teainbed do you know any particular exercises for the diastasis? Mine is already 4 fingers wide and I've got another month of growing!

barnes I've had three days in PJs while DH has been at a stag do and the rest and solitude have done wonders for my feelings towards him!

Northernexile · 17/04/2017 13:49

Afternoon everyone! Hope you are all enjoying the bank holiday. I'm just back from a long dog walk up the fields behind our house (DDs not back from sleepover yet), and I definitely have more lung capacity than a couple of weeks ago, so baby must have dropped.
Sorry to hear about your fall raspberry, but glad scan went OK. Hope all goes well for you today mightymouse- sounds like you are in good hands though and glad there is someone with you.
I really should be doing something productive now as I'm having a baby this week (!), but I just cannot be bothered!

Northernexile · 17/04/2017 13:52

I have my fitbit on a normal setting for sleep and I'm currently getting between 5 and 6 hours apparently- the rest is awake/restless.

Badgerbird · 17/04/2017 13:54

mighty not surprised you feel scared Flowers Glad you have your sister there and they are monitoring you closely keeping you and baby safe.

rise can you bend over to release back with legs wide apart to accommodate bump? Or a wide stance downward dog yoga pose feels really good on the back :)

tea it's so funny to think of you there with your gorgeous baby now and no big bump. How are you feeling?

That is a goooood looking hill autumn :) Laughing at the thought of you sparring with a baby on board teaspoon!

barnes that sounds horrid, you poor thing :( When I'm like that I try really hard to step outside of myself and go "it's just the fecking preggo hormones. I mustn't take it too seriously." I also explain this to DH. Can you get out fir a walk or swim to clear your mind and mood? Flowers

Been for a lovely woodland walk with friend this morning followed by MW appointment. Love my MW, she's great but will just have to see who I get on the day.

Now more painting of woodwork in the nursery!

Enjoy last few hours of bank hol everyone!

EsmesBees · 17/04/2017 14:02

Those keen on getting back to exercise, have a look whether there are buggyfit classes locally. You get to do some exercise, get some fresh air with the baby and meet some other local new mums.

ShiniBerry · 17/04/2017 14:25

Gosh Mighty sounds scary but glad you are being taken care of and that you have your sister with you.

Oh no Raspberry falling down the stairs while hugely pregnant is my biggest fear! Glad you and bubs are OK!

Barnes i agree it's likely just hormones and exhaustion, don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure your DH understands.

Lots of Cake and Brew to all the ladies having a tough time today!

jennymac31 · 17/04/2017 14:46

Have any of you noticed that your appetite has ramped up? I can't seem to stop eating at the moment.

RasperryInAMelon · 17/04/2017 14:58

As I say, scan was fine, little lady is currently around 5lb8 which is perfect - they think we're looking at approx. 8lb 8oz. However because of the feeling of reduced movement they still want me in every other day for CTG and are booking an appointment to discuss possible early induction 😔

@mightymouse76 pleased that they're keeping an eye on you, try not to be too scared though - you're in the best place 💐

@1004Rise reduced priced Easter eggs may have made it into my shopping basket alongside the KFC I picked up on the way home from the hospital 🙈

@peasandquiet placenta is on the right and spine on the left which explains the big hard lump that keeps presenting itself and that the reduced movement where her feet, legs and hands are behind the placenta

@Barnes79 massive hugs coming your way. I know what you mean, I've been a bit snappy with DH and can't quite put my finger on why. Perhaps a cup of tea, slice of cake and a nice relaxing bath?

@PeachIcedT thanks for that! I've nabbed a screenshot to keep hold of that! 👌🏻

@EsmesBees snap with the eating issues! I just about managed a piece of chicken and a few chips before I was full - makes me feel so wasteful but I'll come back to it later 🙈

@coxsorangepippin stupid question - how are you measuring how bad it is?

savagehk · 17/04/2017 15:16

Another snappy person here!

Mighty good luck, hope all ok and you get let out soon.

Re layers, we tried the one extra layer malarky and had a sweating baby at under a week old. That was about when we stopped with vests (and it was mid December and we don't normally have the house hot at all, 18-20 or so...). Remember overheating is more of a danger than cold. Cold babies will let you know, warm ones get sleepy. So see how yours turns out!

coxsorangepippin · 17/04/2017 15:20

raspberry I see how many fingers fit in it width-wise, just below my belly button. I don't know how usual it is to be able to feel it during pregnancy rather than only after the birth. Of course it will change size over the next month and again once baby is out and not stretching it - it was just funny to notice it gradually develop about a month ago!

yellowismyfavourite · 17/04/2017 15:37

mighty that sounds really scary. Glad you are being looked after and your sister is with you
raspberry glad scan went well. Also good they are still keeping an eye on you. Anterior placentas are a pain sometimes.

I had a horrible nightmare last night about the baby dying and having a still birth... woke up in a real state and really frightened... It has taken DH several hours today to convince me it's a dream not a premonition!!! I hate these crazy dreams... can't wait for them to stop.

Good luck to those at IKEA today... I had to sit in a queue to get into B and Q!

FoxMulder · 17/04/2017 15:56

I am clearly not going to make it to Ikea today.

