Morning all, it's offical i am addicted to MN, help!!! Oh well sure baby will cure me in a few weeks, LOL!

How is everyone today, feeling better i hope?

On wed my mw told me to try to turn the baby by bending over, sticking butt out and trying to increase the space it had to turn as it's currently lying back to back. She said obviously only do this when the baby is active. So after ignoring mw with dd and labour taking ages i have decided to take all the advice this time. Anyway yesterday felt baby moving so thought right get up and see if we can move this little one. So went over to sofa, stood arse out, bent over with hands on sofa. DD comes straight over, assumes the same positions, looks up at me and says, 'what we doin mummy', LOL. Bless her!!! So there we both our trying to turn our babies!!!!

Oh, and my baby is called Harry Potter and hers is Ronald Weasley apparently!!!

Morning all, a quick post as I am flying out the door to work. Hope everyone is ok today.

Had a pants night. B woke up at 1.30 and then 4.30 as she had peed in the bed - the end of a long line of dry nights and it took me ages to get back to sleep. Dh got up at 6.30 for work, so now feel lke a zombie! Hey ho, at least the sun is shining!

MIABT, yes, I am reading Anyone out there! I read Getting rid of Matthew as well. I like Freya North too. I am really enjoying reading, as I kind of feel it takes me away from reality for a bit!

Right, need to fight with Becky as I asked her 10 mins ago to get dressed and she hasn't.

See you later. xx

eca · 09/03/2007 09:04

morning

went to a&e, still puking everywhere, and they took bloods etc to check for dehydration. They put in an IV line, which totally freaked me out. I'm not good with needles, but at least when you have a jab, they take it away again afterwards. Just seeing it in my hand made me puke and nearly faint. I know I am a wimp, heaven knows how I'll cope if I have to have a section.

They wanted to give me soe anti-sickness drugs, which I wasn't keen on, because of it crossing the placenta. Obviously they reassured me it was safe and offered to show me the 'book' which said it was safe for pregnancy. But I asked to wait to see if my bloods showed I was dehydrated yet. Apparently I wasn't, so I requested to go home and sleep and see if I could hold something down this am. Thankfully they let me. And thankfully I've managed to drink some milk this morning without throwing it up.

Ugh, what a night. Not going to be doing alot today at all.

Hope everyone else is ok. Was thinking quite a few of us have had trips to hospital recently.

One other thing - mmk - the tongue thing you mentioned - yes! I definately hve that. Didn't know whta it was, but really sore and painful!

maveta · 09/03/2007 09:12

Morning! No work today, YAY! Sun is shining, I´ve slept like an angel and all is right with the world. Going to try and strike while the iron´s hot and get showered, dressed and do some cleaning before my daily dose of energy abandons me.

Kind of scary that people are starting to have real twinges and things that need monitored etc. it stills feels quite far away for me but just knowing I´m right behind you all is enough! I am so excited about meeting our baby but a bit scared too.. not sure if it´s better with the first cos at least you don´t really know what you´ve let yourself in for until its too late! Had my antenatal couples chat last night, I´ve been going for a month, and now girls who were about where I am now are about to pop and that´s scary.

My next date to count down to is my 35 week scan 2 weeks yesterday and it´s also when my older sister is coming to stay for the weekend. I can´t wait to see her and have some sister time.

Thinking of all of you who are needing monitored or having aches and pains especially much xx

maveta · 09/03/2007 09:14

SOSPL - sorry you had a wet night with Becky but she´s done so well lately so hopefully just a minor glitch in the programme!

Eca - so glad you are back home and not throwing up anymore, take it easy and I hope you feel 100% (or as 100% as being 8 months pregnant allows!) soon x

mammyjo · 09/03/2007 09:22

Hi everyone. Sun is shining here too and it makes me feel so much better! Dh is starting work late today so has taken ds to school and I am sitting here in wonderful peace and quiet. I slept fairly well too, right through from half 12 til half 6. I havent had 6 hours sleep in a row for months!! Its amazing how much better I feel because of it.

