana · 05/11/2004 18:42

minib - I had them fitted about a week before and by the time my 'milk came in' they were incredibly small, and ended up getting a few sizes bigger. I complained to Mothercare (of course had washed them before wearing) and they refused to let me return them. Was so pleased to have something that fit that I didn't really bother taking it too far. John Lewis were great ( that's where I went afterwords) but do they still sell them? They don't do the mat clothes anymore

OP posts:
hana · 05/11/2004 18:44

oh scubamum - I also had some cloth ones, but they weren't great ones - the disposable ones didn't leak like the cloth ones, but I'm sure there are some nice cloth ones with a strong absorbant backing thing. anyone come across any?
V v embarrassing to have wet patches around nipples!! But prepare for it!

OP posts:
ginger29 · 05/11/2004 20:37

Hi all,
Breast Pads and pumps! another thing I haven't thought about. Still have 2 weeks left at work but am only doing 4 day weeks. Was off work week before last with horrible flu - v annoying as I have felt really well up to now. Getting v tired and sleeping quite badly now. Everyone sounds so organised compared to me. Will have to do better when mat leave starts.

MiniB · 06/11/2004 16:04

Thanks for the advice hana & scubamum2b, I think I will try John Lewis for bras. Did you bother with sleep bras?

Nimme · 07/11/2004 08:26

ggg - that's how I feel - pg forever. I am very ready to have this baby but my house is not. Re-did the white gooey seal around the bath yesterday - never again. Made a complete mess of it but at least can't see any mould now. MIL is coming to look after DD for a couple of hours today (DH away) so I can finish painting the baby room. Will be bullying builders to send me plumber and carpenter tomorrow so I can finish of the bathroom tomorrow - need to install my new Ikea sink which I'm very impressed with. Another carpenter coming today to start building bookcases for living room. Still so much to do....

My NCT group has started popping and I'm getting worried I might not cram it all in.

MiniB - I'm 36 weeks and will be packing my bag this week (DD came at 38 weeks and I like to feel ready)

So nice when house builder free and clean - can then get all pressies out of cupboards and start wrapping (DH complaining of shopping bags galore on his jeans etc)

Lots of BH, pressure on pelvis and twinges - especially when trying to do too much.

Any bets on who will be the first??

Jimjams · 07/11/2004 14:13

oh god I haven't done anything- just assuming this one will go to term. We have too much stuff coming up with ds1- we're trying to get him into a special school- keep your fingers crossed for us on 24th November please. Anyway upshot is I spend half my time trying to contact people in the LEA/school etc and forget to think about baby things. Haven't found the baby stuff- still not sure what I have and what needs to be bought. have finally managed to rein in decorator who will hopefully be doing the babys room this week (was meant to be doing it weeks ago). Haven't bught a single xmas present- feeling very unorganised.

hana · 07/11/2004 14:34

oh gggg - pregnant in 2005, I don't wannna still be pregnant then!! But could very well be a possibility......
minib - I didn't buy sleep bras but did sleep in my nursing bras. I leaked an awful lot in the first weeks and I hated sleeping in a bra, but hated changing sheets every day far more
nimme - you sound soooo organised! and rather busy, bathroom sealant, builders, painting.... where are you getting your energy from? LOL at your presents on the jeans - I seem to have presents everywhere too, part of me wants to wrap them up and have it done, but it just isn't Christmassy yet and it's much nicer to wrap them with the tree up and decorated and carols on the radio.....don't you think?!?!

jimjams - internet shopping!!! I've done a few orders with different companies, and loads are doing the 3 for 2 offers as well. I've been reading about your school placement troubles - lots of luck for the end of this month. I've been teaching in a ss for 7 years now and I'd never go back to mainstream. I love the kids I teach (mix of SLD and MLD in secondary) - well most of them - I've always thought that ss were a well kept secret within the school system here, we have lot s of support and really small class sizes. I don't think I could cope in a class of 30 plus anymore. Anyways, lots of luck, I hope he gets his place.

