Birdiebump · 21/03/2007 21:30

Oooh that sounded a bit off! Didn't mean it to - just want a baaaby!! (Preferably not mine just yet).

Eddas · 21/03/2007 21:32

Can't remember who said it but i think i'll need a removal van for my labour bag with the bottles, formula(can't take ready made so a whold bloody tin has to come in), my stuff, baby bits(got some in bluse and pink as don't knwo the sex), pillows and god knows what else There won't be enough room for me, dh and the mw in the delivery room!!! And the annoying thing is that providing everything goes smoothly i'll be kicked out about 20mins after giving birth as they've closed half the ward!!!!! Ah well!!

Come on babies it is utter maddness that no one has popped yet. Do you think they are making as wait and they'll all come out on the same day?!

My mw booked my last appointment today at 41 weeks for a sweep, told her I hoped not to see her again. Also she said that unlike with dd they now wait 12-14 days after the due date to induce. As 12 days is a saturday that means waiting 14 and that makes it the 16th in my head the baby would be out by then even with an induction as dd was exactly 2 weeks late and induced. Fingers crossed I won't be that long

WestCountryLass · 21/03/2007 21:34

Welcome to the newcomers

I can't believe there have been over 150 messages since I posted last I can't possibly keep up with everyone i'm afraid.

Any news from Oooogs or 1B3, hope they are OK???

I had my 39 week appointment today as am due next Wednesday. My midwife said she did not expect to see me as she felt sure I would have had baby by now what with my other two being early and baby being engaged at 37 weeks.

I also got told it would be any day now, which is stating the bleedin' obvious given am now 39 weeks....though she did give me the leaflet on care in late pregnancy, sweeps and the like - never thought I would even need to think about that!!!!

Birdiebump · 21/03/2007 21:34

SOSPL - My DH loses it with DS2 (about the same age as Becky I think) more than he should, although to be fair, DS2 has been a real PITA for about the last 2 months - don't know what has gotten in to him.

Funnily enough, tonight it was my turn to lose it with poor little DS, although we both calmed down nice and quickly. I usually feed back to DH by saying things like we should both try to keep our cool with DS2 and it doesn't do any good to lose control etc. I find if I emphasise that I do it as well (although not nearly as much as DH) he takes the comments much better, and has actually been trying to keep a lid on it, despite frequent severe provocation....

Pesha · 21/03/2007 21:34

Fingers crossed for you mammyjo

And lol at like buses birdiebump Lets hope these babies are the same

Pesha · 21/03/2007 21:40

Eddas can you take some of the individual sachets of formula powder? I used to have them when dc were older, they were sachets for an 8oz feed which is obviously too much for a newborn but have a feeling they make smaller ones. Would save taking a whole tin though.

Eddas · 21/03/2007 21:48

Pesha, i will see if i can find them, very good idea. One less thing to fit in my truck

Pesha · 21/03/2007 21:49

sma gold sachets

GirtWaspbElly · 21/03/2007 21:54

Hiya all the new people - they're all completely bonkers here I can tell you.
Duchesse - comforting hug from here too, compelety understand the not wanting to join us once they've started arriving though. Best of luck going forward though hon.
Can't remember who - but Irritable uterus doesn't sound good I lurked on NatalieJanes' thread in childbirth section - sounds like it can really put you through it for quite some time - hang on in there!
Can't belive we're lasting this long into March without any newborns!
Had read about turning a baby with light/noise: so if not the maglite then stick the radio on down there too! A quick way to tell the lie is the smooth side of your bump is the spine - I think!
ML is fab although am trying to limit myself on MN as much as poss - the day just disappears otherwise. Don't seemt to be taking it much easier than before though - have only managed one post-lunch nap (lifesaver when I do - have SO much more patience)
Am definately waddling/rolling now, (imagine trying to walk a straight line ona channel Ferry in really lumpy seas) I need to walk a bit more than I am, I think, to encourage bubba down (can still get knees togethr which suggsests to me not very engaged)
Am positive that this 'un'll be late as DS was, but the reality is that I have 15 days to go before Official DD! 2 weeks and 1 day - yuk! So much still to do - oh well none of it desperate. May even think about packing/putting togetehr a 'just in case' hospital bag, sometime, maybe tomorrow ....

Eddas · 21/03/2007 21:57

Thanks, will see if they do any other types. My friend has just swapped from SMA to Aptimal and advised me to use that instead as it's kinder to the babies tummy apparently. Judging by the dodgy colour of her baby's nappy today i'd think she's right!!! LO seemed to be clearing out the SMA remnants, nice I had forgotten the colour of baby's poo when they are on milk only. Sorry if anyone is eating reading this, LOL!!!

