totally agree, if you can't or don't breastfeed, you shouldn't feel bad about it. Everybody is in a different situation, and should never feel co-erced.
Feel so sad for the lady who got PND and feels sad.
I was given all the wrong advice, and had to give up, and felt dreadful. SIL carried on bf 2 year old, and new baby, and it really, really hurt to see that.

Our DS was bottle fed, we all turned out just fine, so did he!

I would love to get it right though, (mainly because this must be my last ever pregnancy)but doubt I'd keep it up for long.

Why by the way, aren't women who can't or don't want to bf, invited to express and then feed the bm in a bottle - am I missing something?

Katy44 · 08/03/2007 16:39

I hadn't really thought that through- maybe just to practice, until I get my real one.

Yes, I'd have to be mad to want 2 tiny babies at the same time

(I hope you realised I was teasing you - I'm actually quite jealous)

re the lady (I think she is a midwife) who had the 12 children - how the hell has she got time to sell slings?

Oh and by the way, where I come from, we'd say she must be a right goer!

Katy44 · 08/03/2007 16:40

Cos she has 2 hands free - all her children are located in slings on various parts of her body and she can do ANYTHING!

Katy, you are so funny!

I have to say, I was pretty miserable until I found my way to this group. I haven't laughed so much in absolutely ages!

What with norks, milky grins, wet feet, weebles on gaviscon... more than once I've had to leave my desk and just snigger in the corridor.

Katy44 · 08/03/2007 16:46

Not to mention measuring your nipples!
(Am still DH says mine are larger than average)

Actually that Freedom lady is another older mum and I'll bet her first 5 or so kids look after the rest of them while she rakes in the cash....

1becomes3 · 08/03/2007 16:48

Where is this sling everyone is talking about?
Would it work if I brought 2 one for each DT?
I don't suppose you could do me a link so i can have a quick look please

Katy44 · 08/03/2007 16:51

I can't find anywhere on that site selling them, I assume you contact her directly, and she also sells them on ebay.

www.freedomslings.co.uk/

I expect she could make you a double one.

Still laughing at your comment birdie

1becomes3 · 08/03/2007 16:56

Thanks Katy.

Is it just me or the the new born babies look very squashed up and uncomfortable in there?

I would be a bit worried sticking a tiny baby in there.

I love the camouflage ones. I can just see DH swinging off the scaffolding at work with a DT tucked inside his camouflage pouch

Katy44 · 08/03/2007 16:59

Oh I was actually thinking they looked quite comfy - surely it must be quite womb-like?
I wonder whether that's right

Katy44 · 08/03/2007 16:59

at the camouflage ones! You could hide in the hedge wearing one and jump out to startle people!

He's arranged someone to come and look at the boiler tomorrow between 9 and 10. Will you be in he says, well no because ever since the beginning of the year i take dd to pre school at 9.15 and get back at around 9.45 every monday and friday. Oh well i tried to ring, he says. FFS it's every week not a one off, why can he not remember?!!!

And please someone explain why dd can eat a huge pile of beans and then moan when the sausage is covered in bean juice WTF?!!!

Ahhh that feels better, sorry!!!

1becomes3 · 08/03/2007 17:05

Sound like you are having a "fun" day eddas.
here is a big [[[hug]]] for you.

octopussyintummy · 08/03/2007 17:08

Good title Lots of people say I look quite neat now which is good - someone even said today that I hadn't put any weight on my face - nearly kissed her

Am contemplating washing all my normal clothes ready for afterwards - that is what you call nesting!

I am going to say something - and I know like I sound like my mother and I know I wouldn;t do it myself - but here goes ... some slings you see around you could make yourself out of material you like... (groans from the crowd!) esp the fleece ones which have stretch in them anyway.

I am going to do my strep b test next week - wasn't planning on asking dh to do the deed I have to say Haven't read instructions yet either! 1cm doesn;t sound too bad ...

Eddas · 08/03/2007 17:10

Thanks for the hug!! was fine til i get dappy a**d dh on the phone and a slightly tired dd!!!!

If only i could have some much needed vodka, just over 3 weeks til due date so not long now.

I did have a wonderful dd free day and dd and dh free night as i went to my friends. They are all still out all the time, some with dp's others not, but makes a change to talk about girly crap and getting drunk! They're already planning my first outing. One of them says she's getting into training as she thinks i drink alot!! I don't but she always gets hammered with me in tow and i get the blame!

eca · 08/03/2007 17:15

just quick message - have been throwing up all day and just called m/w and they want me to go to a&e to check me and baby. Hope everything's ok.

I was thinking the same Octo.. really want a calin bleu wrap sling because some other MNetters recommended it as good in hot weather. But their new spring lot isn´t ready yet and I´ve been waiting and waiting and the other day thought... hold on, it´s just a bloomin´ length of fabric, why don´t I just buy some and make my own? Duh.

Any recommendations from anyone on how wide it should be? I gather it should be about 4 metres in length, I guess I´d get it longer and cut it down if necessary..but how wide should it be?

I´m off for the weekend! So tired but only 9 more working days to go!!!

Where IS GMM by the way. also hope WO and mammyjo are doing okay. Thanks for sympathy for my rib pain.. it isn´t fun but I´m sure SPD is miles worse so I still count myself as getting off lightly.

maveta · 08/03/2007 17:20

Hope everything goes ok eca, we´ll be waiting for news x

Birdiebump · 08/03/2007 17:21

Hope all ok Eca - maybe just a bug? Let us know as soon as you can. [[hugs]]]

Eddas · 08/03/2007 17:23

Katy44 · 08/03/2007 17:23

Oh yeah, remember I told you all about my friend who is separating after only 18mths marriage? I needed to get in touch with him to chase a work thing and sent him a text saying ´sorry to hear about you guys blah blah´all very noncomittal and neutral and then asked him the worky thing. He replied saying that he´s really worried about her, thinks she has loads of very real problems, will need friends like me blah blah BLOODY BLAH. Cheeky sod! That might sound nice and caring but my friend does NOT have problems, there is nothing wrong with her except him! And that´s not girly solidarity, dh is also friends with her and feels like her ex-dh has never really treated her well. I have not told her and won´t but it pisses me off that he´s probably going around spreading the idea with everyone that she´s some kind of psycho nut.
