Fingers crossed all is ok Mighty xx

MissMooMoo I'm so jealous, another 9 days to get through here and literally CANNOT wait, don't know how I am going to drag myself out of bed another 9 days but hopefully it will pass quick. The good point is I have a lot left to do so hopefully the time will pass quite quick when I'm there.

Rustler we're off to IKEA today and same as u I am planning for some meatballs as a reward for making the effort!!

I also feel like I need a dressing baby book - were both quite warm blooded. I plugged the groegg in yesterday and set up in our room to start to get an idea of how hot or cold the room is normally. A comfortable temperature to us was nearer 14, but can manage at 16 as well - we won't be going any warmer than that, or certainly not intentionally!!

Is anyone else looking forward to getting back to a pre baby diet regime? I lost a lot of weight for my wedding last year and haven't put loads on but certainly cannot be bothered currently to meal prep and cook from scratch like I used to. Chicken in a jar sauce is about as much as I can muster. Really looking forward to getting Baby out and then eating a bit healthier and some excersise without pelvis feeling like it's about to collapse.

Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday Monday! 2 weeks till the next bank hol Monday and I wonder how many babies will arrive between now and then! X

RasperryInAMelon · 17/04/2017 11:04

@mightymouse76 hope everything is ok? Stupidly, I was writing a message to you about an hour and a half ago as I was walking down the stairs and fell... cue a giant purple ankle. Thankfully I've now had my scan and everything seems ok - lesson learnt though.

@EsmesBees we're going down the route that we're hoping to move her into her own room as soon as possible and don't have room for a spare bed in the nursery anyway, it's crammed in there as it is.

@MissMooMoo turning those alarms off is the best feeling! 🎉

@1004Rise that's how I'm feeling now - I've changed the sensitivity to normal now so will see what happens tonight I guess

MrsJW15 · 17/04/2017 11:10

Mighty hope you are ok! Ouch Raspberry.

Also don't really know how to dress baby! Vest under things makes sense but then what's the point of the long sleeved vests?

coxsorangepippin · 17/04/2017 11:13

mrspage definitely, I really enjoy(ed) cooking, walking and cycling, and look forward to getting back to them! I'm telling myself not to count on it any time soon though - e.g. I heard SPD can linger if you breastfeed, which I'd like to do if I find it ok.

I am looking longingly at summer fashions in the shops that require a waist, and wondering if I will be in time for any of them at all!

mighty crossing fingers and toes for you, it sounds like you are in the right place.

teainbed · 17/04/2017 11:17

@mrspage1985 meeeeeeeeee! I now have 6 weeks marked in my phone when I can start exercising again! I was pretty fit before this pregnancy and at the weight and shape I wanted to be so can't wait to be back there again. Weighed myself today and only have 11 pounds to lose which I am pleased with. My core is the worst, I have a diastasis recti split (tummy muscles) which I can fix again quite easily with exercise but I am longing to stretch the bits that have been exercised much in recent months. Grin

teainbed · 17/04/2017 11:18

@MrsJW15 long sleeved vests are good with joggers or leggings with a cardi on top for a typical British early summer day!

mightymouse76 · 17/04/2017 11:46

Thanks for the messages everyone

Cervix closed but still brown blood present (sorry TMI). Am being kept in overnight, they say it's just a case of close monitoring and take it an hour at a time. Cannula in and steroid injection given just in case I have a fresh bleed/he has to be delivered. He's breech and making funny shapes today.

Steroids can spike blood sugar in diabetics so we have to test my blood sugars every two hours day and night to check whether I need an insulin IV. Feel bad for anyone sharing the ward with me tonightConfused

I am pretty scared to be honest, but my sister is being amazing, won't leave my bedside, and midwives seem good

@RasperryInAMelon So sorry you fell! Glad scan ok

1004Rise · 17/04/2017 12:04

@coxsorangepippin oooo a waist!! Where did that go! Hmm

@teainbed 11 pounds is good going! Sounds like an achievable target! Is six weeks post birth how long you have to wait before doing exercise? (beyond getting out for a walk with the pram)

At the moment I'll just be happy to be able to bend over to reach the floor, I really want to be able to release my lower back but can't because my bump is in the way

@RasperryInAMelon ouch (you know chocolate is a well known cure for swellingWink )

@mightymouse76 Good that things have settled down for now, and hooray for amazing sister! Hope they let her stay with you for as long as you need Flowers

1004Rise · 17/04/2017 12:06

@Nurse15 hope you had a decent rest overnight and things are still calm

teainbed · 17/04/2017 12:18

You're in the right place @mightymouse76 will be thinking of you. Glad your sister is there with you and you're getting looked after.

EsmesBees · 17/04/2017 12:20

That sounds promising mighty. Good cervix is still closed anyway and your sister is looking after you.

MrsJW long sleeved vests are good under clothes when it's very cold. And I remember using them in a grobag at night. They are also very useful when you have a toddler who likes to remove her nappy as the poppers create a bit of a barrier!

Raspberry good news about the scan. Hopefully you are on for the water birth now.

