16 week appointment has been urine, BP and Doppler both times - not weighed and no more bloods. Bloods for us are at booking and for screening at 12 week scan.

rasmusklump · 13/09/2017 13:43

I'll be meeting my midwife for the first time next week at 19 weeks. Booked in at my old GP but after moving I've had to transfer to a new GP and midwife so I do hope she's nice!

Finally had my official dating scan yesterday which put me at 18 weeks exactly so my EDD is 13th February.

Is anyone else considering a homebirth? This is my third baby and both my deliveries have been really fast and easy. Plus my partner doesn't drive so I'm thinking it may be a better choice. Still if something does go wrong it just doesn't bear thinking about does it?

rasmusklump · 13/09/2017 13:43

And welcome Kitty! What a lovely surprise at your scan :)

Pinkandwhite · 13/09/2017 20:49

Welcome Kitty! That must have been a real surprise! I did get to hear my baby's heartbeat at my 16 week. No bloods or being weighed at mine though.

lookatthemoon · 13/09/2017 21:39

Welcome Kitty - what a lovely surprise for you!

Rasmus - how far are you from a hospital if something does go wrong? And does your midwide drive? Jealous of your 'quick and easy' births - sounds like you might be an ideal homebirth candidate! Smile

KittyKat73 · 14/09/2017 08:59

Thanks ladies hoping I get to hear wee jellybeans heart beating away !

Rasmus hope you have another quick and easy birth! if there is no issues or concerns then hopefully you will be fine for a home birth.

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 14/09/2017 11:06

Welcome newbies. I hope you're all doing well.

Melody85 - I didn't manage to do the GNR Sad. This is quite outing to anyone who knows me IRL, but on Saturday we had a scan and found that I had haemorrhaged just above my cervix (hence my recent bleeding). I was still going to do the GNR (but really slowly jogging/walking) and was so excited on Saturday evening, then I was sick all through the night and was just in no fit state on Sunday. It's completely melodramatic, but I was so gutted I spent all of Sunday on the sofa in tears. Just really sucks as I had trained really hard and was ready to prove I could do it Sad. Onwards and upwards I guess. Just even more gutted as I won't be able to do the GNR in 2018 if I've had a C section in February (to be fair, I imagine it would be pretty tough with a normal birth!).

How is everyone else getting on? Lots of 16 week appointments and 20 week scans!

TriJo · 14/09/2017 12:09

Coffee Please don't feel bad - you have your whole life to run, this is such a short time in the grand scheme of things. The GNR is on every year and there are plenty of other really good halfs too. It's an awful feeling to miss something you've worked hard for though and I really feel for you.

I can only say about life after a straightforward vaginal birth, but I was able to do the Swim Serpentine 1 mile swim and a super sprint distance triathlon when my son was 6 months old last year (events that would take roughly 40-50 minutes so running wise roughly equivalent to an 8-10k) and I ran the London marathon when he was 13 months with around 8-9 months being a bit of a turning point in terms of how my body felt when working out. Your core will feel noodly for the first few months anyway so even with the simplest of births a half 7 months postpartum is quite ambitious.

lookatthemoon · 14/09/2017 20:20

Oh that sucks Coffee! But well done on all your training so far. It will

lookatthemoon · 14/09/2017 20:30

Sorry - accidentally hit post! Your training will pay off eventually on the other side. as I understand it recovery from an elective section 'can' be much quicker than emcs. I know it must be so disappointing for you though.

In other sorry exercise news, I've just come back from the physio who suggests I stop running and pretty much any of my usual exercise as she is concerned I might be developing pelvic instability. And I had signed up for a 5k race on Sunday so now I am unsure if I should just skip it or still do it (gently) as my farewell run ...

pretzelpieces · 14/09/2017 23:06

Just realised this thread is into the 900s!

Oh coffee sorry to hear that. I hope you're not feeling too bad about it now. It's a shame.

My 20 week scan is tomorrow and I'm nervous. Eeeep. Hoping to find out the sex prediction (we have one DD so far).

Loxy4527 · 15/09/2017 08:18

Aw coffee sorry to hear you didn't get to do the run. The important thing is you listened to your body and did what's best for you and baby, it's one of many sacrifices we'll all have to make as mothers. Like others have said, you'll be able to do it again in the future xxx

rasmusklump · 15/09/2017 13:05

Coffee, can we just talk about what a hero you are for even just training for the GNR while pregnant?! How awesome are you?!

I totally get why you'd feel crushed, I really do. So you have a cry as much as you need to Flowers but also remember just training is really really brilliant.

Look, I'm about 40 mins from the hospital if I do need to go. Will have a good chat with my midwife when I meet her next week - hope she's nice!

Not knowing the gender is tormenting me. Must keep strong! 20 week scan is a week today, looking forward to seeing the baby again!

lookatthemoon · 15/09/2017 16:19

Do we think wine tasting is ok? I'll be about 26 weeks at the time of the event - obvs don't plan on drinking the wine but presume it is ok to taste and spit?

TriJo · 15/09/2017 16:27

I wouldn't see a problem with tasting and spitting, hell there probably wouldn't be an issue if you did drink a glass. You might get a few funny looks from people though!

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 16/09/2017 12:13

Awww you lot have actually made me feel quite tearful (Can I blame it on hormones?). You're so nice and have made me feel loads better!