Maveta, I bet your sunshine is rather warmer than mine here. Its only about 7 or 8 degrees here but looks lovely.

Opinions, poor you. Hope you get chance to rest up and take it easier.

1b3, I think that the contraction type pains I was getting in the hospital are braxton hicks that I hadnt really noticed before. When I actually think about it they have been around for a while I just ignored them! They can be uncomfortable though cant they! Hope you are doing ok today.

Eddas, lovely name choices for you lo!! I would go with Ron Weasley!!

MIABT, hope you feel a bit better today. Hopefully the sunshine will help to lift you up a bit.

Eca, glad you got home again last night. Hope you manage to have a better day today and keep some drinks down.

Have a good day everyone and apologies to those I havent mentioned xxx

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 09:43

Morning all

Glad everyone is home and well again - next month is going to be manic!

Child free day today so planning to do absolutely nothing!

Have a nice day everyone xoxoxox

mmk · 09/03/2007 09:44

Eca, hope things settle for you. The tongue thing is ghastly, isn't it?
This is a wonderful group, because people can write about their worries, and it is balanced by people who have good news etc to share.

It's nice if people can help you carry your troubles. There is so much now that we have to deal with, how would we cope without eachother?

Our computer at home is broken, by coincindence, this happened when ds was alone in the room with it. We have finally got the company to come and fix it, but it has taken weeks to get in touch with them.. When I start ML next week, my only contact will be when I go to the library (45 mins on the bus).

Today is my last day at work, I'm thrilled. I am so blessed that the temp agency kept me in work right up to my last day. Today, they are holding a lunch at their office too, which will be lovely.

Hurrah, for spring! ds now waskes at 6.45, jumps all over me, and then begs daddy to read him a story- what a blessing!

Potty training has lead to new, dizzy heights! Ds took himself off to the toilet, got on it and did a pee last night. We only realised when DH went to look for him.

Yes, he chats all day long too, he gets if from me....

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 09:51

I think Ellie is right about the feeding thread - maybe once the babies start to arrive we could have a April postnatal thread which doesn't attract too much attention from 'breastfeeding well wishers' - its pretty clear that most of the second/third timers among us have had problems and tbh 'just carry on' or 'don't give up' really p*sses me off because it is not constructive or helpful at all.

Phew - bit of a rant

mmk · 09/03/2007 10:00

good idea about the thread, anyone know how to do it?

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 10:05

EllieK!

I do want to breastfeed and keep going atleast until after the summer but like you mmk I got such crap advice last time - including from the NCT that I am quite anxious about it and if I do decide to bottlefeed it is because I have made the decision based on what I think is right for me and baby and really don't need some people ranting on at me about how I should just carry on - some bf people on mn are very condemning and with a new baby that really is not what you need!

Eddas · 09/03/2007 10:10

Have to say i agree re the bf thread. Not sure i will bf and probably won't post on it, but incase i want to i really can't stand the 'bf is the only choice people'. I'm of the opinion that yes bf is best but at the end of the day it is a personal choice and no one has the right to make others feel bad for not doing it or not carrying on. I feel so sorry for all those who feel a failure because they can't bf. Most of the time they only feel a failure because of others. Being a stubborn git myself i would just tell them to mind their own business!!!

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 10:10

Arggh, I spend so long catching up that I've then run out of time to post anything!! Glad all who have been into hospital are doing okay. We're so much on the countdown now aren't we?!?

The sun is shining here this morning and it's Friday - wahey! Am going to work till 12.30 and then take DD to the swings I think. And then pop into Boots for more hospital bag supplies - witch hazel, glucose tablets etc. One thing I remembered which might be useful for first timers (or those with no brain like me ) - you need long tops for wearing in hospital as you have the equivalent of a small mattress between your legs! Like MIABT I am very much of the 'have to get dressed to feel human' camp, so have packed some jogging bottoms (not that I ever go jogging!), a couple of long T-shirts and a cardi.