1004Rise · 17/04/2017 16:48

@FoxMulder I think that's a blessing in disguise Wink

1004Rise · 17/04/2017 17:38

@Badgerbird I've been trying to do down dog, but I think my back is so curved to manage my offset centre of gravity I can't get it to go straight iyswim. I have a feeling that something like happy baby would help but I'm not sure if it's allowed and I don't have a yoga teacher to ask! Child's pose worked for a while but now my bump is on the floor too soon Blush Pregnant things they don't warn you about #563!

@Barnes79 Definitely hormones I go from crying with laughter to just crying to being irrationally pissed off. I have to have several talking to myself moments when DH hasn't put a spoon in the dishwasher, and he's the tidy one!! Blush

@RasperryInAMelon well done on cheap Easter eggs, you know if you buy chocolate at a reduced price the calories are reduced by the same amount Grin Can you take someone with you to the appointment to talk about induction options, it's always good to have a second set of ears and to be able to asks the "what if we do nothing" question.

@EsmesBees I think the ticking clock must be a fairly common one, I bet it won't occur to you this time round Wink

mrspage1985 · 17/04/2017 17:52

I survived Ikea!!!!
Managed to get a lovely nursery chair, rug for lounge and some meatballs GrinGrin

Now just in the bath catching up on posts and phsycing myself up for week ahead!

uptown8617 · 17/04/2017 18:11

@1004Rise Ive been doing happy baby at yoga and my teacher hasn't said there's anything wrong with it. It's not a pregnancy specific class but she's been really good and telling me what I can and can't do. It's getting harder to reach hold of my feet but once you're in it it's alright!

Rustler74 · 17/04/2017 19:09

@mrspage1985 was it a good trip? We obviously had meatballs and bought a rather large Pax wardrobe as opposed to one of the smaller children's wardrobes. I have to thank @savagehk for that.
Ouch @RasperryInAMelon !
@mightymouse76 Hurray for the lovely sister to stay with you! Glad you're in the right space but o can imagine you were really worried x
@Barnes79 I don't think it's much else than being fed up with all the less attractive sides of pregnancy, and most particularly lack of sleep. I've also noticed a shorter temper etc and some snappy comments which I immediately regret. Don't worry dear just see what he tries to do for you and you'll reconsider.

OP posts:
Badgerbird · 17/04/2017 19:43

Hahaha rise I know what you mean!! No warnings! Happy baby pose was in a third trimester prenatal YouTube video I did last week so prob safe although like uptown says I found it a little tricky. Yep I rest my head on fist in child's pose now to accommodate bump. Maybe puppy pose? I find that a nice liberating stretch. Good luck, hope you find something!

teainbed · 17/04/2017 19:52

@Barnes79 you sound absolutely spent! Just try to take it easy I know that's easier said than done.

@coxsorangepippin it's all the exercises you think would help like crunches that you shouldn't be doing! Ideally you'd see a woman's health physio, you can get a referral after the birth.

@Badgerbird it's funny seeing him here! I do not miss the bump at all and though physically there's a long way to go I definitely feel better now he's out. Midwife visit was fine today. DS has a touch of jaundice but she wasn't concerned as he is alert, ending well, weeing etc.

@RasperryInAMelon good news on the scan. How would you feel about induction?

@yellowismyfavourite that's one scary sounding dream. Probably reflects the 'normal' anxieties of pregnancy but even so!

teainbed · 17/04/2017 19:52

*feeding well

RasperryInAMelon · 17/04/2017 20:15

@yellowismyfavourite bless you, that sounds like a horrible dream to be having. It's crazy the tricks our minds play on us.

@1004Rise DH will come to the appointment with me next week. I just think it seems a bit unnecessary tbh

@teainbed ultimately whatever has to happen to ensure the safe delivery of DD will happen and that's all I'm interested in. It's just infuriating when up until now I've been low risk and really had my heart set on a water birth.

I've spent the afternoon in bed asleep for the last few hours just woken up and my ankle is so sore 😩

May 2017 #13 the lucky thread
coxsorangepippin · 17/04/2017 20:36

teainbed ah, so carrying on avoiding all the things that cause doming and make the diastasis worse now. Cheers! Hopefully I can carry on with the women's physio I currently see at the hospital.

teainbed · 17/04/2017 20:39

Ouch @RasperryInAMelon that looks very sore! Hope the induction chat is helpful, and I understand where you're coming from.

Keep forgetting to say through the newborn fog, that I was discharged home on Fragmin for 10 days which is an anti-DVT infection given once a day. This was a total surprise to me even as a medical person that I could need something like that. But scored 3 points, for age, high parity (3+ children) and had an epidural. I might go and look for a protocol relating to it for you all. My midwife wasn't surprised and said it was a really common thing now.

Barnes79 · 17/04/2017 20:44

@RasperryInAMelon Wrap some ice/frozen peas in a tea towel and put on your ankle for up to 10 mins at a time. Keep it elevated too if you can and make sure you keep moving it as much as pain allows - circles with your foot, pointing toes/pulling them up towards you etc. Flowers

vanilla8 · 17/04/2017 20:49

Ouch @RasperryInAMelon hope your ankle gets better soon

Amazing @mrspage1985 and @Rustler74 for braving IKEA on a bank holiday, my DH is not one for going to any shop but I have to blackmail him with a trip to IKEA at some point soon as we need to get a chest of drawers for baby's clothes.

So at 34+5 I am so ready for this pregnancy to end, just had such a tired day and keep eating quick and easy food. So agree with those who can't wait to get back to eating their normal diet.

I had a bath last night and it was so hard to get out; think DH is going to have to help me in and out the bath soon!
