Hopeitwontbebig · 24/04/2007 11:21

I vividly remember a conversation DH and I had when we were on our honeymoon, it went like this:
Me: Wouldn't it be romantic to try for a baby on our honeymoon.
DH: No I'd rather wait a bit longer, bit skint aren't we!
Me: Aw
DH: We were ok on our wedding night weren't we?
Me: Mmmmmmmmmm, NO
DH: Why didn't you tell me?
Me: Too drunk! Anyway who gets pregnant on their wedding night?

PMSL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! funny funny funny!!

Hopeitwontbebig · 24/04/2007 11:23

Our 9th!! Is 10th a special one? I can never keep up.

LoopyLouLisa · 24/04/2007 12:36

Hiya all,

glad to hear the scans and tests are going well but we still haven't heard from Gil (or have i just missed it?)

I confess I have been buying all the things that I wish I'd bought for DS but never got around to it. So far, moses basket for downstairs, swinging/rocking crib for our room (til lo inherits ds's cot) and a new bouncy chair. The one I had ds broke but it was a godsend so def had to replace that. I need some help/advice on buggys please! DS will be 18/19 mths when lo arrives and I really don't know how old kids are when they no longer need to use one. I realise he will still need one then but the length of time is really determining how much I want to spend.

Welcome newbies and hello to jasper! Am so pleased to have another local on board. I am having elcs too prob last week in aug after ds was emergency (find out next week fingers x'd). maybe you can help me with the buggy problem as you know what shops we have for me to try them out before I buy one, and you also have a child of a similar age (mine is 14.5mths at mo). Where are you having lo? I'm going to Southmead.

Gils · 24/04/2007 12:52

So sorry I haven;t been in contact but it has been a very hectic weekend for us. MIL, need I say more!!

Anyway everything is great and scan normal. We didn;t find out sex but the two of us were trying to see if there was anything there. Hospital wouldn't tell us even if we wanted to know but I think its a girl.

I'll go catch up on everyones posts now

LoopyLouLisa · 24/04/2007 12:57

Right finally caught up with all the posts, can't believe how many messages there are.

I never slept at all on Thursday night I was so worried about the scan, think it was because I haven't felt the baby move. I was up at 630am cleaning!!

We were so relieved when everything was ok but he is gutted cause he thought he would here the heartbeat. He is desperate to hear it but he can't get to my midwife appointments.

I've def been suffering some hormonal mood swings. We had an argument on Sunday and of course hormones kicked in and I was in tears within a minute. Not surprisingly it was over my in laws. But that was all forgotten when I finally felt the baby move on Sunday.

We have been looking at prams and cots for a while. We had decided on the silvercross sleppover as we were wanting a lie flat pram but with a reversable pushchair. Anyway went to check it fitted in our boot, it did, but the car seat fits in neither car. Can't believe how depressed I got over a pram. Anyway its back to the drawing board for that.

MMooMar · 24/04/2007 14:08

Hi All,

Hope everyone is feeling hunky dory.

Gils ,Nettee, Sophus,Fiofio, pennypops Congrates on the scans girls, glad everything is OK.

FlossALump and Spangly ,Good luck with yours today.

Spraklynewthing ,good luck with yours tomorrow....

Welcome on board amyclaramum.

Phew...!

Hopeitwontbebig, sorry to hear your DH will be away for your birthday but just think next year there will be a fifth person in your house to celebrate with and their first birthday too.

Sophus, lol at the dog crap...something I would do.Defo cool on the car and driver,I`d be stopping off to get the shopping as well.

MrsMar,I think if you sit at a desk for long periods at a time they are supposed to supply you with a special chair. In the place that I used to work at one of the sercurity women who watched the monitors all day ,promptly went home and stayed away until the company supplied one...which they did.Health and safety thing I think.

Glad to say that I have finally felt LO moving about, quite alot yesterday too. When I go for my scan I might ask if they can tell if the placenta has moved up a bit because I know if they are on the front they sometimes do...or LO might just have big feet .

Not brought a stitch yet for the LO ,will get the scan over with then the 24th week mark, then go mad!

Going to make some lunch now...starving again as usual....bye.

MMooMar · 24/04/2007 14:13

ohh ...just a quick one girls....
Did anyone see that programe last night...
Raising children in the hands of god.(or something like that)OMG...sicko bastards or what....sorry but them women were definatley getting some sort of weird kicks out of hitting their kids with sticks and belts...Terrible...!

MrsFish · 24/04/2007 15:23

I have just started getting slight kicks too, at least that's what I think they are and I am 17 weeks.