Right off to bed to watch the rest of along came polly, night night everyone

Katy44 · 22/03/2007 07:57

Morning everyone,
mammyjo - hope things are still happening for you. Sounds exciting!
Welcome mumcab, when are you due?

liath · 22/03/2007 08:20

Morning!

Another idea for formula would be to take in one of those divided tubs that you can measure individual feeds into, I found them really handy. Aptamil always seemed to suit dd best although I won't forget the transition from breast milk to formula poos in a hurry - bleurgh!

Had quite a good chat with my doula yesterday when she popped over about trying to get BF off to a good start this time. She got on really well with dd, too & it should make a real difference having some help in those early weeks.

SOSPL, how's Becky this morning? DH can be a bit hard on dd too (probably thinks I'm too soft), we've had endless discussions on how best to cope with various behaviours & I don't think he appreciates really how good she is.

Mammyjo, fingers crossed things get going properly for you. Ooggs - hope you're Ok this morning, having an asthma attack when everything is squished by two babies sounds scary. Hope you get some idea about induction too.

geordiemacminx · 22/03/2007 08:39

feeling crappy here - awake ALL night, got up this morning, violently sick all over the bath room...oh and sore tummy... feeling very sorry for myself

Katy44 · 22/03/2007 08:46

gmm, oh no
are you coming down with something? Hope you're feeling better soon and catch up on your sleep

geordiemacminx · 22/03/2007 08:49

honestly dont know... hoping its not the start of anything....

claricebean · 22/03/2007 09:03

gmm - maybe it's your body 'clearing out' in preparation!!!!

CaptainDippy · 22/03/2007 09:07

Hi - popping in quickly as DD's are playing nicely together for a change - How long it will last is to be seen .......

Nothing much to say / report here - Hoping stuff starts properly for you soon mammyjo - > I cannot believe there are no babies on this thread yet either - esp with two sets of twins and a lot of people who have had previous early arrivals!!! The race is on .....

[[hugs] to all - and xxxx

flumppootle · 22/03/2007 09:29

Hi all

to feeling so rough GMM, thats awful. Hope that you feel better soon.

OOggs, an asthma attack sounds so scary for you wishing you a speedy recovery and then induction for you

Good to hear that you are okay 1B3, did you manage to get some sleep? I am in awe of you and ooggs carrying twins.

Liath and mmk, I have been meaning to say this for a while but keep forgetting. You have both mentioned previous bf experiences. My big sister tried to bf her first but things didn't work out for her and dd so she switched to bottles at about six weeks. With the correct advice and support she then went on to succesfully BF another dd and ds for six months each and was as proud as punch of herself!

Sorry haven't mentioned anyone else, there is too much to take in at the moment! Am totally with those on trying not to lose patience with other los/dhs so hard when at this stage.
Love hearing about those who are coming up to their due date, its SO exciting!!!

I keep waking up each morning with the most painful lower back and hips, makes me walk like a geriatric - this is normal though isn't it??????

EllieK · 22/03/2007 09:35

yes flump, it's normal
or at least, i hope it is cos I feel like an OAP too

OP posts:
Katy44 · 22/03/2007 09:37

Yes, I feel like an OAP too knee and hip joints ache all the time, back aches when I've been overdoing it.
Not sure I'm going to last through next week at work - at least I can count down the hours

flumppootle · 22/03/2007 09:41

Thanks Ellie and Katy, oh the elegance of these last few weeks eh???

EllieK · 22/03/2007 09:43

ooh yes! my new nickname at work is jemima, shame it's as in puddleduck rather than khan

OP posts:
Katy44 · 22/03/2007 09:44

I was PMSL at miabt's description of feeling like a cockroach on the sofa - I have to get DH to push me up until I get into a position when I can haul myself to my feet.
If I sit on the beanbag, the only way to get off it is to roll so I'm lying on the floor and then pull myslef up from there!

flumppootle · 22/03/2007 09:45

LOL - We are a bunch of geriatric weebles!

Halle · 22/03/2007 09:46

Hi everyone

Thanks for the feedback. The groups I have run the style is very much just putting up a question like: ? What concerns do you have about becoming a mum? and listing those up on a board and then discussing them and if neccessary adding a few extra's. I then have a workbook that includes tips from other mums and things to discuss with dh. Anyway if anyone is curious have a look at lifebeyondpregnancy.googlepages.com/
Thanks for all your comments and goodluck for the birth (any everything that follows)!