Autumnsweater · 17/04/2017 12:26

@mightymouse76 good luck, sounds like they are taking good care of you. Bit of a pain between the steroids and blood glucose levels but monitoring the best thing in that situation.

jennymac31 · 17/04/2017 12:26

Afternoon ladies

Decided to take dd to the park and am instantly regretting it. The walk alone to the park has left me in agony with my spd and dd is understandably running around like a crazy banshee (as you would expect when kids are planning in the sunshine). Thankfully dh is here to keep tabs on her.

Hope everything is going OK with you - mightymouse76!

Hope those of you who are making trips to ikea today don't experience too many crowds & enjoy the Swedish meatballs!

Autumnsweater · 17/04/2017 12:31

I cannot WAIT to start exercising properly again. I'm not a crazy fitness person but I do like long walks with the dogs and PGP has limited me so much for several months now. I have been swimming and doing pregnancy Pilates. There's a hill I can see from my living room window that I haven't been up in 2017! Can't wait to get the baby in a sling and get up it!

peasandquiet · 17/04/2017 12:41

Mighty, sounds like there's a good plan in place, every day will make a difference so hopefully he can stay in a little while longer.

For those of you who haven't bought cot/cotbed mattresses yet they are on offer at mothercare this weekend, just got the £190 cot bed mattress for £85. Knew it was worth waiting for an offer on them!

In may/ June one layer should be ok, so a vest and leggings or a sleepsuit. In summer over night I tend to do l/s vest and grow bag, adding a sleepsuit in colder months.

Rasberry that's good about scan, cas baby nestled into your placenta?

Good luck to the Ikea goers! Braver than me!!

Teaspoon74 · 17/04/2017 12:45

Autumn what a beautiful view!! & totally with you!! Have kitted out the garden shed with my punchbag and boxing gear and cannot wait to get back to sparring... not a good idea with a baby on board though Confused

Mighty sounds like you're in the right place - thinking of you!

Rasperry doh! Glad it's just a swollen ankle! And agree re chocolate - known to be good for reducing swelling!

Good luck to all the brave souls heading to IKEA today. We do need some bits but since it's the OHs idea of hell I think I've a better chance of flying to the moon than getting him there today!!!

We've spent the morning hanging up some pictures and are just about to had out to get some hospital bag bits and some shopping - planning on some baking later today.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

Barnes79 · 17/04/2017 12:51

I'm having a bit of a bad weekend (admittedly not quite as bad as mighty, raspberry etc) but needed a rant. Blush

The whole weekend I've been the most grumpy and irritable wife ever. I'm starting to hate the way I've become. Every little thing DH does irritates me, and each hour day I think I'll try to change the way I think and then the first thing he does annoys me. I've barely seen him this entire weekend too as he's been decorating the nursery (I'm not allowed to help as my decorating skills aren't up to his standards) or we've had his parents visiting. At first I thought it was pregnancy-related irritability but I am starting to worry it's a bigger issue but don't really know why. I'm at the stage where I just want to sleep as it's the only way for me to stop being so irritable and snappish and just fed up. Sad

Sorry for the rant.

PeachIcedT · 17/04/2017 12:51

@mightymouse76 sorry to hear you're in hospital, but I'm glad your sister is with you and that the midwives are good. It can't be easy having sugars checked every 2 hours in the night so good support is really important.

@RasperryInAMelon the whole clothing thing confuses me and I just ended up buying a bit of a mix of things to layer up with. I do have some sort of pictorial clothes info page I screenshotted, might be of some use.

We cleared out the nursery yesterday and I just feel SO good about having made space for things as I hate accumulating junk - how I'm going to cope with a toddler's toys all over my living room I will just have to see!

MrsJW15 · 17/04/2017 13:02

Thanks Peach that's helpful! Teainbed my sister's MIL is knitting non-stop for the baby so I will be hoping for lots of cardigan opportunities!

Mighty that sounds scary but good that your sister is there and baby is staying put for now.

Rockyroad17 · 17/04/2017 13:16

I think I remember the midwife saying that they should be wearing an extra layer to whatever you have on. But then be careful of them overheating...

1004Rise · 17/04/2017 13:26

@Rockyroad17 that reminds me of the pfb thread on here a few months ago where a mum was about to go out with her baby and realised they had the same number of layers on. Since the baby looked wrapped up enough she did the only sensible thing and took her coat off HmmGrin That thread had me in stitches for ages.... now I'm just at the point of wondering how many stupid things I'll do!

EsmesBees · 17/04/2017 13:27

Jenny that's exactly what I did. Took DD to feed the ducks and then immediately wondered what on earth I was thinking. She's normally pretty compliant but today was running riot. I'm officially too big and my hips are too sore to run around after a toddler.

Barnes you are probably just exhausted. It's a really emotional and physical time. I'm much more easily annoyed with DH than normal.

Anyone else completely lost their appetite? I get starving but I'm full after a couple of bites at the moment.

Rockyroad17 · 17/04/2017 13:30

Ahahaha @rise that's great.

teainbed · 17/04/2017 13:38

I think 6 weeks is for vaginal deliveries @1004Rise and 8 weeks for C-sections but depends on your recovery too. Definitely get out walking before then and you can do pelvic floor exercises and abdominal breathing straight away.

EsmesBees · 17/04/2017 13:38

rise that was such a funny thread. The most pfb thing I did was make DH remove the batteries from the clock in the hospital room as the ticking was loud and I couldn't hear DD breathing Blush. I blame the hormones...