Ds1 was due on our first wedding anniversary too, but turned up 4 days later, probably a good thing

LoopyLouLisa · 24/04/2007 16:07

Gils-the Britax website has got a fit-finder for car seats. you choose the make/model of your car and it will tell you which of their seats fit your car and where in your car they will fit. it might be worth checking to see if silver cross do a base for the seat which stays in your car permanently (well, for as long as you're using the child seat) cause that sometimes means you're able to use a seat that wouldn't normally fit in your car. Eg graco do an autobaby base thingy and without it the rear seatbelts wouldn't go around but now the belt goes around the base and the seat just clips in and out. I had it fitted by halfords and also my local council road safety depot checks seats are fitted correctly and it passed.

Laska-any news on the car-hunting?

Sprakly- good luck for tomorrow x

Kerri28 · 24/04/2007 16:21

hello all, can't believe number of messages since last posted!!

i am also suffering the unbelievable stress of choosing prams/pushchairs/cots etc. not bought a thing for LO wither and like to shop around so have been out hunting. i feel soooo overwhelmed!!! not sure what i want, what is good, what is not, too many choices, too many hormones making it all feel like a big horrid nightmare when i just want it to be exciting and happy time . doesn't help that i'm trying to fit my life around dull old work!!!

MMooMar oh my god, i did see that awful programme last night about children raised by god or whatever it was called. they were all sooo sick (the parents that is). and i REALLY don't agree that it's better to remain calm when smacking children. (i'm not one for the whole corporal punishment anyway but each to their own) but surely if you're going to show anger by physical punishment, then its better to be actually a bit angry and shouty to teach your child about emotions, than to just calmly lead you child to a room, close the door and spank his bum?! oh my god i was appalled. they were doing that for FAR more than discipline i am sure of it! who else saw it? it made me sooo mad .

MrsFish · 24/04/2007 16:26

I saw the trailer which was bad enough, didn't think my emotions could cope with watching the whole thing

kinki · 24/04/2007 16:41

MMM, I saw that program too. Sick wasn't it. I felt really ill when the women took that little boy into the room to cane him. She was so calm and determined to inflict pain on that little boy, I was so sad for him. Did you hear his cries? It was all so pre-meditated and cruel.

Talking of feeling ill, my morning sickness came back with avengence today. I'm at 18 weeks, and I think I remember some of you saying it returned at this point. Funny thing is I felt really good after, and 3 different people this afternoon said I look like I'm blooming!

I've bought a few things too. Not clothes, as this is likely to be my 3rd boy. But I got a new pram with carrycot and a moses basket/stand very cheaply off ebay. Plus a few other cheapo bargains when I see them, including some tiny nappies and a steriliser.

Good luck with the scans coming up. I've still got over a month to wait for mine, I can't wait. There was a visitor from the Oct board, (sorry I forgot your nn) whose scan was before mine. I felt a wee bit jealous at that! Hope you all are enjoying the sunny evening.

amyclaramum · 24/04/2007 16:48

I watched it and was shocked by the whole emphasis on "the devil inside the child" argument for smacking them with sticks etc!
I also thought it really sad that the children were home schooled and had no fun !

My DD1 was born 10 days early on the day after our 1st wedding anniversary - quite a shock as everyone said 1st babies always late !

FlossALump · 24/04/2007 17:14

Hello I am back with an empty bladder! Well after 5 partial bladder emptyings, four scans and over 2hrs all is fine with us! Baby was just incredibly stubborn and refusing to shift. I think we're going to have fun and games once this one is born!

Anyway, the sonographer seemed reasonably confident about the sex. And I wouldn't want to buck the trend on here, so it looks like another girl! Am totally delighted. One of each!

MrsFish · 24/04/2007 17:17

Congrats

Gosh lots of girls cropping up, it will be interesting to see the final split

diddle · 24/04/2007 17:21

i almost watched that programme and flicked past it, which i'd seen it now. sounds awful though.

had an exciting weekend, bought our double buggy to get our son used to it. its lovely, i could buy prams and pushchairs for England.

Belly is getting decidedly large, feel enormous, hope everyone else looks 8 months pregnant too! Someone even had the cheek to ask when i was due, as though i was ready to drop

diddle · 24/04/2007 17:21

Flossalump - so glad all was ok, and congrats on your soon to be new daughter

FlossALump · 24/04/2007 17:23

Thank you!

I think I have decided on two possible buggies, either the pilko pramette or the P3 I think it is. Both have toddler steps and are lie flat prams which can then transform into a pushchair. They are light too with lots of shopping room which is important for me as I have no car!