Emmymummy - have you heard any more from the police about your window-breaking drama? Must have been awful for all of you.

Pesha - sounds like you handled the tooth fairy incident very well. She'll have forgotten about it much, much sooner than you will you know!!

Right, my brain is officially full now (doesn't take much!). Back later....

Eddas · 09/03/2007 10:15

LOL at the matress comment. I was utterly shock when the mw put two massive pads between my legs after dd, i mean they are bloomin huge anyway and two!!! But turned out that on waking i was leaking so obviously she was right!!!

Oh another thing that no one ever mentioned to me was the colour of the baby when it's born. Don't want to worry anyone, and maybe it was just my dd, but she was grey. It was so shocked and wished someone had warned me. Totally normal i believe(please confirm for me other second + timers) They very quickly turn the lovely pinky colour though

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 10:16

Meant to say (to 1b3, mammyjo and anyone else wondering about BH contractions) that I find it very difficult to tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and the baby moving about. I seem to have a lot of the same symptoms - bump goes totally rigid and pulls on my back, then relaxes after 30 seconds or so, and sometimes I think they're BH, especially when they keep coming regularly, and then at other times I think it's just the baby trying to manoevre in its by now very confined space!

And another thing - can anyone enlighten me as to why the baby's spine being on the left is better than on the right? This one has its spine on the right and has had for several weeks now. I'm really trying to sleep on my left, but I don't find it that comfortable, and nearly always wake up on my right, which is probably why it isn't shifting. I think I read somewhere that they only ever move from right to left via back to back, which clearly I don't want, but that sounds a bit unlikely. Does it have to be on the left to come out the right way up?!? Anyone know any more than by garbled and disjointed collection of info?!?

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 10:23

Just to let you know you can buy second hand lilypadz on ebay NICE [bleeurrghh)!!

Eddas · 09/03/2007 10:28

You can buy used bottle teats too

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 10:29

Used re-useable sanitary wear e.g. mooncups

Eddas · 09/03/2007 10:32

I didn't know what i mooncup was just put it into a search engine, and eeewww!!! Wondered what the constant references to them were on MN!!!

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 10:33

Octopussy - another question about maternity allowance for you: How long before you heard anything from them? I sent my forms off to the job centre maybe 3 weeks ago now, and haven't heard anything from them yet . . .

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 10:35

Bramshott - I heard back within days - you should give them a call - in fact got my first payment today - have opted for weekly payments so don't spend it all at once!

octopussyintummy · 09/03/2007 10:37

Eddas - I do have a mooncup believe it or not! Have had mixed success with it - had a terrible week camping in the rain and the mooncup kept leaking - positioning problem but other times has been fab. Would not buy a second hand one though!!!

mmk · 09/03/2007 10:39

Octopussy
I'm with you there! nobody should feel any pressure. I don't expect I'll keep it up for long though-unless I get really good at it. If it helps me loose weight though, I'll keep it up for 20 years - arf arf!
I have to say, bottle feeding has a lot of advantages. The stuff is all there, ready, you don't hurt, nobody stares at you....

ds was bottle fed, and is just fine! It's something I'd like to experience. I am so, so blessed that I got to experience the wonderous gift of a child, and another on the way. I don't want to miss any bits out!

I'm worried that if I bf in front of SIL, it will start her off again, and she'll bf for another 20 years! Her bf children are now 15 months and 4 years old.

Bramshott · 09/03/2007 10:40

Thanks Octo - I'll give them a call. Here's hoping they haven't lost it all, along with my MATB1 form

mmk · 09/03/2007 10:41

octopussy
I am absolutely PML again, about your moon cup. Ive heard of them, and wondered what it was like, now I know....

Please God, don't let us attract anyone who is really pro mooncup- I couldn't bear it!