Jimjams · 07/11/2004 17:49

Thanks hana- there's one school we really really want (it has fantastic things like a sand and water room apparently- which I can't begin to visualise but apparently you kind of walk through it - sort of sensory stuff ds1 needs
), the head has his own fanclub "oh he's lovely" is the most common thing I hear about him- and he is PECS mad- absolutely ideal for ds1. Trouble is ds1 goes to panel for 2 schools (both SLD) and then we get told whether there are places. I have to ring tomorrow to see if we can express a preference as we don't want the other school (for various reasons). I think there are places at the one we want so I hope it will be straightforward but feel very out of control (we're not even allowed to go and look at the schools until it's been to panel in case there aren't any spaces). Anyway in all of this poor old number 3 gets forgotton. We haven't even really discussed names yet!

You're right about internet shopping- I have some catalogues and will have to start ordering I think!

Ronniebaby · 07/11/2004 18:46

Hiya ladies - bags almost packed just a few things that will go in last minute like the camera.

I used disposable pads, much easier when you out and about to just chuck in a nappy bag/bin etc.

Hana - I'm with you I hate sleeping in bra's so I just used to sleep in the nursing bra, but did buy loads so I could keep washin and changing, and had black as well as white depending on what I was wearing

Nursery has been painted, this was done ages ago, as I had some spare time, my DS keeps going in there and telling everyone this is where baby will sleep. (ahww).

Hope all is well, I know the feeling, v tired, feeling fat, being beaten up inside, all day/night long. (Ouch)

DS was on time, I'm hoping this one will be early, (fingers crossed) or on time, preferably not late .

I've stopped shopping now for the moment, my mother gave me some money as she will be away over xmas, and said when we have (roo) and know what the sex is we can buy a load of clothes .

Nimme - waffle, waffle, waffle

lilymum · 07/11/2004 21:35

Scubamum2be - don't know about water births and SPD - never had one. A friend of mine did have very bad SPD with her 2nd pregnancy and had to see the hospital physios to measure how far apart she could comfortably put her legs, in case she had an epidural and couldn't feel what would be safe for her. In the event, she had a section - an emergency one, unrelated to the SPD.

vimptohead - lucky you, wish I could galvanize my dh into action when it comes to decluttering the house. Tackled the kitchen on Friday, emptying cupboards and chucking out of date stuff in the bin and dh very unappreciative of my efforts.

Definitely think it's worth paying a bit more for the comfortable disposable breastpads, especially the ones which are shaped to fit. Bit embarrassing when the cheaper ones itch, and rustle when you move, and slip around in your bra, giving very odd shaped boobs.

Boots used to do good cloth breastpads, which didn't leak. Used them with dd1 over five years ago, but seem to remember that when I had dd2 couldn't find them in-store anymore.

lilymum · 07/11/2004 21:37

Hmm, dh just read that bit about him over my shoulder and says I am treacherous...

PotPourri · 08/11/2004 09:07

Hi all. Most of you sound very organised. I still have all the baby stuff sitting waiting for me when I finish work (Friday). I am forcing myself to wait as knowing my luck I will be weeks late and have nothing to do. I see the midwife on Monday, so I am going to go through my Birth Plan - this includes a request for a water birth. I hope they are able to accomodate that (assuming the pool is free when it all kicks off). Anyone else looking to have a water birth?

I am getting really uncomfortable now, feeling fat and clicky and sore all the time now. I've started on the Raspberry leaf tea tablets and have DH prepared for lots of you know what in the coming weeks to see if we can move things along. I reckon a couple of weeks early would suit me fine, the baby would be ok at that late stage, so I'm not being too selfish am I?? Just don't know how much longer I can go on with this lack of sleep and feeling like a whale. Mind you, the sleep isn't going to get much better once the little one is here... Boo hoo, in a bad mood today - could you have guessed?

Good news is that my sister is coming to visit this weekend and so we can do lots of baby stuff, and she can also help me with my obsessive cleaning, which has had to be seriously cut back due to my aches and pains etc. Oh, I CANT WAIT to finish work now!!!

redshoes · 08/11/2004 09:41

I sent dh to get baby stuff from loft and can't find it!!! trauma! must have got lost in our recent move...but how? I am gutted...
PP I am sure I will be late too - was 2 weeks late with my third...so preparing dh for a 'dry' xmas!! V. bad planning these xmas-time babies!Wish I could have some 'maternity leave' from my older children!