I still feel pretty sh*tty almost a week on but know I did the right thing. DH did it and reminded me just how crowded it is. Even with my 'baby on board' badge I could have easily been shoved about or pushed over.

Tri - That's really interesting. I think our bodies take quite some time to recover, even with a straightforward vaginal delivery. I'm now 11 months PP (and 17.5 weeks pregnant!) and think things started working again (slowly) around 8 months PP. It's hard to know how things will be, as an ELCS is supposedly less brutal...but my body may struggle more for having 2 C-sections in 16 months. Whatever happens, I think you're probably right that 7 months is too ambitious.

Serious respect for you doing the London Marathon full stop, let alone 13 months PP! That's incredible. Do you plan to do it again or was it a 'once in a lifetime' event?

Look - What have you decided to do about the 5k tomorrow? I totally understand your dilemma. Thinking with my head, I'm going to tell you to miss it and focus on staying well (but thinking with my heart I say do it very very very very gently!).

As for the wine tasting, it probably depends who you're going with. If they're ok with you spitting everything I'm sure it's fine, but if they're the types to expect you to be necking drinks, maybe give it a miss. Do they know you're pregnant?

Pretzel - How did the scan go? Do you know what sex your baby is? Hope all went well!

Rasmus - Are you waiting until birth to find out? I really don't know how people do that. Serious respect! Hope the scan went well Smile.

TriJo · 16/09/2017 13:33

Coffee It was my 4th marathon and I almost certainly will do another at some point, long training runs are lovely headspace. Very hard to justify the time away from little ones though for marathon training, 3 hours away feels like a lot at a time so I'll probably stick to halfs and shorter until little ones are school age. Did Parkrun with the buggy this morning though :)

Not sure if I'll do London again as it's such a pain to get into, I hate fundraising so the charity route isn't an option for me and it took me 6 tries for a ballot place. I'll probably do Dublin again at some stage though, my home town race and my mum would be delighted to be on small people duty!

rasmusklump · 16/09/2017 15:28

With the wine tasting I don't see any problem with it but agree you're bound to get Hmm looks by some people! If you can bare that go for it and have a great time :)

Coffee I'm going to try really hard not to find out! I knew with both my other babies and would really like a surprise. But not being able to buy the clothes I like is killing me 😬

minniemouseears · 17/09/2017 09:13

Hi ladies can I join you. I am almost 17 wks with 6th baby. Due 27th Feb but will have elcs so will have bubs by then. I currently have a 9 yr old 8yr old 5 yr old twins and a 2 year old boss and yes I'm mad as a hatter😣

lookatthemoon · 17/09/2017 14:44

Welcome Minnie!

I'll go for the wine tasting and will put up with the funny looks! Pregnant me can get very stroppy so I should be able for it.

Ran my 5k race this morn - so gently I was practically with the fun run people but was actually really happy with my time and if this does end up being my last run then I'm happy with that being the last one. I felt pretty comfy doing it though so would be great if I could keep going for a little while yet ...

Kaffiene · 17/09/2017 15:35

Hi ladies
Can I join in? I am 14 weeks with an official EDD of 17th March but DD was born at 34 weeks so I think Feb 2018 is more realistic. Hoping to avoid 28th Feb as it's DD1 and DHs birthdays!!
I have only skimmed the last page, will read the whole thread later.
coffee & trijo Sorry you are struggling with your sports. I can totally sympathise, I spent most of yesterday crying as I was supposed to be doing Swim Serpentine and my wetsuit is too tight and it was just too cold to feel safe swimming skins. I have had to cancel so many things over the next few months :-( I know it will be worth it but this preganancy was a lovely surprise and every time I think I have my head round it something else comes up. Hormones aren't helping obviously

rasmusklump · 17/09/2017 20:18

Big hello to Minnie and Kaffiene!

Wow number 6? Christmas at yours must be amazing! I'm one of 6 and I love having a big family.

Still in awe of all you runners and swimmers!

I've had to cave and buy maternity clothes today. New Look have quite a big selection and a lot of it is on Sale at the moment if anyone is looking!

pretzelpieces · 17/09/2017 23:32

Thanks coffee! Scan went well and we found out we are having a second girl. Lovely. Glad you're feeling better about the race.

Minnie wow, I'm a bit jealous of your big family. Congratulations! We are stopping at 2 because it's so expensive where we live but I'd have loved 3 or 4. Not that there isn't part of me that will be relieved to see the end of sleepless nights...

kaffiene welcome!

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 18/09/2017 12:35

Awww well don't Look, glad it went well.

Welcome newbies! Kaffiene I'm sorry to hear about your swim. Yes -pregnancy does put a stop to a lot of fun things, but I promise it will be worth it at the end :) Remember that your hormones can play havoc throughout pregnancy and after birth, so don't feel bad if you feel a little all over the place!

Wow, 6 children! That's amazing. How lucky! I'd also love a big family (would love 4 children), but like you Pretzel I worry about the cost. It's not so much when they're young, but when they're teenagers/in their twenties, as I'd love to be able to help them out with uni fees (which will be insane by then) and house deposits and things like that.

laelti · 19/09/2017 10:28

Hi, can't remember if I ever posted on this thread in the early days but thought I would try to join in now if I can!

First baby is due on 3rd Feb, anomaly scan yesterday showed a very wriggly little boy (after much debate over if we were going to find out the sex!).

Also in awe of the runners... I tried it and gave up and wasn't even pregnant!
